  • Prefork or Worker MPM for amazon xlarge server?

    I'm trying to measure would it be better to have prefork or worker mpm apache module for the server I'm working on, which is Amazon X-Large 15 GB memory 8 EC2 Compute Units (4 virtual cores with 2 EC2 Compute Units each) and that will run a Magento website with about 50 active users at once. Site serves a lot of images and about 45 requests per page. Images sometimes hang, so it seems worker would be a better option? Thanks

    Is there a way to show the complete ssh and su chain in bash? For example.   • Different Results of Scanning Wireless Networks

    Hi, I found that under Ubuntu, WICD and command "/sbin/iwlist wlan0 scan" give a little different list of wireless networks. Windows 7 also gives a slightly different list. For example, there is one shown in WICD but not in the command nor in Windows 7. I wonder why? How to get a complete list of wireless networks? Thanks and regards!

    I have used Visio to map out my network structure, and have used the export function to create an HTML page that is searchable by IP, hostname etc. This is a really nice tool and I use it often. However, I would like for users who do not use Internet Explorer to be able to use the search features. What are some alternatives to Visio here? I want to draw a network diagram where objects are searchable. Thanks!

  • Is there a way to setup a hotspot with a domain name rather than IP address?

    Basically I've setup a hotspot and its currently being accessed through an IP address. I'd like to use a hostname instead. This is for internal use only, meaning the ODROID device which is being used to as Access Point is connected to the internet via ethernet and only a few devices will access the AP. My setup details: Arch Linux on an ODROID U3 device, using hostapd and dhcp server. PS: I'm quite inexperienced with network so I might be missing something obvious here. Thanks in advance

  • Reset network (airport) connections from the command line

    I have this MacBook Pro that has intermittent problems connecting to my Wifi network. Sometimes it helps to disable/re-enable airport and sometimes I have to restart the computer to get my network running again. Has anyone experienced this? And is there a command I can run that would do the same as I do when I restart the computer (short of actually restarting it, obviously) or at least a command that restarts the airport service?     Is there a possibility to redirect all traffic to specified hosts behind NAT? For example i have a server, a domain "mydomain.com" and 3 hosts behind NAT. I wish to configure 3 subdomains: host1.mydomain.com host2.mydomain.com host2.mydomain.com and each of them to redirect all ports to specified host in local net. That redirection should provide funcionality like this: http://host1.mydomain.com (can be achieved using apache) ssh [email protected] (???) and other protocols on diferent ports Thanks for any help.

    I'm writing an installer and need to change all users' wallpaper. I can do this from the group policy editor GUI, but need to do so from my installer. I can't just edit the registry as it gets reset by a GPO on login. How do I apply the relevant administrative template via programatically (preferably cmd.exe or via the registry)? (for interest, it's User Configuration Administrative Templates Desktop Desktop Desktop Wallpaper [sic] Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    I went to open Outlook 2007 on my Windows 7 32bit machine and it came up with this error: Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened. I have deleted and created a new profile in Control Panel Mail but it still doesn't want to work properly but it still comes up with this message. Thanks in advance.

    Hi, I'm experimenting with Group Policy settings. My DC is running Server 2003, and the client I am using for this test is running Win7. I've restarted the client a few times, and tried running gpupdate/force for good measure. This machine is in it's own OU with a group policy applied to change one setting, Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Network/Offline Files. When I run MMC and look at Local Computer Policy on the client this setting shows up as "not configured". Thanks, John

    I'm trying to install a proxy on my gateway that everything that comes from a subdomain for example sub.mydomain.com goes to an inside server at a :3000 port. I'm installing a redmine server inside my network that has to be reached from outside. Any idea of how to do that? I think in httpd as proxypass, but I don't know how to get just the subdomain name to proxy it. My gateway is currently Clearos machine. Thanks

    I have been seeing these following error codes on our LDAP server: zgrep -o err=[0-9]* ldap.log.1.gz | sort | uniq -c 106664 err=0 146 err=16 288 err=4 29 err=49 8106 err=6 Can someone explain what err=6 is exactly and if its a big problem? I have been seeing lately some failures to authenticate and wonder if it is related to these errors? I have seen a possible timeout problem in the 2.2 Code base and not sure if theres a patch or if I would have to upgrade to the latest openldap version? thanks kosta

    I recently change my compiz settings for my cube and upon restarting my pc it first black screened, where it got stuck, on this screen the last command stated that it was checking the battery status, it was like this for hours i finally got thru to the Login screen but it will not accept the password (with i know is correct).
