  • Python and App Engine project structure

    Hello, I am relatively new to python and app engine, and I just finished my first project. It consists of several *.py files (usually py file for every page on the site) and respectively temple files for each py file. In addition, I have one big PY file that has many functions that are common to a lot of pages, in I also declared the classes of db.Model (that is the datastore kinds). My question is what is the convention (if there is one) of arranging these files. If I create a model.py with the datastore classes, should it be in different package? Where should I put my template files and all of the py files that handle every page (should they be in the same directory as the one big common PY file)? I have tried to look for MVC and such implementations online but there are very few. Thanks, Joel

  • How do you Access an Authenticated Google App Engine Service with Ruby?

    I am trying to do this same thing here but with Ruby: Access Authenticated GAE Client with Python. Any ideas how to retrieve authenticated content from GAE with Ruby? I am using the Ruby GData Gem to access everything in Google Docs and such and it's making life very easy, but now I'd like to access things on GAE that require admin access, programmatically, and it doesn't support that.   • Appengine datastore phantom entity - inconsistent state?

    Getting a weird error on java appengine code that used to work fine (nothing has changed but the data in the datastore). I'm trying to iterate over the results of a query and change a few properties of the entities. The query does return a set of results, however, when I try to access the first result in the list, it throws an exception when trying to access any of its properties (but its key). So it seems there is a phantom entity in my datastore with key 3204258. THis entity doesn't really exist (queried the datastore from admin console) but for some reason its being returned by the query. Could my data store be in an inconsistent state? I've managed the following workaround by placing it as the first line in my for loop. Clearly an ugly hack: if (c.getOnTheCanId() == 3204258) { continue; } Any ideas?

  • Link Maven OSGi to Maven NetBeans Platform Project

    I am using NetBeans 6.9 Beta and I would like to accomplish the following: Set up a project representing the main application using Maven (for instance "Maven Project", "Maven NetBeans Application") Ideally, the project should only contain the necessary libraries to run in Apache Felix (I would like to be able to right-click the project and select "Run in Felix") I do not want that the project contains all the NetBean Platform APIs I would prefer to implement the modules using OSGi. For instance "Maven OSGi Bundle", "Maven NetBeans Module" + OSGi These are the problems, which I have at the moment: The standard Maven archetype ("Maven NetBeans Application") seems always to select all APIs and I have not found a way to deselect APIs - in normal NetBeans Platform Applications that can be accomplished by going to the project properties and deselected the platform modules) - I guess it has something to do with the NetBeans repository (http://bits.netbeans.org/maven2)? Do I have to create another repository? When creating normal "NetBeans Module" with OSGi support, the modules contain both NetBeans Module and OSGi meta data, which is nice. But the "Maven NetBeans Modules" have only NetBeans meta data and the Maven OSGi Bundles have only OSGi meta data). I figured out how to add modules to the project by using project / new and then placing the modules in the Maven project folder. However, I do not quite know yet how I could link to modules from other locations (NetBeans uses Maven modules, which have to be in the same directory as the project?).   • How do I resize a Google Map with JavaScript after it has loaded?

    I have a 'mapwrap' div set to 400px x 400px and inside that I have a Google 'map' set to 100% x 100%. So the map loads at 400 x 400px, then with JavaScript I resize the 'mapwrap' to 100% x 100% of the screen - the google map resizes to the whole screen as I expected but tiles start disappearing before the right hand edge of the page. Is there a simple function I can call to cause the Google map to re-adjust to the larger size 'mapwrap' div?

I reckon the field "appId" is meant for this, but this field is empty in the response.

  • How can I include platform-specific native libraries in the .JAR file using Eclipse?

    Hello all, I am just starting to learn JNI. I have been following a simple example, and I have created a Java app that calls a Hello World method in a native library. I'd like to target Win32 and Linux x86. My library resides in a DLL, and I can call it just fine using LoadLibrary when the DLL is added to the root of my Eclipse project. However, I can't figure out how to get Eclipse to export a runnable JAR that includes the DLL and the .SO file for Linux. So my question is basically; how would you go about creating a project in Eclipse and include several versions of the same native library? Thank you, Martin

    Php-closure compiler (linked to source code) currently writes the compiled code to a md5 encoded filename. How can I make it so it write the compiled code to a predefined name like compiled_code.js? . . I think it has to do with the write() function on Line 164. It gets the filename via the _getCacheFileName() function (Line 272). function _getCacheFileName() { return $this->_cache_dir . $this->_getHash() . ".js"; } I've tried altering it to this: function _getCacheFileName() { //return $this->_cache_dir . $this->_getHash() . ".js"; return 'copiled_code.js'; } without any results.   • Datastore performance, my code or the datastore latency

    I had for the last month a bit of a problem with a quite basic datastore query. It involves 2 db.Models with one referring to the other with a db.ReferenceProperty. The problem is that according to the admin logs the request takes about 2-4 seconds to complete. I strip it down to a bare form and a list to display the results. The put works fine, but the get accumulates (in my opinion) way to much cpu time. #The get look like this: outputData['items'] = {} labelsData = Label.all() for label in labelsData: labelItem = label.item.name if labelItem not in outputData['items']: outputData['items'][labelItem] = { 'item' : labelItem, 'labels' : [] } outputData['items'][labelItem]['labels'].append(label.text) path = os.path.join(os.path.dirname(__file__), 'index.html') self.response.out.write(template.render(path, outputData)) #And the models: class Item(db.Model): name = db.StringProperty() class Label(db.Model): text = db.StringProperty() lang = db.StringProperty() item = db.ReferenceProperty(Item) I've tried to make it a number of different way ie. instead of ReferenceProperty storing all Label keys in the Item Model as a db.ListProperty. My test data is just 10 rows in Item and 40 in Label. So my questions: Is it a fools errand to try to optimize this since the high cpu usage is due to the problems with the datastore or have I just screwed up somewhere in the code? ..fredrik

    I have two models in relation one-to-many: class Question(db.Model): questionText = db.StringProperty(multiline=False) class Answer(db.Model): answerText = db.StringProperty(multiline=False) question = db.ReferenceProperty(Question, collection_name='answers') I have front-end implemented in Flex and use pyamf to load data. When i try to load all answers with related questions all works as desired and I can access field answer.question however in case of loading questions (e.g. by Questions.all() ), 'question.answers' remains empty/null (though on server/python side I can revise question.answers without problem - probably after lazy-loading). So is it possible to load all questions along with answers ? (I know this is possible in JPA Java api but what about python ?) Shoud I use additional setting, GQL query or django framework to make it work ?

    What is the maximum number of characters that can be used to define the key_name of a datastore entity? Is it bad to have very long key_names? For example: Lets say we use key_names of a 170 characters, which is the length of a Twitter message 140 plus 10 numeric characters for latitude and 10 for longtitude and 10 for a timestamp. (Reasoning of such a key_name: So by using such a key_name we can easily and quickly be sure of no duplicate postings, since the same message should not come from the same place and time more than once.)

  • How to get all visible markers on current zoom level

    Here are some points: 1) I have some markers on the map and records associated with it on the right panel besides the map. They are connected via numeric id, which is stored as a property of marker. 2) All the markers are stored in an array. 3) When the user zooms in the map, records, associated to only visible markers should be shown on the right panel. So, how to get the list of all visible markers on the current zoom level? I've searched over the internet and didn't find something useful.   • Is there anyway of making json data readable by a Google spider?

    Is it possible to make JSON data readable by a Google spider? Say for instance that I have a JSON feed that contains the data for an e-commerce site. This JSON data is used to populate a human-readable page in the users browser. (I.E. The translation from JSON data to human displayed page is done inside the users browser; not my choice, just what I've been given to work with, its an old legacy CGI application and not an actual server-side scripting language.) My concern here is that, the google spiders will not be able to pickup/directly link to the item in question when a user clicks on it in google, being presented with an index page full of all the items, rather than being linked directly to the item they clicked on. Is there anyway of "informing" the google spider in the JSON that what they should feed the user a different link?

  • Do Blob properties on entities affect query performance?

    Hello I'm trying to make my mind on whether to store a binary representation of an entity as its Blob property, or whether I better keep the blobs in some separate 'wrapping' class. Possible impact on memory heap and/or a query execution time are my concerns in the first case, complexity votes against the other one. I know Blobs are not indexed, i.e. index size is not what I'm worrying about. Also I assume for blobs Datastore puts defaultFetchGroup to false, but does it mean that blobs don't make a difference in queries? Regards J. Záruba
