  • No parameterless constructor defined for this object when simply copying site

    I'm getting the above error. All I have done is copied an existing site and set-up debugging to use a different port using IISExpress in Visual Studio. Any ideas why I would suddenly get this error? Normally I get this error when StructureMap cannot for some reason resolve a dependency to inject into a controller. But this has me stumped. The code-base is the same. All I've done is copied the code into another folder!?!

  • Cast Object to JTable?

    I am trying to implement a ListSelectionListener for some of my JTables. Simply (at the moment) the ListSelectionListener is supposed to simply return the text of the cell that was selected. My program design has several JTables and I would like to have one ListSelectionListener work for them all. In the valueChanged event of the ListSelectionListener I thought it was possible to do something like: private class SelectionHandler implements ListSelectionListener { public void valueChanged(ListSelectionEvent e) { JTable table = (JTable)e.getSource(); String data = (String) table.getValueAt(table.getSelectedRow(), 0); // Print data } } But when I do this I a ClassCastException error. Is there a way to do something like this? One solution I thought of was to compare the source of the event (e.getSource()) to all my JTables to see if they were equivalent (big if block) and then just calling .getValueAt inside that block but that would making the code in the future difficult if tables were to be added or removed.

I have tried something like this: return session.Linq<Enquiry>() .Where(enquiry => enquiry.Created < DateTime.Now) .Select(enquiry => enquiry.Sender) In this case I get an InvalidCastException saying you can't cast type Sender to type Enquiry. Any pointers on how I can do this without using HQL?

  • JavaFX MouseEvent continues when I remove the object it happened on

    It took me a while to realize what was going on with mouse events going through my blocking dialog boxes when I closed them, but I finally figured out why. I still don't know any good way to fix it. I have a custom dialog box (that blocks the mouse) with a close button. When I click the close button, I remove the dialog box from the scene, but JavaFx is still processing the MouseEvent and now it finds that there is nothing blocking the screen behind where the cancel button was, so that component receives a MouseEvent. How do I make the mouseEvent stop processing when I see that they pressed cancel and remove the dialog box? Or, is there a way to make the removing of the dialog box not happen until after it is done processing the MouseEvent?   • Associative Array / Object can't be read in functions

    At the very beginning of the javascript file, I have: var lbp = {}; lbp.defaults = { minLength: 40 }; I can successfully alert it afterwards, with: alert(lbp.defaults.minLength); But as soon as I put it inside a function, when I alert, I get "Undefined". What gives, and how do I avoid this? Is it absolutely necessary to pass this variable into each function, for example, by doing: function(lbp) { alert(lbp.defaults.minLength); } I would have thought that defining it first, it would attain global scope and not be required to be passed in? Thanks in advance for enlightening me :) ==================================== EDIT: The problem seems like it might be my initialize function is itself defined within lbp.   • Problem with passing vector of pointers to objects to member function of another object

    Hi, I have a vector of pointers to Mouse objects called 'mice'. I'm passing the mice to the cat by reference. vector <Mouse*> mice; Cat * c; c->lookForMouse(&mice); And here's my lookForMouse() member function void Cat::lookForMouse(vector <Mouse*> *mice) { ... } And now to the problem! Within the function above, I can't seem to access my mice. This below will not work mice[i]->isActive(); The error message I receive suggests to use mice[i].isActive(), but this throws an error saying isActive() is not a member of std::vector<_Ty ... This works though... vector <Mouse*> miceCopy = *mice; miceCopy[i]->isActive(); I understand that I shouldn't be creating another vector of mice here, it defeats the whole point of passing it by reference (let me know if I'm wrong)... Why can't I do mice[i]-isActive() What should I be doing? Thanks for your time and help :D James.

  • Object to Network serialization - with an existing protocol

    I'm writing a client for a server program written in C++. As is not unusual, all the networking protocol is in a format where packets can be easily memcopied into/out of a C++ structure (1 byte packet code, then different arrangements per packet type). I could do the same thing in C#, but is there an easier way, especially considering lots of the data is fixed-length char arrays that I want to play with as strings? Or should I just suck it up and convert types as needed? I've looked at using the ISerializable interface, but it doesnt look as low level as is required.

  • How can I get the element in which highlighted text is in?

    I am trying to learn how to write a bookmarklet where I can highlight some text, click on the bookmarklet and have it tell me what got highlighted. I can get that far, but next I want to know what element that text is in. For example: <div id="some-id">to be highlighted</div> The bookmarklet code: javascript:(function(){alert(window.getSelection();})() If I highlight the text "to be highlighted" and then click on the bookmarklet, it will alert the text. But how can I get the element in which the text is in, in this case the element after that? So the flow is: highlight text, click bookmarklet, bookmarklet tells you what you highlighted and the element it's in. Thanks!

  • Object-C: initWithContentsOfURL returning null

I'm working on an app that would display a remote html and use local images, so what I'm trying to do is download the HTML of the website and display it as a "local" page, that would have access to images in my bundle. For some reason I can't get initWithContentsOfURL to work. I checked all manuals and examples I could find and it seems that I'm doing it correctly, but the thing just won't work, returns null all the time. The same page loaded with NSURLRequest requestWithURL works fine. Appreciate your help!   • MVVM and avoiding Monolithic God object

    I am in the completion stage of a large project that has several large components: image acquisition, image processing, data storage, factory I/O (automation project) and several others. Each of these components is reasonably independent, but for the project to run as a whole I need at least one instance of each component. Each component also has a ViewModel and View (WPF) for monitoring status and changing things. My question is the safest, most efficient, and most maintainable method of instantiating all of these objects, subscribing one class to an Event in another, and having a common ViewModel and View for all of this. Would it best if I have a class called God that has a private instance of all of these objects? I've done this in the past and regretted it. Or would it be better if God relied on Singleton instances of these objects to get the ball rolling. Alternatively, should Program.cs (or wherever Main(...) is) instantiate all of these components, and pass them to God as parameters and then let Him (snicker) and His ViewModel deal with the particulars of running this projects. Any other suggestions I would love to hear. Thank you!

    Hi I'm working on learning 3d game development and I'm starting with JavaScript and the html5 canvas and I was wondering if I were to have a 3d model do I draw the entire model(front, back, etc) and let the web browser decide what to render or should I try to just draw the sides that are in view of the camera? I ask this because I can see how it would be faster to do the latter of the 2 but that can get very complex and I'll need to do quite a bit more research to find how to do that. Thanks!!

    Is there a way to iterate over every property of an object using the Prototype JavaScript framework? Here's the situation: I am getting an AJAX response in JSON that looks something like this: {foo: 1, bar: 2, barobj: {75: true, 76: false, 85: true}} If I evaluate that json response in to a variable response, I want to be able to iterate over each property in the response.barobj object to see which indexes are true and which are false. Prototype has both Object.keys() and Object.values() but oddly seems to not have a simple Object.each() function! I could take the results of Object.keys() and Object.values() and cross-reference the other as I iterate through one, but that is such a hack that I am sure there is a proper way to do it!

    Say I have two std::set<std::string>s. The first one, old_options, needs to be merged with additional options, contained in new_options. I can't just use std::merge (well, I do, but not only that) because I also check for doubles and warn the user about this accordingly. To this effect, I have void merge_options( set<string> &old_options, const set<string> &new_options ) { // find duplicates and create merged_options, a stringset containing the merged options // handle duplicated the way I want to // ... old_options = merged_options; } Is it better to use std::swap( merged_options, old_options ); or the assignment I have? Is there a better way to filter duplicates and return the merged set than consecutive calls to std::set_intersection and std::set_union to detect dupes and merge the sets? I know it's slower than one traversal and doing both at once, but these sets are small (performance is not critical) and I trust the Standard more than I trust myself.
