• Lucene multiple indexes : Normalize document scores??

  Hi All. Suppose I've got multiple lucene indexes (not replicas) on several PC's. I query each index and then merge the results. Is there any way to normalize the document scores so that I could sort by score (relevance)? I mean, the scores for document A from index A would not be comparable with document B from index B, unless I do some sort of normalization.... not so? Thanks Roey

• Detecting REFERRER 301 redirects in AwStats

  About six months ago, I have moved a website to a new domain, and helped migration using 301 redirects into .htaccess of the old domain. This morning I was looking at AwStats log of the new domain, and was surpised to notice that in the "HTTP Status codes"section, 301 redirects score 77% of the whole codes (seems 200 are not tracked here). So, what is the proper meaning of the 301 code in those stats? Does it mean that 77% of traffic is incoming (referrer) from 301 redirects or?

I cannot find any overload to DrawString or Font that would allow me to do so. g.DrawString("MyString", new Font("Courier", 44, GraphicsUnit.Pixel), Brushes.Black, new PointF(262, 638)); By letter spacing I mean the distance between letters. However, whenever I make internal HTTP requested to servers on the internal network with a fully qualified dns name, the proxy denies the connection. This is an internal call, so it should block it. If I use only http://app-01:9871/internalwebserver_deploy/MyServiceService.svc?wsdl, without the domain after the server name, then it doesn't get blocked. 10.50.75.10 is the firewall's ip, and the internal network's gateway.

I mean when a user touches their iphone screen, drags their finger downwards, and the webview shows a blank spot above the web page I had loaded?   In Entity Framework v1 If you create a Custom Entity to map it to a Stored Procedure during FunctionImport and then Select "Update Model from Database" the Update Model Wizard removes the Custom Entity (as added Manually in the SSDL XML prior to functionImport) from the SSDL. Does anyone know if this limitation has been dealt with Entity Framework v4? I mean is there a way to prevent the Wizard from removing the Custom Entity from the Storage Schema (SSDL) during Model Update from Database????

  Is there a Linux equivalent to the Mac OS X command fs_usage? According to the man page it does the following: "report system calls and page faults related to filesystem activity in real-time". I suppose one option would be to use strace and filter the data, however the fs_usage command allows all the processes running on the system to be "traced" at the same time.   I have multiple noisy photos (caputed without tripod) that needs to be adjusted (moved/rotated) and averaged. How it's better to do it in Linux with FOSS console-based programs? • I dont understand Access modifiers in OOP (JAVA)

  I know this is a silly question but i don't understand Access Modifiers in OOP. Why do we make for example in JAVA instance variables private and then use public getter and setter methods to access them? I mean whats the reasoning/logic behind this? You still get to the instance variable but why use setter and getter methods when you can just make your variables public? please excuse my ignorance as i'm simply trying to understand why we do this?
