  • Building a simple cart using object orientated PHP

    I've built basic shopping carts with PHP before but in an attempt to get my feet wet with OOP, I'd like to try using that method. I come from a design background but do understand some basics of OOP but would like to see a tutorial or something simple I could base this on. The site is small and the cart functionality required is very standard. Can anyone offer a link to a decent tutorial or article on building a Cart with PHP OOP, a quick google didn't turn up anything decent.

  • PHPMailer - what sending method is most appropriate?

    Hello. I need to use PHPMailer to send emails out for the following reasons: small lists (less then 500) password resets general notifications, 100ish emails at a time And PHPMailer gives me the option to send via mail(), sendmail, or SMTP. Is there any reason to prefer one of these methods over the other? I don't know enough about email services in general to make an informed decision.

  • Pascal's repeat... until vs. C's do... while

    In C there is a do while loop and pascal's (almost) equivalent is the repeat until loop, but there is a small difference between the two, while both structures will iterate at least once and check whether they need to do the loop again only in the end, in pascal you write the condition that need to met to terminate the loop (REPEAT UNTIL something) in C you write the condition that need to be met to continue the loop (DO WHILE something). Is there a reason why there is this difference or is it just an arbitrary decision?

    Hi , i am doing one small application , wheich have login functionality, in the user table am maintaining the AVAILABLE status for the logged USER, example : i have three user called foo1,foo2,foo3 , When foo1 logged then his AVAILABLE STATUS WILL UPDATE AS 1 IN THE USERTABLE, if he logged out then his AVAILABLE STATUS goes to 0, like the foo2, and foo3 , for this available status flasg , amsimply using the update operation ..no other big functionality , Now What i want is, If somthing happened when user logged in , then i want to make the available status as 0, Somthing means , I WANT TO CHANGE THE AVAILABLE STATUS TO 0 , WHEN system CRASH OR browser crash Thanks Bharanikumar

  • How to find the ocean using Google Maps API

    I am trying to figure out where the ocean is in an arbitrary Google Maps view. I actually have the lat lon (a range of points, when joined together form the coastline) of the coastline. But how do I tell which side of this line is the coastline? One possible solution would be to find the latlon of the nearest service or town or business or something, and then the ocean is obviously on the other side (given a small enough enclosing polygon). Is there a better way?

  • Iframe covers navigation bar, needs close, open to fix?

When I put invalid input inside the form, the iframe covers up the navigation bar and I can't get the navigation bar back without closing and opening the page again.     I know the .NET framework and WPF pretty well, but I think the whole thing has gotten too blown up, especially for small apps as the whole .NET framework 3.5 weighs 197 MB by now. I am looking for a language/framework/library that provides functionality similar to that of WPF (animations, gradients, a.s.o.) and the .NET framework (of course not everything, but the basic features) and which is faster and more lightweight than the .NET framework and creates smaller and faster applications than the ones using .NET. Do you have any suggestions?

  • Soften a colour border, maybe with a gradient, programmatically.

    I have a narrow header in corporate colour, bright red, with the content below on a just-off-white background. Ive tried softening the long line where these colours meet using border type divs with intermediate backgrounds, but I think I need the original type curved gradient 'area transitions'. I could copy the 1024px wide, and too narrow (vertically), header gif from their web site, and chop it up for eight border images, but that seems clumsy, and I'm looking for something I can apply anywhere, without needing images. I am able to do round borders in the x-y plane, but I'm curious as to how I can apply a gradient to any chosen colour transition. The extra divs I'm using as border elements above and below '#top-section' arose when I was toying with making many divs for one bordered element.   • Help me write my LISP :) LISP environments, Ruby Hashes...

    I'm implementing a rudimentary version of LISP in Ruby just in order to familiarize myself with some concepts. I'm basing my implementation off of Peter Norvig's Lispy (http://norvig.com/lispy.html). There's something I'm missing here though, and I'd appreciate some help... He subclasses Python's dict as follows: class Env(dict): "An environment: a dict of {'var':val} pairs, with an outer Env." def __init__(self, parms=(), args=(), outer=None): self.update(zip(parms,args)) self.outer = outer def find(self, var): "Find the innermost Env where var appears." return self if var in self else self.outer.find(var) He then goes on to explain why he does this rather than just using a dict. However, for some reason, his explanation keeps passing in through my eyes and out through the back of my head. Why not use a dict, and then inside the eval function, when a new "sub-environment" needs to be created, just take the existing dict and update the key/value pairs that need to be updated, and pass that new dict into the next eval? Won't the Python interpreter keep track of the previous "outer" envs? And won't the nature of the recursion ensure that the values are pulled out from "inner" to "outer"? I'm using Ruby, and I tried to implement things this way. Something's not working though, and it might be because of this, or perhaps not. Here's my eval function, env being a regular Hash: def eval(x, env = $global_env) ........ elsif x[0] == "lambda" then ->(*args) { eval(x[2], env.merge(Hash[*x[1].zip(args).flatten(1)])) } ........ end The line that matters of course is the "lambda" one. If there is a difference, what's importantly different between what I'm doing here and what Norvig did with his Env class? If there's no difference, then perhaps someone can enlighten me as to why Norvig uses the Env class. Thanks :)

    I am developing a Delphi documents management application, so somehow I am giving the user some functionality similar to windows explorer. I would like to know if there is a way to get the preview used by windows explorer. For example windows explorer creates a small thumbnail for a pdf document for example, and displays it when the user chooses to view "big icons". Is there a way to retrieve that preview?   • Is there a way to iterate over all open windows in Mac OS X?

    When you unplug an external monitor with a higher resolution that your macbook from your laptop, the windows mostly retain their width, but their size gets clipped to the (smaller) height of the macbook screen. When you plug the monitor back in, their size remains frustratingly small. My question is: is there any way that I can iterate over all open windows, save their size, and restore them once the monitor gets plugged in again?

I am struggling with the "D" my understanding on Dependency Inversion I sometimes confuse with Dependency Injection is that as long as you keep things depending on abstraction (IE:interfaces) you are done.
