• How to make a deb install only when the dependency is installed, or the conflicting packages aren't?

  I'm making a package for Cydia, but since it uses APT/dpkg, I thought I'd ask this question here. I want my package to only install if gsc.wildcat (represents an iPad) is installed, or if gsc.front-facing-camera (represents an iPhone 4/4S) is not installed. This setup would let the package only install on the 3GS or an iPad, but there's no package that represents a 3GS that I know of. It also requires iOS 5 (firmware (>= 5.0)). Here's an excerpt from my control file: Depends: gsc.wildcat, firmware (>= 5.0) Conflicts: gsc.front-facing-camera How can I do this with only Depends/Conflicts? (Please note that this question is about dpkg and not Cydia.)

• Is this project Structure Valid?

  I have a dilemma: In the university we learn to create modular software (on java), but this modularity is explained using a single project with packages (a package for business, another one for DAOS and another one for the model, oh and a last package for frontend). But in my work we use the next structure: I will try to explain: First we create a java library project where the model (entities classes) are created in a package. Next we create an EJB named DAOS and using the netbeans wizard we store the DAOS interfaces in the library project in another package , these interfaces are implemented in the DAOS bean. So the next part is the business logic, we create a business EJB for each group of functions , again using the wizard we store the interface in the java library project in another package then is implemented on the business bean. The final part (for the backend) is a bean that I have suggested: a Facade bean who will gather every method of the business beans in a single bean and this has an interface too that is created in our library project and implemented in the bean. So the next part is call the facade module on the web project. But I don't know how valid or viable is this, maybe I'm doing everything wrong and I don't even know! so I want to ask your opinion about this.

  Oracle OpenWorld Shanghai 2013 was held July 22nd – 25th at the International Expo Center in Shanghai, China. The conference drew over 19,000 attendees from 44 countries. In addition, 580 CxOs attended the Executive Edge program, and 430+ partners attended the Oracle Partner Network Exchange. The conference included a number of sessions on Big Data, Business Analytics, Business Intelligence and Enterprise Performance Management delivered by Oracle, our partners and customers.  I had the pleasure to attend the conference and delivered three sessions focused on Oracle’s Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) applications. Each of my sessions was well-attended, and in a few cases was standing room only, so there is clearly a lot of interest in the China market in EPM. The EPM and BI demo pods in the DemoGrounds at the conference also received a lot of traffic. In addition to the conference sessions I delivered, I had several meetings with customers and partners in Shanghai.These sessions and meetings I attended made clear the interest that customers in China have in improving their planning, management reporting, financial reporting, and profitability management processes. In fact, with the China Ministry of Finance now standardizing on XBRL for annual reporting across multiple agencies in China, there is a great opportunity here for our disclosure management application.   I tried to install the Ubuntu Studio Graphics meta-package, however it didn't install correctly.The package gimp-plugin-registry just won`t install, i tried the one in the Software center and the one on the WebUp8 PPA neither package works. • Android From Local DB (DAO) to Server sync (JSON) - Design issue

  I sync data between my local DB and a Server. I'm looking for the cleanest way to modelise all of this. I have a com.something.db package That contains a Data Helper and couple of DAO classes that represents objects stored in the db (I didn't write that part) com.something.db --public DataHelper --public Employee @DatabaseField e.g. "name" will be an actual column name in the DB -name @DatabaseField -salary etc... (all in all 50 fields) I have a com.something.sync package That contains all the implementation detail on how to send data to the server. It boils down to a ConnectionManager that is fed by different classes that implements a 'Request' interface com.something.sync --public interface ConnectionManager --package ConnectionManagerImpl --public interface Request --package LoginRequest --package GetEmployeesRequest My issue is, at some point in the sync process, I have to JSONise and de-JSONise my data (E.g. the Employee class). But I really don't feel like having the same Employee class be responsible for both his JSONisation and his actual representation inside the local database. It really doesn't feel right, because I carefully decoupled the rest, I am only stuck on this JSON thing. What should I do ? Should I write 3 Employee classes ? Is there a common pattern I can use there ?

• When checking to see if I could update anything, get error message crossover and cannot open update manager

  I am running ubunt 11.10 only on my computer. I had it off for a few months and wanted to see if it needed any updates. When I try to click on Update Manager, I get the following error message: Could not initialize the package information An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information. Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message: 'E:Opening /etc/apt/sources.list.d/private-ppa.launchpad.net_commercial-ppa-uploaders_crossover-games_ubuntu.list - ifstream::ifstream (13: Permission denied)'
