  • Ant + JUnit: NoClassDefFoundError

    Ok, I'm frustrated! I've hunted around for a good number of hours and am still stumped. Environment: WinXP, Eclipse Galileo 3.5 (straight install - no extra plugins). So, I have a simple JUnit test. It runs fine from it's internal Eclipse JUnit run configuration. This class has no dependencies on anything. To narrow this problem down as much as possible it simply contains: @Test public void testX() { assertEquals("1", new Integer(1).toString()); } No sweat so far. Now I want to take the super advanced step of running this test case from within Ant (the final goal is to integrate with Hudson).   • Softpedia published some of my open source projects — how to react?

    (FYI: I've just moved this question over from Stackoverflow on recommendation.) I just received a few emails, informing me that softpedia.com has added some of my "products" to their "database of scripts, code snippets and web applications". My products are in this case some smaller open source projects, which I have hosted and published on github. Now I'm wondering how to react to this. This site is indirectly making money of my free work through ads on three pages before the actual download. They also seem to "invent" version numbers and I can't find out if they're hosting the latest or all versions of my projects. — I can see how this could lead to problems in the future, since I don't control what's "the latest" everywhere. On the other hand I don't mind some extra publicity. I want as many people as possible to know about the projects, use them, fork them and hopefully improve them. The projects in questions are really fairly small, but this might not be the case in the future for me and/or other people reading this question. I'm sure that this must have happened to others around here. What's your opinion? Should I try to get the downloads removed? Update 1 I've requested the removal and mentioned that I don't feel that Softpedia can provide the right environment for this kind of project. Their team got back to me instantly with a friendly email saying, that they'll remove the links for now: If you are worried that your projects won't be updated, then I must tell you that I have them bookmarked in my RSS reader, so any version changes will be forwarded to me when needed. So I promise I'll keep your script up to date as soon as I see an update in the repository. I have to say, that I appreciate this kind of reaction quite a lot and so I sent them another email, describing in more detail what I'm worried about and what bothers me. I also stated, that I'm aware that my license clearly permits them to host the projects in any case, but that I'd be even happy if they would host the projects as long as they could convince me of a few details and maybe make some small changes to the way the projects are represented. — Let's see where this goes. Update 2 After discussing with their contact and requesting some changes regarding display of version (they had given the possibility to do so) and authorship they put the projects back up on their site. All in all a positive and definitely interesting experience.

  • Log Debug Messages without Debug Serial on Shipped Device

    Debug message is one of the ancient but useful way for problem resolving. Message is redirected to PB if KITL is enabled otherwise it goes to default debug port, usually a serial port on most of the platform but it really depends on how OEMWriteDebugString and OEMWriteDebugByte are implemented. For many reasons, we don't want to have a debug serial port, for example, we don't have enough spare serial ports and it can affect the performance. So some of the BSP designers decide to dump the messages into other media, could be a log file, shared memory or any solution that is suitable for the need. In CE 5.0 and previous, OAL and Kernel are linked into one binaries; in the other word, you can use whatever function in kernel, such as SC_CreateFileW to access filesystem in OAL, even this is strongly not recommended. But since the OAL is being a standalone executable in CE 6.0, we no longer can use this back door but only interface exported in NKGlobal which just provides enough for OAL but no more. Accessing filesystem or using sync object to communicate to other drivers or application is even not an option. Sounds like the kernel lock itself up; of course, OAL is in kernel space, you can still do whatever you want to hack into kernel, but once again, it is not only make it a dirty solution but also fragile. So isn't there an elegant solution? Let's see how a debug message print out. In private\winceos\COREOS\nk\kernel\printf.c, the OutputDebugStringW is the one for pumping out the messages; most of the code is for error handling and serialization but what really interesting is the following code piece     if (g_cInterruptsOff) {         OEMWriteDebugString ((unsigned short *)str);     } else {         g_pNKGlobal->pfnWriteDebugString ((unsigned short *)str);     }     CELOG_OutputDebugString(dwActvProcId, dwCurThId, str); It outputs the message to default debug output (is redirected to KITL when available) or OAL when needed but note that highlight part, it also invokes CELOG_OutputDebugString. Follow the thread to private\winceos\COREOS\nk\logger\CeLogInstrumentation.c, this function dump whatever input to CELOG. So whatever the debug message is we always got a clone in CELOG. General speaking, all of the debug message is logged to CELOG already, so what you need to do is using celogflush.exe with CELZONE_DEBUG zone, and then viewing the data using the by Readlog tool.     I know little about networking the Internet, but, from what I understand, it works — very approximately — as follows: I, sitting at the computer example.com, send a message saying, roughly, "get http://s.tk" to my ISP, which passes the message along, eventually to the machine at s.tk. The s.tk machine gets "example.comhas sent 'gethttp://s.tk'", so sendssomefileto its ISP which passes the file along, eventually to the machine atexample.com`. When the file gets back to example.com, my computer, how does my computer know what to do with it? I'm sure the headers (or something else) indicate it's a Web page rather than, say, a Usenet post — that's not my question. My question is: how does it know whether to display the Web page in my open Opera window or my open Firefox window, or my other open Firefox window, or, heck, to open a new browser instance?

  • Since upgrading to Windows 8.1, I can't open any files on a SMB share shared by my OS X Mavericks Mac

    I have a PC with Windows 8.1 and a Mac with Mavericks. I have a folder on the Mac that is shared with the PC. When I'm on the PC and I try to open a file that is shared by the Mac, such as an ISO file (a disk image), then I get a message saying that I cannot open the file, or the file is in use (it depends on the app/filetype). I have the same problem when I open a video file. Strangely, text files and PDF files are just fine. And if I copy any of the problematic files to the local Windows disk, then I can open them just fine. The specific error messages are: AVI files opened in VLC: "Your input can't be opened. VLC is unable to open the MRL." ISO files opened by Windows Explorer: "Sorry, there was a problem mounting the file." This only started happening after I upgraded to Windows 8.1 on the PC and Mavericks on the Mac. Mavericks upgraded its SMB version from SMB1 to SMB2, so perhaps that is related? Does anyone know what the problem might be, and how I could fix it? Thanks in advance!

    After running chkdsk C: /F /R and finding out that my hard disk has 24 KB in bad sectors (log is posted below), I decided to run Windows 7's System File Checker utility (sfc /scannow). SFC showed the ff. message after I ran it: "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log." Since the CBS.log file is too large, I ran findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt" (as per Microsoft's KB 928228 article) to only get the log text pertaining to the corrupt files. (log is also posted below) How do I troubleshoot and repair the corrupted files mentioned by sfc /scannow?     I hate it, when sites decide for me, which links should open in a new window, and which in the same. The back-button doesn't work. Good thing is, firefox has the option browser.link.open_newwindow. If I set this to 1, all links with target=blank open in the same window, as it should be. But now also clicks in external programs (like the email-client or newsreader) on links open this in the same window, destroying the already opened website. How can I configure firefox to open links in a website always in the same window, but in external programs opened URLs always in a new one?

    I tried various way to fix this problem but ended up with a dead end. My problem would be the missing "Open With" context menu items (or subitems?). It did not appear even though I hovered it for a minutes or two. Below is a screenshot of the respective right-click menu. Note: The only problem with "Open With" is at the right-click menu (as well as FILE menu). Edited: The "Open With" context submenu that only accessible at the top, while the typical right click menu doesn't work. Repaste from Comment. I don't think it's involved with any windows files because other user in the same computer doesn't affected at all. I can see the "Open With" context submenu. I believe this must have involved with current user's registry. It happens to all files (any file types, except folder).     i've got ubuntu installed with lamp. im using webdav to upload/download files to/from the ubuntu web server, after i have edited the php source files in netbeans. however, i wonder what is best practice for editing source files and committing these changes to the new website. cause if we are 2-3 developers, i guess we have to use svn. but i have never used it before so i wonder how it works. should i install it and then select the /var/www (apaches webroot) as the repository folder? then when i check in, all the changes will apply immediately? could someone please explain following steps: how to download, edit the source files, upload the files and see the new changes in the website. cause i have only worked with a local apache before, and it was only me. now there will be some more programmers so i have to set up a decent, central environment for this, and have to know how netbeans, svn, webdav and apache works all together. thanks!

Similar to how most text editor programs are set up -- so when you open up the program again all your last stayed-open files are there. Also, does anyone know what the terminology for this saving-behavior is? State-saving? Googling to find the answer is difficult within the sea of Illustrator 'saving files' questions.

    On Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, I can know currently open ports on the Windows Firewall using the following command: netsh firewall show state However, on Windows 7 and Hyper-V Server 2008 R2, when I give that command, it says: No ports are currently open on all network interfaces. IMPORTANT: Command executed successfully. However, "netsh firewall" is deprecated; use "netsh advfirewall firewall" instead. Apparently there are ports open because services such as NetBIOS NS, Remote Desktop, and Hyper-V remote administration are functioning. I tried a few 'netsh advfirewall' show commands, but didn't get a way to find out which ports are permit by Windows Firewall. Knowing the currently open ports, I can be sure that I'm permitting necessary and sufficient traffic to pass in, no more, no less. Going through the whole set of advanced firewall rules is so tedious and error-prone. Is there a command on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 to do this efficiently?

  • Windows Photo Viewer can't open this picture because you don't have the correct permissions to access the file location

    My system in Windows 7 and fully up to date with all patches and options (except for Microsoft Silverlight, which I refuse to install). I get this error whenever I try to open an image using Windows Photo Viewer, such as when previewing from Explorer or when opening an image attachment to an email. I have already verified correct permissions to the file and all folders in the path. The strange thing is that every other program I have seems to open the images fine, including "Slideshow" from Windows Explorer. Even more strange, in WPV there is an "Open" menu that lists the other programs for images including GIMP and MS Paint and they open the very file that WPV is complaining about just fine. That should eliminate permissions as being the problem, especially since (logically at least) they are read/write while WPV is read-only. I have even edited and saved the images that WPV does not open. I am out of ideas, and searching for answer on the Web has resulted only in the same tired repitition of some flavor of "take ownership and reset permissions for the entire drive", which I have already done. And which is counter-indicated by the fact that only Windows Photo Viewer seems to have a problem. The one thing which is slightly unusual is that for normal files they are all on a second HDD mounted into C:, however for email attachments the temporary folder is C:\Temp\, which is directly on that drive.

    I want to edit some .avi videos (cut them, to be precise) in VirtualDub but it failed to open the files. They are encoded in xvid, which I have installed, and play in KMPlayer without problem. Also, all other xvid videos can be opened and cut just fine by VirtualDub. I suspect there's something wrong in the first few bytes of these particular videos (the magic number?). This means I have to open the offending files in a hex editor and make some necessary adjustments to the header. Problem is, they are very large ( 3 GB each) and take very long time to open in UltraEdit. Can UltraEdit open just the first few bytes of a file? If not, do you know of an application that can do that? Edit: I'm using Windows XP.

  • How to stop iPhone's safari browser from silently dropping tabs when you open a 9th tab?

    Currently in the iPhone safari mobile browser, if you have 8 tabs open and open a new tab, the new tab opens as requested, but one of the existing tabs is silently discarded. Is there any known way to change this behaviour, e.g. to prompt me first and allow me to choose which tab to close, or to open the 9th tab, or to at least have visibility of what tab was closed? When I open something in a new tab it's because I want to come back to the previous tab later, so this conflicts with the way I usually browse the web. My current workaround is to manually monitor the tab count -- i.e. to check that the count is 7 or less before opening a new tab.

  • How can I open a shared sub calendar in Outlook 2010?

    There is a team in my office that has a shared calendar (the team calendar is set up as a user in Active Directory/Exchange, so treat the team as a user). The team also has 3 sub-calendars for the different team members. Other people in the office need to be able to access this team's calendar. They can go to Open Calendar in Outlook and see the main calendar, but they cannot see the sub-calendars. The sub-calendars all have the Default user permissions set to Reviewer. If you go to File → Account Settings → Change [logged in Exchange account] → More Settings → Advanced and add the team's mailbox, it does show the calendars in Outlook, but it comes up under My Calendars instead of Shared Calendars. We need to be able to go to Open Calendar and open the calendar and open all the sub-calendars this way. How is this possible?

To go one step further, would to be able to somehow make the context menu item only show up on File that are under this folder.... ``E:\Server\htdocs` but this is far less important.

  • Odd one: IE6 showing the "view source" command enabled when I was expecting it to be disabled.

    Hi, OK, I admit this problem is odd. I'm just trying to understand why IE is behaving the way it is. I realise that logic may not apply here :) I have Internet Explorer 6 (Sp1) running on Windows 2000. The IE option "Do not store encrypted pages to disk" is checked (enabled). The temporary internet files folder is empty. TEMP and TMP environment variables are set to valid folders. I'm connected to a web server over SSL. The web server is serving a page over SSL with the HTTP cache-control header set to "no-cache, no-store". I was expecting the "view source" command to be greyed out in this circumstance (as it is on another machine). But it works. When I "view source", I get an entry in the Temporary Internet Files folder with an "internet address" property of "view-source:https://myserver/...." and the content of the page. I wasn't expecting that. I can't understand why one machine is different to another in this regard. Obviously there is some environment/setup difference, but I can't track it down. Anyone have any bright ideas?
