    Here is the description of the problem in terms of Mercurial: Given: Two repos A and B, where B is a fork of A The current directory is a working directory for the tip of A. Needed: Pull in B and update to its most recent head REV. This is what I want to do in term of Mercurial: A> hg pull B A> hg heads # Notice the most recent head of B A> hg update **REV** How can I do it in GIT? More concretely: A is the master branch of https://github.com/yui/yui3-gallery.git B is the master branch of https://github.com/jafl/yui3-gallery.git I need to update to the most recent revision of B, when I have a local clone of A I know it should be trivial, still I cannot figure it out. Anyone?

  • Program not running from expected directory?

    I am working on a web-based program, using Java. I am not sure exactly how to phrase this, but I expect the program to be running from within the c:/Resin/webapps/apps directory. However, when I reference a file in the program like this: "../files/randomfile.pdf", it cannot find that file. It works when I reference it like this: "c:/Resin/webapps/files/randomfile.pdf". How to I change the "running location"? (And what is the technical term for this?)

    is it possible to have a common view for both master and detail view controllers. What if I need to add a header image(at top, the very first view) common for both the master and detail view controllers. When the device is in the portrait mode the width of the header image view has to shrink to fit to the detail view controller's view and when the orientation changes to landscape the width of the same header image view has to be expanded that is the width of it has to be 1024. Please tell me whether doing this is possible. or any workaround for this?

    I'm working on a rich text editor like web application, basically a XML editor written in javascript. My javascript code needs to wrap a selection of nodes from the contentEditable div container. I'm using the methods described at MDC. But since I need to synchronize the div containers content to my XML DOM I would like to avoid partial selections as described in w3c ranges: <BODY><H1>Title</H1><P>Blah xyz.</P></BODY ............^----------------^............ This selection starts inside H1 and ends inside P, I'd like it to include H1,P completely. Is there an easy way to extend the selection to cover partially selected children completely? (The code doesn't need to work with opera/IE)

    I have an app which will go to our clients and then they can have their clients install it. Meaning there would be multiple versions of the master app but with customization per client. example 200 of our clients get the master app and then can customize it (text and images only via web) Will Apple allow something like this? Is there another way to get around this distribution model? I guess a good example of it would be a real estate agent having an app that's customized and on the app store but it's still Brand XYZ's app. thanks in advance

I would like to create a user interface editor, where the user can add database points to the UI and arrange them and format them as they want. If a new point is added to the database they can right click on the UI and say "add this point" and choose from a list of database points. I'm looking for some pointers on where to start on creating this editor application, could something clever be done using XAML to dynamically create std WPF controls at runtime?     I have a master / detail table and want to update some summary values in the master table against the detail table. I know I can update them like this: update MasterTbl set TotalX = (select sum(X) from DetailTbl where DetailTbl.MasterID = MasterTbl.ID) update MasterTbl set TotalY = (select sum(Y) from DetailTbl where DetailTbl.MasterID = MasterTbl.ID) update MasterTbl set TotalZ = (select sum(Z) from DetailTbl where DetailTbl.MasterID = MasterTbl.ID) But, I'd like to do it in a single statement, something like this: update MasterTbl set TotalX = sum(DetailTbl.X), TotalY = sum(DetailTbl.Y), TotalZ = sum(DetailTbl.Z) from DetailTbl where DetailTbl.MasterID = MasterTbl.ID group by MasterID but that doesn't work. I've also tried versions that omit the "group by" clause. I'm not sure whether I'm bumping up against the limits of my particular database (Advantage), or the limits of my SQL. Probably the latter. Can anyone help?

This is what I am doing at the moment.. end = smooth(data,window_len=40) plot.plot(time[0:len(end)],end) plot.savefig('hanning(40).pdf') #problem line I have to run the program for several different numbers instead of the two 40's. So I'd like to do a loop but inserting the variable like this doesn't work: plot.savefig('hanning',num,'.pdf') Thanks!

    all! I'll try to be as detailed as possible in describing my predicament. I have a little background knowledge in Visual Basic, but none really in VBA or VBscript in Outlook 2010. I'm working with Outlook 2010. I created a custom form (this is my first time). I have a combo box named ComboBox1 and a text box named TextBox1. I am trying to auto-populate TextBox1 with a number based on the selection made from ComboBox1 (ex. I select Value 1 from ComboBox1 and TextBox1 populates with 124). I made an attempt using this code in the Visual Basic Editor (VBA version 7.0): Sub popBox() If ComboBox1 = "Value 1" Then TextBox1 = "124" End If End Sub My question is what am I doing wrong? Should I be using the VBscript editor, or is using VBA the proper thing to do? Is what I am asking even possible? Thank you all in advance!

    I'm running MySql 5.1. I have Master and a Slave on 2 machines and I set up replication. I do periodic backup on my slave server. I stop mysql, I copy all the files and I restart mysql. In case I lose the Master, I can set up a new one from the last backup. What If I lose the Slave? Can I restart the slave from the last backup? Am I supposed to keep track of the position of the replication every time I to a backup?

  • New to Git. Made a big mistake with git commit and ended up at an older commit

    I'm new to Git and I've made a huge mistake. Git kept prompting me with git - rejected master -> master (non-fast-forward). But, I still committed by using: --force This was disastrous, the whole project changed back to the stage it was at about a week ago. I've lost so many changes. I seem to have been pushed back to an earlier commit. Is there anyway I can get back to one of my newer commits? As I have made an enormous amount of changes and need to get them back. Thanks.

    I'm writing a macro in Visual Basic for PowerPoint 2010. I'd like to initialize a really big list of strings like: big_ol_array = Array( _ "string1", _ "string2", _ "string3", _ "string4" , _ ..... "string9999" _ ) ...but I get the "Too many line continuations" error in the editor. When I try to just initialize the big array with no line breaks, the VB editor can't handle such a long line (1000+) characters. Does anyone know a good way to initialize a huge list of strings in VB? Thanks in advance!

  • Samba doesnt require password on xbmc but does on ubuntu

    I have samba setup on a fedora 13 machine, and I use it to share with my xbmc client in the family room. When I set this up there no password or anything was required I merely entered in paths such as: smb://<host>/<share> and all worked. Now on my ubuntu 10.04 machine when I try to access the same hosts, for example through smbmount though I receive an error. smbmount //media/Music ~/Music/ # media is in my /etc/hosts and resolves to # correct IP address for the machine I receive error: operation not permitted after pressing enter when it prompts for password. The current load/uptime line on the server at the time of this email is 07:00:37 up 11:30, 0 users, load average: 14.64, 16.79, 20.07" I don't know, I have tried switching these config values many different times, but nothing seems to work.   • Pushing DNSSEC updates with offline keys

    In a non-professional capacity, I look after the DNS of some 18 domains: mostly personal/vanity domains for immediate family. I outsource the whole shebang to an inexpensive managed hosting provider with a web interface through which I manage the zones; since the provider also offers DNSSEC, I have successfully deployed that too. These domains are so unimportant that an attack targetted against them seems much less likely than a general compromise of my provider's systems, at which point the records of all their customers might be changed to misdirect traffic (perhaps with extremely long TTLs). DNSSEC could protect against such an attack, but only if the zone's private keys are not held by the hosting provider. So, I wonder: how can one keep DNSSEC private keys offline yet still transfer signed zones to an outsourced DNS host? The most obvious answer (to me, at least) is to run one's own shadow/hidden master (from which the provider can slave) and then copy offline-signed zonefiles to the master as required. The problem is that the only machine I (want to*) control is my personal laptop, which usually connects from a typical home ADSL (behind NAT over a dynamically-assigned IP address). Having them slave from that (e.g. with a very long Expiry time on the zone for periods when my laptop is offline/unavailable) would not only require a Dynamic DNS record from which they can slave (if indeed they can slave from a named host rather than a static IP address), but would also involve me running a DNS server on my laptop and opening both it and my home network up to the incoming zone transfer requests: not ideal. I would prefer a much more push-oriented design, whereby my laptop initiates transfer of offline-signed zonefiles/updates to the provider's servers. I looked into whether nsupdate could fit the bill: documentation is a little sketchy, but my testing (with BIND 9.7) suggests it can indeed update DNSSEC zones, but only where the server holds the keys to perform the zone signing; I have not found a way to have it take an update including the relevant RRSIG/NSEC/etc. records and have the server accept them. Is this a supported use-case? If not, I suspect the only solutions which could fit the bill will involve non-DNS-based transfer of the zone updates and would welcome recommendations that are supported by (hopefully inexpensive) hosting providers: SFTP/SCP? rsync? RDBMS replication? Proprietary API? Finally, what would be the practical implications of such a setup? Key rotation is jumping out at me as being an obvious difficulty, especially if my laptop is offline for extended periods. But the zones are extremely stable, so perhaps I could get away with long-lived ZSKs**...? * Whilst I could run a shadow/hidden master on e.g. an outsourced VPS, I dislike the overhead of having to secure / manage / monitor / maintain yet another system; not to mention the additional financial costs of so doing. ** Okay, this would enable a concerted attacker to replay outdated records—but the risk and impact of such are both tolerable in the case of these domains.
