• Is Tomcat Shared Session / Cluster between two machine possible?

  I have a setup of several Tomcat servers distributed between a few servers, all running the same thing. Apache is on top of Apache and a loadbalancer in front of the Apache servers. I want to cluster the Tomcats using Shared Session to minimize downtime and user interruption while deploying apps. I know clustering works within the same server but is it possible to setup Tomcat in a way that it shares sessions between servers on different machines? => Server 1 ==> Apache 1 ===> Tomcat 1 => Server 2 ==> Apache 2 ===> Tomcat 2 When Server/Tomcat 1 would be taken down, users and their sessions would transfer over to Server/Tomcat 2 and vice versa.

• apache2 is making my amazon ec2 unavailable, any ideas?

  I have a web server running on a EC2 c1.medium intance. The instance is running on ubuntu, with apache2 and mysql.The ubuntu and apache version are the next; Ubuntu DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=11.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=natty DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 11.04" Apache2 Server version: Apache/2.2.17 (Ubuntu) Server built: Feb 22 2011 18:33:02 Sometimes randomly, my server "hangs up", I cannot connect to it using normal web access or ssh access. If I reboot the instance it reboots fine, the amazon system log doesn't show anything weird, but the problem persists The only way to solve it its stopping the instance, and start it again. • How to add LDAP user to existing local group in RHEL?

  I'm attempting to add some of our LDAP users to a locally defined group on our RHEL server, however I get an error stating that the LDAP user is not found in /etc/passwd. What would be the best way to allow LDAP users to be added to local groups? My feeling is that this must be done manually. I could edit: /etc/group and add the LDAP group to the list. Would that be ideal? • Weblogic 10.3 weblogic.jar classpath issues

  I am upgrading an old WLS8.1 app to 10.3 (11g) My ant build includes only the new weblogic.jar in the compile classpath and the build runs with no issues but when I include weblogic.jar as a libeary in the IDE (Intellij) i see many unresolved imports (for example: weblogic.xml.xpath.DOMXPath) when I check the weblogic.jar I see that the classes are indeed missing from it. compiling with verbose revealed that by including weblogic.jar in the ant classpath, many other jars in the BEA_HOME/modules are loaded to the classpath as well (for example: com.bea.core.xml.weblogic.xpath_1.4.0.0.jar) Can anyone explain what is going on? How can I fix my IDE classpath - do I need to import all the module-jars? Many of the module jars seems like they are there to support old deprecated weblogic 8 APIs (like: weblogic.xml.xpath.DOMXPath) how can I exclude these modules from my ant build? I'm leaning towards Apache's suggestion, as when I want a file cached, I don't want it refreshed.

  In my configuration i used Apche+mod_cluster as a front_end(load balancer) server and two JBOSS AS 7.1.0 as backend server. In my configuration on one system i have install Apache+mod_cluster + JBOSS AS 7.1.0 and on other system JBOSS AS 7.1.0. Both JBOSS AS 7.1.0 are in domain mode means in clustering. My problem is that if Apche+mod_cluster crash than client can not access any JBOSS AS . I want to configure Apache+mod_cluster in Master_Slave format, means if one of Apache+mod_cluter down another Apache+mod_cluster become active and pass client(browser) request to back-end server in normal form without any interruption. Is there any way to make two Apache+mod_cluster to communicate with each other , means to check health status of each other and if any one get down other Apche+mod_cluster will do it's task ......

  Good news everyone! I've implemented support for the Groovy JUnit tests which basically means you can finally use Groovy in the area where is so highly productive! You can create a new Groovy JUnit test in the New File/Groovy/Groovy JUnit test and it should behave in the same way as for Java tests. Which means if there is no JUnit setup in your project yet, you can choose between JUnit 3 and JUnit 4 template and with respect to your choice the project settings will be changed (in case of the Maven based projects the correct dependencies and plugins are added to the pom.xml and in case of the Ant based project the JUnit dependency is configured). Or if the project is already configured, the correct template will be used. After that the test skeleton is created and you can write your own code and of course run the tests together with the java ones. Some of you were asking for this feature and of course I don't expect it will be perfect from the beginning so I would be really glad to see some constructive feedback about what could be improved and/or redesigned ;] ..at the end I have to say that the feature is not active for the Ant based Java EE projects yet (I'm aware of it and it will be fixed to the NetBeans 7.3 final - actually it will be done in a few days/weeks, just want you to know). But it's already complete in all types of the Maven based projects and also for the Ant based J2SE projects. And as always, the daily build where you can try the feature can be downloaded right here, so don't hesitate to try it!

• I Can't run the Netbeans but I installed successfully

  I'm new to Ubuntu as well as Netbeans. I installed Netbeans, and I've made sure to install all the JDKs and JREs I could find. It installed without errors. I also saw this question and made sure I followed all the instructions there as well. I never got any error messages of any kind. So far as I know, it installed okay. However, when I try to run Netbeans, I get the message in the bottom of the Netbeans IDE like this: ant -f /root/NetBeansProjects/samp1 -Djsp.includes=/root/NetBeansProjects/samp1/build/web/one.jsp -DforceRedeploy=false -Dclient.urlPart=/one.jsp -Ddirectory.deployment.supported=true -Djavac.jsp.includes=org/apache/jsp/one_jsp.java -Dnb.wait.for.caches=true run /root/NetBeansProjects/samp1/nbproject/build-impl.xml:774: The libs.CopyLibs.classpath property is not set up. • vsftpd, virtual users and permissions. Avoid using chmod 777?

  I am running vsftpd with Virtual Users (managed through a MySQL db). Each users home/default directory is owned by vsftpd:vsftpd. I need to give a user read/write permissions to some website files, owned by apache:apache so they can make some changes. I did a bind mount for the web directory to a directory in the ftp user's home/default directory. When logging in, the user is not able to write to the web folder, unless I set files to 777. Is it possible to set this up with making the directory and it's files 777? The web directory needs to be apache:apache in order for apache to work with it.

• MapReduce job is hung after 1 of 5 reducers completed on single-node environment

  I have only one Data Node on my dev environment on EC2. I ran heavy MR job and in 6 hours noticed that 100% of mappers and 20% of reducers finished (1 of reducer shows 100% competition, other ones - 0%). Looks like job is hung between 2 reducer runs. I don't see any errors in log files. What it can be? P.S. • mod_proxy failing as forward proxy in simple configuration

  (On Mac OS X 10.6, Apache 2.2.11) Following the oft-repeated googled advice, I've set up mod_proxy on my Mac to act as a forward proxy for http requests. My httpd.conf contains this: <IfModule mod_proxy> ProxyRequests On ProxyVia On <Proxy *> Allow from all </Proxy> (Yes, I realize that's not ideal, but I'm behind a firewall trying to figure out why the thing doesn't work at all) So, when I point my browser's proxy settings to the local server (ip_address:80), here's what happens: I browse to http://www.cnn.com I see via sniffer that this is sent to Apache on the Mac Apache responds with its default home page ("It works!" is all this page says) So... Apache is not doing as expected -- it is not forwarding my browser's request out onto the Internet to cnn. Nothing in the logfile indicates an error or problem, and Apache returns a 200 header to the browser. Clearly there is some very basic configuration step I'm not understanding... but what?

  I've written an extension to RequestTracker for a client, but he says the performance isn't good enough. I'd like to do some profiling, but I'm not sure how to connect up a profiler (say NYTProf, for example)? I tried what the man page says and put PerlModule Devel::NYTProf::Apache in my apache config, but all I get in the results are Apache2:XSLoader, Devel::NYTProf::Apache and ModPerl::Util modules in the results, and neither my own nor RT's modules.

My VPS specs are 1Gb RAM, 2 cores of Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5520 @ 2.27GHz. Now, here is the question. I added cxf-transports-http-jetty.jar as well. Has anyone experienced this kind of problem and found a solution? It seems to be a classpath issue, added the cxf-rt-frontend-jaxws.jar by hand and it works... Somehow the maven dependency doesn't get added to the classpath. Thanks in advance, karl
