  • How can I get the Android SDK working with Eclipse in Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit?

    - by user30667
I would like to tinker with the Android software development kit, and I have found out that it only support 32-bit versions of the Java Platform and Eclipse. I installed the ia32 Sun Java runtime environment and the 32-bit version of Eclipse. I also used the update-alternatives program to make a java 32-bit preference. Both of these seem to run fine. I also installed the Eclipse android plugins, but my problem lies in the SDK downloaded from Google. When I go to Eclipse preferences and try to tell it about my Android SDK location, there are no SDK targets listed. Has anyone else gotten this running on Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit? Thanks.

  • Integrating Code Metrics in TFS 2010 Build

    - by Jakob Ehn
The build process template and custom activity described in this post is available here: http://cid-ee034c9f620cd58d.office.live.com/self.aspx/BlogSamples/CodeMetricsSample.zip Running code metrics has been available since VS 2008, but only from inside the IDE. Yesterday Microsoft finally releases a Visual Studio Code Metrics Power Tool 10.0, a command line tool that lets you run code metrics on your applications.  This means that it is now possible to perform code metrics analysis on the build server as part of your nightly/QA builds (for example). In this post I will show how you can run the metrics command line tool, and also a custom activity that reads the output and appends the results to the build log, and also fails he build if the metric values exceeds certain (configurable) treshold values. The code metrics tool analyzes all the methods in the assemblies, measuring cyclomatic complexity, class coupling, depth of inheritance and lines of code. Then it calculates a Maintainability Index from these values that is a measure f how maintanable this method is, between 0 (worst) and 100 (best). For information on hwo this value is calculated, see http://blogs.msdn.com/b/codeanalysis/archive/2007/11/20/maintainability-index-range-and-meaning.aspx. After this it aggregates the information and present it at the class, namespace and module level as well. Running Metrics.exe in a build definition Running the actual tool is easy, just use a InvokeProcess activity last in the Compile the Project sequence, reference the metrics.exe file and pass the correct arguments and you will end up with a result XML file in the drop directory. Here is how it is done in the attached build process template: In the above sequence I first assign the path to the code metrics result file ([BinariesDirectory]\result.xml) to a variable called MetricsResultFile, which is then sent to the InvokeProcess activity in the Arguments property. Here are the arguments for the InvokeProcess activity: Note that we tell metrics.exe to analyze all assemblies located in the Binaries folder. You might want to do some more intelligent filtering here, you probably don’t want to analyze all 3rd party assemblies for example. Note also the path to the metrics.exe, this is the default location when you install the Code Metrics power tool. You must of course install the power tool on all build servers. Using the standard output logging (in the Handle Standard Output/Handle Error Output sections), we get the following output when running the build: Integrating Code Metrics into the build Having the results available next to the build result is nice, but we want to have results integrated in the build result itself, and also to affect the outcome of the build. The point of having QA builds that measure, for example, code metrics is to make it very clear how the code being built measures up to the standards of the project/company. Just having a XML file available in the drop location will not cause the developers to improve their code, but a (partially) failing build will! To do this, we need to write a custom activity that parses the metrics result file, logs it to the build log and fails the build if the values frfom the metrics is below/above some predefined treshold values. The custom activity performs the following steps Parses the XML. I’m using Linq 2 XSD for this, since the XML schema for the result file is available, it is vey easy to generate code that lets you query the structure using standard Linq operators. Runs through the metric result hierarchy and logs the metrics for each level and also verifies maintainability index and the cyclomatic complexity with the treshold values. The treshold values are defined in the build process template are are sent in as arguments to the custom activity If the treshold values are exceeded, the activity either fails or partially fails the current build. For more information about the structure of the code metrics result file, read Cameron Skinner's post about it. It is very simpe and easy to understand. I won’t go through the code of the custom activity here, since there is nothing special about it and it is available for download so you can look at it and play with it yourself. The treshold values for Maintainability Index and Cyclomatic Complexity is defined in the build process template, and can be modified per build definition: I have taken the default value for these settings from my colleague Terje Sandström post on Code Metrics - suggestions for approriate limits. You’ll notice that this is quite an improvement compared to using code metrics inside the IDE, where Red/Yellow/Green limits are fixed (and the default values are somewaht strange, see Terjes post for a discussion on this) This is the first version of the code metrics integration with TFS 2010 Build, I will proabably enhance the functionality and the logging (the “tree view” structure in the log becomes quite hard to read) soon. I will also consider adding it to the Community TFS Build Extensions site when it becomes a bit more mature. Another obvious improvement is to extend the data warehouse of TFS and push the metric results back to the warehouse and make it visible in the reports.

  • TFS API Add Favorites programmatically

    - by Tarun Arora
01 – What are we trying to achieve? In this blog post I’ll be showing you how to add work item queries as favorites, it is also possible to use the same technique to add build definition as favorites. Once a shared query or build definition has been added as favorite it will show up on the team web access.  In this blog post I’ll be showing you a work around in the absence of a proper API how you can add queries to team favorites. 02 – Disclaimer There is no official API for adding favorites programmatically. In the work around below I am using the Identity service to store this data in a property bag which is used during display of favorites on the team web site. This uses an internal data structure that could change over time, there is no guarantee about the key names or content of the values. What is shown below is a workaround for a missing API. 03 – Concept There is no direct API support for favorites, but you could work around it using the identity service in TFS.  Favorites are stored in the property bag associated with the TeamFoundationIdentity (either the ‘team’ identity or the users identity depending on if these are ‘team’ or ‘my’ favorites).  The data is stored as json in the property bag of the identity, the key being prefixed by ‘Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Framework.Server.IdentityFavorites’. References - Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.Client - using Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Client; - using Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Framework.Client; - using Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Framework.Common; - using Microsoft.TeamFoundation.ProcessConfiguration.Client; - using Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Server; - using Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.Client; Services - IIdentityManagementService2 - TfsTeamService - WorkItemStore 04 – Solution Lets start by connecting to TFS programmatically // Create an instance of the services to be used during the program private static TfsTeamProjectCollection _tfs; private static ProjectInfo _selectedTeamProject; private static WorkItemStore _wis; private static TfsTeamService _tts; private static TeamSettingsConfigurationService _teamConfig; private static IIdentityManagementService2 _ids; // Connect to TFS programmatically public static bool ConnectToTfs() { var isSelected = false; var tfsPp = new TeamProjectPicker(TeamProjectPickerMode.SingleProject, false); tfsPp.ShowDialog(); _tfs = tfsPp.SelectedTeamProjectCollection; if (tfsPp.SelectedProjects.Any()) { _selectedTeamProject = tfsPp.SelectedProjects[0]; isSelected = true; } return isSelected; } Lets get all the work item queries from the selected team project static readonly Dictionary<string, string> QueryAndGuid = new Dictionary<string, string>(); // Get all queries and query guid in the selected team project private static void GetQueryGuidList(IEnumerable<QueryItem> query) { foreach (QueryItem subQuery in query) { if (subQuery.GetType() == typeof(QueryFolder)) GetQueryGuidList((QueryFolder)subQuery); else { QueryAndGuid.Add(subQuery.Name, subQuery.Id.ToString()); } } }   Pass the name of a valid Team in your team project and a name of a valid query in your team project. The team details will be extracted using the team name and query GUID will be extracted using the query name. These details will be used to construct the key and value that will be passed to the SetProperty method in the Identity service.           Key           “Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Framework.Server.IdentityFavorites..<TeamProjectURI>.<TeamId>.WorkItemTracking.Queries.<newGuid1>”           Value           "{"data":"<QueryGuid>","id":"<NewGuid1>","name":"<QueryKey>","type":"Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.QueryItem”}"           // Configure a Work Item Query for the given team private static void ConfigureTeamFavorites(string teamName, string queryName) { _ids = _tfs.GetService<IIdentityManagementService2>(); var g = Guid.NewGuid(); var guid = string.Empty; var teamDetail = _tts.QueryTeams(_selectedTeamProject.Uri).FirstOrDefault(t => t.Name == teamName); foreach (var q in QueryAndGuid.Where(q => q.Key == queryName)) { guid = q.Value; } if(guid == string.Empty) { Console.WriteLine("Query '{0}' - Not found!", queryName); return; } var key = string.Format( "Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Framework.Server.IdentityFavorites..{0}.{1}.WorkItemTracking.Queries{2}", new Uri(_selectedTeamProject.Uri).Segments.LastOrDefault(), teamDetail.Identity.TeamFoundationId, g); var value = string.Format( @"{0}""data"":""{1}"",""id"":""{2}"",""name"":""{3}"",""type"":""Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.QueryItem""{4}", "{", guid, g, QueryAndGuid.FirstOrDefault(q => q.Value==guid).Key, "}"); teamDetail.Identity.SetProperty(IdentityPropertyScope.Local, key, value); _ids.UpdateExtendedProperties(teamDetail.Identity); Console.WriteLine("{0}Added Query '{1}' as Favorite", Environment.NewLine, queryName); }   If you have any questions or suggestions leave a comment. • Compiling program that uses libpcap on Mac OSX using iPhone 3.1.1 SDK for use on iPhone

    - by Alan
Hey SOV users, I have a question that I'm hoping some iPhone Developers may be able to help with. I had a look at statically compiling a binary on my Mac and moving it over to the iPhone for execution. I have managed to get this bit of it working by installing the iPhone 3.1.3 SDK on my Mac and setting the architecture to the iPhone in the gcc line as follows; /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/usr/bin/gcc -I ~/Downloads/libpcap-1.1.1/pcap-compiled/ -arch armv6 -isysroot /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS2.1.sdk -o test test.c I have managed to successfully compile a "Hello World" C program and executed it on the iPhone with success. e.g. include int main() { printf("Hello, World!\n"); return(0); } This worked a charm. I am also using 'ldid' to sign the application (but only if necessary). Anyways, I have been trying to get a program to compile which uses libpcap (http://www.tcpdump.org/) but with little success. I have downloaded and installed libpcap-1.1.1 on my mac and set the configure --prefix to /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS2.1.sdk/usr/local and build the application. I then saw that the includes actually reside in Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS2.1.sdk/usr/includes and so moved the Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS2.1.sdk/usr/local/include files (which contained only the pcap stuff) to the correct location. I then attempted to compile the test program using; /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/usr/bin/gcc -I /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS3.1.3.sdk/usr/include/ -arch armv6 -isysroot /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS2.1.sdk -o pcap pcap.c -lpcap This worked a lot better than other tests but produces an error; i.e. ld: library not found for -lcrt1.o collect2: ld returned 1 exit status Do you have any ideas as to how I can do this successfully? I've tried a load of different things but none seem to be successful. Basically, I just want to install (or add) some headers to the existing iPhoneOS SDK for use in compiling programs. Any ideas? Cheers, A

  • How do I create in Xcode an iPhone project specifying at project creation time the SDK version I wan

    - by unforgiven
With the latest Xcode and SDK 3.0 beta when you create a new iPhone project, Xcode creates an SDK 3.0 project. If I want to revert to SDK 2.2.1 after the project has been created, I need to change something in the generated source code files since some of the APIs have changed. Is there a simple way to specify at project creation time the SDK I want to use explicitly? Thank you in advance

  • what are your biggest complaints about TFS as source-control?

    - by jcollum
I've used TFS for about 18 months now and I'm really not excited about it. It seems like the worst of the current versions of SCMs on the market. I think this thread will help people decide if TFS is for them vs. other source control systems. While TFS does a lot more than that, I think that source control is so critical to software development that any system (or combination thereof) that you pick needs to consider source control first. So, feel free to sound off. Maybe it'll make us feel better and be informative at the same time.

  • Flex SDK the right tool for this project

    - by RWAC
A client wants a site similar to this one (but different purpose): http://www.spokeo.com/search?q=Samantha+Dawes,+&s7=t30 where the user searches by name and a map is displayed with the count over each state. When the user clicks the count the list is displayed. I am a PHP developer (and have experience with C, C++, etc). Would Flex SDK, Flash Builder 4.5 for PHP, or Flash be the best tool? The Flex SDK http://www.adobe.com/products/flex.html looks promising and it looks like I can download it free without having to purchase Flash or Flex. Is that correct? Do you think this kind of project can be done with the Flex SDK? Without purchasing Flex or Flash? Thank you for taking the time to read this.

  • Windows Azure SDK 1.2 Available - .NET 4.0 Support

    - by Shaun
The Windows Azure team had just announced the release of the latest version of its tools and SDK (v1.2) at the TechED 2010 New Orleans. You can download it here. The biggest new feature/improvement of this version of the SDK would be Visual Studio 2010 RTM and .NET 4.0 support. It gives us the facilities to build our azure-based applications on top of .NET 3.5 and 4.0 as well. So the guys who is working on, like me, or is going to be working on .NET 4 would better to have this SDK installed I think. Also there are some other information about the envolution of the Windows Azure at this TechED session you can find here.   Hope this helps, Shaun All documents and related graphics, codes are provided "AS IS" without warranty of any kind. • Team Foundation Server – How to pass ReferencePath argument to MSBuild

    - by Gopinath
When we manually build a .NET project using Visual Studio, the reference paths set in Project Properties are picked up by Visual Studio for referring to dependent DLLs. But the project is built using TFS, the reference path’s specified in project properties are not considered. This is because Reference Paths are user specific settings and they are not stored in .proj files(they are stored in user settings files). The TFS build may break if it does not find the required DLLs in GAC. We can solve the problem by passing ReferencePath parameter to MSBuild in TFS build configurations. Go to Team Explorer Select Build Defintion >> Edit Build Definition Switch to Process tab Navigate to Advanced Section and locate MSBuild Arguments Add the following: /p:ReferencePath=”{File path}”

  • Automated architecture validation

    - by P.Brian.Mackey
I am aware of the fact that TFS 2010 ultimate edition can create and validate architecture diagrams. For example, I can create a new modeling project add Layer Diagram Add Layer called View Add BL Layer Add DL layer. Then I can validate this architecture as part of the build process when someone tries to check code into TFS. In other words, if the View references the DL then the compilation process will fail and the checkin will not be allowed. For those without an MSDN ultimate license, can FxCop or some 3rd party utility be used to validate architecture in an automated fashion? I prefer a TFS install-able plugin, but a local VS plugin will do.

  • Citrix SDK: Where to start? [closed]

    - by Bob Dole
I'm needing to start hacking around the Citrix SDK and am trying to figure out where to start. I'm wanting to basically find a way to pass data from the client to the server and figure out how to open an application on the citrix client. I see there is a XenApp SDK, and Virtual Channel SDK but really don't know which one I need to start with. I have a Citrix development virtual server set up, but am unsure how to get started. Does someone know of a good site/tutorial on how to get started with the various Citrix API's quickly?

  • Cannot connect on TFS 2012 server through SSL with invalid certificate

    - by DaveWut
I saw the problem on some forums and even here, but not as specific as mine. So here's the thing, So I've configured a TFS 2012 server, on one of my personnel server at home, and now, I'm trying to make it available through the internet, with the help of apache2 on a different UNIX based, physical server. The thing is working perfectly, I don't have any problem accessing the address https://tfs.something.com/tfs through my browser. The address can be pinged and I do have access to the TFS control panel through it. How does it work? Well, with apache2 you can set a virtual host and set up the ProxyPass and ProxyPassReserver setting, so the traffic can externally comes from a secure SSL connection, through a specified domain or sub-domain, but it can be locally redirect on a clear http session on a different port. This is my current setup. As I already said, I can access the web interface, but when I'm trying to connect with Visual Studio 2012, it can't be done. Here's the error I receive: http://i.imgur.com/TLQIn.png The technical information tells me: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. My SSL certificate is invalid and was automatically generated on my UNIX server. Even if I try to add it in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities either on my TFS server or on my local workstation, it doesn't work. I still receive the same error. Is there's a way to completely ignore certificate validation? If not, what's have I done? I mean, I've added the certificate in the trusted root certificates, it should works as mentioned on some forums... If you need more information, please ask me, I'll be pleased to provide you more. • Project not publishing start/finish date for custom TFS work items

    - by pete the pagan-gerbil
I've got a TFS 2012 project set up with custom work items, that include Start and Finish date read-only fields (Microsoft.VSTS.Scheduling.StartDate and FinishDate). When I publish one of those custom work items from within Office Project, it does not populate those fields the same way as when I publish a Task work item (builtin TFS work item). I've looked at the transitions in the work items, and also the TFS project field mapping XML file but can't find anything that explains the difference in behaviour. What am I missing?

  • Code-First Database Creation During TFS 2010 CI Build

    - by jedimindtrickster
I would like to automate code-first database generation during the automated CI build of a web project in Team Foundation Server 2010. When run locally the tests create a code-first database specified by the connection string in the app.config of the tests project. How do I configure the TFS Build Configuration to mimic this behaviour on the TFS build server? Edit The problem, it turns out, was that the TFS build server was successfully running the test which was using the default connection string in the app.config which pointed to the local SQL Server, not where I expected it. The solution was to use SlowCheetah on the TFS server as a means to transform the App.config file using the QA transform as per this blog article.

  • iPhone SDK: subFolders inside the main bundle

    - by codemercenary
Hi, in the current project I have a number of folders, with subfolders, and these contain images: 01.png, 02.png. Folder1/FolderA/f1.png Folder1/FolderB/F1.png When I compile the app, I looked inside the the .app and noticed that all the images are placed in the top level, with no sub-folders. So clearly when trying to load the image this doesn't work: NSString *filePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"f1" ofType:@"png" inDirectory:@"Folder1/FolderA"]; But even more strangely, when loading image "f1", the image actually loads "F1" UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"f1.png"]]; Anyone have ideas on how to get around this problem? Is there a compile option to create the folders in the app bundle? TIA.

  • Iphone SDK - adding UITableView to UIView

    - by Shashi
Hi, I am trying to learn how to use different views, for this sample test app, i have a login page, upon successful logon, the user is redirected to a table view and then upon selection of an item in the table view, the user is directed to a third page showing details of the item. the first page works just fine, but the problem occurs when i go to the second page, the table shown doesn't have title and i cannot add title or toolbar or anything other than the content of the tables themselves. and when i click on the item, needless to say nothing happens. no errors as well. i am fairly new to programming and have always worked on Java but never on C(although i have some basic knowledge of C) and Objective C is new to me. Here is the code. import @interface NavigationTestAppDelegate : NSObject { UIWindow *window; UIViewController *viewController; IBOutlet UITextField *username; IBOutlet UITextField *password; IBOutlet UILabel *loginError; //UINavigationController *navigationController; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIViewController *viewController; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWindow *window; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UITextField *username; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UITextField *password; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UILabel *loginError; -(IBAction) login; -(IBAction) hideKeyboard: (id) sender; @end import "NavigationTestAppDelegate.h" import "RootViewController.h" @implementation NavigationTestAppDelegate @synthesize window; @synthesize viewController; @synthesize username; @synthesize password; @synthesize loginError; pragma mark - pragma mark Application lifecycle -(IBAction) hideKeyboard: (id) sender{ [sender resignFirstResponder]; } (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { // Override point for customization after app launch //RootViewController *rootViewController = [[RootViewController alloc] init]; //[window addSubview:[navigationController view]]; [window addSubview:[viewController view]]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } -(IBAction) login { RootViewController *rootViewController = [[RootViewController alloc] init]; //NSString *user = [[NSString alloc] username. if([username.text isEqualToString:@"test"]&&[password.text isEqualToString:@"test"]){ [window addSubview:[rootViewController view]]; //[window addSubview:[navigationController view]]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; //rootViewController.awakeFromNib; } else { loginError.text = @"LOGIN ERROR"; [window addSubview:[viewController view]]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } } (void)applicationWillTerminate:(UIApplication *)application { // Save data if appropriate } pragma mark - pragma mark Memory management (void)dealloc { //[navigationController release]; [viewController release]; [window release]; [super dealloc]; } @end import @interface RootViewController : UITableViewController { IBOutlet NSMutableArray *views; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet NSMutableArray * views; @end // // RootViewController.m // NavigationTest // // Created by guest on 4/23/10. // Copyright MyCompanyName 2010. • Accessing Instance Attributes from Secondary Thread (iPhone-SDK)

    - by Travis
I have a class with an NSDictionary attribute. Inside this class I dispatch another thread to handle NSXMLParser handling. Inside my -didStartElement, I access the dictionary in the class (to compare an element found in the XML to one in the dictionary). At this point I get undefined results. Using NSLog (I'm not advanced in XCode debugging), I see that it bombs around access of the NSDictionary. I tried just iterating the dictionary and dumping the key/values inside the didStartElement and this bombs at different keys each time. The only thing I can conclude is that something is not kosher that I'm doing with regards to accessing main thread attributes from the secondary thread. I'm somewhat new to multithreading and am not sure what the best protocol is safely access attributes from additional threads. Thanks all.

  • iPhone SDK 3.2 UIGestureRecognizer interfering with UIView animations?

    - by Brian Cooley
    Are there known issues with gesture recognizers and the UIView class methods for animation? I am having problems with a sequence of animations on a UIImageView from UIGestureRecognizer callback. If the sequence of animations is started from a standard callback like TouchUpInside, the animation works fine. If it is started via the UILongPressGestureRecognizer, then the first animation jumps to the end and the second animation immediately begins. Here's a sample that illustrates my problem. In the .xib for the project, I have a UIImageView that is connected to the viewToMove IBOutlet. I also have a UIButton connected to the startButton IBOutlet, and I have connected its TouchUpInside action to the startButtonClicked IBAction. The TouchUpInside action works as I want it to, but the longPressGestureRecognizer skips to the end of the first animation after about half a second. When I NSLog the second animation (animateTo200) I can see that it is called twice when a long press starts the animation but only once when the button's TouchUpInside action starts the animation. - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; UILongPressGestureRecognizer *longPressRecognizer = [[UILongPressGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:@selector(startButtonClicked)]; NSArray *recognizerArray = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:longPressRecognizer, nil]; [startButton setGestureRecognizers:recognizerArray]; [longPressRecognizer release]; [recognizerArray release]; } -(IBAction)startButtonClicked { if (viewToMove.center.x < 150) { [self animateTo200:@"Right to left" finished:nil context:nil]; } else { [self animateTo100:@"Right to left" finished:nil context:nil]; } } -(void)animateTo100:(NSString *)animationID finished:(NSNumber *)finished context:(void *)context { [UIView beginAnimations:@"Right to left" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:4]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [UIView setAnimationDidStopSelector:@selector(animateTo200:finished:context:)]; viewToMove.center = CGPointMake(100.0, 100.0); [UIView commitAnimations]; } -(void)animateTo200:(NSString *)animationID finished:(NSNumber *)finished context:(void *)context { [UIView beginAnimations:@"Left to right" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:4]; viewToMove.center = CGPointMake(200.0, 200.0); [UIView commitAnimations]; }

  • iPhone SDK NSString To NSDate

    - by disp
    I got a string from parsing a XML file which looks like this: Fri, 09 Apr 2010 00:00:45 +0200 and the corresponding pattern should be this "EEE, dd MMM yyyy HH:mm:ss ZZ", but I get (null). This is my code: NSString *dateString = @"Fri, 09 Apr 2010 00:00:45 +0200"; NSDateFormatter *dateFormatter = [[NSDateFormatter alloc] init]; [dateFormatter setDateFormat:@"EEE, dd MMM yyyy HH:mm:ss ZZ"]; NSDate *date = [dateFormatter dateFromString:dateString]; NSLog(@"date:%@",date); // result date:(null) Edit: This works for me now, I had to switch to en-US locale: NSLocale* usLocale = [[NSLocale alloc] initWithLocaleIdentifier:@"en-US"]; NSDateFormatter *dateFormatter = [[NSDateFormatter alloc] init]; [dateFormatter setLocale:usLocale]; [dateFormatter setDateFormat:@"EEE, dd MMM yyyy HH:mm:ss ZZ"]; NSDate *date = [dateFormatter dateFromString:dateString];
