  • Object Oriented PHP Best Practices

    Say I have a class which represents a person, a variable within that class would be $name. Previously, In my scripts I would create an instance of the object then set the name by just using: $object->name = "x"; However, I was told this was not best practice? That I should have a function set_name() or something similar like this: function set_name($name) { $this->name=$name; } is this correct? If in this example I want to insert a new "person" record into the db, how do I pass all the information about the person ie $name, $age, $address, $phone etc to the class in order to insert it, should I do: function set($data) { $this->name= $data['name']; $this->age = $data['age']; etc etc } Then send it an array? Would this be best practice? or could someone please recommend best practice?

    Hi, i have a grid with a datatype = "local". The data are an array as follows : var mydata = [{id:1,valeur:"a_value",designation:"a_designation"}, {id:2,...}, ...]; The second column (named valeur) is the only editable column of the grid (editable:true set in colModel) In the pager of the grid, i have 2 buttons. So, when cells are in edition mode, all rd.valeur are an input text tag ! when they are not, i get the initials values of the cells ! How to get and save all changes of this column (all cells in edition mode)?

    When running the following Perl code ... use Data::Traverse qw(traverse); use warnings; my $struct = [ 1, 2, { foo => 42 }, [ 3, 4, [ 5, 6, { bar => 43 } ] ], 7, 8 ]; traverse { print "$a => $b\n" if /HASH/ } $struct; ... the warning Name "main::[ab]" used only once: possible typo is given. Since the use of $a and $b is clearly not a typo in this case I want to get rid of the warning. How do I do that while still using warnings?

  • How do I detach a local SVN working copy?

    I cannot just rm -rf $(find . -name '.svn'), because I've got some directories in my working copy which are unversioned (on svn:ignore) and at the same time working copies of other svn repositories. my-repo |+ directory ||- .svn (to delete) ||- files... |+ another_directory ||- .svn (to delete) ||- files... |+ directory_ignored (svn:ignore) ||- .svn (different working copy) ||- more files ... So I'd like to just tell subversion to remove all .svn directories belonging to this working copy only. Is this possible? The directory structure is quite complex, so doing it manually would really suck.

  • web.config inheritance problem

    Hello everyone, I am having an issue when I try and prevent inhertiance from a parent web.config down to a child specifically related to the node. My parent web.config contains about a dozen appSettings values while my child web.config contains none. Now, I originally began wrapping around only my system.net, web, etc nodes however when I ran my child application I recieved the following error: The configuration section 'appSettings' cannot be read because it is missing a section declaration I really wasn't sure what this meant and a google search didn't yield me any decent results so I attempted to move the location node to also encompass the field in my parent web.config but to no avail. My child web.config is pretty vanilla so I am not sure what the problem is. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.     I am using VS2008. I have a project connect with a database and the connection string is read from App.config via ConfigurationManager. We are using L2E. Now I added a helper project, AndeDataViewer, to have a simple UI to display data from the database for testing/verification purpose. I don't want to create another set of Entity Data Model in the helper project. I just added all related files as a link in the new helper project. When I compile, I got the following error: Error 15 The name 'ConfigurationManager' does not exist in the current context C:\workspace\SystemSoftware\SystemSoftware\src\systeminfo\RuntimeInfo.cs 24 40 AndeDataViewer I think I may need to add another project setting/config related file's link to the helper project from the main project? There is no App.config file in the new helper project. But it looks I cannot add that file's link to the helper project. Any ideas?

    I have a set of items that can be in various states. I want to allow a user to use an (X)HTML form to change the state, and easily view the state of a group of objects ...so to this end, I'd like a layout like: | item1 | radio button for state 1 | radio for state 2 | ... | [update button] | | item2 | radio button for state 1 | radio for state 2 | ... | [update button] | etc. I prefer the radio buttons to list boxes so that it's easy for a user to visually scan for things in a certain state. It seemed like perfectly tabular data to me. The only problem is, you can't have forms inside a table that cross table cells (ie. <tr> <form> <td> ... is invalid). I thought, "hey, I could have one giant form wrapping a table, and make the [update button] value contain the IDs for each row!" Turns out certain versions of IE send ALL THE SUBMIT BUTTON VALUES on any single form. So I thought perhaps to to lay it out with <div>s and place the forms inside a single <td>. But then they break a line on each <div>. So I fixed their width and made them float: left. But then they wrap inside the table cells if the table row is wider than the page, and the radio controls don't line up with the headings. Is it possible to lay this out as I intend? The XHTML below shows the intended structure.   • Linq to Sql saying that item by 'Customer' already exists. Choose a different name.

    I have been going round and round with a linq to sql file while using svn for quite some time. The latest is that my dbml file shows as having an error which states that An item named "Customer" already exists. Please choose a different name. And then it repeats that again. In fact, it says it for almost every object. What is my fix? I have tried renaming the one named Customer, but that didn't fix it. I don't know where to go to fix this. I went to the .dbml file and don't see any duplication, and I went to the .dbml.layout file and didn't see any duplication there either.

  • JSON, Ajax login and signup form problem, critique

    Here is my problem; indexdeneme2.php has two forms Sign up and Login form, and there is validation.js and login.js which are handling the AJAX and JSON response, there are validate.php and login.php which are my scripts for validating and login. When you sign up, it sends the data to validate.php perfectly and validate.php response with JSON perfectly, validate.js must show the error in #error div. validation.js works perfectly if it is working alone. I use same kind of script for login form. Login.php also works perfectly it responses with JSON and login.js shows the errors are appear in #errorlogin div. But this works when login.js works alone. When I try to work login.js and validate.js together, it is not working. validate.php and login.php works perfectly but login.js and validation.js are not working together. They can't handle the responses coming from php scripts. It is not showing the errors in #errorlogin and #error div. They intercept each other I guess. By the way if you can critique my login.php and validate.php I will be really appreciated.     I have Windows Application (.EXE file is written in C and built with MS-Visual Studio), that outputs ASCII text to stdout. I’m looking to enhance the ASCII text to include limited HTML with a few links. I’d like to invoke this application (.EXE File) and take the output of that application and pipe it into a Browser. This is not a one time thing, each new web page would be another run of the Local Application! The HTML/java-script application below has worked for me to execute the application, but the output has gone into a DOS Box windows and not to pipe it into the Browser.     Hey! I'm currently working on a web app written in Symfony. I'm supposed to add an "export to CSV" feature in the backend/administration part of the app for some modules. In the list view, there should be an "Export" button which should provide the user with a csv file of the elements that are displayed (considering filtering criteria). I've created a method in the actions class of the module that takes a comma separated list of ids and generates the CSV, but I'm not really sure how to add the link to it in the view. The problem is that the view doesn't exist anywhere, it's generated on the fly from the data in the generator.yml configuration file. I can see from the server log files that the script does not arrive on the Project page. I am new to webrat and quite new to ruby and I am now thoroughly confused. I have no idea why the response.body is gone. I have no idea where I am. I speculated that I had to wait for the page request, but all documentation says that webrat nicely waits till all redirects, pageloads, etc are finished. (At least I think I read that). Besides I find no method to wait for the page in the webrat API. Can someone give some tips on how to proceed with debugging this?
