• Custom Fill Property on PathGeometry in Silverlight

  I've been looking at (and getting confused by) Dependency Properties - I'm not sure if this is what I need or if there is something else. I'm looking to something very specific with <Path.Data/> children in Silverlight, in particular <PathGeometry/>, <EllipseGeometry/>, etc. While the <Path/> element has a .Fill property, I'd like to add a .Fill property to any of it's Geometries, meaning it's a different color from it's parent. It could be a <SolidColorBrush/> or <LinearGradientBrush/> color, or a percentage of the parent color (like 20% darker than <Path.Fill/>. Is this possible? Is this a dependency property? How would <RectangleGeometry/>, for example, know that I am trying to fill it with a color? How would I get started? (adding WPF as a tag too as someone who knows WPF may be able to help)

• flex 4: swfloader - how to mute game completly

  Hiya. Ive read some answers here regarding muting swfloader volume but none of the examples would work in flex 4. • LiveJournal xmlrpc date out of order option

  I am having an issue adding posts to LiveJournal via the xmlrpc api they provide. I want to add entries older than what I have listed on LiveJournal already. But I get a response saying: "You have an entry which was posted at 2009-09-06 18:32, but you're trying to post an entry before this. Please check the date and time of both entries. If the other entry is set in the future on purpose, edit that entry to use the "Date Out of Order" option. Otherwise, use the "Date Out of Order" option for this entry instead." I haven't found an argument for the "Date Out of Order" option using the LJ.XMLRPC.postevent method. Any help would be highly appreciated.

• WCF Security Transport Security Questions

  I'm writing a set of WCF services that rely on transport security with Windows Authentication using the trusted subsystem model. However, I want to perform authorization based on the original client user that initiated the request (e.g. a user from a website with a username/password). I'm planning to achieve this by adding the original user's credentials in the header before the client sends the message and then the service will use the supplied credentials to authorize the user. So I have a few questions about this implementation: 1) using transport security with windows auth, I do NOT need to worry about again encrypting the passed credentials to ensure the validity... WCF automatically takes care of this - is this correct? 2) how does this implementation prevent a malicious service, running under some windows account within the domain, to send a message tagged with spoofed credentials. for e.g. a malicious service replaces the credentials with an Admin user to do something bad? • How to use JQuery UI datepicker with bgIframe on IE 6

  I am trying to use the JQuery UI datepicker (latest stable version 1.5.2) on an IE6 website. But I am having the usual problems with combo boxes (selects) on IE6 where they float above other controls. I have tried adding the bgIframe plugin after declaring the datepicker with no luck. My guess is that the .ui-datepicker-div to which I am attaching the bgIframe doesn't exist until the calendar is shown. I am wondering if I can put the .bgIframe() command directly into the datepicker .js file and if so, where? (the similar control by kelvin Luck uses this approach) Current code $(".DateItem").datepicker({ showOn:"button", ... etc ... }); $(".ui-datepicker-div").bgIframe();

  Anyone know why only undirectional serialization is supported in the Linq designer? Consider the following example: Say we have a Customer who requested an Order containing Products. We set the Serialization Mode in the Linq designer to Unidirectional to enable serialization. When looking at the code for the Order object, the DataMember attribute is added to all its internal properties such as ID,OrderNumber, etc. and also to the EntitySet of Products, but not to Customer. One can get around this by manually adding the DataMember attribute to Customer, but this becomes quite cumbersome when there's loads of entities in the database.

• jQuery slideToggle flicker in Firefox

  I have a specific situation with slideToggle that creates a flicker in Firefox. The situation was when the expanding element goes longer than the page and a vertical scrollbar appears in Firefox. If you scroll down to read all of the text in the expanding element and then click on the trigger to close the element, Firefox would flash for a second and then the page readjusts and returns to its position before the expanded element was expanded. I have tried adding ‘return false;’ to no avail.   Ok so last year I participated in a high school curriculum contest thing at a college(I currently attend this college). I actually got 1st in it but was still a bit angry I didn't get every single one right. The most baffling of questions on there was How many lines of code does the average programmer write per day? A. 5 B. 10 C. 25 D. 30 Aside from being a subjective question which depended on language and everything else I was more baffled at what they had as the correct answer. 10. Even on my bad days at my job I touch more than 10 lines of code(either adding, modifying, or deleting) per day. And when I took this test I had only programmed as a hobby where it was common for me to write a few hundred lines for one of my new projects per day. Where are they getting this random number of ten!? Is this published somewhere? A quick googling found me nothing.

  Hi all, I'm using jqTransform to make my forms look a bit prettier, however I'm using jquery to change the select list (depending on what's selected from another select list) and it just pulls in the regular form select list rather than the jqTransform styles.. I was wondering if there's a way of reinitializing it? I've tried adding: jQuery('#bookingForm').jqTransform({ imgPath: '/templates/home/images/jqtransform/' }); after the jquery inserts the new select box, but it doesnt seem to work.. I'm trying to do this because I couldnt figure out how to show/hide options in a select list using jquery.

However, the code does not work to retrieve past events on the calendar, it simply returns nil to self.events. But I DID add events on the calendar. Can anything tell me if there's anything wrong with the code?

• PropertyGrid PaintValue problem: How to remove (and paint outside) the standard rectangle?

  This might be a straightforward question, even though I haven't found an easy solution to it: I've implemented my custom UITypeEditor with the sole purpose of adding a PaintValue to bools. For the sake of the discussion, let's assume that PaintValue will either paint a checked or unchecked radiobutton. Question 1: Now, here's the problem: It seems like PaintValue automatically inserts a 20x13px rectangle after all paint code has completed. Naturally, a radiobutton inside a black rectangle is ugly. Can I easily instruct or override this rectagle not to be painted? Question 2: In this respect, is it possible to paint on top of the propertygrid's native look - meaning could I paint something in order to obscure (part of) the black line separating two grid cells vertically? The purpose of doing this would be to indicate that two values were linked, like constrained width/height to an aspect ratio.

  Hi I have a website which sells a product to the user (downloadable). I am creating an iPhone app and want to be able to sell some of the products using the 3.0's in-app purchase. Now the documentation mentions that anything you want to sell has to be uploaded to itunes connect and approved by Apple. But I want to be able to keep adding products to be sold by my app on a daily basis. I have a web service to get the list of products from the website. Is it possible to include in-app purchase to let user buy this stuff from within the app but without having to add them to itunes connect? Thanks

  I am trying to set up Single sign on for 2 websites that reside on the same domain e.g. http://mydomain (top level site that contains a forms-auth login page) http://mydomain/admin (seperately developed website residing in a Virtual Application within the parent website) Have read a few articles on Single Sign on e.g. http://www.codeproject.com/KB/aspnet/SingleSignon.aspx And they seem to suggest it is just a case of having the same machinekey section in each web.config so that the cookie encryprion and decryption is the same for each application I have set this up and I never get prompted for credentials in the sub-website (the virtual application) I always get prompted in the parent site. In addition to having the same machinekey I've also tried adding the same <authentication> and <authorisation> elements Any idea what I could be missing?

But I'm having trouble adding the extra elements like g:image_link. I try the extra elements like; syndicationItem.ElementExtensions.Add(new XElement("image_link", product.ImageLink).CreateReader()); This works, but how can I add the namespace xmlns:g="http://base.google.com/ns/1.0" to the first RSS tag and use this for the extension elements?   I am trying to generate a sql statement to be used in Oracle11g, using linq. The problem arises when using dates: The SQL generated by linq gives SELECT * FROM <table> WHERE start_date > '24/11/2012 00:00:00' and end_date < '28/11/2012 00:00:00' This causes an oracle error: ORA-01830 - date format picture ends before converting entire input string Adding TO_DATE to the query fixes the ORA-01830, as it is converting the string to a oracle date whilst now knowing the date format. SELECT * FROM <table> WHERE start_date > TO_DATE('24/11/2012 00:00:00','DD/MM/YYYY HH24:MI:SS') and end_date < TO_DATE('28/11/2012 00:00:00','DD/MM/YYYY HH24:MI:SS') So, is there a way to add TO_DATE to LINQ (for oracle)? If not, please tell me how to work around this issue. Thanks

• Failure connecting to Dell MD3200i from XenServer 6.2 pool

  This question also asked at Citrix Forums http://forums.citrix.com/thread.jspa?threadID=332289 I have a MD3200i that is currently working fine with my Xen5.6 pool, but I cannot get a connection to the new 6.2 pool to work. I previously had a problem with a 6.0 upgrade (which is why the old pool is still on 5.6), but rolled back rather than fix it as it wasn't urgent at the time. This install is on new machines - I tried 6.1 first (which had the same problems) then 6.2 was released the second day after installation so I switched to that. I've not installed anything from the Dell resource DVD at this point - I can't find anything saying I should, and everything I have read suggests it shouldn't be necessary. I can ping all 8 ip addresses from both servers in the pool, iscsiadm -m discovery works fine, I can login to the nodes and iscsiadm reports the sessions active correctly. I've added the required sections to multipath.conf, but multipath -ll reports DM multipath kernel driver not loaded immediately after boot.   I've got a flex/air app I've been working on, it uses a local sqlite database that is created on the initial application start. I've added some features to the application and in the process I had to add a new field to one of the database tables. My questions is how to I go about getting the application to create one new field that is located in a table that already exists? this is a the line that creates the table stmt.text = "CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS tbl_status ("+"status_id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT,"+" status_status TEXT)"; And now I'd like to add a status_default field. thanks! • Creating a Wiki site in SharePoint 2010

  I have a SharePoint 2010 site set up and would like to add a Wiki site to it. Normally, to add a subsite to a parent site you would click "Site Actions" - "New Site" and choose the site type (e.g. Team Site) and it would work fine. In the case of adding a Wiki site, I choose "Enterprise Wiki", and get "Error An Unexpected Error has occured Correlation Id:...". So i took the CorrelationId and checked in the ULS files to see what the error is, and the first bad sign seems to be: SharePoint Foundation Feature Infrastructure " The element of type 'ContentTypeBinding' for feature 'EnterpriseWiki' (id: 76d688ad-c16e-4cec-9b71-7b7f0d79b9cd) threw an exception during activation: Specified argument was out of the range of valid values. Parameter name: Content type not found (Id: '0x010100C568DB52D9D0A14D9B2FDCC96666E9F2007948130EC3DB064584E219954237AF39004C1F8B46085B4D22B1CDC3DE08CFFB9C')." There are more errors in the log, but this seems to be the first one. Any ideas on whats going on? Thanks

• jQuery Plugin for TinyMCE callback

  I am using the jQuery plugin from the jQuery build of TinyMCE. This simplified code initializes the editor: $('textarea.tinymce').tinymce({ script_url : '../js/libraries/tiny_mce/tiny_mce.js' }); This loads tiny_mce.js via AJAX. I have code that I want to run once this file is loaded. I essentially want to specify a callback function, but there is no mention of this in the documentation for the plugin. Any ideas? I would be up for adding the functionality if it is not there but I cannot find an uncompressed version of the plugin.

• Documenting applications - automation / semi-automation for screenshots?

  For me one of the biggest bores of being a developer is writing user documentation. (I am referring to the stuff that gets exported into PDF files files that ship with the product, not comments in code here). The task off adding or updating new bits of text to the existing documentation is OK. However having to take screenshots of select screens can be quite a tedious process. Is there a way to automate or even semi-automate the process of taking screenshots? The main requirement is the ability to crop images such that they contain only the window, including window manager areas (such as the title bar). The secondary requirement is that any format is OK, so long as it can be exported to PDF. EDIT: Any more biters?
