  • PHP max_execution_time not timing out

    This is not one of the regular questions if sleep is counted for timeout or stuff like that. Ok, here's the problem: I've set the max_execution_time for PHP as 15 seconds and ideally this should time out when it crosses the set limit, but it doesn't. Apache has been restarted after the change to the php.ini file and an ini_get('max_execution_time') is all fine. Sometimes the script runs for upto 200 seconds which is crazy. I have no database communication whatsoever. All the script does is looking for files on the unix filesystem and in some cases re-directing to another JSP page. There is no sleep() on the script. I calculate the total execution time of the PHP script like this: At the start of the script I set : $_mtime = microtime(); $_mtime = explode(" ",$_mtime); $_mtime = $_mtime[1] + $_mtime[0]; $_gStartTime = $_mtime; and the end time($_gEndTime) is calculated similarly. The total time is calculated in a shutdown function that I've registered: register_shutdown_function('shutdown'); ............. function shutdown() { .............. .............. $_total_time = $_gEndTime - $_gStartTime; .............. switch (connection_status ()) { case CONNECTION_NORMAL: .... break; .... case CONNECTION_TIMEOUT: .... break; ...... } } Note: I cannot use $_SERVER['REQUEST_TIME'] because my PHP version is incompatible. That sucks - I know. 1) Well, my first question obviously is is why is my PHP script executing even after the set timeout limit? 2) Apache has the Timeout directive which is 300 seconds but the PHP binary does not read the Apache config and this should not be a problem. 3) Is there a possibility that something is sending PHP into a sleep mode? 4) Am I calculating the execution time in a wrong way? Is there a better way to do this? I'm stumped at this point. PHP Wizards - please help.

  • PL/SQL profiler missing data

    We are using pl/sql profiler to collect metrics. We noticed that on one of the environment the plsql_profiler_runs table is populated with the total execution time but the finer details that gets collected in the table plsql_profiler_data is missing. Any idea why this would be happening? We do use dbms_profiler.flush_data() before stopping the profiler and have seen this work fine in another environment.

    Is it possible to change the jre parameter values after the exe file is generated through Launch4j? The ideal scenario is like this: The default parameter values are applied when the program is started. However, when the user wants to change some jre parameter values, he goes to a .ini file, MyProgram.ini for example, changes the values there, and the new values will be applied next time the program is started. I think eclipse uses the same way for its memory and some other parameter settings.

A search done at Microsoft Visual C++ Developer Center doesn't give any results for "sizeOfInput". I am not a C/C++ expert, and am curious to find out why this happens - any C/C++ experts who can "shed some light" on this? Unrelated note: I seriously thought of rewriting the whole code to use quicksort or merge sort before posting it here. But, after all, it is not Stooge sort... Edit: I know the code is not correct (it reads beyond the last element), but I am curious why the variable name makes a difference.

  • Please help with iPhone Memory & Images, memory usage crashing app

    I have an issue with memory usage relating to images and I've searched the docs and watched the videos from cs193p and the iphone dev site on memory mgmt and performance. I've searched online and posted on forums, but I still can't figure it out. The app uses core data and simply lets the user associate text with a picture and stores the list of items in a table view that lets you add and delete items. Clicking on a row shows the image and related text. that's it. Everything runs fine on the simulator and on the device as well. I ran the analyzer and it looked good, so i then starting looking at performance. I ran leaks and everything looked good. My issue is when running Object Allocations as every time i select a row and the view with the image is shown, the live bytes jumps up a few MB and never goes down and my app eventually crashes due to memory usage. Sorting the live bytes column, i see 2 2.72MB mallocs (5.45Mb total), 14 CFDatas (3.58MB total), 1 2.74MB malloc and everything else is real small. the problem is all the related info in instruments is really technical and all the problem solving examples i've seen are just missing a release and nothing complicated. Instruments shows Core Data as the responsible library for all but one (libsqlite3.dylib the other) with [NSSQLCore _prepareResultsFromResultSet:usingFetchPlan:withMatchingRows:] as the caller for all but one (fetchResultSetReallocCurrentRow the other) and im just not sure how to track down what the problem is. i've looked at the stack traces and opened the last instance of my code and found 2 culprits (below).   • Can I access the Cocoa Accessibility API from with Java on OSX?

    I need to write an app which can observe and manipulate the positions of windows on screen, and I've been told that this requires using Cocoa's Accessibility API. Unfortunately I'm a Java programmer, and Objective C scares me ;) Is it possible to access this Cocoa API from within Java? I know that back when Apple cared about Java it maintained a "bridge" to cocoa, but I'm not sure if this does what I need. Oh, and my IDE is Eclipse, in case that is relevant.

  • SerialVersionUID with "private static final long" still gets InvalidClassException

    I have compiled and jarred the various projects in my Java application, generating serialVersionUIDs automatically through Eclipse for all my classes derived from Serializable. I read the answers to this question, and verified that serialVersionUids are all private static final long. Nevertheless, I get an error like this when I try to run: java.io.InvalidClassException: com.acme.product.Widget; local class incompatible: stream classdesc serialVersionUID = 5226096973188250357, local class serialVersionUID = -5432967318654384362 What am I missing?
