  • How to style a treeview in Expression Blend

    (Using Expression Blend 4 RC, Silverlight 3) I have a treeview with several different item templates for different levels. When I open this project in Blend, it seems I can only really style the top-most DataTemplate (via right-click the TreeView in the Objects/Timeline view, Edit Additional Templates-Edit Generated Items (ItemTemplate) - Edit Current). How do I drill down into the level I want and edit those templates? Rob

    I would like to obtain the list of controls under a given point. There is a method on System.Windows.Form to obtain a control under a point(GetChildAtPoint) but not point(GetChildsAtPoint). Is there something similar for the list of controls (if borders intersect one other): I need this because I select the objects when user clicks on the panel(I use Microsoft.VisualBasic.PowerPacks.RectangleShape as label bellow). In case if labels are superposed, user should be asked what object to select.

    I am currently studying the implementation of programming languages and became interested in using Continuation-Passing Style as the intermediate language of the compiler. I also want to implement limited dynamic scope (for exception-handling or Scheme parameter objects) but I cannot find the relevant literature. I think it can be done with a separate environment passed as a variable to every closure, but this solution seems ugly to me. Could anyone point me to the relevant literature, or give me an idea of how this can be done?

    In Ruby on Rails, say a Story object can "has_many" Vote objects (a story is voted "hot" by many users). So when we do a s = Story.find(:first) s is a Story object, and say s.votes returns [] and s.votes.class returns Array So clearly, s.votes is an empty Array object. At this time, when s.votes.create is called, it actually invokes a method of the Vote class? How come an Array class object can invoke a Vote class method?

  • Java constructor with large arguments or Java bean getter/setter approach

    Hi, I can't decide which approach is better for creating objects with a large number of fields (10+) (all mandatory) the constructor approach of the getter/setter. Constructor at least you enforce that all the fields are set. Java Beans easier to see which variables are being set instead of a huge list. The builder pattern DOES NOT seem suitable here as all the fields are mandatory and the builder requires you put all mandatory parameters in the builder constructor. Thanks, D

    I am trying to write a LINQ query which will return true if there are multiple objects which have a property with the same value. Here is what I have come up with so far: Formatters.Where(Function(f As DataModel.Formatter) _ Formatters.Select(Function(f2 As DataModel.Formatter) f2.Name.ToLower()).Contains(f.Name.ToLower())).Count > 1 However the above always returns true as long as their are more then 1 elements in the list, can someone please give me a hand with this? I have an object with some DateTime properties , and a Table in database that I store all that objects , in Sql server I want to store the DateTime properties in some columns of DateTime Datatype, but the format of datetime in sql server is different from the DateTime class in c# and I got an sql exception saying "DateTime cannot be parsed". I know how to solve this by making the format yyyy-MM-dd but is this the proper and best solution to do this?

    Hi, I have a question about a problem I'm struggling with. Hope you can bear with me. Imagine I have an Object class representing the base class of a hierarchy of physical objects. Later I inherit from it to create an Object1D, Object2D and Object3D classes. Each of these derived classes will have some specific methods and attributes. For example, the 3d object might have functionality to download a 3d model to be used by a renderer. So I'd have something like this: class Object {}; class Object1D : public Object { Point mPos; }; class Object2D : public Object { ... }; class Object3D : public Object { Model mModel; }; Now I'd have a separate class called Renderer, which simply takes an Object as argument and well, renders it :-) In a similar way, I'd like to support different kinds of renderers. For instance, I could have a default one that every object could rely on, and then provide other specific renderers for some kind of objects: class Renderer {}; // Default one class Renderer3D : public Renderer {}; And here comes my problem. A renderer class needs to get an Object as an argument, for example in the constructor in order to retrieve whatever data it needs to render the object. So far so good. But a Renderer3D would need to get an Object3D argument, in order to get not only the basic attributes but also the specific attributes of a 3d object. Constructors would look like this: CRenderer(Object& object); CRenderer3D(Object3D& object); Now how do I specify this in a generic way? Or better yet, is there a better way to design this? I know I could rely on RTTI or similar but I'd like to avoid this if possible as I feel there is probably a better way to deal with this. Thanks in advance!

I am trying to deserialize the following extract: http://download.geofabrik.de/osm/north-america/us-northeast.osm.pbf to get Nodes and I am using http://code.google.com/p/protobuf-net/ as the library. I have tried to deserialize a bunch of different objects but they all come up null.   • Dynamically change my schema

    I am wondering if there is a way to change the schema that I am working in while inside Management Studio. For instance I may have a default schema of dbo. But there are times I may want to query objects in say the accounting schema. It would be nice if I could issue a command and make it so I no longer must include the accounting before tables and views. But the next time I go in, I will be back to default of dbo.
