I couldn't locate any information about these methods on MSDN and their simple names makes them resistant to Googling. I'm writing a compiler for a language which supports multidimensional arrays, so I'd like to find some official documentation about these methods, under what conditions I can expect them to exist and what I can expect their signatures to be. In particular, I'd like to know whether its possible to get a MethodInfo object for Get or Set for use with Reflection.Emit without having to create an instance of the array with correct type and dimensionality on which to reflect, as is done in the linked example.

    Please note where I have the NSLOG. All it is displaying in the log is the first three items in the nameSection. After some testing, I discovered it is displaying how many keys there are because if I add a key to the plist, it will log a fourth item in log. nameSection should be an array of the strings that make up the key array in the plist file. the plist file has 3 dictionaries, each with several arrays of strings.     i have seen some parsing code, thats really long, but it doesn't involve replacing stuff inside an opened file using file_get_contents() for example. im talking about say parsing a .doc into .html format, they read the file then output it in html. i have tried this using arrays and preg_replace but it just doesn't seem as clean as other code. anyone know the basic concept of parsing? thanks, tell me if im not clear

    According to their documentation, you should use Array hydration rather than record hydration when retrieving data for read-only purposes. However, this means I have to access the attributes of the retrieved object using arrays and string keys: $user['Phonenumbers'][0]['number'] instead of the OO style: $user->PhoneNumbers[0]->number Now I'm kinda new to PHP, but in other languages I've worked with the 2nd notation would be preferable because typos would be caught at compile time while typos in string literals would not be noticed until runtime. Does this apply to PHP/Doctrine?

  • Alternative to Page_Load in ASP.NET (and a good WTF story)

    Woo, I have a doozy of a problem (might even be one for the Daily WTF) and I'm hoping there's a solution. (My apologies for the long post...) I have been working on a website that I inherited about a month ago. One of the parts I have been working on is fixing one of the controls (essentially a dynamic header bar) so that it displays additional information as requested by my users. As part of doing this project, I created a Site.master file so that I wouldn't have to recode the header bar into every single page. When I first started doing this, it seemingly worked very well. All the pages I had developed looked great and the bar updated as it should displaying the information as it should. Well, when I dropped the Site.master (and this control) into older site pages (ones I did not specifically develop) I noticed that it looked bad on some of them, but not all of them. When I say it looked bad, basically, the control would left-align itself to the page rather than center as it should. I spent a couple hours debugging to no avail - CSS looked correct, the HTML appeared to be okay, I didn't see anything in the Javascript (although, I did miss something as I'll point out in a second), and even the old code looked correct (to the best that it could - it's not very well written). Another coworker took a look at the site and couldn't find anything at first, either. It wasn't until I just thought to look at the rendered source code of the page (I had been working in the developer view up to this point in IE8) that it became clear what was wrong. The original developer performs searches on many of the pages. To accomplish this, he queries the database for ALL the data and then loads them into Javascript arrays within the page so he can get access to them. This in itself is a huge problem because we're talking about thousands of items, and it obviously isn't scalable (and, yes, the site is slow). However, it finally clicked what was screwing up the Site.master - when he loads the data into the Javascript arrays, he writes out the data to the HTML upon Page_Load using numerous Response.Write(string) calls. The WTF (and what was messing me up) is that he inserts the Javascript before the DOCTYPE causing IE to go into quirks mode! So, because I need to at least get this release out (I'll fix the real problem later), I was wondering: is there a way I can force this Javascript to be inserted elsewhere into the HTML—after the DOCTYPE at the very least? Right now, all the Response.Write() calls are being done in the Page_Load method. I just need them to be inserted later.

  • Optimising speeds in HDF5 using Pytables

    The problem is with respect to the writing speed of the computer (10 * 32 bit machine) and the postgresql query performance.I will explain the scenario in detail. I have data about 80 Gb (along with approprite database indexes in place). I am trying to read it from Postgresql database and writing it into HDF5 using Pytables.I have 1 table and 5 variable arrays in one hdf5 file.The implementation of Hdf5 is not multithreaded or enabled for symmetric multi processing.I have rented about 10 computers for a day and trying to write them inorder to speed up my data handling. As for as the postgresql table is concerned the overall record size is 140 million and I have 5 primary- foreign key referring tables.I am not using joins as it is not scalable So for a single lookup i do 6 lookup without joins and write them into hdf5 format. For each lookup i do 6 inserts into each of the table and its corresponding arrays. The queries are really simple select * from x.train where tr_id=1 (primary key & indexed) select q_t from x.qt where q_id=2 (non-primary key but indexed) (similarly five queries) Each computer writes two hdf5 files and hence the total count comes around 20 files. Some Calculations and statistics: Total number of records : 14,37,00,000 Total number of records per file : 143700000/20 =71,85,000 The total number of records in each file : 71,85,000 * 5 = 3,59,25,000 Current Postgresql database config : My current Machine : 8GB RAM with i7 2nd generation Processor. I made changes to the following to postgresql configuration file : shared_buffers : 2 GB effective_cache_size : 4 GB Note on current performance: I have run it for about ten hours and the performance is as follows: The total number of records written for each file is about 6,21,000 * 5 = 31,05,000 The bottle neck is that i can only rent it for 10 hours per day (overnight) and if it processes in this speed it will take about 11 days which is too high for my experiments. Please suggest me on how to improve. Questions: 1. Should i use Symmetric multi processing on those desktops(it has 2 cores with about 2 GB of RAM).In that case what is suggested or prefereable? 2. If i change my postgresql configuration file and increase the RAM will it enhance my process. 3. Should i use multi threading..     Attention advanced Freemarker gurus: I want to use a single freemarker template to be able to output tables of arbitrary pojos, with the columns to display defined separately than the data. The problem is that I can't figure out how to get a handle to a function on a pojo at runtime, and then have freemarker invoke that function (lambda style). From skimming the docs it seems that Freemarker supports functional programming, but I can't seem to forumulate the proper incantation. I whipped up a simplistic concrete example.
