  • Ajax routes in Rails 3

    In my Rails 2.3 application, the following routes were working properly map.ajax 'ajax', :controller => 'widgetresponse_controller' , :action => 'getWidgetJson' When I migrated to Rails 3, I tried a number of new routes, to get this working but none of them worked. 1. match 'ajax' => 'widgetresponse#getWidgetJson', :as => :ajax 2. match 'ajax' => 'widgetresponse_controller#getWidgetJson', :as => :ajax 3. get 'widgetresponse/getWidgetJson', :as => :ajax 4. get 'widgetresponse/getWidgetJson' Its a very basic question to ask, but I don't know what I am doing wrong.

  • Need some help synch'ing outer loop counter with dialog.onconfirm()

    I am writing a game for Facebook. IN the following code, I have a problem. I have a for loop executing, and in that loop, I call a dialog and implement 'onconfirm' for the dialog. The problem is that I need to access th e loop counter inside of the onconfirm function. But because the onconfirm is called outside of the scope of the for loop, the counter value is no longer valid because it's been incremented. I need some way to pass the counter value to the dialog onconfirm as it was at the time the dialog was displayed, not after the loop has finished. Or maybe someone has a better solution. Any help would be appreciated.   • How to handle Foreign key for optional field in .NET

    What is the best way to handle following situation? A dropdown(for master table) is optional in a particular form. But, In database table the field is constrained with foreign key. If user don't select from dropdown then It creates problem because of foreign key. One solution is to create default option in master table and use it in case of blank selection. but in dropdown, we need to handle this to show on top. Is it perfect solution? Is there any other optimized solution for this? Thanks

  • Cannot pass null to server using jQuery AJAX. Value received at the server is the string "null".

    I am converting a javascript/php/ajax application to use jQuery to ensure compatibility with browsers other than Firefox. I am having trouble passing true, false, and null values using jQuery's ajax function. Javascript code: $.ajax ( { url : <server_url>, dataType: 'json', type : 'POST', success : receiveAjaxMessage, data: { valueTrue : true, valueFalse : false, valueNull : null } } ); PHP code: var_dump($_POST); Server output: array(3) { ["valueTrue"]=> string(4) "true" ["valueFalse"]=> string(5) "false" ["valueNull"]=> string(4) "null" } The problem is that the null, true, and false values are being converted to strings. The Javascript AJAX code currently in use passes null, true, and false correctly but only works in Firefox. Does anyone know how to solve this problem using jQuery? Here is some working code (not using jQuery) to compare with the code not-working code given above. Javascript Code: ajaxPort.send ( <server_url>, { valueTrue : true, valueFalse : false, valueNull : null } ); PHP code: var_dump(json_decode(file_get_contents('php://input'), true)); Server output: array(3) { ["valueTrue"]=> bool(true) ["valueFalse"]=> bool(false) ["valueNull"]=> NULL } Note that the null, true, and false values are correctly received. Note also that in the second method the $_POST array is not used in the PHP code. I think this is the key to the problem, but I cannot find a way to replicate this behavior using jQuery.

    I use a GridView to display the records from the database. Also i've attached a Hyperlink to the GridView using TemplateField. When I try to add "onclick" attribute to the HyperLink inside the RowDateBound event, I get the following error..     I'm trying to modify the data returned from an AJAX call before jqGrid 3.7.2 renders it. I've tried hooking into the loadComplete event but when I modify the data it appears to be after it has already rendered. I've also tried hooking into the success event on the ajaxGridOptions field of options but that seems to totally override the event and jqGrid doesn't render the data. How can I modify the data returned from a web service call before jqGrid renders it?

    Hi I am coding a web-crawler which will crawl the websites and selectively parse different sections of a web site. I am a .Net developer so the choice was obvious that I did it in .Net but the speed was very slow which included downloading and parsing of HTMLPages Then I tried to just download the contents first using .Net and then same domains using python but the python was very impressive in downloading data. I have achieved downloading using python but the later part is not that easy to code in python, which obviously i don't want to do. The same batch of domain which took 100 seconds in Python was taking 20 minutes in .Net based crawler I tried http://www.eqlit.com/ to download and in took 8 seconds in Python and same was taking 100 Seconds in .Net crawler Does anyone anyone have any idea why this is slow in .Net but fast in python?

    I need for html file/ ajax code to take the JSON message and store the PATHS as a javaScript array. Then my buildImage function can display the first image in the array. I'm new to AJAX and believe my misunderstanding lies within the converting of the JSON to Javascript. I'm confused also about if my code creates a JSON array or object or either.   • ASP.NET 2.0 control is not shown up un VS 2010 toolbox

    Hi, I have developed some ASP.NET controls in .NET 2.0 with VS 2008. Now, I upgraded my project to VS 2010 but did not change the target framework to .NET 4.0 yet. But, surprisingly, I found that, the toolbox is not showing the bitmaps for the control added to the toolbox in VS 2010. Moreover, when I dragged and dropped a control (.NET 2.0) from the toolbox to my Web Form, I see some junk xml code added to my web form. I dont know if I need to recompile the .NET 2.0 controls with VS 2010 ? or what should I do in order to make the controls compatible for both in VS 2008 and VS 2010 ? I found that, there is no problem with Windows Forms control, rather it is just with ASP.NET Controls.

    I am new to .Net platform. I did a search and found that there are several ways to do parallel computing in .Net: Parallel task in Task Parallel Library, which is .Net 3.5. PLINQ, .Net 4.0 Asynchounous Programming, .Net 2.0, (async is mainly used to do I/O heavy tasks, F# has a concise syntax supporting this). I list this because in Mono, there seem to be no TPL or PLINQ. Thus if I need to write cross platform parallel programs, I can use async. .Net threads. No version limitation. Could you give some short comments on these or add more methods in this list? Thanks.
