  • How to implement a Google-chrome-like title bar for Java SWT application

    - by MartyC
    I have inherited development of a Java/SWT application running on Windows only. One of the feature requests that I need to scope is a Google-chrome-type title bar in place of the SWT windows title bar. The application's tabs appear at the same level as the window control buttons. My understanding is that I will need to: write a Windows widget capable of rendering the custom look and managing tabs as opposed to menus. expose the Windows widget as a dll for use in Java via JNI write a custom SWT widget to wrap it and expose the tab management interface. I have a lot of experience with Java programming, GUI programming with Swing/AWT, and non-GUI C# programming. Windows GUI programming and SWT are new to me so I'm not sure where to start. The best I have found so far is a 2001 article on writing your own SWT widget. My biggest unknown is the best way to implement a custom Windows application-window.

  • Why adding custom objects to List<T> in ApplicationSettingsBase via constructor doesn't work?

    - by BadNinja
    This is pretty closely related to another SO question. Using the example below, could someone explain to me why adding a new List<Foo> where each of Foo's properties are explicitly set causes the ApplicationSettingsBase.Save() method to correctly store the data, whereas adding a new Foo to the list via a constructor (where the constructor sets the property values) does not work? Thanks! public class Foo { public Foo(string blah, string doh) { this.Blah = blah; this.Doh = doh; } public Foo() { } public string Blah { get; set; } public string Doh { get; set; } } public sealed class MySettings : ApplicationSettingsBase { [UserScopedSetting] public List<Foo> MyFoos { get { return (List<Foo>)this["MyFoos"]; } set { this["MyFoos"] = value; } } } // Here's the question... private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { MySettings mySettings = new MySettings(); // Adding new Foo's to the list like this doesn't work. List<Foo> theList = new List<Foo>() { new Foo("doesn't","work") }; // But doing it like this DOES work. List<Foo> theList = new List<Foo>() { new Foo() {Blah = "DOES", Doh = "work"} }; mySettings.MyFoos = theList; mySettings.Save(); }

  • How to set different colors to the bars in stacked bar chart in ireport ?

    - by Purushotham
    Hi, I need to set a unique color to each bar in the stacked bar chart. Whatever the color I see in one bar it shouldn't be repeated in any other bar or any other stack. For example: I have 5 bars in the report. Each bar has 3 different stacks. I want to apply a red related colors to the first bar and its stacks. Second bar should have blue related colors. etc.. It is showed in the attached image. The image shows a very basic requirement what we want. Just created using a normal ms paint. Stacked Bar MS Paint Image

  • Remove Action Bar icon but keep the UP button

    - by Gaurav
    I am developing an application which runs on both honeycomb and ice cream sandwich. I want my action bar not to have the icon but keep the "up/home" button. I used: getActionBar().setDisplayOptions(0, ActionBar.DISPLAY_SHOW_HOME); This removes the action bar icon but keeps the "up" button on ice cream sandwich. But on honeycomb, it removes the "up" button as well. Is there a way on honeycomb that allows me to keep the "up" button but get rid of the icon?

    - by iPhoneDev
    I have added Tab Bar in Navigation based tamplate like this: [self.navigationController pushViewController:anotherViewController animated:YES]; And I think this is not the correct way to have Tab Bar in detail view in Navigation based tamplate. Please make me correct? UnsentView *unsent = [[UnsentView alloc] initWithNibName:@"UnsentView" bundle:nil]; unsent.title =@"Unsent"; UITabBarController *anotherViewController = [[UITabBarController alloc] init]; anotherViewController.viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects: unsent, setting, nil]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:anotherViewController animated:YES]; [anotherViewController release];

  • C++ function overloading and dynamic binding compile problem

Why is this so? Is it possible to compile the code without changing the method name of "foo(void)"? Thanks.

  • Handle/Grip bar convention

    - by tomdemuyt
    Greetings, Because textarea elements do not resize with jquery.touch ( http://plugins.jquery.com/project/touch ), I've put an textarea in a table where the first row allows the user to drag the table around and resize it with the textarea growing/shrinking/moving along. It works well, except that users dont seem to 'get' that they can use the bar to resize/move. I was trying to find some 'grip bar' graphics but google isnt helping me. What is the best way to show users that an element can be moved/resized ? Pointer to graphics ( generators ) would be great. Or, does any one know how to make textarea's movable/resizable ? T.

  • How to change the color of the navigation bar in more than one table view controller

    - by Dctennisboy
    I am trying to figure out how to change the color of the table view navigation bar in multiple table views. The table views are all connected to a navigation controller. For example, I want one navigation bar to be blue, but another to be red. I have tried the code below in the AppDelegate.m file, but it just changes all the navigation bars to the same color. Is there anywhere else I could place this code to change the color in specific places. I've heard that I need to create new files, but I don't know where to place the code, or what code to use in the new files. I am somewhat new to this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated![[UINavigationBar appearance] setBarTintColor:[UIColor orangeColor]];

  • How to hide the title bar while application is loading and show it when it finishes loading?

    - by Arci
    I have an application which uses a custom title bar. However, when my application launches, I noticed that the default title bar is shown for a brief period of time. My problem is I don't want to show the default title bar while my application is loading. How do I hide the title bar while my application is loading so that there will be no hint of it and then show it afterwards? So far, I tried the following solutions but none have worked: Hide the title bar in XML and then set the custom title bar in code. (Problem encountered: I received an error message saying: "You cannot combine custom titles with other title features".) In XML: <item name="android:windowNoTitle">true</item> In onCreate method: requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_CUSTOM_TITLE); //... some code goes here getWindow().setFeatureInt(Window.FEATURE_CUSTOM_TITLE, R.layout.title_header); Set the size of the title bar in XML to 0. Then change it's size via code later. (Problem encountered: I don't know how to set the size of title bar in code. Is it possible? I tried getWindow().setAttributes() and getWindow().setLayout() but both of them didn't worked.)" In XML: <item name="android:windowTitleSize">30dp</item> Modify windowTitleBackgroundStyle and set a transparent drawable as background. (Problem encountered: The content of the title bar became invisible but a line below the title bar is still visible.) In XML: <!-- style used by windowTitleBackgroundStyle --> <item name="android:background">@drawable/transparent</item>

  • Creating a fancy search bar with Swing components

    - by Kavon Farvardin
    I'm trying to come up with an elegant recreation of the search bar component in Thunderbird. The clear button doesn't appear until there is text in the box, so that screen-shot is a bit inaccurate. Should I use a layered pane and get some buttons to float above the box? (but then getting the text to not appear below the buttons would be hacky) Maybe just put buttons at the ends of the search bar and have it somehow blend in? Any ideas or maybe a style reconsideration is welcome, thank you.

    I am using the below code to update my progress bar. ProgressBar.Visible = true; ProgressBar.Minimum = 1; ProgressBar.Maximum = PortCount; ProgressBar.Value = 1; ProgressBar.Step = 1; int intdata = 5; for (int x = 1; x <= intdata; x++) { ProgressBar.PerformStep(); } MessageBox.Show("Done"); But, it is not getting updated during runtime. Is it because the progress bar is in the same thread. If so, how to update this progress from another thread. Help...

  • Scala :: operator, how it works?

    - by Felix
    Hello Guys, in Scala, I can make a caseclass case class Foo(x:Int) and then put it in a list like so: List(Foo(42)) Now, nothing strange here. The following is strange to me. The operator :: is a function on a list, right? With any function with 1 argument in Scala, I can call it with infix notation. An example is 1 + 2 is a function (+) on the object Int. The class Foo I just defined does not have the :: operator, so how is the following possible: Foo(40) :: List(Foo(2)) ? In scala 2.8 rc1, I get the following output from the interactive prompt: scala> case class Foo(x:Int) defined class Foo scala> Foo(40) :: List(Foo(2)) res2: List[Foo] = List(Foo(40), Foo(2)) scala> I can go on and use it, but if someone can explain it I will be glad :)

  • Binding a value to one of two possibilities in Guice

    - by Kelvin Chung
    Suppose I have a value for which I have a default, which can be overridden if System.getProperty("foo") is set. I have one module for which I have bindConstant().annotatedWith(Names.named("Default foo")).to(defaultValue); I'm wondering what the best way of implementing a module for which I want to bind something annotated with "foo" to System.getProperty("foo"), or, if it does not exist, the "Default foo" binding. I've thought of a simple module like so: public class SimpleIfBlockModule extends AbstractModule { @Override public void configure() { requireBinding(Key.get(String.class, Names.named("Default foo"))); if (System.getProperties().containsKey("foo")) { bindConstant().annotatedWith(Names.named("foo")).to(System.getProperty("foo")); } else { bind(String.class).annotatedWith(Names.named("foo")).to(Key.get(String.class, Names.named("Default foo"))); } } } I've also considered creating a "system property module" like so: public class SystemPropertyModule extends PrivateModule { @Override public void configure() { Names.bindProperties(binder(), System.getProperties()); if (System.getProperties().contains("foo")) { expose(String.class).annotatedWith(Names.named("foo")); } } } And using SystemPropertyModule to create an injector that a third module, which does the binding of "foo". Both of these seem to have their downsides, so I'm wondering if there is anything I should be doing differently. I was hoping for something that's both injector-free and reasonably generalizable to multiple "foo" attributes. Any ideas?

  • Importing package as a submodule

    - by wecac
    Hi, I have a package 3rd party open source package "foo"; that is in beta phase and I want to tweak it to my requirements. So I don't want to get it installed in /usr/local/lib/python or anywhere in current sys.path as I can't make frequent changes in top level packages. foo/ __init__.py fmod1.py import foo.mod2 fmod2.py pass I want to install the the package "foo" as a sub package of my namespace say "team.my_pkg". So that the "fullname" of the package becomes "team.my_pkg.foo" without changing the code in inner modules that refer "team.my_pkg.foo" as "foo". team/ __init__.py my_pkg/ __init__.py foo/ fmod1.py import foo.mod2 fmod2.py pass One way to do this is to do this in team.my_pkg.init.py: import os.path import sys sys.path.append(os.path.dirname(__file__)) But I think it is very unsafe. I hope there is some way that only fmod1.py and fmod2.py can call "foo" by its short name everything else should use its complete name "team.my_pkg.foo" I mean this should fail outside team/my_pkg/foo: import team.my_pkg import foo But this should succeed outside team/my_pkg/foo: import team.my_pkg.foo

  • iphone - Search bar disappears from my root view controller

    - by Sudharsanan
    Hi, I have a search bar in my main screen - root table view controller. If I browse other screens and come back, sometimes, the search bar disappears. Here's my code. searchBar = [[UISearchBar alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, self.tableView.frame.size.width, 0)]; searchBar.delegate = self; searchBar.tintColor = [UIColor blackColor]; [searchBar sizeToFit]; self.tableView.tableHeaderView = searchBar; searchDisplayController = [[UISearchDisplayController alloc] initWithSearchBar:searchBar contentsController:self]; searchDisplayController.delegate = self; searchDisplayController.searchResultsDataSource = self; searchDisplayController.searchResultsDelegate = self; Is there anything wrong with my code or is it one of the quirks of SDK 3.0?
