What setting needs to be made to make .Net Automation responsive?

Have an app that is looking for application windows being created on the desktop using class Unresponsive { private StructureChangedEventHandler m_UIAeventHandler = new StructureChangedEventHandler(OnStructureChanged); public Unresponsive() { Automation.AddStructureChangedEventHandler(AutomationElement.RootElement, TreeScope.Children, m_UIAeventHandler); } private void OnStructureChanged(object sender, StructureChangedEventArgs e) { Debug.WriteLine("Change event"); } } You can see the same issue using UISpy.exe, selecting the desktop and configuring scope for children and just the structure changed event. The problem I'm trying to resolve is that the events are not raised in a timely manner, there seems to be some grouping/delay which makes the app appear to be non responsive. If you start a new app with 1 window and wait a second you get the event, seems alright. If you start the same app several times without delay (say clicking on quickstart), it's not until all of the instances of the app get 'initialised' by the AutomationProxies that you get the notice for the first app (and in short order the other apps/windows). I've sat watching task manager as each instance of the app starts to grow as it is initialised, waiting until the last app is done and then seeing the events all come in. Similarly any time any apps are starting windows within a timeframe there seems to be some blocking. I can't see how to configure this timeframe, or get each structure changed event to be sent on as soon as it happens. Also, this process of listening for structure changed events seems to be leaking, just by listening there is a leak in native memory. (visible in UISpy and my app)

How to use associated Model as datasource for DataView

I have a Model structure as shown below and I want to know how to use the Bookings array as the datasource of my DataView. Model Structure: Client ClientId Name Bookings (HasManyAssociation) Contacts (HasManyAssociation) AjaxProxy JsonReader (ImplicitIncludes is set to true so child models are created with one call) Booking BookingNodeId BookingDetails Contact ContactNodeId ContactDetails The above gives me a data structure as follows: Client Bookings[ Booking Booking ] Contacts[ Contact Contact ] What I want to be able to do is either, create a Store from my Bookings array and then use that store as the datasource for my DataView OR directly use the Bookings array as the datasource (I don't really care how I do it to be honest). If I setup the AjaxProxy on my Booking model it works fine but then obviously I cannot automatically create my Client and Contacts when I load my JSON. It seems to me to make sense that the Client model, being the top level model hierarchically, is the one to load the data. EDIT: I figured it out as follows (with special thanks to handet87 below for his dataview.setStore() pointer). The key in this case is to know that creating the relationship actually sets up another store called, in this case BookingsStore and ContactsStore. I have this php code below for displaying the post from the specific categories. <ul id="sliderx"> <?php query_posts('category_name=slideshow&showposts=10'); while (have_posts()) : the_post(); echo "<li>".the_content()."</li>"; endwhile;?> </ul> as you can see, it display those post in the category slideshow and the structure of that should be this. <ul id="sliderx"> <li>the post 1</li> <li>the post 2</li> <li>the post 3</li> </ul> but the output that is generated is this. <ul id="sliderx"> <p>three</p> <li></li><p>two</p> <li></li><p>one</p> <li></li> </ul> and the generated structure should not look like that and it looks nasty at all, so im having a problem on this on how to display it properly like to display into this structure. <ul id="sliderx"> <li>the post 1</li> <li>the post 2</li> <li>the post 3</li> </ul> So Im wondering if there's someone who could tell me how to fix this. Im open into any suggestions, recommendations and suggestions. Thank you.

Users Hierarchy Logic

Hi guys, I am writing a user security module using SQLServer 2008 so threfore need to design a database accordingly. Formally I had Userinfo table with UserID, Username and ParentID to build a recursion and populated tree to represent hierarchy but now I have following criteria which I need to develop. I have now USERS, ADMINISTRATORS and GROUPS. Each node in the user hierarchy is either a user, administrator or group. User Someone who has login access to my application Administrator A user who may also manage all their child user accounts (and their children etc) This may include creating new users and assigning permissions to those users. There is no limit to the number of administrators in user structure. The higher up in the hierarchy that I go administrators have more child accounts to manage which include other child administrators. Group A user account can be designated as a group. This will be an account which is used to group one or more users together so that they can be manage as a unit. But no one can login to my application using a group account. This is how I want to create structure Super Administrator administrator ------------------------------------------------------------- | | | Manager A Manager B Manager C (adminstrator) (administrator) (administrator) | ----------------------------------------- | | | Employee A Employee B Sales Employees (User) (User) (Group) | ------------------------ | | | Emp C Emp D Emp E (User) (User) (User) Now how to build the table structure to achieve this. Do I need to create Users table alongwith Group table or what? Please guide I would really appreciate.

What are the database abstractions/adapters you are using in Ruby? I am mainly interested in data oriented features, not in those with object mapping (like active record or data mapper). I am currently using Sequel. Are there any other options? I am mostly interested in: simple, clean and non-ambiguous API data selection (obviously), filtering and aggregation raw value selection without field mapping: SELECT col1, col2, col3 = [val1, val2, val3] not hash of { :col1 = val1 ...} API takes into account table schemas 'some_schema.some_table' in a consistent (and working) way; also reflection for this (get schema from table) database reflection: get list of table columns, their database storage types and perhaps adaptor's abstracted types table creation, deletion be able to work with other tables (insert, update) in a loop enumerating selection from another table without requiring to fetch all records from table being enumerated Purpose is to manipulate data with unknown structure at the time of writing code, which is the opposite to object mapping where structure or most of the structure is usually well known. I do not need the object mapping overhead. What are the options, including back-ends for object-mapping libraries?

My first MVVM application architecture setup

Ok, time is coming for my first WPF project :). I work before with Flex and PureMVC and I know how project setup is important in RIA's. I decided to work with MVVM. And decided to work with PRISM framework. Application is somethin like operating system. There will be 'shell' (parent for smaller applications). Smaller application I plan to make like modules. So I plan to design structure of project something like this. Module_A {view, viewModel, model, assets} // for example calculator Module_B {view, viewModel, model, assets} // notebook etc I read prism doc and I see that parrent for all this modules should be shell project, and this is my main question here. Parrent_Project {App.xaml, Bootstrapper.cs, Shell.xaml} Because this shell will be fullscreen with background images (like operating system), right click with some features. Is that ok to create folder structure like in modulesXYZ for Shell.xaml here? I want to start project with good structure so any advice is welcome. Thanks

java: libraries for immutable functional-style data structures

This is very similar to another question (Functional Data Structures in Java) but the answers there are not particularly useful. I need to use immutable versions of the standard Java collections (e.g. HashMap / TreeMap / ArrayList / LinkedList / HashSet / TreeSet). By "immutable" I mean immutable in the functional sense (e.g. purely functional data structures), where updating operations on the data structure do not change the original data, but instead return a new instance of the same kind of data structure. Also typically new and old instances of the data structure will share immutable data to be efficient in time and space. From what I can tell my options include: Functional Java Scala Clojure but I'm not sure whether any of these are particularly appealing to me. I have a few requirements/desirements: the collections in question should be usable directly in Java (with the appropriate libraries in the classpath). FJ would work for me; I'm not sure if I can use Scala's or Clojure's data structures in Java w/o having to use the compilers/interpreters from those languages and w/o having to write Scala or Clojure code. Core operations on lists/maps/sets should be possible w/o having to create function objects with confusing syntaxes (FJ looks slightly iffy) They should be efficient in time and space. I'm looking for a library which ideally has done some performance testing. FJ's TreeMap is based on a red-black tree, not sure how that rates. Documentation / tutorials should be good enough so someone can get started quickly using the data structures. FJ fails on that front. Any suggestions?

How to exclude tags folder from triggering build in Teamcity?

Hello, I recently installed Teamcity 5.0.3. I am trying to setup automated build for a .NET 2.0 VS2005 project. I use NAnt and MSBuild task to perform the build. The project structure is a typical SVN structure svn://localhost/ITools is my repository and the project structure is VisualTrack trunk branches tags I created a new project in Teamcity and then created a build configuration for that project. I asked it to kick off a build everytime there is a change detected in SVN VisualTrack VCS. I also configured it to create a label in VisualTrack/tags for every successful build. The problem I am running into is that the build is getting trigerred everytime teamcity is creating a new label under tags. I only want the build to be triggered if some developer commits his or her changes into trunk. Next step I took was to create a build trigger rule to exclude the tags path by specifying a trigger pattern as -:VisualTrack/tags/**, but looks like its not working. I believe the pattern I specified is not correct. Can someone please help me resolve this issue? Thanks, Jaya.

XML jquery shortcuts

I am writing a bit of code that appends my site nav with and extra ul that gives a description about where that link takes you. I need to use our CMS's built in Nav structure so appending via jQuery was the best solution, and XML makes the data easier to manage. My question is this: is there a more efficient way to write out the js? Tree-like queues

I'm implementing a interpreter-like project for which I need a strange little scheduling queue. Since I'd like to try and avoid wheel-reinvention I was hoping someone could give me references to a similar structure or existing work. I know I can simply instantiate multiple queues as I go along, I'm just looking for some perspective by other people who might have better ideas than me ;) I envision that it might work something like this: The structure is a tree with a single root. You get a kind of "insert_iterator" to the root and then push elements onto it (e.g. a and b in the example below). However, at any point you can also split the iterator into multiple iterators, effectively creating branches. The branches cannot merge into a single queue again, but you can start popping elements from the front of the queue (again, using a kind of "visitor_iterator") until empty branches can be discarded (at your discretion). x -> y -> z a -> b -> { g -> h -> i -> j } f -> b Any ideas? Seems like a relatively simple structure to implement myself using a pool of circular buffers but I'm following the "think first, code later" strategy :) Thanks

Hello, I'm learning to use LINQ. I have seen some videos online that have really impressed me. In an effort to learn LINQ myself, I decided to try to write a query to the NOAA web service. If you put "http://www.weather.gov/forecasts/xml/sample_products/browser_interface/ndfdBrowserClientByDay.php?zipCodeList=20001&format=24+hourly&startDate=2010-06-10&numDays=5" in your browser's address bar, you will see some XML. I have successfully retrieved that XML in a C# program. I am loading the XML into a LINQable entity by doing the following: string xml = QueryWeatherService(); XDocument weather = XDocument.Parse(xml); I have a class called DailyForecast defined as follows: public class DailyForecast { public float HighTemperature { get; set; } public float LowTemperature { get; set; } public float PrecipitationPossibility { get; set; } public string WeatherSummary { get; set; } } I'm trying write a LINQ query that adheres to the structure of my DailyForecast class. At this time, I've only gotten to this far: var results = from day in response.Descendants("parameters") select day; Not very far I know. Because of the structure of the XML returned, I'm not sure it is possible to solely use a LINQ query. I think the only way to do this is via a loop and traverse the XML. I'm seeking someone to correct me if I'm wrong. Can someone please tell me if I can get results using purely LINQ that adhere to the structure of the DailyForecast class? If so, how? Thank you!

Function calculating the probability of a letter in an sentence

I have a function that is supposed to calculate the number of times a letter occurs in a sentence, and based on that, calculate the probability of it occurring in the sentence. To accomplish this, I have a sentence: The Washington Metropolitan Area is the most educated and affluent metropolitan area in the United States. An array of structures, containing the letter, the number of times it occurs, and the probability of it occurring, with one structure for each letter character and an additional structure for punctuation and spaces: struct letters { char letter; int occur; double prob; }box[53]; This is the function itself: void probability(letters box[53], int sum { cout<<sum<<endl<<endl; for(int c8=0;c8<26;c8++) { box[c8].prob = (box[c8].occur/sum); cout<<box[c8].letter<<endl; cout<<box[c8].occur<<endl; cout<<box[c8].prob<<endl<<endl; } } It correctly identifies that there are 90 letters in the sentence in the first line, prints out the uppercase letter as per the structure in the second line of the for loop, and prints out the number of times it occurs. It continually prints 0 for the probability. What am I doing wrong?

Extracting data form XML file with SimpleXML in PHP

Introduction: I want to loop through XML files with flexible categories structure. Problem: I don't know to loop through a theoretical infinte subcategories without having to make x amount of "for each" statements (See coding example in the bottom). How do I dynamically traverse the categories structure? .NET GDI+ image size - file codec limitations

Is there a limit on the size of image that can be encoded using the image file codecs available from .NET? I'm trying to encode images 4GB in size, but it simply does not work (or does not work properly i.e. writes out an unreadable file) with .bmp, .jpg, .png or the .tif encoders. When I lower the image size to < 2GB it does work with the .jpg but not the .bmp, .tif or .png. My next attempt would be to try libtiff because I know tiff files are meant for large images. What is a good file format for large images? or am I just hitting the file format limitations? Where to place interactive objects in JavaScript?

I'm creating a web based application (i.e. JavaScript with jQuery and lots of SVG) where the user interacts with "objects" on the screen (think of DIVs that can be draged around, resized and connected by arraows - like a vector drawing programm or a graphical programming language). As each "object" contains individual information but is allways belonging to a "class" of elements it's obvious that this application should be programmed by using an OOP approach. But where do I store the "objects" best? Should I create a global structure ("registry") with all (JS native) objects and tell them "draw yourself on the DOM"? Or should I avoid such a structure and think of the (relevant) DOM nodes as my objects and attach the relevant data as .data() to them? The first approach is very MVC - but I guess the attachment of all the event handlers will be non trivial. The second approach will handle the events in a trivial way and it doesn't create a duplicate structure, but I guess the usual OO stuff (like methods) will be more complex. What do you recomend? I think the answer will be JavaScript and SVG specific as "usual" programming languages don't have such a highly organized output "canvas".

Type-safe generic data structures in plain-old C?

I have done far more C++ programming than "plain old C" programming. One thing I sorely miss when programming in plain C is type-safe generic data structures, which are provided in C++ via templates. For sake of concreteness, consider a generic singly linked list. In C++, it is a simple matter to define your own template class, and then instantiate it for the types you need. In C, I can think of a few ways of implementing a generic singly linked list: Write the linked list type(s) and supporting procedures once, using void pointers to go around the type system. Write preprocessor macros taking the necessary type names, etc, to generate a type-specific version of the data structure and supporting procedures. Use a more sophisticated, stand-alone tool to generate the code for the types you need. I don't like option 1, as it is subverts the type system, and would likely have worse performance than a specialized type-specific implementation. Using a uniform representation of the data structure for all types, and casting to/from void pointers, so far as I can see, necessitates an indirection that would be avoided by an implementation specialized for the element type. Option 2 doesn't require any extra tools, but it feels somewhat clunky, and could give bad compiler errors when used improperly. Option 3 could give better compiler error messages than option 2, as the specialized data structure code would reside in expanded form that could be opened in an editor and inspected by the programmer (as opposed to code generated by preprocessor macros). However, this option is the most heavyweight, a sort of "poor-man's templates". I have used this approach before, using a simple sed script to specialize a "templated" version of some C code. I would like to program my future "low-level" projects in C rather than C++, but have been frightened by the thought of rewriting common data structures for each specific type. What experience do people have with this issue? Are there good libraries of generic data structures and algorithms in C that do not go with Option 1 (i.e. casting to and from void pointers, which sacrifices type safety and adds a level of indirection)?

I was thinking of naive way of parsing the content and updating. Please comment if I am unclear in asking my doubt !

C++: Conceptual problem in designing an intepreter

I'm programming an interpreter for an experimental programming language (educational, fun,...) So far, everything went well (Tokenizer & Parser), but I'm getting a huge problem with some of the data structures in the part that actually runs the tokenized and parsed code. My programming language basically has only two types, int and string, and they are represented as C++ strings (std class) and ints Here is a short version of the data structure that I use to pass values around: enum DataType { Null, Int, String } class Symbol { public: string identifier; DataType type; string stringValue; int intValue; } I can't use union because string doesn't allow me to. This structure above is beginning to give me a headache. I have to scatter code like this everywhere in order to make it work, it is beginning to grow unmaintainable: if( mySymbol.type == Int ) { mySymbol.intValue = 1234; } else { mySymbol.stringValue = "abcde"; } I use the Symbol data structure for variables, return values for functions and general representation of values in the programming language. Is there any better way to solve this? I hope so!

Making a app show inside a GUI in Java

Hello. I have one problem I've been dealing with for this week. You see, I'm new to Java, so that's probably it... Anyways, I've started a project out of pure curiosity. I had it done in Java, but in plain CMD-style, which is not very pretty. It calls one of my ten programs, chosen by the user using "Case". Eg.: If you type 1, it will go to program 1. After you finish it, it goes back to selection until the user press 0. After that, I've been trying to make a GUI for it. I've been able to create the selector alone and make it respond to the numbers chosen. If you press 1 and click ok, it will tell you you've chosen program 1. I, however, have not been able to make it run the program. I've been trying to make the program show up in a jPanel, part of the main GUI. I failed miserably. The program runs in separate but I can't make them run together like the CMD one. How to restart fvwm2 from the command line?

For a very specific software application, we maintain a base of machines running fvwm 2.5. To update the menu structure, the fvwm2rc default config file is replaced during the update process performed by a package management system. To enable the new menu structure after an update, the user has to manually perform an action: Restart machine, re-login, restart fvwm. The preferred action is to choose "Window Manager Restart Fvwm2" since no login is needed then and even the windows survive. Question: How can I invoke an equivalent action as "Restart Fvwm2" from the command line or the package management system? The following command does not work (neither do similar ones): fvwm -c "Restart" [FVWM][SetupICCCM2]: <<ERROR>> another ICCCM 2.0 compliant WM is running, try -replace "-replace" is no option since one needs to log in again after calling it.

mod perl in apache 2.2 not parsing perl scripts

Hi, I've set up a fresh Apache 2.2.15 server on windows server 2008 R2 with mod_perl (mod perl v2.0.4 / perl v5.10.1). Mod_perl and Perl 5.10 has been installed and loaded without problems. However, despite my configuration, the mod_perl module is failing to recognize and execute my .pl file, instead opting to print out the perl source instead. What did I do wrong, and how do I make perl process my pl script instead of sending it to the client?
