    Do i need to use try catch in my stored procedure to know where exactly in my procedure error has occured or can i achieve the same if i useSqlConnection.BeginTransaction in my ASP.NET form or simple try catch may be...??? I tried implementing try catch in my stored procedure..i m using sql server 2005 but it does not know TRY and CATCH keywords or ERROR_MESSAGE() function...i also installed sql server 2005 service manager but still it does not work.. if an error is thrown using RAISERROR method will the exception will be shown in my ASP.NET form??

  • Multiple IPs on firewall, are these virtual interfaces or what?

    We have 5 static IP addresses from our ISP: XXX.XXX.XXX.180 XXX.XXX.XXX.181 XXX.XXX.XXX.182 XXX.XXX.XXX.183 XXX.XXX.XXX.184 On our firewall box, the NIC that is connected to our cable modem, appears to have all 5 IP addresses set on it. A previous IT guy set this thing up, and I'm not sure exactly what he did. Are these virtual interfaces on this NIC or what?     Hi, I need to copy my numbers from my private Nokia to my office BB. I have not found a way to export my phone numbers from ovi or elsewhere. On Mac iSync stopped working with snow leopard and OVI on windows does not export. I do not mind using a windows suggestion. I lost a description on how to use the ovi backup files in another program. What I have done so far terminal: sudo open -a iSync.app - it launched but iSync said "this device is not supported by iSync" went here http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/isync/compatibility-and-download found a plugin (I am sure that was not there a while ago :| ) Checked software version 22.0.110 installed plugin Ran iSync which found and installed my N97 device successfully. synced. It stopped with The connection was lost while talking to the phone. http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/t5/Nseries-and-S60-Smartphones/N97-iSync-Multimedia-Transfer-Modem/m-p/568560 no news since Jan 2010. Tried to download and install http://best-vcard.en.softonic.com/symbian but the installer fails :( I simply do not understand why Nokia is giving us such a hard time. I would not have considered switching from Nokia if Mac had been better supported. It is so frustrating that they just seem not to care losing Nokia fanbois like me - especially since I am this outspoken on the net and what i say on popular forums gets indexed by google fast. I am very close to just go iPhone here. Hope someone has Nokia's ears UPDATE: I Downloaded NbuExplorer from sourceforge. It will extract everything from an OVI backup into VCF, VCS and VMG files. Very useful software and free.

  • Why can't I connect to computers on my network using our external IP address?

    My home network is serviced by an ADSL line. The modem is in bridged mode. The router performs the PPPoE. Three computers are connected to the router: two wired Windows 7 boxes and a Ubuntu Linux box over wifi. The computers are hosting various forms of services including FTP and HTTP. The router has port forwarding mapped from the relevant ports to the reserved IP addresses for the computers. If I attempt to connect to a server inside the network, such as ftp://67.xx.xxx.xxx from inside the network, the request times out. However if I connect using the internally mapped address, such as ftp://192.168.0.100, all is well. This is a nuisance for setting up software, especially on the laptop which needs to be able to phone home from anywhere, and I just don't have enough expertise with networking to know why this is occurring to even have a clue whether it can be solved or not. edit: It should be noted that the servers can be accessible outside the network - say, at the starbucks across the street - perfectly fine, using the ISP provided address and the appropriate port.

  • Cooling Server Closet - No A/C Is Possible

    We're moving into a new office in an old building in London (that's England :) and are walling off a 2m x 1.3m area where the router & telephone equipment currently terminates to use as a server closet. The closet will contain: 2 24-port switches 1 router 1 VSDL modem 1 Dell desktop 1 4-bay NAS 1 HP micro-server 1 UPS Miscellaneous minor telephony boxes. There is no central A/C in the office and there never will be. We can install ducting to the outside quite easily - it's only a couple of metres to the windows, which face a courtyard. My question is whether installing an extractor fan with ducting to the window should be sufficient for cooling? Would an intake fan and intake duct (from the window, too) be required? We don't want to leave a gap in the closet door as that'll let noise out into the office. If we don't have to put a portable A/C unit into the closet, that'd be perfect. The office has about 12 people; London is temperate, average maximum in August is 31 Celsius, 25 Celsius is more typical. The same equipment runs fine in our current office (same building as new office, also no A/C) but it isn't in an enclosed space. I can see us putting say one Dell 2950 tower server into the closet, but no more than that. So, sustained power consumption in the closet would currently be about 800w (I'm guessing); possibly in the future 2kw. The closet will have a ceiling and no windows and be well-insulated. We don't care if the equipment runs hot, so long as it runs and we don't hear it.

  • What keeps you from changing your public IP address and wreak havok?

    An interesting question was asked to me and I did not know what to answer.. So I'll ask here. Let's say I subscribed to an ISP and I'm using cable internet access. ISP gives me a public IP address of 60.61.62.63. What keeps me from changing this IP address to, let's say, 60.61.62.75 and mess with another consumer's internet access? For the sake of this argument, let's say that this other IP address is also owned by the same ISP. Also, let's assume that it's possible for me to go into the cable modem settings and manually change the IP address. Under a business contract where you are allocated static addresses, you are also assigned a default gaetway, a network address and a broadcast address. So that's 3 addresses the ISP "loses" to you. That seems very wastefull for dynamically assigned IP addresses where the majority of customers are.. Could they simply be using static arps? ACLs? Other simple mechanisms? Anyone who worked at an ISP would be willing to explain this a bit?

However, when I deploy the report to the server and view the report in the Report Manager, the image shows with a broken X icon. Has anyone experienced this?

    In my code I'm attempting to use a transaction using TransactionScope with Entity Framework. While in this transaction we are opening a regular SQL connection to a seperate server and database. When the conn.Open() is called we get an Error: "Network access for Distributed Transaction Manager (MSDTC) has been disabled. Please enable DTC for network access in the security configuration for MSDTC using the Componet Services Administrative tool." However, MSDTC is enabled and running on the Server.

  • fast way to find network user computer on domain hogging all wan bandwidth

    i have a network of about 40 domain users and i have huge latency wan issues, like 1400ms for google.com pings. I have noticed that the problem goes away after everyone goes home for the day. I would like to know if i should use something like a hub with wireshark on the router or modem to see if there are any irregular activity. I am open to suggestions but i need to isolate which user has the bug. I am assuming it is either downloads or someone spamming out heavily and not knowing. It would be best to trace to ip number so i can just look into dns and find the pc hostname with the problem? This is the first client i have this problem with so never really needed to address it before but not suprised as users don't actually listen to any best practices that we have suggested. Please help, thanks. just to update, pc's to routers and other computers have ping latency of 1ms so it is right after i hit the wan, using tracert to a web site (random), that i get the massive delay in the responses. As well this is a dsl line with 5mb down and 650kb up (maybe upload saturation?) thanks.

Microsoft Software iSCSI Initiator tells "Logon failure" upon connect attempt. After unsuccessful connection attempt I've noticed this line in dmesg | tail's output: iscsi_trgt: ioctl(299) invalid ioctl cmd c078690d So the question is — what's wrong with my config/iSCSI target/whatever else?     I'm having a problem with my home network. So my setup is like this: In my Router (using Ubuntu desktop v11.04), I installed squid proxy as my transparent proxy. So I would like to use dyndns to my home network so I could be access my server from the internet, and also I installed CCTV camera and I would like to enable watching it from internet. The problem is I cannot access it from outside the net. I already set DMZ in my modem to my router ip. My first guess is because i'm using iptables to redirect all inside network to use squid. And not allow from outside traffic to my inside network.   • Why can't I route to some sites from my MacBook Pro that I can see from my iPad?

    I am on M1 Cable (residential) broadband in Singapore. I have an intermittent problem routing to some sites from my MacBook Pro—often Google-related sites (arduino.googlecode.com and ajax.googleapis.com right now, but sometimes even gmail.com.) This prevents StackExchange chat from working, for instance. Funny thing is, my iPad can route to those sites and they're on the same wireless network! I can ping the sites, but not traceroute to them which I find odd. That I can get through via the iPad implies the problem is with the MBP. In any case, calling M1 support is... not helpful. I get the same behaviour when I bypass the Airport Express entirely and plug the MBP directly into the cable modem.   • Configuration for Router Behind Uverse 2Wire

    I have a 2Wire Uverse router(RG). I'm not particularly fond of it and want to use it as a modem only. I have a Linksys router with Tomato firmware on it and want that to be configured as the router. Most of the "guides" I've seen in my searches has been to enable DMZ Plus mode, but I don't see a way to make that work while my router has a static IP address. I played with it for quite some time yesterday and didn't see a way to get it to work. Then I ran across a setting in broadband for configuring another network. I played with that for a little bit but ran out of time and couldn't get it to work. So my question is for anyone out there who has Uverse and successfully setup a Tomato based firmware router behind the RG. How did you get it configured? I'm sure if I continued playing with it I could get it to work, but if someone out there already has it working then that would make my life easier. Thoughts? Thanks.

  • Speeding up Outlook Express on Windows XP over satellite

    My brother is in the field with Doctors Without Borders. I'm posting this question on his behalf. We use outlook express (on a pc running windows XP) and a 9600 baud dial up satellite phone modem to get our email direct from the server in Paris. As this is a very expensive way to communicate (our satellite bill is $50K a year, no joke), it seems like trying to streamline is a good idea. Here's the question- when we connect, the sequence goes: Send outbox mails. This goes pretty quickly, probably 10-15 seconds for each email, up to maybe a couple minutes for an email of 150k or so). The status bar moves pretty quickly, according to the emails sent. The system then says "Checking for new messages on (our account name), and "Receiving list of messages from server". This takes a long time. Like 10-15 minutes. The status bar crawls along. Then it receives the messages. "Receiving messages from server". Again, each message takes 10-15 seconds, and this part moves along reasonably fast. I'm curious as to what is going on in the second part. It takes forever, and doesn't seem to be part of the sending or receiving messages themselves. Is there a way to speed up the process by changing a preference with communicating with the server or something? Does anyone have any advice for him speeding up what Outlooks Express is doing? Obviously his software is ancient and adding more software is not realistic based on the connection speed. Thanks!
