    Hello all, I'm looking for a Win32 equivalent of the .Net Encoding.GetEncoding Method to be used in Delphi7. What I would like to achieve is to convert a Codepage ID (ie.: 28592) to a Codepage name (iso-8859-2 in this case). I've found a Win32 function called GetCPInfoEx, but that returns a long CodePage name, and I need the short one, like the ones listed on this page: (see Name column) http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.text.encoding.aspx Thank you!

  • How does one get Vista to display .MOV thumbnails as a frame from the movie?

    I've discovered that Windows Vista explorer shell does not display proper "thumbnail"s for .MOV files. e.g. For .JPG files, the explorer shell, when in Thumbnail mode, displays a scaled down version of the image. But for .MOV files, it displays the same icon as in the non-thumbnail view, which is just some generic thing that shows you it's going to be played with Quicktime or whatever. What XP used to do was show you a frame from the actual movie as the thumbnail. I've looked on internet and found various proposed solutions, but none which actually work. Is there a simple step-by-step process for getting Vista to properly display thumbnails for .MOV files?

    Hello, I need to call the co-class function by reading its address from vtable of COM exposed interface methods. I need some generic way to read addresses. Now I need to call the function, which would have specific address(NOT KNOWN) arguments(parameters) which I have collected from TLB, and name as well. How that address corresponds to that function name to which I am going to call. For this I need to traverse vtable which is holding functional addresses, LASTLY need to correspond function address with NAME of that function. This is I dont know. How? More over one function with the same name may appear in vtable(Overloading case). In that case we need to distinguish function names w.r.t their addresses. How to tackle ? Regards Usman

  • DirectX works for 64-bit but not 32-bit

    I'm trying to play a game (Civilization 5) which was previously working but no longer. I believe I've narrowed it down to a DirectX issue because I get an error running dxdiag.exe in 32 bit mode. My goal (at least I believe) is to get Direct3D Acceleration "Enabled" in dxdiag (as it is in 64 bit dxdiag). A very similar issue is here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-gaming/direct3d-acceleration-is-not-available-in-windows/4c345e6e-dc68-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5?page=1 The proposed answer, which looks very promising, doesn't seem to work for me. Like other users in that thread, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Direct3D\Drivers does not have a SoftwareOnly key to change. I even tried manually adding it as a string and dword, to no avail. I have a NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M, and before you ask, yes I've tried updating (also uninstalling, reinstalling) my drivers. I've also tried doing the same with DirectX (and Civilization 5 for that matter). Been debugging for some 4+ hours now after a full day of work and I've run out of ideas. I'm hoping somebody knows the solution here! :) Here's what I see when I open dxdiag: DxDiag has detected that there mgiht have been a problem accessing Direct3D the last time this program was used. Would you like to bypass Direct3D this time?   • How can I display and log PHP errors on IIS7?

    We're running PHP 5.2.5 on an IIS 7 Server and we're having problems making PHP errors visible... At the moment whenever we have a PHP error the server sends back a 500 error with the message "The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred." This might be a good setting for production websites but it's rather annoying on a development server... ;-) I have tried configuring php.ini to display errors to the screen as well as log them to a specific folder but it seems that the Server catches all errors before and prevents and handling by PHP... Does someone know what we have to do to make IIS display PHP errors on screen? Any links, tipps or tutorials on the subject would be appreciated!

  • Is using ReaderWriterLockSlim a bad idea for long lived objects?

    I am trying to track down the reason that an application has periods of bad performance. I think that I have linked the bad performance to the points where Garbage Collection is run for Gen 2. I get a profiling tool (CLR Profiler) and was quite surprised by the results. In my test I was spawning and processing millions of objects. However the biggest hog of the Gen 2 space comes from something Called Threading.ReaderWriterCount which comes from System.Threading.ReaderWriterLockSlim::InitializeThreadCounts. I know nothing about the inner workings of ReaderWriterLockSlim but from what I am getting from the reports it is okay to have 1 or 2 Locks for longer lived objects but try and use other locks if you are going to have many smaller objects. Does anyone have any comments or experience with ReaderWriterLockSlim and/or what to look for if it seems that GC is killing application performance?

  • Can I use a display driver from Windows 8 in Windows 7?

    My latest display driver doesn't support WDDM 1.0, and I need it to be at least version 1.1. I've been attempting to get the Windows Phone 7 SDK working on my HP Pavillion dv9000, but the phone emulator requires 1.1 or higher. My drivers are as up-to-date as they can get. I even tried a modded driver found here, but no go. Then, while evaluating Windows 8 Developer Preview on a different partition I noticed that dxdiag.exe showed it was using WDDM 1.2. I tried installing Windows Phone 7 SDK on Windows 8, but I get an "Internal Error" popup and "Connection failed because of invalid command-line arguments" in the error window in Visual Studio. I'm guessing because Windows Phone 7 SDK isn't supported on Windows 8 yet. So my question is this: Can I get Windows 7 to use the display driver Windows 8 is using to get WDDM 1.2 on Windows 7 and how would I go about doing it?

    I have noticed that when a printer or driver screws up on a Windows server it usually locks up or kills the print spooler and everyone can't print until it is fixed. Usually we have to put the troublesome printer on another server so when it fails, it doesn't take the whole group with it. That is assuming we ever figure out which printer is the problem. Is there a way to have it so that one bad apple doesn't ruin the bunch? Even if it is another form of printer serving, that would work as long as it's not hard for the user to find a printer and install drivers.

I'm trying to display on a web page database records related to files, which was saved in MySQL database. All works fine if a volume of data is small. But the volume of data is big I'm recieving an error "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space" I've tried to write in blobFields null values on each row of table. In this case, application works fine, memory doesn't go out of. I have a conclusion that the blob field which is marked as lazy (@Basic(fetch=FetchType.LAZY)) isn't lazy, actually!   • b Is it bad to have the Reverse DNS for two IPs point to the same domain name?

    I am in the process of setting up a new server for my web application (the site will be moved, it is not for load balancing or the like), which has a different IP address from my existing server. My current server has a reverse DNS PTR record set up pointing its IP to mydomain.com. Is it bad to set up a reverse DNS PTR record for the new IP pointing to mydomain.com as well? Or should I wait until I do my migration to set up the record? Update: I forgot to mention, the A record for the mydomain.com points to the old server's IP address, not the new one, if it matters.

  • Regex to ensure group match doesn't end with a specific character

    I'm having trouble coming up with a regular expression to match a particular case. I have a list of tv shows in about 4 formats: Name.Of.Show.S01E01 Name.Of.Show.0101 Name.Of.Show.01x01 Name.Of.Show.101 What I want to match is the show name. My main problem is that my regex matches the name of the show with a preceding '.'. My regex is the following: "^([0-9a-zA-Z\.]+)(S[0-9]{2}E[0-9]{2}|[0-9]{4}|[0-9]{2}x[0-9]{2}|[0-9]{3})" Some Examples: >>> import re >>> SHOW_INFO = re.compile("^([0-9a-zA-Z\.]+)(S[0-9]{2}E[0-9]{2}|[0-9]{4}|[0-9]{2}x[0-9]{2}|[0-9]{3})") >>> match = SHOW_INFO.match("Name.Of.Show.S01E01") >>> match.groups() ('Name.Of.Show.', 'S01E01') >>> match = SHOW_INFO.match("Name.Of.Show.0101") >>> match.groups() ('Name.Of.Show.0', '101') >>> match = SHOW_INFO.match("Name.Of.Show.01x01") >>> match.groups() ('Name.Of.Show.', '01x01') >>> match = SHOW_INFO.match("Name.Of.Show.101") >>> match.groups() ('Name.Of.Show.', '101') So the question is how do I avoid the first group ending with a period?
