  • Could someone explain hash tag usage for deeplinking ajax applications?

    Hi There, I am currently trying to full appreciate how and when to use hash tags in urls when building an ajax powered website. There seems to be a distinct lack of reading material on the web regarding this technique and as such I don't feel like I've got a good handle on it. Could someone explain in the simplest terms how the hash tag can be used in urls to enable things like loading pages via ajax. Thanks

  • Google map blank when used with master page

    I wrote a google map lookup page. Everthing worked fine until I referenced the page to use a master page. I removed the form tag from the master page as the search button on the map page is a submit button. Everything else on my page appears but the google map div appears with map navigation controls and logo but no map visuals appear. I retested with the previous, non master page version and the map appears correctly. Any thoughts on what I'm missing?

    when i put ajax on my code I send a group of variable via post but when i received the data it is in a obj.responseText ie TEXT format. say i have two files "form.php" and "index.php" ajax is implemented in form.php while index.php returns the text. but my problem is index.php also generates a variable named "tarriff_count" i want to catch systematically and separately this variable, Is there any systematic way to catch variable.also keep in mind "obj.responseText" is very complicated to get a variable from "preg_match" ?

    What happens behind the scenes if I make an AJAX PageMethod or WebMethod call from, say, "Default.aspx" and then I quickly navigate away to a different page, say, "Settings.aspx" before the initial PageMethod has returned? What kind of housekeeping, if any, takes place on either the browser or the ASP.NET back end? In other words, where do abandoned AJAX PageMethod calls go to die...and what is their funeral like?

  • Use google analytics custom events for feedback form.

    I was thinking of having a simple feedback form in my website. It would be something like: Your Feedback will help us improve. [ ] and then a textfield/textarea where the user can type (let's say) up to 100 characters of feedback. Rather than handling it all myself on the serverside I was thinking to use google analytics (since my site is already wireup) and everytime a user writes a comment send a custom event to google analytics. I think it might work. Can people suggest a better approach or point out any problem with this idea thanks

    Maybe this has an obvious solution that I'm overlooking, but I can't seem to find the correct parameter to put in to make this happen. Using the Google Translate widget on a site, I need to set the default language that the user sees when entering the site, even though the site is english. function googleTranslateElementInit() { new google.translate.TranslateElement({ pageLanguage: 'en' }, 'google_translate_element'); } I've tried adding: defaultLanguage: 'fr' and tried: targetLanguage: 'fr' I did find some nice jQuery solutions, but didn't want to bypass this if it was an easy fix.     Hi, I'm studding a way of using Google Analytics to track Ad impressions/clicks. Looks like event tracking is the way to go. Tracking clicks it's easy to implement. My doubt resides on impressions: using event tracking on page load will cut down my bounce rate to 0 using a second profile doesn't look elegant (leave it for last resource) GOAL: John loads page A and leave. Count 1 for impressions and 1 for bounce rate as it should. Is there a way of doing it with Google Analytics?

  • Google maps z-index problem in IE

    I'm loading my google maps into div class="extra" style="display: none;" /. As soon as the AJAX request is complete, the map_canvas div is placed inside the hidden div and the hidden div will be vissible with the toggleDown jquery effect. In FF it's working perfect, but in IE the Google maps (map_canvas div) is already visible before the toggleDown effect is started. I think the z-index and the relative position of the map_canvas div wich is loaded into the hidden div will place the map_canvas div on top of the hidden div. What do i have to change to make sure the map_canvas div is not on top of the hidden div? Since he is not authenticated, method return RedirectToRoute result (redirects to login page). What do you do with it? How do you handle it on client side and how do you handle it in controller?

    I am having a real problem with this. I want to know if it is possible to run/call a javascript function in a Google Chrome web browser window from a VB.net application. The scenario is that i want to monitor the pc activity (which i know how to) and then if a certain event is met (for example, high ram usage) then it calls a JavaScript function in a Google Chrome web browser window so the website is updated. Sort of like a bridge. The only bit it need to know is the vb.net code for how to access a chrome window and invoke a javascript function if its possible. I assume i will need to use process handlers? Any help is appreciated.

This hasn't been an issue so far because I was always just passing IDs to my wcf service. But I'm trying to do something more complex now but I can't figure it out. The main thing I'm wondering about is post data, but the details of exactly what is sent would be useful. I'm considering implementing it on a sites that have a lot of private data on them.
