• Eclipse style autohotkey commands

  Is autohotkey capable of interpreting hotkeys in the style of Ctrl + Shift + W, W? I would assume a script like the following would work: ^+W:: ; Windows hotkeys (Ctrl + Shift + W) O:: Run Outlook ; Subsequent 'o' pressed => Run outlook E:: Run Explorer ; return From the documentation I note that these are called vertically stacked hotkeys and cause each line to perform the same action. In the case above, I think Ctrl+Shift+W and o will both cause outlook to be launched, whereas pressing e would cause explorer to be launched. What I would like is Ctrl+Shift+W, O runs outlook and Ctrl+Shift+W, e runs windows explorer. Is there any way to cause a hotkey to perform context specific actions (much like in Eclipse), where I can press Ctrl+Shift+W to activate a block of specific hotkeys?

• Is there a way to edit a control's template based on the default template?

  I'm trying to make just a few minor tweaks to the default template of a checkbox. Now I understand how to make a new template from scratch, but this I do not know. I did manage to (I think?) extract the default template via the method here. Verify that you are not missing an assembly reference and that all referenced assemblies have been built. Now I'm wondering, how can I resolve these errors so that I can actually start working on the template? Is there a better way of going about this? My boss wants a three-state checkbox with a red square instead of green, and he won't take no for an answer.

  Hi All, I have a java application for exaple see below. myProject | |----src | | | |--main | | | |--resources | | | |--userConfig.properties | |--log4j.properties | |---target I am using Maven to build my project .I am using maven command to build jar file. mvn package -DMaven.test.skip=true I want to exclude userConfig.properties file from my jar file so i have mentioned in pom.xml as below. <excludes> <exclude>**/userConfig.properties</exclude> </excludes> but it will exclude from the target folder in which compile code resides.   I wrote a C# Winforms program to take a XML file and load values from a text file into each occurrence of that field which the user specifies on the UI. For whatever reason, the program inserts a carriage return on any nodes which don't contain a value. For example, it will do that to <example></example> whereas it will not misbehave on something like <country>USA</country> What is causing it to do this and how can I prevent it? • Compiler issues on VC++ 2008 Express, Seemingly correct code throws errors.

  Hi there, I've been trying to get back into coding for a while, so I figured I'd start with some simple SDL, now, without the file i/o, this compiles fine, but when I throw in the stdio code, it starts throwing errors. This I'm not sure about, I don't see any problem with the code itself, however, like I said, I might as well be a newbie, and figured I'd come here to get someone with a little more experience with this type of thing to look at it. • SFTP transfer file and move file to folder

  Hi all, This is my first post so please excuse my ignorance. I am using a vbscript to zip all .csv type files in a particular folder. After some google searches, I have found a workable vbscript to do this and have enabled a scheduled task to automate this. What I need to do next is to transfer the zip file via sftp and then "move" that zip file into another folder. I believe the former can be achieved using pscp.exe via command line but can someone show me how to do the latter? Basically the zipping will be done twice a day and so it will have a timestamp similar to yyyymmdd0900.zip (for 9am schedule) and yyyymmdd1800.zip (for 6pm schedule). After the transfer, I want to move (not copy) the zip file generated into another folder. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

• Windows batch file to list folders that have a specific file in them

  I'm trying to create a file that has a list of directories that have a specific file name in them. Let's say I'm trying to find directories that have a file named *.joe in them. I initially tried just a simple dir /ad *.joe > dir_list.txt , but it searches the directory names for *.joe, so no go. Then I concluded that a for loop was probably my best bet. I started with for /d /r %a in ('dir *.joe /b') do @echo %a >> dir_list.txt and it looked like it wasn't executing the dir command. I added the "usebackq", but that seems to only work for the /F command extension. Ideas?

• File location for config file to app installed to local user location

  I have a WinForm app that has inside of the app's config file locations to find files for the app to use as it runs. However, the app will be installed locally for each user so it can't be hard coded. For Vista and Windows 7 the installer puts the app in c:\users\\Documents area. Under Windows XP it puts it in a different location. How can I write the config file to use some sort of placeholder to be filled in at runtime with the specific user's information? I am just using the default areas that Windows wants to install a per-user install but need the config file to be flexible at runtime for the specific user.

  How do you create a "Browse" button in a WIX dialog. I currently have a custom dialog box with four radio buttons (Dev, QA, Stage, and Prod), and a text field for a filename. The install of course dies if the user enters a bad filename. I would be happy first of all just to verify that the file they entered exists. Secondly, I would like to add a File-Browser button, if such things exists in WIX. But even then, I would imagine the user could type in any file name, and I should still check to see if it exists.   Hello, I am using prototype to load external js file (actually it is php file) dynamically. But if some different file is called, all the functions from previous one are preserved. And I don't want that. Anybody knows how to "unload" first js file when second one is called? (I also tried using Ajax.Updater function but the result is the same.) Update: It turns out that there is bigger problem: it only loads if function "UpdateJS" is in window.onload that is why it doesn't load anything else after that. So prototypes update it's maybe not such a good way for this...

• Is there a way to "freeze" a file in Git?

  I'm in a situation where I want to open source my project, however there's a single source file that I want to release a "clean" version of, but use a separate version locally. Does git have a feature where I can just commit a file once, and it stops looking for changes on that file from now on? I've tried adding the file to .gitignore, but after the first time when I do a git add -f and git commit on the file, and I proceed to edit it again, git status shows the file as changed. The ideal behavior would be for git to not show this file as changed from now on, even though I've edited it. I'd also be interested in how others have dealt with "scrubbing" their codebases of private code/data before pushing to an open source repo, especially on Git.

  Hi I am using asp.net mvc 1.0 and I want to return a XML file but I also want to return a strongly typed data back so I can update some fields. Like the XML file will contain users who failed to be inserted into the database. So I want that to appear as a dialog save box what asp.net mvc return file() would do. However I also want to return on the page like values like how many users failed to be added, how many users where added, etc. So I want to use scafolding with the class file I want to pass it along. If this was a view I could pass it along as an object model but I don't see a parameter for that in File(). I also don't want to save the xml file onto the harddrive I want to do it through memory. So have a link that would display on the page to download the file and show the the data I want would not be desired.

• How do i force a file to be deleted? Windows server 2008

  On my site a user may upload a file (pic, zip, audio, video, whatever). He then may decide to replace it with a newer revision. This user may upload a file, make a post then decide to put up a new revision replacing the old (lets say its a large zip or tar.gz file). Theres a good chance people may be downloading it if he sent out an email or even im for the home user. Problem. I need to replace the file and people may be downloading and it may be some minutes before it is deleted. I dont want my code to stall until i cant delete or check every second to see if its unused (especially bad if another user can start and he takes long creating a cycle). How do i delete the file while users are downloading the file? i dont care if they stop i just care that the file can be replaced and new downloads are the new revision.

• Change a File Type’s Icon in Windows 7

  In Windows XP, you could change the icon associated with a file type in Windows Explorer. In Windows 7, you have to do some registry hacking to change a file type’s icon. We’ll show you a much easier and faster method for Windows 7. File Types Manager File Types Manager is a great little utility from NirSoft that includes the functionality of Windows XP’s folder options and adds a whole lot more. It works great in Windows 7, and its interface makes it easy to change a bunch of related file types at once. A common problem we run into are icons that look too similar. You have to look for a few seconds to see the difference between the movies and the text files. Let’s change the icon for the movie files to make visually scanning through directories much easier. Open up File Types Manager. Find the “Default Icon” column and click on it to sort the list by the Default Icon. (We’ve hidden a bunch of columns we don’t need, so you may find it to be farther to the right.) This groups together all file extensions that already have the same icon. This is convenient because we want to change the icon of all video files, which at the moment all have the same default icon. Click the “Find” button on the toolbar, of press Ctrl+F. Type in a file type that you want to change. Note that all of the extensions with the same default icon are grouped together. Right click on the first extension whose icon you want to change and click on Edit Selected File Type, or select the first extension and press F2. Click the “…” button next to the Default Icon text field. Click on the Browse… button. File Types Manager allows you to select .exe, .dll, or .ico files. In our case, we have a .ico file that we took from the wonderful public domain Tango icon library. Select the appropriate icon (if you’re using a .exe or .dll there could be many possible icons) then click OK. Repeat this process for each extension whose icon you would like to change. Now it’s much easier to see at a glance which files are movies and which are text files! Of course, this process will work for any file type, so customize your files’ icons as you see fit. • OSB and Ubuntu 10.04 - Too Many Open Files

  When installing the latest Oracle Service Bus (11gR1PS3) onto my Ubuntu 10.04 system, the Eclipse IDE was complaining about there being too many open files. The Oracle Service Bus and the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (aka OEPE) do make use of ALOT of files. By default, Ubuntu will restrict each user to 1024 open files. A much more realistic number for OSB development is 4096. Changing the file limit in Ubuntu is fairly simple (if arcane). You will need to modify two different files and then restart your server. First, you need to modify the limits.conf file as the root user. Open a terminal window and enter the following command: sudo gedit /etc/security/limits.conf Add the following 2 lines to the file. The asterisk simply means that the rule will apply to all users. * soft nofile 4096 * hard nofile 4096 Save your changes and close gedit. The second file to change is the common-session file. Use the following command: sudo gedit /etc/pam.d/common-session Add the following line: session required pam_limits.so Save the file and exit gedit. Restart your machine. You shouldn't have any more problems with too many open files anymore.

• Jquery if visible conditional not working

  Hey, I have a page going here that uses jQuery: http://treethink.com/services What I am trying to do is, if a slide or sub-page is shown in there, change the background colour and colour of the button. To do this I tried saying, if a certain div is shown, the background colour of a certain button changes. However, you can see there that it isn't working properly, it is changing the colour for the web one but not removing the colour change and adding a colour change on a different button when you change pages. • TinyMCE Image Alignment

  TinyMCE has always been a little difficult to align images. Either the align tag, or adding style="float: left;" has been it solution. Ideally I would just like to add class="left" or class="right" so that I can set the border and margins of the image. Up until now the only way to do this without using the advimage plugin was to insert the image, then select it, the select a style from the style menu. Ideally I should be able to use the align control in the image dialogue to set the alignment class or use the alignment controls on the toolbar when in the main editing window. I have just again started looking at a solution to this, now that IE6 is finally starting to die, I can use CSS attributes in selectors, so IMG[style="float: left;"] {} Works, but I would rather use a class incase there are any other style attributes which will cause the selector to fail. And it doesn't work in IE6, and you know some corporate clients will still be running the bloody thing! So I looked through the TinyMCE documentation and found the formats configuration option, that seems to allow you to specify how tinyMCE applies code for various operations. Here I can add the IMG tag as a selector, and have classes: "left" for the alignleft function. This applies the class correctly when the alignment is selected from the toolbar, but it still writes an inline style when the alignment is selected through the image dialogue. Am I doing something wrong or is there a better way of doing this that will allow my clients to select image alignment from both the image dialogue and the toolbar, whilst applying a class to the image?

• Fastest Method to Learn Web Design for a Developer

  I am a Web developer and in my projects I have noticed that my weakest point is not being good at the front-end design. Relying on other designers can be annoying if they are not able to produce as quickly as I want. My perspective on HTML/CSS is that it is basically a big hack that amazingly works. There are too many CSS and browser specific bugs/quirks to learn and remember them all without spending extreme amounts of time trying to untangle everything. Is there a fast track route to getting CSS into my brain? I have looked at some CSS books, but to me they really read as long lists of how to render things correctly in IE6 and how to make corners rounded. (Seriously why does it require so many tricks to make a sharp corner round? On any platform but the Web this would be called a major oversight.) Does there exist something that does the analogous to CSS that jQuery does for JavaScript? Using jQuery you don't need to know JavaScript well to make things that work. I am not interested in learning why IE6 does things in weird ways because I don't care about supporting it at all. I am more interested in a method of learning how to use CSS to do what I want without spending hours and hours reading obscure blogs.

  With Safari you can disable most iframe scrolling by setting style="overflow: hidden;" on the iframe. However, if you click in the iframe and move the mouse the content scrolls anyhow. Example: <html> <body> <iframe style="width: 100%; height:100px; overflow: hidden;" scrolling="no" src="scrollcontent.html"> </iframe> </body> </html> scrollcontent.html: <html scroll="no" style="overflow:hidden;"> <body scroll="no" style="overflow:hidden;"> <div style="background-color: green; height:100px;">A</div> <div style="background-color: red; height:100px;">B</div> </body> </html> In this example, the iframe should only show a green area and it should be impossible to reveal the red area. This is mostly true: there is no scrollbar, the mouse wheel doesn't do anything and neither do the arrow keys. However click and drag still scrolls the view. This is particularly noticeable when selecting text. Does anyone know any trick to stop Safari from doing this?

  It seems to be the general opinion that tables should not be used for layout in HTML. Why? I have never (or rarely to be honest) seen good arguments for this. The usual answers are: It's good to separate content from layoutBut this is a fallacious argument; Cliche Thinking. I guess it's true that using the table element for layout has little to do with tabular data. So what? Does my boss care? Do my users care?Perhaps me or my fellow developers who have to maintain a web page care... Is a table less maintainable? I think using a table is easier than using divs and CSS.By the way... why is using a div or a span good separation of content from layout and a table not? Getting a good layout with only divs often requires a lot of nested divs. Readability of the codeI think it's the other way around. Most people understand html, few understand CSS. It's better for SEO not to use tablesWhy? Can anybody show some evidence that it is? Or a statement from Google that tables are discouraged from an SEO perspective? Tables are slower.An extra tbody element has to be inserted. This is peanuts for modern web browsers. Show me some benchmarks where the use of a table significantly slows down a page. A layout overhaul is easier without tables, see css Zen Garden.Most web sites that need an upgrade need new content (html) as well. Scenarios where a new version of a web site only needs a new CSS file are not very likely. Zen Garden is a nice web site, but a bit theoretical. Not to mention its misuse of CSS. I am really interested in good arguments to use divs + CSS instead of tables.

How it can be done for Microsofts tab?
