  • Can I Select and Update at the same time?

    This is an over-simplified explanation of what I'm working on. I have a table with status column. Multiple instances of the application will pull the contents of the first row with a status of NEW, update the status to WORKING and then go to work on the contents. It's easy enough to do this with two database calls; first the SELECT then the UPDATE. But I want to do it all in one call so that another instance of the application doesn't pull the same row. Sort of like a SELECT_AND_UPDATE thing. Is a stored procedure the best way to go?

I can use the lib fine from the command line, but how can I integrate it into my code so I can take multiple screenshots simultaneously?   • How do I execute an action in drupal after each time a node is saved?

    I'm developing an Action in Drupal which is supposed to activate after saving a node, exporting content to XML (which includes data from the node that was just saved), using the "Trigger: After saving an updated post" trigger. Unfortunately this action actually happens right before the information from the recently saved post is saved to the database. ie. when looking at the XML later, I find that the most recent change I made was not included. Saving after editing a different node will restore the previously missing data. How can I get my action to fire after the saving process is complete?

    In my application i configured more than one datasource (for diff databases). Whenever user sends a request depends upon user category i need to look up for the respective datasource in the context and get a connection from that datasource to execute queries which are assigned to that user.     With reflection, you can look up a class from a string at run time, but you can also say typeof(Foo) and get compile time type checking, auto completion etc. If what you want is a field not a class, you can look it up from a string at runtime, but if you want compile time type checking etc., is there anyway to say something like fieldof(Foo.Bar)? I know the name of both the class and the field in advance, and I want to be able to refer to the field at compile time rather than with a run-time string lookup.

    You know how this $(function() { ... }); will fire whether or not the "document ready" event has already occurred? I want to define an event like that. That event is a special case in jQuery. I'm wondering if a custom event can behave in the same way, using only the standard event mechanisms. Ideally, I'd like to be able to define handlers in the "normal" way: $(document).on("init.mything", function() { ... }); This works now if the above runs before init.mything is triggered. But if it doesn't, then the handler never runs. What makes this tricky is, I don't want to assume anything except that jQuery has loaded. Any ideas?
