    I just saw the following code among the successful submissions at codechef. http://www.codechef.com/viewplaintext/1595846 I used to think that float max(int n,int arr[n][n]) {....} is not allowed in C++ (as 'n' is a variable). My CodeBlocks (on windows) with MinGW [gcc 4.4] gives compile time error. that "error: array bound is not an integer constant. Then how can be such a solution be accepted by CodeChef's judge.     Hi I am trying to dump the floating point values from my program to a bin file. Since I can't use any stdlib function, I am thinking of writting it char by char to a big char array which I am dumping in my test application to a file. It's like float a=3132.000001; I will be dumping this to a char array in 4 bytes. Code example would be:- if((a < 1.0) && (a > 1.0) || (a > -1.0 && a < 0.0)) a = a*1000000 // 6 bit fraction part.   • With XSLT, how can I use this if-test with an array, when search element is returned by a template call inside the for loop?

    I think this simple example might ask the question a lot more clearly. I have an input file with multiple products. There are 10 types of product (2 product IDs is fine enough for this example), but the input will have 200 products, and I only want to output the info for the first product of each type. (Output info for the lowest priced one, so the first one will be the lowest price because I sort by Price first.) So I want to read in each product, but only output the product's info if I haven't already output a product with that same ID. I couldn't figure out how to get the processID template to return a value that I need to do my if-check on, that uses parameters from inside the for-each Product loop -then properly close the if tag in the right place so it won't output the open Product tag unless it passes the if test.   • Creating a contact form using divs with 4 extra divs for "Corners"?

    Hi there, i have tried to create a contact form (a standard form, square in nature but with rounded corners)... I can't use the CSS3 specs so i have an image for each corner.. I have set the images on the background-image and no repeat but it seems if the div is empty then it doesn't display, is there a hack - although prefer an alternative clean method :-) So on the top level i presume i have 1 div for the Upper-Left (corner) and then the upper-middle (just has a color assigned) and then a div for the upper-right (corner) .. so i presume i need to float all these to the left??? Or am i missing something? Thanks in advance

My problem is basically what I've said in the title. What happens is that the GUI freezes while the upload is in progress.   • Can anyone tell me why my XML writer is not writing attributes?

    I am writing a parsing tool to help me clean up a large VC++ project before I make .net bindings for it. I am using an XML writer to read an xml file and write out each element to a new file. If an element with a certain name is found, then it executes some code and writes an output value into the elements value. So far it is almost working, except for one thing: It is not copying the attributes. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?   • Help with understanding why UAC dialog pops up on Win7 for our application

    We have a C++ unmanaged application that appears to cause a UAC prompt. It seems to happen on Win7 and NOT on Vista Unfortunately the UAC dlg is system modal so I can't attach a debugger to check in the code where it is, and running under msdev (we're using 2008) runs in elevated mode. We put a message box at the start of our program/winmain but it doesn't even get that far, so apparently this is in the startup code. What can cause a UAC notification so early and what other things can I do to track down the cause? EDIT Apparently the manifest is an important issue here, but it seems not to be helping me - or perhaps I am not configuring the manifest file correctly. Can someone provide a sample manifest? Also, does the linker/UAC magic figure out that the program "might" write to the registry and set its UAC requirements based on that? There are code paths that might trigger UAC, but we are not even at that point when the UAC dlg comes up. An additional oddity is that this does not seem to happen on Vista with UAC turned on.   • Warning vs. error

    I had an annoying issue, getting a "Possible loss of precision" error when compiling my Java program on BlueJ (But from what i read this isn't connected to a specific IDE). I was surprised by the fact that the compiler told me there is a possible loss of precision and wouldnt let me compile/run the program. Why is this an error and not a warning saying you might loose precision here, if you don't want that change your code? The program runs just fine when i drop the float values, it wouldn't matter since there is no point (e.g [143.08, 475.015]) on my screen. On the other hand when i loop through an ArrayList and in this loop i have an if clause removing elements from the ArrayList it runs fine, just throws an error and doesn't display the ArrayList [used for drawing circles] for a fraction of a second. This appears to me as a severe error but doesn't cause (hardly) any troubles, while i wouldn't want to have such a thing in my code at all. What's the boundary?

  • Texture repeats even with GL_CLAMP_TO_EDGE set [FIXED]

    Hi, i'm trying to put a translucing texture on a face which uses points 1 to 4 (don't mind the numbers) on the following screenshot Sadly as you can see the texture repeats herself in both dimensions, I tried to switch the TEXTURE_WRAP_S from REPEAT to CLAMP_to_EDGE but it doesn't change anything.   • Weird IF THAN not working with Requested data from URL text problem

    Hey all, i am checking for an internet connection by checking for a file on my server. The file only has the word LIVE displayed on the page. No HTML or anything else is there, just the word LIVE. When i run this code, i do get the NSLog as saying "LIVE" but once i go to check it with the IF statement, it fails and i just do not know why???   • "Cannot use fixed local inside lambda expression"

    I have an XNA 3.0 project that compiled just fine in VS2008, but that gives compile errors in VS2010 (with XNA 4.0 CTP). The error: Cannot use fixed local 'depthPtr' inside an anonymous method, lambda expression, or query expression depthPtr is a fixed float* into an array, that is used inside a Parallel.For lambda expression from System.Threading. As I said, this compiled and ran just fine on VS2008, but it does not on VS2010, even when targeting .NET 3.5. Has this changed in .NET 4.0, and even so, shouldn't it still compile when I choose .NET 3.5 as the target framework? Searching for the term "Cannot use fixed local" yields exactly one (useless) result, both in Google and Bing. If this has changed, what is the reason for this? I can imagine capturing a fixed pointer-type in a closure could get a bit weird, is that why? So I'm guessing this is bad practice? And before anyone asks: no, the use of pointers is not absolutely critical here. I would still like to know though :)

    I'm not interested in a hardware solution, I want to know about software that may "read" modulated signal received trough the power supply - some sort of a low-level driver that would access the power signal in a convenient place and demodulate it. Is there a way to receive signal from the computer's power supply? I'm interested in an API or library that would allow the computer to be seen as a node in a Power Line Communication network and receive data directly through the power cable, without the need for a converter. Is there any active research in this field? Edit: There is software that reads monitors and displays internal component voltages - DC voltage after being converted and filtered by the power supply - now I need is a method of data encoding that would be invariant to conversion and filtering, the original signal embedded in AC being present in some form within the converted DC signal.

    In the similar question "Conversion of byte[] into a String and then back to a byte[]" is said to not to do the byte[] to String and back conversion, what looks like apply to most cases, mainly when you don't know the encoding used. But, in my case I'm trying to save to a DB the javax.crypto.SecretKey data, and recoverd it after. The interface provide a method getEncoded() which returns the key data encoded as byte[], and with another class I can use this byte[] to recover the key. So, the question is, how do I write the key bytes as String, and later get back the byte[] to regenerate the key?

  • How can this code be made more Pythonic?

    This next part of code does exactly what I want it to do. dem_rows and dem_cols contain float values for a number of things i can identify in an image, but i need to get the nearest pixel for each of them, and than to make sure I only get the unique points, and no duplicates. The problem is that this code is ugly and as far as I get it, as unpythonic as it gets.   • Rapid spectral analysis of audio file using Python 2.6?

    What I want to do is to have a subroutine that analyses every 200 milliseconds of a sound file which it is given and spits out the frequency intensity value (from 0 to 1 as a float) of a specific frequency range into an array which I later save. This value then goes on to be used as the opacity value for a graphic which is supposed to 'strobe' to the audio file. The problem is, I have never ventured into audio analysis before and have no clue where to start. I have looked pymedia and scipy/numpy thinking I would be able to use FFT in order to achieve this, but I am not really sure how I would manipulate this data to end up with the desired result. The documentation on the SpectrAnalyzer class of pymedia is virtually non-existant and the examples on the website do not actually work with the latest release of the library - which isn't exactly making my life easier. How would I go about starting this project? I am at a complete loss as to what libraries I should even be using.

    I'm working with a large set of json and really just need the NSString representation of what's inside the NSArray -including all the { } My question is this - is their a better way than simply looping through each NSArray inside the main NSArray and outputting the description one by one? ie- the below is a start to this process but it's very brittle meaning I need to know each item inside the hat {} and this isn't something I actually care about.     I'm looking for an algorithm to flip a 1 Bit Bitmap line horizontally. Remember these lines are DWORD aligned! I'm currently unencoding an RLE stream to an 8 bit-per-pixel buffer, then re-encoding to a 1 bit line, however, I would like to try and keep it all in the 1 bit space in an effort to increase its speed.
