  • Regex for tollfree numbers in java

    I have this regex to test for telephone # that should be a toll free. public static final Pattern patternTollFree = Pattern.compile("^((877)|(800)|(866)|(888))"); So I only want to get those # where the user may have left the 1 off of the front of the string, but I have tried several things and I can't get java to match. public String changeRingTo( String changedRinger ) { if ( null == changedRinger || changedRinger.length() != 10) return changedRinger; if ( patternTollFree.matcher(changedRinger).region(0, 2).matches() ) changedRinger = '1' + changedRinger; return changedRinger; } I can't get this 2nd test case below to succeed.   • How to improve my Python regex syntax?

    I very new to Python, and fairly new to regex. (I have no Perl experience.) I am able to use regular expressions in a way that works, but I'm not sure that my code is particularly Pythonic or consise. For example, If I wanted to read in a text file and print out text that appears directly between the words 'foo' and 'bar' in each line (presuming this occurred one or zero times a line) I would write the following: fileList = open(inFile, 'r') pattern = re.compile(r'(foo)(.*)(bar)') for line in fileList: result = pattern.search(line) if (result != None): print result.groups()[1] Is there a better way? The if is necessary to avoid calling groups() on None. But I suspect there is a more concise way to obtain the matching String when there is one, without throwing errors when there isn't. I'm not hoping for Perl-like unreadability. I just want to accomplish this common task in the commonest and simplest way.

  • C++ vs Matlab vs Python as a main language for Computer Vision Research

    Hi all, Firstly, sorry for a somewhat long question but I think that many people are in the same situation as me and hopefully they can also gain some benefit from this. I'll be starting my PhD very soon which involves the fields of computer vision, pattern recognition and machine learning. Currently, I'm using opencv (2.1) C++ interface and I especially like its powerful Mat class and the overloaded operations available for matrix and image operations and seamless transformations. I've also tried (and implemented many small vision projects) using opencv python interface (new bindings; opencv 2.1) and I really enjoy python's ability to integrate opencv, numpy, scipy and matplotlib. But recently, I went back to opencv C++ interface because I felt that the official python new bindings were not stable enough and no overloaded operations are available for matrices and images, not to mention the lack of machine learning modules and slow speeds in certain operations. I've also used Matlab extensively in the past and although I've used mex files and other means to speed up the program, I just felt that Matlab's performance was inadequate for real-time vision tasks, be it for fast prototyping or not. When the project becomes larger and larger, many tasks have to be re-written in C and compiled into Mex files increasingly and Matlab becomes nothing more than a glue language. Here comes the sub-questions: For carrying out research in these fields (machine learning, vision, pattern recognition), what is your main or ideal programming language for rapid prototyping of ideas and testing algorithms contained in papers? For computer vision research work, can you list down the pros and cons of using the following languages? C++ (with opencv + gsl + svmlib + other libraries) vs Matlab (with all its toolboxes) vs python (with the imcomplete opencv bindings + numpy + scipy + matplotlib). Are there computer vision PhD/postgrad students here who are using only C++ (with all its availabe libraries including opencv) without even needing to resort to Matlab or python? In other words, given the current existing computer vision or machine learning libraries, is C++ alone sufficient for fast prototyping of ideas? If you're currently using Java or C# for your research, can you list down the reasons why they should be used and how they compare to other languages in terms of available libraries? What is the de facto vision/machine learning programming language and its associated libraries used in your research group? Thanks in advance. This was my answer Create a List of all the records using linq Create a command object which would be perform moving files using foreach, invoke a delegate to move the files - use endinvoke to capture any exception and update the db accordingly I was told that command pattern and delegate did not fit the bill here - i was aksed to think and implement a more favorable GoF pattern. Not sure what they were looking for - In this day and age, do candidates keep a lot of info on head as one always has google to find any answer and come up with solution.

  • Silverlight authentication during startup - how to mimic syncronous behavior?

    I have a Silverlight app that is using the MVVM pattern. I have a WCF service which will allow me to authenticate users (I don't have direct control over that service - assume it is a black box that just returns me the user info and a list of privileges the user has). So, when the app starts up, I want to pull security data from that service. Right now, when I do this, my views and view models can end up getting initialized before the service returns with the security data. This causes problems because the view models need to disable buttons and make things visible/invisible based on the user having certain privileges. Is there a pattern that allows me to prevent the initialization of the views / view models until the WCF call has returned? How would you go about solving this problem as elegantly as possible?

  • PHP preg_replace function returns different values with the same data set

    I need to use preg_match PHP function. I have a simple pattern to check the string and the thing is as follows: when I run the script at first, it gives me no match (it is supposed to match though) but when I hold F5 in my browser for a while, out of a sudden it says there's a match within the string. As I keep pushing F5, it gives either true or false. Say the pattern is /^(.*)\/[A-Za-z0-9]*$/ (I guess it's not the best way but still) and the subject is galeria/zdjecia/. I believe preg_match should return true with this set of data. Note that the data does not change when pressing F5. Why is that?

The question is if there is a better way to make it work? since this method call many times and slow my program.   • Changing a Container while using Visitor

    Hi everyone, I implemented the Visitor pattern in C++ using a STL-like iterator for storing the Visitor's current position in the container. Now I would like to change the container while I iterate over it, and I'm especially interested in deleting items from the container, even the one I'm currently visiting. Now obviously this will invalidate the Visitors internal iterator, because it was pointing to exactly this item. Currently, I store a list of all iterators in the container and update them, as soon as anything is added to or removed from the list. So in a way this is similar to the Observer pattern applied to the iterator (as Observer) and the list (as Observable). Alternatively I considered having the visitor() methods return some hint to the Visitor about what happend to the current item and how to proceed iterating, but that doesn't sound like such a good idea either, because the visit() implementation shouldn't really care about finding the next item. So, my question is: What's the best way to keep a visitor working, even when items are added to the container or removed from it. Regards, Florian

  • How to avoid code duplication for one-off methods with a slightly different signature

    I am wrapping a number of functions from a vender API in C#. Each of the wrapping functions will fit the pattern: public IEnumerator<IValues> GetAggregateValues(string pointID, DateTime startDate, DateTime endDate, TimeSpan period) { // Validate Data // Break up Requesting Time-Span // Make Requests // Read Results (through another method call } 5 of the 6 requests are aggregate data pulls and have the same signature, so it makes sense to put them in one method and pass the aggregate type to avoid duplication of code. The 6th method however follows the exact same pattern with the same result-set, but is not an aggregate, so no time period is passed to the function (changing the signature). Is there an elegant way to handle this kind of situation without coding a one-off function to handle the non-aggregate request?

    I have a central dispatcher servlet that has a servlet mapping of : <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>dispatcher</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> When i try to use the blob store service's createUploadUrl("/uploadComplete") it maps to a URL for e.g *'/_ah/upload/agp0d2VldG15cGljchsLEhVfX0Jsb2JVcGxvYWRTZXNzaW9uX18YEgw'*. Before the Blob store service can handle the upload and redirect to /uploadComplete; my dispatcher servlet gets called and i am therefore not being able to upload anything. Is there a servlet/ filter that i can map to /_ah/upload/* in my web.xml ? How do i avoid the dispatcher servlet from getting called before the Blob store service can do its thing?

    Yesterday I created a simple image servlet and attempted to deploy it. I am getting an error on JBoss startup, and then further errors on trying to invoke the servlet. As a matter of fact, I even added some code to one of my JSPs to attempt to instantiate the Servlet and call the doGet method. This actually works and outputs the correct debug sequences to the log indicating that the Servlet constructor and doGet methods were called. I also tried following some instructions for creating/deploying a very simple HelloWorld servlet, and that has exactly the same problem. Note that web.xml already contained a servlet put there by JBoss: org.jboss.web.tomcat.service.StatusServlet -- that Servlet does not give any errors in the log. As an experiment, I removed ".web" from that path and ended up getting exactly the same error as I'm getting on my Servlet. So it would appear that JBoss is not able to locate my Servlet given the specified path. Just for kicks, I've tried all sorts of other paths, like just plain MyImageServlet, controller.MyImageServlet, and more. Also, the servlet was originally named ImageServlet, but I attempted the name change thinking maybe there was some conflict with an existing ImageServlet. In all cases, the behavior is the same. After all of my research yesterday, I would say that this appears to be a problem with the JBoss servlet container, and I also learned that JBoss 5.1.0.GA should come bundled with a tomcat servlet container. I installed JBoss on my PC (Windows XP) myself less than 2 months ago (from jboss.org) and used it pretty much as is. Note that I am running on JDK 1.6, so I did use the jboss-jdk6 installation version. I am running on Windows, but I also deploy to a Linux virtual dedicated server. I deployed the current version of my program, including the servlet to the Linux box, but I get the exact same errors. I'm reluctant to just try reinstalling JBoss, since it's hard to place the blame on the JBoss installation when I get the same errors on two completely different installations. I am a bit suspicious of the bundled tomcat servlet container, because using eclipse, I haven't been able to locate any indication that there is a tomcat bundled into JBoss. I did locate servlet-api.jar in the JBoss common/lib directory. This is on the eclipse build path. One possibly useful note: I had previously used a standalone tomcat server for other projects using the same eclipse, so maybe it's some sort of eclipse issue? But, as I said, I do get the same errors when I deploy to the Linux server, and that deployment process just involves ftping files to the server and then putting them into the deployed war package and restarting JBoss. This may be due to absent or incorrectly specified EndpointIdentity in the EndpointAddress used to create the channel. Please verify the EndpointIdentity specified or implied by the EndpointAddress correctly identifies the remote endpoint. If I host the service on ASP .NET Dev server, it work well but if I host on IIS above mentioned error occurs. Thanks, Ram

  • How to sort my paws?

    In my previous question I got an excellent answer that helped me detect where a paw hit a pressure plate, but now I'm struggling to link these results to their corresponding paws: I manually annotated the paws (RF=right front, RH= right hind, LF=left front, LH=left hind). As you can see there's clearly a pattern repeating pattern and it comes back in aknist every measurement. Here's a link to a presentation of 6 trials that were manually annotated. My initial thought was to use heuristics to do the sorting, like: There's a ~60-40% ratio in weight bearing between the front and hind paws; The hind paws are generally smaller in surface; The paws are (often) spatially divided in left and right. However, I’m a bit skeptical about my heuristics, as they would fail on me as soon as I encounter a variation I hadn’t thought off. They also won’t be able to cope with measurements from lame dogs, whom probably have rules of their own. Furthermore, the annotation suggested by Joe sometimes get's messed up and doesn't take into account what the paw actually looks like. Based on the answers I received on my question about peak detection within the paw, I’m hoping there are more advanced solutions to sort the paws. Especially because the pressure distribution and the progression thereof are different for each separate paw, almost like a fingerprint. I hope there's a method that can use this to cluster my paws, rather than just sorting them in order of occurrence. So I'm looking for a better way to sort the results with their corresponding paw. For anyone up to the challenge, I have pickled a dictionary with all the sliced arrays that contain the pressure data of each paw (bundled by measurement) and the slice that describes their location (location on the plate and in time). To clarfiy: walk_sliced_data is a dictionary that contains ['ser_3', 'ser_2', 'sel_1', 'sel_2', 'ser_1', 'sel_3'], which are the names of the measurements. Each measurement contains another dictionary, [0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10] (example from 'sel_1') which represent the impacts that were extracted. Also note that 'false' impacts, such as where the paw is partially measured (in space or time) can be ignored. They are only useful because they can help recognizing a pattern, but won't be analyzed. And for anyone interested, I’m keeping a blog with all the updates regarding the project!

    Hi guys, i have this simple type from an external webservice: <xsd:element name="card_number" maxOccurs="1" minOccurs="1"> <xsd:simpleType> <xsd:restriction base="tns:PanType"> <xsd:pattern value="\d{16}"></xsd:pattern> <xsd:whiteSpace value="collapse"></xsd:whiteSpace> </xsd:restriction> </xsd:simpleType> </xsd:element> but whe i launch wsdl2py -b filename.wsdl i got this error: ZSI.generate.Wsdl2PythonError: unsupported local simpleType restriction: <schema targetNamespace="https://xxxxx.yyyyy.zz/sss/"><complexType name="PaymentReq"><sequence><element name="card_number"><simpleType> How can i fix this? I tried to change from simpleType to compleType and wsdl2py generate python code without problem. In this way i can't be able to use card_number in my python object. Thanks for helping.

  • Trouble enabling Grails logging

    I have this logging configuration in my Config.groovy file. This is a development environment, started as such. I have verified the file exists and there are 775 perms on the file, but nothing is getting output to the file. // set per-environment serverURL stem for creating absolute links environments { production { grails.serverURL = "http://www.changeme.com" } development { grails.serverURL = "http://localhost:8080/${appName}" logFilePath = "/Users/davea/Tomcat/logs/log4j.log" } test { grails.serverURL = "http://localhost:8080/${appName}" } } // log4j configuration log4j = { console name:'Appender1', layout:pattern(conversionPattern: '%-4r [%t] %-5p %c %x - %m%n') rollingFile name:'Appender2', maxFileSize:1024 * 1024, file:logFilePath, layout:pattern(conversionPattern: '%-4r [%t] %-5p %c %x - %m%n') root { debug 'Appender1', 'Appender2' } } Can anyone tell what's wrong with my configuration?
