    So. I'm working right now as an intern in a mobile game development company. I've used Unity quite a lot for 1 year now but, that's about all the experience I have with game design/development. Here's the things. I wanna go indie, the main reason is for fun, I really enjoy games and by making indie games I believe I can let my imagination fly and make personal personal stuff. Unfortunately I...I just don't know where to start! I'm interestes in making mobile and web games so what...should I download Stencyl? Construct 2?...XCODE for iOS, maybe a great plugin for Unity would be fine? What whould be your single best advice for someone like me? (programmer and interestes in design) :)

    I have a personal website and just realized that the display is very different between Firefox (tested 19.0.2 and 25) and Chrome 30.0.1599.101 m Firefox display (this is how I intended it to look. In Chrome & IE9.0 the DIVs all seem to stagger on their own..... ? Im just an amateur and this is my personal blog for fun, Ive never had to troubleshoot a rendering issue like this one. Not sure how to go about doing it? Can Firebug help with determining where layout is inherited from? I have sample HTML if needed but didn't want to cloud up the questions a wall of text.

  • Partition Hard Drive For Data

    Greetings ~ I am a new Linux/Ubuntu user. For various reasons (mostly my own ignorance) I am on my third install of Ubuntu 12.04. I want to partition the hard drive to create a drive for data and personal files in case I ever have to install again. I have been struggling all afternoon to make a gparted live USB. Tuxboot looked like the answer but I get an error message when using it. So, I am asking for help. Ultimately, I want to partition the hard drive for data and personal files. What do you recommend?

  • Google Apps for Domains, Multiple Domains

    I have a primary google apps for domains account which I use for my personal email, calender, docs etc and is great. I also receive my pop3 company email via settings-Get mail from other accounts in my account. Due to spam I want to make use of gmail servers for my company email and have two options: [1] Add my second domain as a domain alias [2] Create a new apps for domains account If I do [1] above do I access (send and receive) my company email as if it was a separate account or is it merged into my primary domain. I want the two seperated. If I perform [2] can I share my contacts / calender between the two? I also have Act! contact manager which syncs to my primary domain and it is getting messy now with personal and work contacts being changed / sync'd to my Act CM software. I want to try and separate my personal and work contacts (but make the work them avaiable in my primary domain). Hope this makes sense! Your suggestions are gratefully accepted. Thank you

  • Export Outlook Express XP into Outlook 2007 Windows 7

    I've searched the forum and it seems my need is a little different than the posts which have already been made. I have an old XP laptop which I was using Outlook Express for one of my mail accounts (a work account). I also ran regular Outlook for another (personal). I want to have both of these accounts on my new PC. My new PC is running Windows 7 wiht Office 2007. I used the Windows transfer cable and things worked failry well. My regular Outlook files all came over well, but nothing for Outlook Express. I really would like to take this time to somehow export my OE files into my Outlook 2007. I would really like to keep the account which imported in on Outlook seperate. Question 1: Is there a way to import my OE files into Outlook 2007? Question 2: Is there a way to have two seperate email accounts in Outlook without combining them? Basically I want to have a work email and a personal and keep them seperate. If I can't have two seperate emails with Outlook, can anyone suggest something which would allow me to export my old Outlook (the old personal emails) into another program so that I can at least use my work email on Outlook 2007? Hopefully this isn't too confusing.

    Prompted by the answers to this question I decided to give the Windows built in time synchronisation another go. However, no matter what time server I use I get this error: "An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with [name of time server]." The help suggests the following as reasons for failure: You are not connected to the Internet. Establish an Internet connection before you attempt to synchronize your clock. Your personal or network firewall prevents clock synchronization. Most corporate and organizational firewalls will block time synchronization, as do some personal firewalls. Home users should read the firewall documentation for information about unblocking network time protocol (NTP). You should be able to synchronize your clock if you switch to Windows Firewall. The Internet time server is too busy or is temporarily unavailable. If this is the case, try synchronizing your clock later, or update it manually by double-clicking the clock on the taskbar. You can also try using a different time server. The time shown on your computer is too different from the current time on the Internet time server. Internet time servers might not synchronize your clock if your computer's time is off by more than 15 hours. To synchronize the time properly, ensure that the date and time settings are set close to your current time in the Date and Time Properties in Control Panel. Now the first reason is clearly wrong - I am connected to the internet. I can see the 2nd being the most likely cause. I have Sygate Personal Firewall running, but it normally asks if something it trying to connect for the first time. Does anyone know I can unblock the NTP protocol - or at least check if it is blocked?. I don't think it's #3 or #4 as I've tried a number of different servers including the one currently used by Atomic Clock Sync. Though if someone knows the address of a UK time server I can double check this.

  • What is the quickest and safest way to test new software and revert all changes, if needed?

    I'm looking for Windows software that will allow me to quickly create a "checkpoint", do whatever I might need to do to my computer - install programs/drivers/updates, create/delete personal files, reboot the system multiple times, open questionable attachments - and then revert the entire system back to when the checkpoint was created. Essentially I want Windows Restore Points that save my personal files and partitions, too. It sounds like disk imaging might be the ticket, but creating them is much too slow and the restore process too involved... I'm hoping to sacrifice full disaster recovery for speed. Creating a checkpoint should be as close to one-click as possible, and rolling back should be a matter of selecting a restore point and rebooting. Ding! I'm familiar with Sandboxie, True Image Home "Try and Decide", Returnil, and a number of other "virtual system" apps that actively "catch" changes and allow you to commit or reject them. I'm not interested in these for a number of reasons - I prefer the "cut and dry" restore point approach. Finally, I'll note that I've just recently become aware of Comodo Time Machine. It sounds absolutely perfect, however, a quick skim through the user forums show more than a few horror stories of corrupted, unbootable systems. Any positive personal experience with the software to suppress my superstitions, or suggestions for more established alternatives would be greatly appreciated - Comodo Time Machine seems relatively new.   • Gmail won't forward mail sent to myself.

    I own a dedicated server with a domain, we'll say foobar.com. I use google apps to manage my email SMTP servers. Now I don't check two gmail inboxes. I have my own personal one, and then I have foobar.com's inbox from google apps. Naturally the easiest thing to do is just have all foobar's emails forwarded to my personal one. So then I am only checking 1 inbox. This is all fine and dandy. I use MSMTP that with a wrapper that uses /etc/aliases. I have it set so any mail attempting to go to root (Things from cron, etc) will go to [email protected]. So when google app's (foobar.com) gets an email from the email I have setup with it ([email protected]), it automatically doesn't forward the message. This is a "feature" to gmail/google apps I suppose. How do I get around it? workarounds? etc. I could just have my alias set to my personal email but I wanted a place to have all foobar related emails archived in one place (googleapps).

  • VPS to replace MobileMe or Google Apps.

    All, Yes, this has been touched on in other questions, but I can't find something similar enough. I currently have Google Apps hosting personal email, calendars, contacts, etc. I do like the other google services, but they're outside of Apps. One of the little google irritations that I have to maintain a separate account for Picassa, etc. So, I'm thinking about moving myself away from Google, but purely for personal, privacy type issues. Do I really like the ads, the email snooping, etc? I've had, and liked MobileMe, back when it was iTools, and then .Mac, but it doesn't offer that much really. How easily can I replicate it all on a VPS? I don't want to host it myself at home, I'd lose all the wonderful datacenter goodness. THis isn't about personal geekery in my own basement, just about taking a little control back from Google. So, email is fine running an IMAP server, a nice front-end, etc. What about Calendars and Contacts? And, how easily can it be setup to sync to the desktop and iPhone? Thanks.

  • Did Windows 7 Startup Repair trash My Documents?

    Earlier today, I rebooted my computer. Partway through the boot process, it shut down suddenly. When I tried again, I was prompted to run Startup Repair, and I did. Afterwards, my computer booted normally and everything seemed to be in order. Then I noticed that my My Documents folder contains a mix of old and new files. On closer inspection, it appears that Windows has reverted my system to a previous state. Two things puzzle me: 1) According to Microsoft, "System Restore does not affect personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos [...]", yet many of my personal files have been affected. 2) Why were some things reverted, but not others? I had recently reorganized a bunch of files in My Documents. The reverted directory structure seems to be a hybrid of old a new, with a lot of new stuff missing. It's hard to say for sure, but it looks like the stuff that's missing would have been in conflict (two folders with the same name, for example), and Windows favored the old stuff. Is this normal behavior for Startup Repair/System Restore? To modify personal files, I mean? Is there a pattern to the mess it's made of My Documents?

  • Logic inside an enum

    My colleagues and I were having a discussion regarding logic in enums. My personal preference is to not have any sort of logic in Java enums (although Java provides the ability to do that). The discussion in this cased centered around having a convenience method inside the enum that returned a map: public enum PackageTypes { Letter("01", "Letter"), .. .. Tube("02", "Packaging Tube"); private String packageCode; private String packageDescription; .. .. public static Map<String, String> toMap() { Map<String, String> map = new LinkedHashMap<String, String>(); for(PackageType packageType : PackageType.values()) { map.put(packageType.getPackageCode(), packageType.getPackageDescription()); } return map; } } My personal preference is to pull this out into a service. The argument for having the method inside the enum centered around convenience. The idea was that you don't have to go to a service to get it, but can query the enum directly. My argument centered around separation of concern and abstracting any kind of logic out to a service. I didn't think "convenience" was a strong argument to put this method inside an enum. From a best-practices perspective, which one is better? Or does it simply come down to a matter of personal preference and code style?

    I'm in the processes of internationalizing an iPhone app - I need to make programmatic changes to certain views based on what the user's current locale is. I'm going nuts because no matter what the language preference on the iPhone simulator or actual hardware are, locale always evaluates to "en_US": NSString *locale = [[NSLocale currentLocale] localeIdentifier]; NSLog(@"current locale: %@", locale); The crazy thing is that the rest of the application behaves as expected. The correct strings are selected from the Localization.strings file and used in the interface, and the correct .xib files for the selected locale are used. I have also tried the following, to no avail and with the same result: NSString *locale = [[NSLocale autoupdatingCurrentLocale] localeIdentifier]; NSLog(@"current locale: %@", locale); Is there something simple I'm missing? A preference or an import perhaps?     Problem : We have equal number of men and women.each men has a preference score toward each woman. So do the woman for each man. each of the men and women have certain interests. Based on the interest we calculate the preference scores. So initially we have an input in a file having x columns. First column is the person(men/woman) id. id are nothing but 0.. n numbers.(first half are men and next half woman) the remaining x-1 columns will have the interests. these are integers too. now using this n by x-1 matrix... we have come up with a n by n/2 matrix. the new matrix has all men and woman as their rows and scores for opposite sex in columns. We have to sort the scores in descending order, also we need to know the id of person related to the scores after sorting. So here i wanted to use hash table. once we get the scores we need to make up pairs.. for which we need to follow some rules. My trouble is with the second matrix of n by n/2 that needs to give information of which man/woman has how much preference on a woman/man. I need these scores sorted so that i know who is the first preferred woman/man, 2nd preferred and so on for a man/woman. I hope to get good suggestions on the data structures i use..   • How to use NTFS-3G installed using MacPort?

    After upgrading to Lion I'm having problem mounting NTFS drives in read/write mode. This is because NTFS-3G distributed by http://www.tuxera.com does not work with Lion. As far their suggestion I installed NTFS-3G using MacPort. But as far as I can see it does not come with the usual preference pane. Its not enabled by default. Do anyone know how to enable it? Or how to have the Preference Pane for the NTFS-3G from MacPorts.
