  • Filtering out specific objects from a search query in Alfresco using Java

    I have a HashSet containing all groups I've retrieved from my database. I've been asked to filter this result by removing two specific groups. It seems trivial but I can't seem to come up with a solid solution for storing the specific groups I want to filter out. My idea is to just create an array containing references to the two groups I need to filter out. I can then filter out my search query with whatever is in the array.     Hi all I am trying to build a PHP class to check the username and password in MySql. I am getting "mysql_query(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in D:\2010Portfolio\football\main.php on line 38" database has errors:" message. When I move my userQuery code out of my Class, it works fine. Only if it is inside my Class. I am not sure if the problem is that I don't build the connection to mysql inside my Class or not.   • Which fieldtype is best for storing PRICE values?

    Hi there I am wondering whats the best "price field" in MSSQL for a shoplike structure? Looking at this overview: http://www.teratrax.com/sql_guide/data_types/sql_server_data_types.html We have datatypes called money, smallmoney, then we have decimal/numeric and lastly float and real Name, memory/disk-usage and value ranges: Money: 8 bytes (values: -922,337,203,685,477.5808 to +922,337,203,685,477.5807) Smallmoney: 4 bytes (values: -214,748.3648 to +214,748.3647) Decimal: 9 [default, min. 5] bytes (values: -10^38 +1 to 10^38 -1 ) Float: 8 bytes (values: -1.79E+308 to 1.79E+308 ) Real: 4 bytes (values: -3.40E+38 to 3.40E+38 ) My question is: is it really wise to store pricevalues in those types? what about eg. INT? Int: 4 bytes (values: -2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647) Lets say a shop uses dollars, they have cents, but I dont see prices being $49.2142342 so the use of a lot of decimals showing cents seems waste of SQL bandwidth. Secondly, most shops wouldn't show any prices near 200.000.000 (not in normal webshops at least... unless someone is trying to sell me a famous tower in Paris) So why not go for an int? An int is fast, its only 4 bytes and you can easily make decimals, by saving values in cents instead of dollars and then divide when you present the values. The other approach would be to use smallmoney which is 4 bytes too, but this will require the math part of the CPU to do the calc, where as Int is integer power... on the downside you will need to divide every single outcome. Are there any "currency" related problems with regionalsettings when using smallmoney/money fields? what will these transfer too in C#/.NET ? Any pros/cons? Go for integer prices or smallmoney or some other? Whats does your experience tell?

    I found some code to delete folders, in this case deleting all but 'n' # of folders. I created 10 test folders, plus 1 that was already there. I want to delete all but 4. The code works, it leaves 4 of my test folders, except that it also leaves the other folder. Is there some attribute of the other folder that's getting checked in the batch file that's stopping it from getting deleted ? It was created through a job a couple of weeks ago.   • MySQL: Is it faster to use inserts and updates instead of insert on duplicate key update?

    I have a cron job that updates a large number of rows in a database. Some of the rows are new and therefore inserted and some are updates of existing ones and therefore update. I use insert on duplicate key update for the whole data and get it done in one call. But- I actually know which rows are new and which are updated so I can also do inserts and updates seperately. Will seperating the inserts and updates have advantage in terms of performance? What are the mechanics behind this ? Thanks!

    Hi I guess we cannot do this but was just curious if I could do something like - Select * from Employee where EmployeeId=1 and then use the data in the above statement and directly insert into a table with just changing the employeeid...or just this way- insert into Employee ( Select * from Employee where EmployeeId=1) its probably stupid from my side...but I just felt the need to do this a lot of times...so just was curious if there was any way to achieve it..

    I have some demanding mysql queries that are needed to grap same up-to-date datasets from 5-7 mysql tables. I am thinking of creating a table or materialized view to gather all demanding columns from other tables, so as to increase performance. If I create that table, I may need to do extra insert / update / delete operation each time other tables updated. if I create materialized view, I am worrying if the performance can be greatly improved. Because data from other tables are changing very frequently. Most likely, the view may need to be created first everytime before selecting it. Any ideas? e.g. how to cache? other extra measures I can do?

This code creates index but in F database: sQuery = "CREATE INDEX IF NOT EXISTS [INDID] ON [PANEL]([ID] ASC);"; I tried to add the name qualifier before table name like this: sQuery = "CREATE INDEX IF NOT EXISTS [INDID] ON [M.PANEL]([ID] ASC);"; but SQLite returns with message that column main.M.PANEL does not exist. What can I do?

TABLE foldersA ( ID title ) TABLE foldersB ( ID title ) TABLE records ( ID folderID folderType title ) folderID in table "records" can point to ID in either "foldersA" or "foldersB" depending on the value of folderType. (0 or 1). I am wondering: Is there a way to create a CASCADE rule such that the appropriate rows in table records are automatically deleted when a row in either foldersA or folderB is deleted? Or in this situation, am I forced to have to delete the rows in table "records" programatically? Thanks for you help!

    I have been going mad trying to figure out why my scripts weren't working, until I started copying and pasting sample source code directly from a few websites only to have it fail there as well. I am getting the following error in my VBScripts: C:\temp\vbs\script.vbs(19, 53) Microsoft VBScript compilation error: Expected statement' For a line of code that looks like this: wdoc.Application.Selection.Find.Execute Replace:=wdReplaceAll This is interfacing with Microsft Word in Office 2007 to conduct a search and replace. Index 53 point directly to the := part of the assignment. Since this type of syntax doesn't work on my machine and I am using it from several websites, I was wondering if the cscript.exe I use is out of date. Am I not calling cscript properly?

    Project: WCF Data service using internally EF4 CTP5 Code-First approach. I configured entities with inheritance (TPH). See previous question on this topic: Previous question about multiple entities- same table The mapping works well, and unit test over EF4 confirms that queries runs smoothly. My entities looks like this: ContactBase (abstract) Customer (inherits from ContactBase), this entity has also several Navigation properties toward other entities Resource (inherits from ContactBase) I have configured a discriminator, so both Customer and Resource map to the same table. Again, everythings works fine on the Ef4 point of view (unit tests all greens!) However, when exposing this DBContext over WCF Data services, I get: - CustomerBases sets exposed (Customers and Resources sets seems hidden, is it by design?) - When I query over Odata on Customers, I get this error: Navigation Properties are not supported on derived entity types. Entity Set 'ContactBases' has a instance of type 'CodeFirstNamespace.Customer', which is an derived entity type and has navigation properties. Please remove all the navigation properties from type 'CodeFirstNamespace.Customer'.   • What's currently the best way to extend Excel using C#?

    I have the professional versions of VS2008 & VS2010. I wish to add a couple buttons to a toolbar in Excel. When they are clicked I'd like to be able to open a form (either WinForms or WPF is fine) collect a few values from the user in the form and then take that data + read cell values from the current worksheet to perform some database operations. What's currently the best way to do this using C#? I'd greatly appreciate a pointer to any examples / tutorials. My understanding is that VS2010 has improved the process alot but I may have to deal w/ Excel 2003 which I don't think it supports. I get confused between Visual Studio 2008s Extensibility-Shared Addin template and other Office Addin templates I've seen. I'm not sure when which type of solution is appropriate. I'm new to Office development so I'd really appreciate any help to get me going on the right track. Thanks much.

    Given this table: Order custName description to_char(price) A desa $14 B desb $14 C desc $21 D desd $65 E dese $21 F desf $78 G desg $14 H desh $21 I am trying to display the whole row where prices have the highest occurances, in this case $14 and $21 I believe there needs to be a subquery. So i started out with this: select max(count(price)) from orders group by price which gives me 3. after some time i didn't think that was helpful. i believe i needed the value 14 and 21 rather the the count so i can put that in the where clause. but I'm stuck how to display that. any help?
