Using GDI+ vs HTML page

I am working on an application which is UI intensive (i.e. we need to customize all the control to look different). For this is I planned to use GDI+ in win32. But one of the suggestion form our team member is, Instead of using GDI+ he asked me to have a web browser control, in that he asked me to display local html.That html page contains customized controls. Form his suggestion I created a web control and used some UI intensive local html pages. That looks good. But my question is, is it is a good idea to use web control to solve this?

I was attempting to find an answer to this, and I did to some degree, but definitely not anywhere good enough to form a respectable, sensible and clear answer. If I am using Windows, Mac, Linux, or nearly any modern made OS for desktop IBM-compatible PCs, laptops, even tablets and smartphones, there's virtual memory. Clearly, compiling, at least on Windows I know this, an executable object file, such as a simple C "Hello World" output to a terminal, will be linked with the standard library, and several other Window's system software, dynamic linked libraries, and the like. However, how does linking all of these executables together or resources form a connectable interaction with, say, a device driver or any other stuff on the lower level?

for vs. foreach vs. LINQ

When I write code in Visual Studio, ReSharper (God bless it!) often suggests me to change my old-school for loop in the more compact foreach form. And often, when I accept this change, ReSharper goes a step forward, and suggests me to change it again, in a shiny LINQ form. So, I wonder: are there some real advantages, in these improvements? In pretty simple code execution, I cannot see any speed boost (obviously), but I can see the code becoming less and less readable... So I wonder: is it worth it?

How to prevent jQuery FancyBox from closing immediately after submit?

Hi! I'm loading an inline registration form in a FancyBox from jQuery. However after submitting the form, the box immediately closes while there is some feedback that I want to show the user in the FancyBox itself. This feedback is generated on the server side and is printed in the FancyBox. How can I make the box only closing when their is no feedback anymore? I was thinking about using ajax to just refresh the FancyBox itself and not the whole page after refreshing. But I just can't figure out how this ajax $.ajax({type, cache, url, data, success}); works... Also it seems like there's no reaction from the 'submit bind' in the javascript. I hope someone can help me with this problem. I paste my code below. If any questions, plz ask.. Thx in advance! FBML is not rendered in Facebook App in iframe - please help

I'm developing an Facebook Application in PHP. It's loaded as an iframe and not as FBML. The normal interaction with Facebook works. I think the problem is that the div working as modal is outside the form. What do you think?

Marking multi-level nested forms as "dirty" in Rails

I have a three-level multi-nested form in Rails. The setup is like this: Projects have many Milestones, and Milestones have many Notes. The goal is to have everything editable within the page with JavaScript, where we can add multiple new Milestones to a Project within the page, and add new Notes to new and existing Milestones. Everything works as expected, except that when I add new notes to an existing Milestone (new Milestones work fine when adding notes to them), the new notes won't save unless I edit any of the fields that actually belong to the Milestone to mark the form "dirty"/edited. Is there a way to flag the Milestone so that the new Notes that have been added will save? jQuery Validation hiding or tearing down jquery Modal Dialog on submit

Basically when clicking the modal created submit button, and calling jQuery('#FormName').submit(), it will run the validation and then call the method assigned in the submitHandler. After that it is either creating a new modal div or hiding the form, and I don't get why. I have debugged it and noticed that after the method call in the submitHandler, the form .is(':hidden') = true and this is true for the modal div also. I'm positive I've done this before but can't seem to figure out what I've done wrong this time. The odd this is a modal div is showing up on the screen, but it's completely devoid of content. (Even after putting in random text outside of the form. For example, using the validator to add messages to the error div. (Success or not) Without doing this, the modal dialog apparently thinks that it's done with what it needs to do and just hides everything. Not sure exactly why, but to stop this behavior some kind of focus has to be assigned to something within the div itself.

OpenID and Iframes

hey guys, I'm having a little bit of trouble making OpenID work from within an iframe. basically I have some heavy handed content loaded on the main page and I want to build a log in system where the page doesn't need to be reloaded (and thus reload all of that content again). I fell in love with OpenID from using stack exchange websites, and have intergrated it relatively well into other projects. I'm assuming that this is a counter measure put in place to stop me stealing login details (thats not what i'm trying to achieve btw, hence the preamble), and thats fair enough, but still bloody aggravating. is there any thing here that i'm doing retardedly, is there some way round this, and if neither of the above, is my only other options to create new windows or build my own login/registration. I'm trying my best to have a good looking modal login form but for some reasons it seems that no matter how I nest divs, I cannot obtain the proper shape. What I need is a big "lock" image side-by-side with a username/password form. The best I could do adds a horizontal scroller by the modal bottom and shows the input gadgets fairly distant from the image partly hidden on the right side of the modal canvas. Inspecting with FireBug it seems that the spans in row-fluid are ok but the "control-label" and "controls" class adds way too much space on the left by width (for the labels) and margin-left (for the controls). How would you solve it? Am I doing something wrong with divs and classes nesting? How to schedule dynamic function with cron job?

I want to know how I can schedule a dynamic(auto populated data) function to auto run everyday at saved time? Let's say I have a form that once the button is clicked it sends the data to the function, which the posts the data. jQuery , Trigger change event on newly created elements

Hi Guys, I have a button in a form that when clicked adds another set of form fields, In these form fields there are 2 drop downs where the contents of the 2nd dropdown rely on what is selected in the first dropdown... What i want to do is when the new form field button is clicked for the new items to be added and then the change event to be triggered on the drop down that was created so what only that drop down changes and not all the drop downs with the same name currently in that form. C#: Parallel forms, multithreading and "applications in application"

First, what I need is - n WebBrowser-s, each in its own window doing its own job. The user should be able to see them all, or just one of them (or none), and to execute commands on each one. There is a main form, without a browser, this one contains control panel for my application. The key feautre is, each browser logs on to secured web page and it needs to stay logged in as long as possible. Well, I've done it, but I'm afraid something is wrong with my approach. Session inherits from Form, so it creates a form, puts WebBrowser into it, and has methods to operate on websites. WebBrowser requires to be run in STA thread, so we provide one for each browser. The most interesting part of it is Application.Run(s). It makes the newly created forms alive and interactive. The next Application.ExitThread() is called after browser window is closed and its controls disposed. Main application stays alive to perform the rest of the cleanup job. When user select "Exit" or "Shutdown" option - first the browser threads are ended, so Application.ExitThread() is called. It all works, but everywhere I can read about "main GUI thread" - and here - I've created many GUI threads. I handle communication between main form and my new forms (sessions) with thread-safe methods using Invoke(). It all works, so is it right or is it wrong? Is everything right with using Application.Run() more than once in one application? :) An ugly hack or a normal practice? This code dies if I start a WebBrowser from the session form thread. It beats me why. It works however if I start WebBrowser (by changing its Url property) from any other thread. I'd like to know more what is really happening in such application. But most of all - I'd like to know if my idea of "applications in application" is OK. I'm not sure what exactly does Application.Run() do. Without it forms created in new threads were dead unresponsive. How is it possible I can call Application.Run() many times? It seems to do exactly what it should, but it seems a little undocumented feature to me. I'm almost sure, that the crashes are caused by WebBrowser component itself (since it's not completely "managed" and "native"). But maybe it's something else.

CSS: Horizontal UL: Getting it centered

I'm trying to make a horizontal menu/list. It has a mix of independent buttons and buttons that are wrapped in their own individual forms. With much hacking I got all of the buttons, in forms and not in forms to align horizontally. I haven't been able to get the whole thing to center on the page though. Loop results executing twice

I creating a simple site with PHP where the users can submit blogs and other users (who are logged in) can post comments on them. I have made a link called "comments" below each blog that when clicked will show / hide all the comments relevant to the specific blog (also if the user is logged in, it will show a form field in which they can submit new comments). So basically each blog will have multiple comments. I have done two different codes for this but they both have the same problem that each comment appears twice (everything else works fine). Ajax post not posting email address ?

UPDATE: It will not work in Firefox, but will work on any other browser. I even tried loading Firefox in safe mode (disabling all plugins, etc.) and still no worky. :( I'm trying to do an AJAX post (on form submission) to a separate PHP file, which works fine without trying to send an email address through the post. I'm fairly new to AJAX and pretty familiar with PHP. Hi, I have a favourite and un-favourite functionality in my application and I am using jQuery. This functionality works partially. The page gets loaded, and when I click the 'favourite' button(it is inside add_favourite_div element), it sends a XHR request and the post is set as favourite. Then a new div called "remove_favourite_div" replaces its place.Now when I click the remove favourite(which is part of remove_favourite_div), it sends a normal http request inside of xhr. Putting a set of code which is pushing image to database and fetching back from database:  Above set of code has one problem. The problem is whenever i pressing the "submit" button. It is just displaying the image on a page. But it is leaving all the html codes. even any new line message after the // Printing image on browser echo $resultbytes; //************************// So, for this i put this set of code in html tag: This is other sample code:  ** But in this It is showing the image in format of special charaters and digits. 1) So, Please help me to print the image with some HTML code. So that i can print it in my form to display the image. 2) Is there any way to convert the database image into real image, so that i can store it into my hard-disk and call it from tag? Please help me.

Server compromised. Bounce message contains many email addresses message was not sent to

This is not a dupe. Please read and understand the issue before marking this as a duplicate question that has been answered already. Several customers are reporting bounce messages like the one below. At first I thought their computers had a virus but then I received one that was server generated so the problem is with the server. I've inspected the logs and these email addresses do not appear in the logs.
