Obviously nothing is 100% secure, but can this information be extracted easily from an installed app? How do you recommend storing these keys to use them in the source code? In a practical manner: I have a python library that has 2 implementations of the same function, one internal (slow) and one that depends from an external library (fast, in C). I want that this library is optional and can be activated at compile/install time using a flag like: python setup.py install # (it doesn't include the fast library) python setup.py --enable-fast install I have to use Distutils, however all solution are well accepted!

We use NameCheap.com for our DNS services and they offer a choice of 2 very competitively priced wildcard certs: PositiveSSL Wildcard $129.99/yr RapidSSL Wildcard $148.88/yr Is there any reason to choose one of these branded certs over the other?     I have a working intranet server that: Properly serves some content from http://hqmktgwb01/ Is currently properly configured to reverse proxy from http://hqmktgwb01/dashstats to a round-robin of localhost:3000 - localhost:3003 Also has the DNS name dashstats (going to the same IP) The current working configuration file can be found here: http://pastie.org/1426082 I would like to modify the configuration so that:    4. http://dashstats/ performs the same reverse proxying http://hqmktgwb01/dashstats. I (naively) modified the config like this: http://pastie.org/1426047 (added lines 90-98) but this is not a valid Apache config. Please help me to modify the original config file to accomplish 1-4 above.

  • How difficult is it to setup a mailserver?

    I want a secure mail solution, as I am looking to move away from Google and other parties looking into my private data. How much of a PITA is it to setup my own mailserver? Should I go for an external provider with a good privacy policy and encrypted data instead? I have a VPS running Debian (with a dedicated IP + reverse DNS), and I'm a fairly capable Linux administrator, having setup a couple of webservers, home networks, and looking over the shoulder of sysadmins at work. The security I currently have on the VPS is limited to iptables and installing/running the bare minimum of what I need (currently basically irssi and lighttpd). When setting up a mail server, is there a lot of stuff to take into consideration? Will my outgoing mail be marked as spam on other servers if I don't implement a number of solutions? Will reliable spam filtering be difficult to setup? Can I easily encrypt the stored mail?

  • Are there any home/soho NAS devices that will backup/sync to the cloud?

    Looking for a home office (SOHO) market (priced) network hard drive (NAS) that will sync some or all of its content to a cloud-based backup service. The only option I've been able to find so far is NetGear's [ReadyNAS Vault][1] however from what I've read it's not as secure as it could be, and the service is quite expensive ($200/yr for 50GB of cloud storage) - it's 'powered' by ElephantDrive Ideally would love to see something like Wuala integrated into a Lacie Network HDD - conveniently, I suspect this is in the works as Lacie recently acquired Wuala, however nothing has come of it yet. I know there are options to use rsync with a customizable NAS (such as the very versatile and hackable D-Link DNS-323, but the easier this is to setup and maintain, the better. Thanks! ps.     what i want to do is to redirect all visitors going to example.com to www.example.com.it seems a very common task but for some reason it is not working for this specific site .it always points to the default one.     I'm trying to use a custom sort with a ListView, as described in this blog entry. I'm doing ListCollectionView view = (ListCollectionView)CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(TheList.ItemsSource); as recommended there and in several other places, but for some reason I'm getting "Unable to cast object of type 'MS.Internal.Data.EnumerableCollectionView' to type 'System.Windows.Data.ListCollectionView'." (TheList is of type ListView). What could be causing this?

  • Wildcard SSL Certificates with Exchange 2010?

    Is anyone using a Wildcard Cert with Exchange 2010 please? We currently have a bunch of individual whatever.domain.com SSL certificates and as several are expiring soon it would be an ideal opportunity to move to a wildcard certificate. At some point though we will be moving from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010, and I've read conflicting reports over whether wildcard certs work with Exchange 2010 as many guides seem to recommend a UCC/SAN certificate. Our internal DNS domain name is the same as our external domain name. Godaddy look like good VFM given they allow use on unlimited physical servers. Thanks in advance.

  • Connecting Windows XP to Windows 7 directly using cable

    These are the problems I am encountering. XP can access Windows 7, not the other way around (which is fine, because I don't need it the other way currently) File transfer is too slow like 0.031 MB/s even though netperf and netCPS list around 8-9 MB/s. I disabled firewall on both computers. Both are same workgroup. I left homegroup on Windows 7. Windows 7 sees the connection as unidentified network. 10.1.1.2 (XP) and 10.1.1.1 (Windows 7) Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Default gateway and DNS are empty for both of them. Both computer are connected to internet using wireless (using home network), and both of them are connected to each other using wire! If anybody has any pointers, do let me know. I have no problem doing such setup with both computers being Windows 7. This time one of them is XP though, and that seems to be the problem.

  • Bounced email on Google App Engine

    I'm developing application for google app engine (python), witch needs not only to send emails, but also know which ones bounce back. I created special account for my domain [email protected], added it as an app admin and sending messages from it. The problem is (and it was described here http://code.google.com/p/googleappengine/issues/detail?id=1800) - GAE sets the Return-Path to some internal email address, not allowing to receive bounced email messages. Anyone aware of any possible workaround for this? Thanks.

    In my bash scripts I have been using something like: until fping -u google.com; do echo "$0[$$] Network/DNS down?? $(date)" 1>&2 && sleep $(($RANDOM%(1 + ++trynum * 1) +1)).222; done to test for online connectivity. It halts in place, sleeping growing random intervals, until it can ping google.com again. Problem: At some sites ICMP pings are blocked altogether, and web pages are still reachable. What's a short way to test for this general case? Based on that test I will switch over to an http-based test like the exit status of curl -s google.com >/dev/null if that is a good one.

  • Why does keyboard-slide crash my app?

    If I physically slide out the keyboard on my Moto Droid A855, it crashes my test app with the stack trace pasted below. I don't understand why? Also, if I start my app with the keyboard out, my app crashes immediately on startup. The app consists of an activity, which contains a viewflipper as the main view layout.   • Use native HBitmap in C# while preserving alpha channel/transparency. Please check this code, it works on my computer...

    Let's say I get a HBITMAP object/handle from a native Windows function. I can convert it to a managed bitmap using Bitmap.FromHbitmap(nativeHBitmap), but if the native image has transparency information (alpha channel), it is lost by this conversion. There are a few questions on Stack Overflow regarding this issue. Using information from the first answer of this question (How to draw ARGB bitmap using GDI+?), I wrote a piece of code that I've tried and it works. It basically gets the native HBitmap width, height and the pointer to the location of the pixel data using GetObject and the BITMAP structure, and then calls the managed Bitmap constructor: Bitmap managedBitmap = new Bitmap(bitmapStruct.bmWidth, bitmapStruct.bmHeight, bitmapStruct.bmWidth * 4, PixelFormat.Format32bppArgb, bitmapStruct.bmBits); As I understand (please correct me if I'm wrong), this does not copy the actual pixel data from the native HBitmap to the managed bitmap, it simply points the managed bitmap to the pixel data from the native HBitmap. And I don't draw the bitmap here on another Graphics (DC) or on another bitmap, to avoid unnecessary memory copying, especially for large bitmaps. I can simply assign this bitmap to a PictureBox control or the the Form BackgroundImage property. And it works, the bitmap is displayed correctly, using transparency. When I no longer use the bitmap, I make sure the BackgroundImage property is no longer pointing to the bitmap, and I dispose both the managed bitmap and the native HBitmap. The Question: Can you tell me if this reasoning and code seems correct. I hope I will not get some unexpected behaviors or errors.     Running directly on command line the batch script works. The network name cannot be found. Any ideas? Google is turning up nothing useful, just keep finding results relating to DNS etc, but using IP address here.

  • SVN directories not showing up in localhost when using WAMP

    Hi: I recently installed WAMP for actual local use. I've worked on live development servers but now am working on localhost. I've managed to get multiple virtual hosts setup on my WAMP/Vista 64-bit box but am having difficulty with directories pulled from SVN. I have four vhosts setup. Two work well and they are not tied to any SVN just yet. I'm also using TortoiseSVN in case it makes any difference. However, the other projects are coming from SVN repositories. When I view these two projects I get the following error: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, admin@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log.   • Opening XNA Xbox 360 assemblies in Reflector

    I'd like to get a look at the differences between the Xbox 360 and Windows XNA assemblies. I know the 360 runs the .NET Compact Framework and I was under the impression that Reflector could read CF assemblies, but when I open them, all of the methods are blank and no internal classes are shown. Is this done on purpose, or is it a limitation of Reflector? Is there another way to see how the Xbox 360 XNA assemblies work?
