  I started using Ubuntu a very short time ago, and it was working perfectly! I upgraded to 12.04 yesterday, and today I realize that everything is running slow. For example, video streaming online, from sites such as Youtube is not working correctly, audio and video breaks constantly. I have a 64 bit system, with a Intel® Core™2 Duo, 2.10GHz × 2 . I don't know what more to add. I tried free -m on the terminal, it returned that I had only 524MB free from 3858MB. All that i have running at this point is Mozilla Firefox.

  This may be a silly question but I want to know the answer to it. I saw this thing called the "impossible object", while they're many different images of this online, it's suppost to be impossible geometry. Here is an example: Now as far as logic goes, I know you don't have to obey it in games, such as a flying cow, or an impossible object. So that's out of the way, but what stands in my way is whether or not there is a way to draw this onto a 3D scene. Like is there a way to represent it as a 3D object? Thanks!

  I have a rather cool space invaders game that my friend and I have been working on for a while, and we have decided it needs an opening page, with "Start" options, "Quit" options and so forth. I have looked at several methods online, but cant seem to get any of them to work! Does anybody have any ideas? P.S Using JFrame to draw the main frame Im just looking to do this within Java, so just a panel that appears at a state change (GAME, MENU). Id like it to contain a few buttons to start the game, and quit. Later, I will add achievements, but im after something really basic for now. But thanks for the suggestions!

That returns the link to the paste online. For example: echo timtjtim | pastebinit gave me the link paste.ubuntu.com/8010000 Which I can share. How can I do this with a file - for example a log file. Surely I don't have to open - > copy all - > open paste.ubuntu.com -> paste it?

• Is there any simple C++ code to grab video from UVC webcam and display it simultaneously?

  I'm very very new to Linux and programming! I'm using ubuntu 11.10 - 64 bits with gcc 4.6.1 I've been searching online for an example C++ code that simply grabs video from a compliant UVC webcam and displays it simultaneously.. I need to compile it on gcc. In OpenCV, it's a very simple code less than 20 lines as I remember! I found this: http://v4l2spec.bytesex.org/spec/capture-example.html But it's very huge code relative to OpenCV code ?! and even when I tried to compile it using gcc.. I got many errors! I copied the code into a cpp file: cap.cpp then wrote in the terminal: gcc cap.cpp -o cap and the errors showed up... same errors with g++ I hope if someone can help me and tell me where can I find another simpler code? and how can I test it ?   Hi i come across this challenge on an online programing challange the task is so simple for ex WE have to variable N and K where N is where N is lenght of array and we have to find sum of duiffrence of K smallest element of array as Sample Input 10 4 1 2 3 4 10 20 30 40 100 200 Sample Output 10 Explanation #0 We have 10 as N size of array and K is 4 here the next N values are array's elments in order to find sum of diffrences we will takek smallest values from array which are 1,2,3,4 then will perform operation(sum of difference) as |1-2| + |1-3| + |1-4| + |2-3| + |2-4| + |3-4| = 10 I tried solving the problem and found a way through which i can solve the problem wit N^3 complexity but my solution is rejected i need a approach to solve the problem with n complexity i still can't figure out a way .. looked at some solution but coud'nt find the exact way to approach. if anybody have a better idea and would like to share it would be appreciable thanks in advance

• Upgraded Ubuntu from 12.04 to 12.10 Ati radeon HD 3450 Catastrophe!

  When I had upgraded everything was ready on the screen om my computer and with my 12.04 ubuntu. When I restarted my system, the graphics card was not detected. I was forced to start the computer in low graphics mode, and eventually I had a pink deskop with only my maps, and no other programs at all. What do I do now? I need to recover the pictures on my system so that I can upload them online. I'd done a graphics card test on the terminal initially, and it showed that the card was compatible with unity 3D. I have an ATI radeon HD 3450 and I was running a 32 bit build of Ubuntu 12.04 initially Right now I have a broken install of Linux, with no working graphics card or desktop to start from, so I'm unsure of how to fix this.

Now I want to improve the chance it will appear in google search results; however, my web CV is a one-paged site and it contains only internal links (those with hash #) so I can't really submit a sitemap. I could have changed the internal links to normal links to be processed on server-side, but there's no point of doing so. I'm very new to web SEO so I would really appreciate if somebody can show me what should I do with a single-paged site with internal links to be effectively indexed by crawlers.

• What to do about USB support?

  USB speeds are consistently slow in ubuntu, and have been for years. I just bought two new machines with usb 3.0, running 10.04, and yet nothing has changed, top speeds are only about 8.0 MB per second and they quickly drop to 2 or less. Its very frustrating. Are there any fixes for this at all? I find almost nothing online. The board is a gigabyte 970A-DS3 motherboard. Is there any driver I should install? I am using brand new usb sticks (kingston) and making sure to plug into the 3.0 (blue) slot.

  I would like to learn C# programming. I already studied it for several weeks and wrote some minor programs with VS2010, and I'm not completely newbie at programming because I worked on STALKER - Shadow of Chernobyl as scripter, but it was LUA. I want to become a real programmer. I think C# is a decent way to start with. I already learned about the most commonly used resource sites and got some nice eBooks as well, but unfortunately I don't have time to sit down in front my computer all the time, so my progress is pretty slow. I would like to ask that if someone can recommend me some decent interactive online courses to make my learning progress faster. I know about the "joe grip" course but I don't know if it's worth $39 also it's only for .NET 1.x and 2.0 while I'd like to learn 4.0 so I have no idea what should I do.

  I'm interested in reasons for disallowing content editors on medium to large sites, from using various forms of WYSIWYG editors. A common problematic scenario I can think of is that with the use of a WYSIWYG, an editor uploads an image "somewhere" to the file-system, inserts it directly into the text, and publishes the article. Shortly afterwards, someone wants to pull out "The last 10 uploaded images", and display them on the frontpage. Good luck parsing all the content. Taking a look around at some large international online magazines, such as http://www.time.com/, and some local ones, I see that the editors seem to produce articles that are almost only consisting of raw text. Images are usually at the top of the article, and otherwise the most complex content are usually links. What are some common reasons for refusing editors access to WYSIWYG tools?
