• Is there a way to call custom method of Custom Role Provider class

  Hello friends, I have created my own custom role provider class "SGI_RoleProvider" and configured properly. Everything is working fine. Suppose that I have added a public method say "SayHello()", then how can i call that. Because if i am using Roles then the method is not displayed. If i am forcefully using that Roles.SayHello() then compiler gives the error. Any suggestion how can i call this. Because creating a new instance of SGI_RoleProvider is meaningless. Thanks for sharing your time.

• Annoying Blank pop-up window go away

  Hi All, Sorry about the wording for my question title. I have a basic HTML anchor tag that when clicked it is suppose to bring up a dialog box to download a file from a differnt website. I am using an attribute of target="_blank" so that when my hyperlink is clicked, I don't navigate away from my main window. This is all the easy part (if it was so easy I wouldnt be here though). When I do the above though, and click on the hyperlink, an annoying blank window pops up with my download dialog box behind it. How do I get rid of that annoying blank window and keep only my download dialog box on the screen?   I am using Intel's FORTRAN compiler to compile a numerical library. The test case provided errors out within libc.so.6. When I attach Intel's debugger (IDB) the application runs through successfully. How do I debug a bug where the debugger prevents the bug? Note that the same bug arose with gfortran. • CSS: float:left with a margin-right doesn't push all elements away

  I'd like all my content to flow around an image. To do this, I simply did img#me { width: 300px; float: left; margin-right: 30px; } This works for text wraping, but other elements go behind it. For example <style> h2 { background: black; color: white; } </style> <img id="me" src="http://paultarjan.com/paul.jpg" /> <h2>Things!</h2> Then the h2 background flows right past the 30px margin. • How to add star rating to UITableView cell?

  I need to display a bunch of UITableViewCell in my iPhone application. Sample look below. I know how I can enable accessory view and image to UITableView cell but the problem is that I need to add a star rating as visible on the screen. There's no fancy logic behind it, it will just be few images that will be either enabled or disabled. I though that I could create a custom UITableViewCell in NIB but how would I use it in cellForRowAtIndexPath method. If it was just one custom cell I'd just provide an outlet for it and hook it with a property and use it there. But since it would be used multiple times I think I'll need to clone it or copy somehow. What is the simpliest way of adding such stuff to UITableViewCell?

• MySQL and Matlab

  I want to interact with a MySQL database from Matlab. I found a mysql "library" for matlab here and the same on mathworks. I followed the instructions to compile the library and the compilation seems to be successful. I get a mex32 file at the end. Only, the instructions on the first page refer to a Dll that I need to use (I guess that a Dll was supposed to be generated). I am not familiar with the mex compiler or with compiling external modules for Matlab. Am I missing something trivial? Where is the Dll supposed to be? Thanks.

  This is more of a thought i had awhile rather than an actual problem to solve, maybe more a discussion, but i was wondering if it would be possible to design the game of solitaire and be abkle to play it in the python GUI or some other form of iterface? I know you can get a deck of cards fairly easily and i know yuo can play simple games like snap and so on but i thought solitaire would be more challenging and fun because there is alot more logic behind it than just laying out the cards randomly. Any ideas? (I would be intrested to hear about or see any solutions if anyone had any links etc..)

• Understanding the output from svn export

  Working on some tweaks for a build script, I noticed that the output from svn export has an 'A' in column 1 for each file exported. A C:\build\file1 A C:\build\file2 A C:\build\file3 The subversion book describes the meaning of the various columns for svnlook changes and svn status, but I'm not having much luck finding the meaning behind this one. What does the 'A' in column 1 mean? Are there any other values displayed there? Any other columns? Thanks!

  I'm getting the following error when trying to deploy a ZIP file to a remote FTP server. I tried connecting to the server using an FTP client (filezilla) and all goes well. Also, when connecting to a public ftp like ftp.belnet.be connections work fine. I'm trying to send the file to a VSFTPD server behind a router using port forwarding. Again, this works fine from any location using Filezilla, phing is not connecting though... • Is there a way to pass a custom type from C# to Oracle using System.Data.OracleClient?

  I was searching online for a solution to passing a string array to a stored procedure in Oracle. The "easy" but messy way was using a comma delimited string. I had found a sample based on which I created my own type of TABLE of VARCHAR2(200). I understood that I could use a constructor created "behind-the-scenes" by Oracle to give a list of values that would, in the PL/SQL, be treated as a TABLE I could iterate through. But when I got to the C# I saw that there is no way for me to create an OracleParameter object that would allow me to use this implicit constructor. All the samples I'm finding online for now are dealing with Oracle Data Adapter, none say anything about System.Data.OracleClient. Is there a way to achieve this?

• How do I check out Eclipse projects from CVS using the command line

  Hi. I'm trying to check out the Mylyn project from Eclipse. However, I can't use Eclipse to check out the projects and am having to do it via the command line. I'm behind a firewall so am basing my attempt on http://wiki.eclipse.org/CVS_Howto#CVS_and_firewalls. I'm not very familiar with CVS.   I need to open window pop-up from Silverlight Out-of-Browser application. I've added parameter <param name="enablehtmlaccess" value="true" /> in Index.html, but executing this from code behind: HtmlPage.Window.Navigate(new Uri(myUrl), "_blank", myFeatures); still returns error: Silverlight OOB Error: The DOM/scripting bridge is disabled. I've read about this post, does it mean that I can't open pop-up from OOB? Why I need to do this, because actually I've shown the HTML page in OOB Silverlight by WebBrowser control within ChildWindow but when I click an anchor in HTML page, which linked to _blank page, it jumps to my default browser. It doesn't meet the requirement, except launch that HTML index page also in default browser at the first time, triggered from button control in OOB Silverlight. Is that possible? Please advice, thanks.

  I am using the free Kendo UI Core Framework. I am looking for a searchable Combobox that fires the sql after inserting, for example, 2 letters. Behind my Listbox there are more than 10000 items and now it takes too much time when I load or refresh the page. Is it possible to trigger the sql query only by user input like the autocomplete widget do? • Why is it preferable to call a static method statically from within an instance of the method's clas

  If I create an instance of a class in Java, why is it preferable to call a static method of that same class statically, rather than using this.method()? I get a warning from Eclipse when I try to call static method staticMethod() from within the custom class's constructor via this.staticMethod(). public MyClass() { this.staticMethod(); } vs public MyClass() { MyClass.staticMethod(); } Can anyone explain why this is a bad thing to do? It seems to me like the compiler should already have allocated an instance of the object, so statically allocating memory would be unneeded overhead.

The actual program is a bit more complicated. I am actually using a node in a linked list to pass to the method LinkedListNode node The method uses recursion because the node is mart of a huge linked list structure of linked lists that outputs an xml file. Either I have to find a way to use recursion without using methods or I need to find a way to pass pointers nodes or actual nodes.

  When I wish to bind a control to a property of my object, I have to provide the name of the property as a string. This is not very good because: If the property is removed or renamed, I don’t get a compiler warning. If a rename the property with a refactoring tool, it is likely the data binding will not be updated. I don’t get an error until runtime if the type of the property is wrong, e.g. binding an integer to a date chooser. Is there a design-paten that gets round this, but still has the ease of use of data-binding? (This is a problem in WinForm, Asp.net and WPF and most likely lots of other systems) I have now found "workarounds for nameof() operator in C#: typesafe databinding" that also has a good starting point for a solution.

• Are there macro facility for Java or C#?

  Macros are useful. Therefore, I occasionally bemoan the absence of macros in Java and C#. Macros allow me to force in-line but allow me the code-manageability of non-macro code. Is there any Java- or C#-based project/product somewhere out there that effectively allow macros or specifying in-line expansion. I am thinking of something like @macro public void hello(int x){ ... } or when I call a method, an @inline annotation preceding the call would effect the called-method to be in-lined. or, should I need to know that I should just trust the compiler to make the best the decision for me that at the best of its analysis it might in-line a call. I hope this question will not lead to debating the pro/cons/usefulness of macros.

  I have a list of Accommodation objects bound to a Repeater, and then a nested Repeater which has the various attendee groups listed [e.g. Default, Seniors, Juniors]. This is all output fine, with the values displayed as LinkButtons, which when clicked gets sent to a code-behind event handler. Here is an example of the output to give you a picture [with some er... interesting attendee group names]: In the event handler, I test the object parameter to see which Repeater has been sent, as the outer repeater's links can also be clicked [so the Accommodation would be set, but no Attendee Group]. Is there a way to get a HiddenField from the outer RepeaterItem that contains the currently clicked inner repeater's LinkButton? E.g. From the image, I click the Attending link in the Women section. So the EventArgs via FindControl can get me the hidden field which contains the Attendee Group's ID, which is good, but I also need the Accommodation ID [to know whether it was either Wimbledon Hotel Inn or New Acc]

• How to establish a two-way communication between Activity and Service in different process?

  Hi everyone, I'm working on establishing a two-way communication between an Activity and a Service which runs in a different process. Querying the process from the Activity is no big deal. But I want the process to notify the Activity on events. The idea behind it is this: the service runs independently from the actual app. It queries a webserver periodically. If a new task is found on the webserver the process should notify the activity. I found this thread over at AndDev.org but it doesn't seem to work for me. I've been messing around with BroadcastReceiver. I've implemented an interface which should notify the Activity but the problem is that the listener is always null since the Broadcast from the process is done via Intent, hence the class that extends BroadcastReceiver will be newly instantiated. How can I establish a 2-way communication? This has to be possible. Thanks for any help, steff
