  • Navigate to menu on back button press

    - by GAMA
    I'm navigating from: Main activity to Activity 2 Activity 2 to Activity 3 Activity 3 to Activity 4 through Intent. I've also created the menu so that user can directly navigate from Activity 4 to Main activity. But after navigating from Activity 4 to Main activity by using menu, when I press back, it takes me to Activity 3 rather than exiting the application. I tried: @Override public void onBackPressed() { super.onBackPressed(); MainActivity.this.finish(); } But no gain. Any suggestions?

  • Getting error that the database is locked when refreshing the page

    - by acidzombie24
    The title is a joke. However it is serious as far as my app is concerned. I am running apache with mod mono and my asp.net app is using mono sqlite as its db. When i refresh the page twice i get the DB is locked error. The folder it is in is chmod 777. The webapp is creating sqlite.db and sqlite.db-journal but it doesnt seem to be able to delete the journal. i'm confused. What permissions do i need to set these? i tried precreating the files using 777 and had no luck.

  • AsyncTask, inner classes and Buttons states

    - by Intern John Smith
    For a musical application (a sequencer), I have a few buttons static ArrayList<Button> Buttonlist = new ArrayList<Button>(); Buttonlist.add(0,(Button) findViewById(R.id.case_kick1)); Buttonlist.add(1,(Button) findViewById(R.id.case_kick2)); Buttonlist.add(2,(Button) findViewById(R.id.case_kick3)); Buttonlist.add(3,(Button) findViewById(R.id.case_kick4)); Buttonlist.add(4,(Button) findViewById(R.id.case_kick5)); Buttonlist.add(5,(Button) findViewById(R.id.case_kick6)); Buttonlist.add(6,(Button) findViewById(R.id.case_kick7)); Buttonlist.add(7,(Button) findViewById(R.id.case_kick8)); that I activate through onClickListeners with for example Buttonlist.get(0).setActivated(true); I played the activated sound via a loop and ifs : if (Buttonlist.get(k).isActivated()) {mSoundManager.playSound(1); Thread.sleep(250);} The app played fine but I couldn't access the play/pause button when it was playing : I searched and found out about AsyncTasks. I have a nested class PlayPause : class PlayPause extends AsyncTask<ArrayList<Button>,Integer,Void> in which I have this : protected Void doInBackground(ArrayList<Button>... params) { for(int k=0;k<8;k++) { boolean isPlayed = false; if (Buttonlist.get(k).isActivated()) { mSoundManager.playSound(1); isPlayed = true; try {Thread.sleep(250); } catch (InterruptedException e) {e.printStackTrace();}} if(!isPlayed){ try {Thread.sleep(250);} catch (InterruptedException e) {e.printStackTrace();} } } return null; } I launch it via Play.setOnClickListener(new PlayClickListener()); with PlayClickListener : public class PlayClickListener implements OnClickListener { private Tutorial acti; public PlayClickListener(){ super(); } @SuppressWarnings("unchecked") public void onClick(View v) { if(Tutorial.play==0){ Tutorial.play=1; Tutorial.Play.setBackgroundResource(R.drawable.action_down); acti = new Tutorial(); Tutorial.PlayPause myPlayPause = acti.new PlayPause(); myLecture.execute(Tutorial.Buttonlist); } else { Tutorial.play=0; Tutorial.lecture.cancel(true); Tutorial.Play.setBackgroundResource(R.drawable.action); } } } But it doesn't work. when I click on buttons and I touch Play/Pause, I have this : 07-02 11:06:01.350: E/AndroidRuntime(7883): FATAL EXCEPTION: AsyncTask #1 07-02 11:06:01.350: E/AndroidRuntime(7883): Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException 07-02 11:06:01.350: E/AndroidRuntime(7883): at com.Tutorial.Tutorial$PlayPause.doInBackground(Tutorial.java:603) 07-02 11:06:01.350: E/AndroidRuntime(7883): at com.Tutorial.Tutorial$PlayPause.doInBackground(Tutorial.java:1) And I don't know how to get rid of this error. Obviously, the Asynctask doesn't find the Buttonlist activated status, even if the list is static. I don't know how to access these buttons' states, isPressed doesn't work either. Thanks for reading and helping me !

    - by Pentium10
    I have this code Calendar c = new GregorianCalendar(); c.add(Calendar.DAY_OF_YEAR, 1); c.set(Calendar.HOUR_OF_DAY, 23); c.set(Calendar.MINUTE, 22); c.set(Calendar.SECOND, 0); c.set(Calendar.MILLISECOND, 0); // We want the alarm to go off 30 seconds from now. long firstTime = SystemClock.elapsedRealtime(); firstTime += 30*1000; long a=c.getTimeInMillis(); // Schedule the alarm! AlarmManager am = (AlarmManager)ctx.getSystemService(Context.ALARM_SERVICE); am.setRepeating(AlarmManager.ELAPSED_REALTIME_WAKEUP, c.getTimeInMillis(), 1*60*60*1000, sender); It is not executed at 23:22h What I am doing wrong? I noticed firstTime and c.getTimeInMillis() differs a lot in size and length. When I use firstTime, so when set to 30 seconds, the alarm is executed well.

  • How to rename an private file of my application?

    - by Ungureanu Liviu
    Hi! I want to rename an context private file created with openFileOutput() but I don't know how... I tried that: File file = getFileStreamPath(optionsMenuView.getPlaylistName()); // this file already exists try { FileOutputStream outStream = openFileOutput(newPlaylistName, Context.MODE_WORLD_READABLE); // i create a new file with the new name outStream.close(); } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { Log.e(TAG, "file not found!"); e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { Log.e(TAG, "IO exception"); e.printStackTrace(); } Log.e(TAG, "rename status: " + file.renameTo(getFileStreamPath(newPlaylistName))); //it return true This code throw FileNotFoundException but the documentation said "Open a private file associated with this Context's application package for writing. Creates the file if it doesn't already exist." so the new file should be created on disk. The problem: When I try to read from the new renamed file I got FileNotFoundException! Thank you!

  • Keep the images downloaded in the listview during scrolling

    - by Paveliko
    I'm developing my first app and have been reading a LOT here. I've been trying to find a solution for the following issue for over a week with no luck. I have an Adapter that extends ArrayAdapter to show image and 3 lines of text in each row. Inside the getView I assign relevant information for the TextViews and use ImageLoader class to download image and assign it to the ImageView. Everything works great! I have 4.5 rows visible on my screen (out of total of 20). When I scroll down for the first time the images continue to download and be assigned in right order to the list. BUT when I scroll back the list looses all the images and start redrawing them again (0.5-1 sec per image) in correct order. From what I've been reading it's the standard list performance but I want to change it. I want that, once the image was downloaded, it will be "sticked" to the list for the whole session of the current window. Just like in Contacts list or in the Market. It is only 20 images (6-9kb each). Hope I managed to explain myself.

  • Padding List Items?

    - by Lee Olayvar
    I have a list where i basically need a hierarchy of items. Any children of an item would be padded slightly, as to easily distinguish their parent item. How could this be achieved? Note that i could, if needed, make each parent show no children, and then when the parent is clicked, a new list containing all of it's children is loaded. This however requires more clicking to display information than i would prefer. Also, the items themselves will contain graphics and whatnot (to show a drag'n'drop button, etc), so it would be best if it visually appeared as if the item itself had a margin, rather than the contents of the item being padded. Thanks to any replies!

What's the problem here? Is it due to the fitXY?

  • Applying style to perticuler character in textview.

    - by HellBoy
    Currently I am using 26 Textview so that I can apply style to particular character depending on runtime situation. But if I can able to apply style on particular character in textview I can achieve my goal using only one textview. e.g. If I want to make character 'M' red in following code. Is it possible to achieve this? <TextView android:id="@+id/TextView01" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textSize="20dip" android:textStyle="bold" android:layout_width="15dip" android:text="ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ" android:background="#FFFFFF" android:textColor="#000000"/>` Or anybody have better option than using 26 TextView it also welcome.

  • I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around handling the Activity Lifecycle...

    - by kefs
    So it seems i've created a fatal flaw and coded an app before understanding/handling rotation/lifecycle events.. Currently, all of my code is in onCreate of each activity. I've read a lot of lifecycle tutorials online, including the official dev guide info, but i'm still having an almost unbelievably hard time trying to wrap my head around the rotation/lifecycle events/methods and when to use them correctly. For example, my app currently has an activity that opens the db, inserts a record, then closes the db.. if i rotate my screen on this activity, the data is re-entered into the db. Using the available lifecycle events (onPause(), onResume(), etc..), how would I prevent this db call from happening again? Would I have to pass a variable through the state saying that the db call has been done, and not to do it again? Thanks in advance..

  • Webservice for serial port devices

    - by camx
    Hi I want to create a remote webservice for an application that is now avaliable only localy. This application controlls three devices (each is controlled separately) connected on serial port. The problem is that I don't know how to take care of passing back information that a device return requested data. For example - I send move command to the motion device (which is very slow and can take a minute or more). Can I just set a big timeout on the client side (and server side) and return for example a true/false if operation is completed or is this a bad idea? Is SOAP with big timeouts ok? And the other question is if Mono on Linux (Ubuntu 9.10, Mono 2.4) is stable enought for making a web service or should I chose Java or some other language? I'm open for recommendations. Thanks for your help!

  • Functioning Socket read no longer works when called in AsyncTask

    - by bibismcbryde
    I'm making an app that sends a string to a server over a socket and then reads the output after the server has processed that data. It worked perfectly when it was my foreground task, but I have since used AsyncTask to show a process dialog while the socket communication runs in the background, and things start breaking after I read the output from the server and then try to close the socket. private class Progressor extends AsyncTask<String, Void, Void> { ProgressDialog dialog; protected void onPreExecute() { dialog = ProgressDialog.show(ClearTalkInputActivity.this, "Loading..", "Analyzing Text", true, false); } protected Void doInBackground(String... strings) { String language = strings[0].toLowerCase(); String the_text = strings[1]; Socket socket = null; DataOutputStream dos = null; DataInputStream dis = null; try { socket = new Socket(my_ip, port); dos = new DataOutputStream(socket.getOutputStream()); dis = new DataInputStream(socket.getInputStream()); dos.writeUTF(language+"****"+the_text); String in = ""; while (in.indexOf("</content>") < 0) { in += dis.readUTF(); } socket.close(); save_str(OUTPUT_KEY, in); } catch (UnknownHostException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } finally { if (socket != null) { try { socket.close(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } if (dos != null) { try { dos.close(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } if (dis != null) { try { dis.close(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } return null; } protected void onPostExecute() { if (dialog.isShowing()) dialog.dismiss(); startActivity(new Intent (output_intent)); } }

  • reset TextView scroll to top

    - by JayAvon
    Okay well I apologize for how sloppy this code is, but I still cant figure out how to post a code tag on here correctly. So I am making an Android application (Java) and i have a scrolling text field. If the user scrolls a long row down and stays at the end when they click the next row and if it is short, it will be scrolled down on that element too even though it may be a 1 line(and non scrollable) row. I was wondering if there is any way I can call something to right after txtLvlInfo.setText to reset the x-scroll value to 0 or something so it is always reset to the top of the content, long or short. Thanks for any help with this and please let me know if I need to clarify more. TextView txtLvlInfo = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.txtLevelInfo); txtLvlInfo.setMovementMethod(new ScrollingMovementMethod()); switch (v.getId()){ case R.id.row1: txtLvlInfo.setText("1: My text view is only two lines max and so I set it to scroll, if the user clicks row2 to load that text while having me scrolled down they have to click and pull to drag back down to the top of text view 2 row."); break; case R.id.row2: txtLvlInfo.setText("I only fill line 1 of the two."); break; android:textColor="#052027" android:text="" android:id="@+id/txtLevelInfo" android:scrollbars="vertical" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_toRightOf="@+id/minimizeBtn" android:layout_marginRight="38dip"

  • How can I set the order of the positive and negative buttons in AlertDialog?

    - by Micah Hainline
    Why I want to do this is another discussion entirely, but I need to figure out the best way to make all my alert dialogs have the positive button on the right side. Note that in version 3.0 and below the buttons normally appear as OK / Cancel and in 4.0 and above it is Cancel / OK. I want to force my application to use Cancel / OK in the simplest way possible. I have a lot of AlertDialogs in the application.
