  • Home screen widget size for large screen or hdpi?

    - by kknight
From Android widget screen guidelines, http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/ui_guidelines/widget_design.html, we know that, home screen has 4*4 cells, and in portrait orientation, each cell is 80 pixels wide by 100 pixels tall. I think these are for baseline HVGA screen. How about for large screens and hdpi screens, do they still have 4*4 cells for widget and each cell in portrait orientation is still 80 pixels * 100 pixels? Thanks.

  • How to get a single widget to set 2 fields in Django?

    - by kender
Hi, I got a model with 2 fields: latitude and longitude. Right now they're 2 CharFields, but I want to make a custom widget to set it in admin - was thinking about displaying Google Maps, then getting the coordinates of the marker. But can I have 1 widget (a single map) to set 2 different fields?

  • Is there a jQuery widget equal to DOJO's TitlePane?

    - by Bill Caswell
I like the visual behavior of the DOJO TitlePane widget, but it has too much other bunk for my purpose. http://dojotoolkit.org/reference-guide/dijit/TitlePane.html#dijit-titlepane Is anyone aware of a jQuery widget that provides the same ability to expose and hide content in a stacked manner with the little flippy-arrow, pane highlighting on mouse over, etc? An accordion does not accomplish my goal being able to have multiple panes open at the same time. Thanks in advance.

  • pyQt4: QWidget subclass not responding to new setStyleSheet() background colour

    - by Ronny
I am having an issue with PyQt4. I want to create a new widget within a window, and I want this widget to have a custom color. When i create a subclass of the QWidget class, and instantiate it, I am not able to change its background color through the setStyleSheet() function. When I instantiate a new QWidget object, I have no problems in changing its background color. But i dont want an ordinary QWidget object.I want to create my own subclass of QWidget. When i create a subclass of a QPushButton, I am also able to change its background color using the setStyleSheet() function. There are no error messages or warnings in the console window, it just refuses to work properly without any indication as to why. So what i would like to know is why is it that i can change the background color of a widget if i simply create a QWidget object, or a subclass of QPushButton, but not when i create a subclass of QWidget. And how can i therefore change the background color of an object that is a subclass of QWidget? Is it maybe something specific to the version of python or PyQt that i am using? Is it a bug in the library? or some flaw in the way that i am writing my code? I am using python 2.6.4 and PyQt4 Below is an example of the code that leads me to trouble. There are three widgets within the window one below the other. The parent widget is set with background color of green. The top widget is set to red, the middle one, is the subclass of QWidget, which should be blue, but it appears invisible because it takes on the color of the parent window for some reason. and the bottom widget is a subclass of QPushButton and is white. import sys from PyQt4 import QtGui, QtCore ################################################################################ #--------------------------------------------------------- CUSTOM WIDGET CLASS 1 class CustomWidget(QtGui.QWidget): def __init__(self, parent): QtGui.QWidget.__init__(self, parent) # some custom properties and functions will follow ################################################################################ #--------------------------------------------------------- CUSTOM WIDGET CLASS 2 class CustomWidget2(QtGui.QPushButton): def __init__(self, parent): QtGui.QPushButton.__init__(self, parent) # some custom properties and functions will follow ################################################################################ #----------------------------------------------------------- PARENT WIDGET CLASS class Parent(QtGui.QWidget): def __init__(self, parent=None): #---------------------------------------------------------- SETUP WINDOW QtGui.QWidget.__init__(self, parent) self.resize(500, 340) self.setStyleSheet("QWidget {background-color: #00FF00}") #-------------------------------------------------- SETUP DEFAULT WIDGET wid1 = QtGui.QWidget(self) wid1.setGeometry(10, 10, 480, 100) wid1.setStyleSheet("QWidget {background-color: #FF0000 }") #------------------------------------------------- SETUP CUSTOM WIDGET 1 wid2 = CustomWidget(self) wid2.setGeometry(10, 120, 480, 100) wid2.setStyleSheet("QWidget {background-color: #0000FF }") for i in dir(wid2): print i #------------------------------------------------- SETUP CUSTOM WIDGET 2 wid3 = CustomWidget2(self) wid3.setGeometry(10, 230, 480, 100) wid3.setStyleSheet("QWidget {background-color: #FFFFFF }") ################################################################################ #-------------------------------------------------------------------------- MAIN app = QtGui.QApplication(sys.argv) win = Parent() win.show() app.exec_()

  • android app working on simulator but not on phone

    - by raqz
i have this app that i developed and it works great on the simulator with no errors what so ever. but the moment i try to run the same on the phone for testing, the app crashes stating filenotfoundexception. it says the file /res/drawable/divider_horizontal.9.png is missing. but actually speaking, i have never referenced that file through my code. i believe its a system/os file that is unavailable. i have a custom list view, i guess its the divider there... could somebody please suggest what is wrong here. i believe this is a similar issue discussed here..but i am unable to make • WPF ComboBox Object Binding - not updating DataContext Object

    - by Jaysen
Hello, I have the following scenario: 1 class called 'Widget' with the properties: ID, Code, Description 1 class called 'MyWidget' with a property: m_Widget As Widget 1 ComboBox The ComboBox has a List(Of Widget) set as the ItemSource. I create an instance of 'MyWidget' named MyWidget1 and I set the property values of the m_Widget to match one of the items in the 'ComboBox List(Of Widget)'. I then set the DataContext of the ComboBox to MyWidget1.Widget. When I change the ComboBox selected item, only the ID property of 'MyWidget1.Widget' gets updated... How do I get the object 'Widget' on 'MyWidget1' to be updated instead of just 'MyWidget1.Widget.ID'? Here is a link to a sample project demonstrating this scenario: http://www.webpersona.com/ObjectBinding.zip Thanks in advance for any help :)

  • GWT CssResource Customization

    - by Eric Landry
I'm writing a GWT widget using UIBinder and MVP. The widget's default styles are defined in TheWidgetView.ui.xml: <ui:style type="com.widgetlib.spinner.display.TheWidgetView.MyStyle"> .textbox { border: 1px solid #red; } .important { font-weight: bold; } </ui:style> The widget's CssResource interface is defined in TheWidgetView.java: public class TheWidgetView extends HorizontalPanel implements TheWidgetPresenter.Display { // ... some code @UiField MyStyle style; public interface MyStyle extends CssResource { String textbox(); String important(); } // ... more code } I'd like the consumer of this widget to be able to customize part of the widget's styles and to have this in their MyExample.ui.xml: <ui:style type="com.consumer.MyExample.MyStyle"> .textbox { border: 2px solid #black; } </ui:style> And this be their MyExample.java: public class MyExample extends Composite { // ... some code @UiField MyStyle style; interface MyStyle extends TheWidgetView.MyStyle{ String textbox(); } // ... more code } Is there a way that my widget can have default styles, but that the consumer of the widget can override one of them? When an interface extends TheWidgetView.MyStyle, the of the widget consumer needs to define all the styles listed in that parent interface. I've seen some widget libraries have the widget's constructor take in a ClientBundle as parameter, which I suppose could apply to CssResource. Although, I'm not sure how I'd pass in this style object in a constructor invoked by UIBinder. Thanks much in advance!

  • Android - exception from an AsynchTask call

    I have an Activity that makes a remote server call and tries to populate a list. The call to the server works fine, and the call returns some JSON which is good. But then the system throws this exception: 04-06 18:43:19.626: D/AndroidRuntime(2564): Shutting down VM 04-06 18:43:19.626: W/dalvikvm(2564): threadid=1: thread exiting with uncaught exception (group=0x409c01f8) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): FATAL EXCEPTION: main 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): java.lang.NullPointerException 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.widget.ArrayAdapter.createViewFromResource(ArrayAdapter.java:394) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.widget.ArrayAdapter.getView(ArrayAdapter.java:362) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.widget.AbsListView.obtainView(AbsListView.java:2033) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.widget.ListView.measureHeightOfChildren(ListView.java:1244) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.widget.ListView.onMeasure(ListView.java:1155) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.view.View.measure(View.java:12723) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.view.ViewGroup.measureChildWithMargins(ViewGroup.java:4698) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.widget.LinearLayout.measureChildBeforeLayout(LinearLayout.java:1369) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.widget.LinearLayout.measureVertical(LinearLayout.java:660) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.widget.LinearLayout.onMeasure(LinearLayout.java:553) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.view.View.measure(View.java:12723) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.view.ViewGroup.measureChildWithMargins(ViewGroup.java:4698) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.widget.FrameLayout.onMeasure(FrameLayout.java:293) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.view.View.measure(View.java:12723) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.widget.LinearLayout.measureVertical(LinearLayout.java:812) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.widget.LinearLayout.onMeasure(LinearLayout.java:553) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.view.View.measure(View.java:12723) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.view.ViewGroup.measureChildWithMargins(ViewGroup.java:4698) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.widget.FrameLayout.onMeasure(FrameLayout.java:293) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindow$DecorView.onMeasure(PhoneWindow.java:2092) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.view.View.measure(View.java:12723) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.view.ViewRootImpl.performTraversals(ViewRootImpl.java:1064) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.view.ViewRootImpl.handleMessage(ViewRootImpl.java:2442) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:137) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4424) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:511) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:784) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:551) 04-06 18:43:19.686: E/AndroidRuntime(2564): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) Why would this happen? • Saving Dragged Dropped items position on postback in asp.net [closed]

    - by Deeptechtons
Ok i saw many post's on how to serialize the value of dragged items to get hash and they tell how to save them. Now the question is how do i persist the dragged items the next time when user log's in using the has value that i got eg: <ul class="list"> <li id="id_1"> <div class="item ui-corner-all ui-widget ui-widget-content"> </div> </li> <li id="id_2"> <div class="item ui-corner-all ui-widget ui-widget-content"> </div> </li> <li id="id_3"> <div class="item ui-corner-all ui-widget ui-widget-content"> </div> </li> <li id="id_4"> <div class="item ui-corner-all ui-widget"> </div> </li> </ul> which on serialize will give "id[]=1&id[]=2&id[]=3&id[]=4" Now think that i saved it to Sql server database in a single field called SortOrder. Now how do i get the items to these order again ? the code to make these sort is below, without which people didn't know which library i had used to sort and serialize <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $(".list li").css("cursor", "move"); $(".list").sortable(); }); </script>

  • How can I make a home widget behave like a launcher icon?

    - by Tughi
    I have a widget that acts as a launcher on the home screen. How can I make it behave like a launcher icon? I use this layout for portrait: <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <RelativeLayout android:background="@drawable/widget_background_selector" android:focusable="true" android:layout_width="74dip" android:layout_height="79dip" android:layout_marginLeft="3dip" android:layout_marginTop="14dip"> <ImageView android:id="@android:id/background" android:layout_width="72dip" android:layout_height="72dip" android:layout_marginLeft="1dip" android:layout_marginTop="4dip" /> </RelativeLayout> </RelativeLayout> And this is the background selector: <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <item android:state_pressed="true" android:drawable="@drawable/widget_background_pressed" /> <item android:state_window_focused="true" android:state_focused="true" android:drawable="@drawable/widget_background_focused" /> <item android:state_window_focused="false" android:state_focused="true" android:drawable="@android:color/transparent" /> </selector> This way if I use the DPAD the widget is focusable but the click doesn't work. The touch still works but the widget is not displayed as focused. Any idea what I do wrong?

  • Why do I get a segmentation fault while redirecting sys.stdout to Tkinter.Text widget in Python?

    - by Brent Nash
I'm in the process of building a GUI-based application with Python/Tkinter that builds on top of the existing Python bdb module. In this application, I want to silence all stdout/stderr from the console and redirect it to my GUI. To accomplish this purpose, I've written a specialized Tkinter.Text object (code at the end of the post). The basic idea is that when something is written to sys.stdout, it shows up as a line in the "Text" with the color black. If something is written to sys.stderr, it shows up as a line in the "Text" with the color red. As soon as something is written, the Text always scrolls down to view the most recent line. I'm using Python 2.6.1 at the moment. On Mac OS X 10.5, this seems to work great. I have had zero problems with it. On RedHat Enterprise Linux 5, however, I pretty reliably get a segmentation fault during the run of a script. The segmentation fault doesn't always occur in the same place, but it pretty much always occurs. If I comment out the sys.stdout= and sys.stderr= lines from my code, the segmentation faults seem to go away. I'm sure there are other ways around this that I will probably have to resort to, but can anyone see anything I'm doing blatantly wrong here that could be causing these segmentation faults? It's driving me nuts. Thanks! PS - I realize redirecting sys.stderr to the GUI might not be a great idea, but I still get segmentation faults even when I only redirect sys.stdout and not sys.stderr. I also realize that I'm allowing the Text to grow indefinitely at the moment. class ConsoleText(tk.Text): '''A Tkinter Text widget that provides a scrolling display of console stderr and stdout.''' class IORedirector(object): '''A general class for redirecting I/O to this Text widget.''' def __init__(self,text_area): self.text_area = text_area class StdoutRedirector(IORedirector): '''A class for redirecting stdout to this Text widget.''' def write(self, str): self.text_area.write(str,False) class StderrRedirector(IORedirector): '''A class for redirecting stderr to this Text widget.''' def write(self, str): self.text_area.write(str,True) def __init__(self, master=None, cnf={}, **kw): '''See the __init__ for Tkinter.Text for most of this stuff.''' tk.Text.__init__(self, master, cnf, **kw) self.started = False self.write_lock = threading.Lock() self.tag_configure('STDOUT',background='white',foreground='black') self.tag_configure('STDERR',background='white',foreground='red') self.config(state=tk.DISABLED) def start(self): if self.started: return self.started = True self.original_stdout = sys.stdout self.original_stderr = sys.stderr stdout_redirector = ConsoleText.StdoutRedirector(self) stderr_redirector = ConsoleText.StderrRedirector(self) sys.stdout = stdout_redirector sys.stderr = stderr_redirector def stop(self): if not self.started: return self.started = False sys.stdout = self.original_stdout sys.stderr = self.original_stderr def write(self,val,is_stderr=False): #Fun Fact: The way Tkinter Text objects work is that if they're disabled, #you can't write into them AT ALL (via the GUI or programatically). Since we want them #disabled for the user, we have to set them to NORMAL (a.k.a. ENABLED), write to them, #then set their state back to DISABLED. self.write_lock.acquire() self.config(state=tk.NORMAL) self.insert('end',val,'STDERR' if is_stderr else 'STDOUT') self.see('end') self.config(state=tk.DISABLED) self.write_lock.release()

I'm using a cursor with a custom adapter that extends SimpleCursorAdapter: public class ListWordAdapter extends SimpleCursorAdapter { private LayoutInflater inflater; private Cursor mCursor; private int mLayout; private String[] from; private int[] to; public ListWordAdapter(Context context, int layout, Cursor c, String[] from, int[] to, int flags) { super(context, layout, c, from, to, flags); this.mCursor = c; this.inflater = LayoutInflater.from(context); this.mLayout = layout; this.from = from; this.to = to; } private static class ViewHolder { //public ImageView img; public TextView name; public TextView type; public TextView translate; } @Override public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { if (mCursor.moveToPosition(position)) { ViewHolder holder; if (convertView == null) { convertView = inflater.inflate(mLayout, null); holder = new ViewHolder(); // holder.img = (ImageView) convertView.findViewById(R.id.img_row); holder.name = (TextView) convertView.findViewById(to[0]); holder.type = (TextView) convertView.findViewById(to[1]); holder.translate = (TextView) convertView.findViewById(to[2]); convertView.setTag(holder); } else { holder = (ViewHolder) convertView.getTag(); } holder.name.setText(mCursor.getString(mCursor.getColumnIndex(from[0]))); holder.type.setText(mCursor.getString(mCursor.getColumnIndex(from[1]))); holder.translate.setText(mCursor.getString(mCursor.getColumnIndex(from[2]))); // holder.img.setImageResource(img_resource); } return convertView; } } And in the main activity I call it as: adapter = new ListWordAdapter(getSherlockActivity(), R.layout.row_list_words, mCursorWords, from, to, 0); When a modification in the list is made, I call this method: public void onWordSaved() { WordDAO wordsDao = new WordSqliteDAO(); Cursor mCursorWords = wordsDao.list(getSherlockActivity()); adapter.changeCursor(mCursorWords); } The thing here is that this produces me this exception: 10-29 of ListWordAdapter, it works fine. What's wrong with my custom adapter implementation? The line in bold in the stack trace corresponds with: if (mCursor.moveToPosition(position)) inside getView method. EDIT: I have created a custom class to manage DB operations as open and close: public class ConexionBD { private Context context; private SQLiteDatabase database; private DataBaseHelper dbHelper; public ConexionBD(Context context) { this.context = context; } public ConexionBD open() throws SQLException { this.dbHelper = DataBaseHelper.getInstance(context); this.database = dbHelper.getWritableDatabase(); database.execSQL("PRAGMA foreign_keys=ON"); return this; } public void close() { if (database.isOpen() && database != null) { dbHelper.close(); } } /*Getters y setters*/ public SQLiteDatabase getDatabase() { return database; } public void setDatabase(SQLiteDatabase database) { this.database = database; } } And this is my DataBaseHelper: public class DataBaseHelper extends SQLiteOpenHelper { private static final String DATABASE_NAME = "myDb"; private static final int DATABASE_VERSION = 1; private static DataBaseHelper sInstance = null; public static DataBaseHelper getInstance(Context context) { // Use the application context, which will ensure that you // don't accidentally leak an Activity's context. // See this article for more information: http://bit.ly/6LRzfx if (sInstance == null) { sInstance = new DataBaseHelper(context.getApplicationContext()); } return sInstance; } @Override public void onCreate(SQLiteDatabase database) { ... } .... And this is an example of how I manage a query: public Cursor list(Context context) { ConexionBD conexion = new ConexionBD(context); Cursor mCursor = null; try{ conexion.open(); mCursor = conexion.getDatabase().query(DataBaseHelper.TABLE_WORD , null , null, null, null, null, Word.NAME); if (mCursor != null) { mCursor.moveToFirst(); } }finally{ conexion.close(); } return mCursor; } For every connection to the DB I open it and close it.

  • I have finally traded my Blackberry in for a Droid!

    - by Bob Porter
Over the years I have used a number of different types of phones. Windows Mobile, Blackberry, Nokia, and now Android. Until the Blackberry, which was my last phone (and I still have one issued from my office) I had never found a phone that “just worked” especially with email and messaging. The Blackberry did, and does, excel at those functions. My last personal phone was a Storm 1 which was Blackberry’s first touch screen phone. The Storm 2 was an improved version that fixed some screen press detection issues from the first model and it added Wifi. Over the last few years I have watched others acquire and fall in love with their ‘Droid’s including a number of iPhone users which surprised me. Our office has until recently only supported Blackberry phones, adding iPhones within the last year or so. When I spoke with our internal telecom folks they confirmed they were evaluating Android phones, but felt they still were not secure enough out of the box for corporate use and SOX compliance. That being said, as a personal phone, the Droid Rocks! I am impressed with its speed, the number of apps available, and the overall design. It is not as “flashy” as an iPhone but it does everything that I care about and more. The model I bought is the Motorola Droid 2 Global from Verizon. It is currently running Android 2.2 for it’s OS, 2.3 is just around the corner. It has 8 gigs of internal flash memory and can handle up to a 32 gig SDCard. (I currently have 2 8 gig cards, one for backups, and have ordered a 16 gig card!) Being a geek at heart, I “rooted” the phone which means gained superuser access to the OS on the phone. And opens a number of doors for further modifications down the road. Also being a geek meant I have already setup a development environment and built and deployed the obligatory “Hello Droid” application. I will be writing of my development experiences with this new platform here often, to start off I thought I would share my current application list to give you an idea what I am using. • How create widget with clickable text in QT/PyQt?

    - by serge
Hi everyone, i'm trying to realize non-editable QTableView with widgets in cells that should contain clickable listed text. With following code i'm setting widget in definite cell: view = QTableView() label = QLabel( <some html text> ) ... view.setIndexWidget(index, label) I used html to make label's text clickable, but links became blue with underline and moreover by clicking on it with right mouse button appears popup menu with "Copy Link Locaion" option, where i wanted to place some hidden information instead of url and of course do not let user see this info. I'm looking for light-weight widget, i thought that insertion of QGraphicsView in each cell will lead to big computer loads, but can't think of any other solution. Can you advice what should i use for this purpose? Thank you in advance Serge

i m using jQuery tablsorter plugin, it's working perfect, but now problem is ... i want to enable sorting only on 1'st and 3'rd column, and i also want to show different color of alternate row. i used widgets:[zebra], but using widget zebra, it enables sorting on all column as well as images(asc.gif,desc.gif,bg.gif) is also appearing on all headers whereas i only want these on only first and 3rd column how to use zebra widget with specific column sorting not the whole columns sorting here is my code <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#managerTable").tablesorter({widgets: ['zebra']}, {sortList:[[0,0]],headers:{2:{sorter:false},4:{sorter:false}} }); }); </script>

  • How to detect orientation change in home screen widget?

    - by kknight
    I am writing a home screen widget and want to update the home screen widget when the device orientation changes from portrait to landscape or the other way. How can I make it? Currently, I tried to reigster to CONFIGURATION_CHANGED action like the code below, but the Android didn't allow me to do that by saying "IntentReceiver components are not allowed to register to receive intents". Can someone help me? Thanks. public class MyWidget extends AppWidgetProvider { @Override public void onEnabled(Context context) { super.onEnabled(context); this.registerReceiver(this, new IntentFilter(Intent.ACTION_CONFIGURATION_CHANGED)); }

  • Showing ImageView next to TextView in a ListView

    - by KDEx
    So I have a listview that is displaying correctly. When the item is "turned on" the text is white and when it's turned off it's grey. That part all functions great. However when I add the ImageView into the mix I get a null pointer exception. I don't understand why. I've tried using bitmaps as well and get the same problem. Here is some code: @Override public void bindView(View view, Context context, Cursor cursor) { TextView rRule = (TextView) view.findViewById(R.id.rule_text); TextView rType = (TextView) view.findViewById(R.id.rule_type); ImageView iChecked = (ImageView) view.findViewById(R.id.checkBox); String ruleName = cursor.getString(1); int ruleType = cursor.getInt(2); String ruleEnabled = cursor.getString(3); switch (ruleType) { /*...some irrelevant code */ } if (ruleEnabled.equals("true")) { rRule.setTypeface(null, Typeface.BOLD); rRule.setTextColor(Color.WHITE); iChecked.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); //line 271 } else if (ruleEnabled.equals("false")) { rRule.setTypeface(null, Typeface.NORMAL); rRule.setTextColor(Color.GRAY); iChecked.setVisibility(View.GONE); } rRule.setText(ruleName); } Per request the error log: (Sorry was under the impression null pointers dont say anything helpful..I know the error is the imageview) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): FATAL EXCEPTION: main 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): java.lang.NullPointerException 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at com.company.app.DefaultRulesList$RulesAdapter.bindView(DefaultRulesList.java:271) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at com.company.app.DefaultRulesList$RulesAdapter.newView(DefaultRulesList.java:284) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.widget.CursorAdapter.getView(CursorAdapter.java:246) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.widget.AbsListView.obtainView(AbsListView.java:2033) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.widget.ListView.makeAndAddView(ListView.java:1772) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.widget.ListView.fillDown(ListView.java:672) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.widget.ListView.fillFromTop(ListView.java:732) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.widget.ListView.layoutChildren(ListView.java:1625) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.widget.AbsListView.onLayout(AbsListView.java:1863) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.view.View.layout(View.java:11278) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.view.ViewGroup.layout(ViewGroup.java:4224) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.widget.LinearLayout.setChildFrame(LinearLayout.java:1628) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.widget.LinearLayout.layoutVertical(LinearLayout.java:1486) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.widget.LinearLayout.onLayout(LinearLayout.java:1399) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.view.View.layout(View.java:11278) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.view.ViewGroup.layout(ViewGroup.java:4224) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.widget.FrameLayout.onLayout(FrameLayout.java:431) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.view.View.layout(View.java:11278) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.view.ViewGroup.layout(ViewGroup.java:4224) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.widget.LinearLayout.setChildFrame(LinearLayout.java:1628) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.widget.LinearLayout.layoutVertical(LinearLayout.java:1486) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.widget.LinearLayout.onLayout(LinearLayout.java:1399) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.view.View.layout(View.java:11278) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.view.ViewGroup.layout(ViewGroup.java:4224) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.widget.FrameLayout.onLayout(FrameLayout.java:431) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.view.View.layout(View.java:11278) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.view.ViewGroup.layout(ViewGroup.java:4224) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.view.ViewRootImpl.performTraversals(ViewRootImpl.java:1489) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.view.ViewRootImpl.handleMessage(ViewRootImpl.java:2442) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:137) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4424) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:511) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:784) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:551) 06-29 10:29:02.777: E/AndroidRuntime(29516): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) Code for iChecked (where the id is called) <ImageView android:id="@+id/checkBox" android:padding="2dip" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:background="@android:drawable/checkbox_on_background"/>

  • How do I construct a Django form with model objects in a Select widget?

    - by Thierry Lam
Let's say I'm using the Django Site model: class Site(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=50) My Site values are (key, value): 1. Stackoverflow 2. Serverfault 3. Superuser I want to construct a form with an html select widget with the above values: <select> <option value="1">Stackoverflow</option> <option value="2">Serverfault</option> <option value="3">Superuser</option> </select> I'm thinking of starting with the following code but it's incomplete: class SiteForm(forms.Form): site = forms.IntegerField(widget=forms.Select()) Any ideas how I can achieve that with Django form?

  • How to get the width of the whole text of the widget in WPF?

    - by macias
Remarks Before I ask, let me focus on words: the length of "i" is 1 the length of "w" is 1 the render width of "w" is greater than "i" (except for monospace font) -- I am interested in this and from now on, I would simply write "width" The problem (small picture) Let's say I have incredible long text set for TextBlock widget which width is 100. And the text does not fit (the text is clipped -- i.e. only small portion of text is visible). The question is -- what is the width of the entire text (visible + not visible parts)? The background (big picture) I have a window width DataGrid (WPF standard) as main widget which contains text. I try to resize window and DataGrid in such way, that all texts will be visible without need of resizing and/or scrolling. I focus on width. The size of the window vs. size of the screen is not an issue, the text is so short that it would fit even on netbook screen.

  • Changing tab indicators to a view in a tab widget?

    - by user246114
Hi, I have a layout which requires a tab widget containing two tabs. Ideally I'd like to have each tab just be a completely flat colored rectangle, side by side. Almost exactly like the buttons you see at the top of this web page titled: "Questions" | "Tags" | "Users" | "Badges" | "Unanswered" but without the whitespace in between. I'd like to have the highlighted tab have a brighter background color. Is this possible using the tab widget? I know in 1.6+ there's a method to specify a view for the tabs themselves, but can I achieve this tight look, or should I just roll my own? Thanks

  • MacBook makes a noise from the MagSafe connection every time I flip a widget...

    - by Timmy
OK this is bizarre. But basically, what happens is on my MacBook (latest model) whenever I 'flip' a Dashboard Widget I hear a little noise for the duration of the flip: like a tiny continuous squeak noise. It's quite strange. However, it only ever happens when the MagSafe cable is plugged in. WHY?! :'( The noise appears to me emitted from the MagSafe area itself, but, there's not any other CoreAnimation or Quartzey bits that cause this to happen, it only happens with Dashboard widgets... The noise is very quiet and you can only hear it in a silent room. Edit: Running the latest Snow Leopard.
