• Splitting android application in to two 'branches', free and paid.

  I've developed an android-application that I'dd like to put up on the marketplace. However, I want to split it into two separate applications, one free (with ads), and one paid (logically without ads). How would I go about doing that? I'm not wondering about adding ads (I've alreaddy managed that), but how to take one existing android-application (eclipse-project) and split it into two without having to create a new project and just copy-paste every file one by one (or in batch for that matter). Is that possible? Btw, I use GIT for SCM, so I've made two separate branches, one master and one free, but I need to set some cind of config-value that makes shure that the market separates them as two different applications. Also, when a user 'upgrades', is it possible to copy the db from the free app to the paid one?

• [cocoa] NSSearchField not working as expected

  Hi, I'm trying to follow Marcus Zarra in his book 'Core Data'. In the book, he makes a small sample application, but it doesn't give much help when things don't work out... He starts out by visually designing three entities, and then adding array controllers for each entity to the main nib. Second, he adds a tableview and some other visual components to show data from the array controllers. So far, I have managed to follow, but now he adds a search field to the gui, and binds it to the same array controller as one of the tableviews. Expected behavior would be for the tableview to get filtered when typing in the search field, but nothing happens. How do I find out what's wrong? The relevant parts from the nib is as follow: NSArrayController Recipes - Mode = Entity - Enitity Name = Recipe TableView w/TableColumn - Value Bind To Recipes -- Controller Key = arrangedObjects -- Model Key Path = name Search Field - Predicate Bind To Recipes -- Controller Key = filterPredicate -- Model Key Path = name -- Display name = predicate -- Predicate Format = keyPath contains $value There are no relevant messages in the console. regards, -Vegar

• Restore VisualSVN server from client copy.

  I am running VisualSVN on a windows VM box. The VM crashed and corrupted the image. After restoring an older image (2007) we discovered that our data backup is not functioning properly. Hence I have a bunch of projects (~20) siting on my laptop (client side) and I want to push them back into the VisualSVN Server, which is now empty. I know this can be done by simply adding the project files manually, but this is going to take along time because I don't want to include every file (i.e. complied files). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

• TTPhotoViewController: Images not loading until swipe

  Hi, I am trying to implement TTPhotoViewController in a sample iPad application. I have implemented properly TTPhotoSource and TTPhoto protocols. The TTPhotoViewController does show image, but not until swiped. The right and left button in the tab bar below doesnt seem to work at all, they never change the image displayed. The UIActivityIndicatorView is never put up, nor the right and left buttons are validated when last or first images are reached. I am initializing the subclass of TTPhotoViewController as a rootViewController of a UINavigationController object which I am adding it onto a view. • Firefox extension that overlays persistent iFrame?

  Is it possible to build a Firefox extension that displays a floating, persistent iFrame over the page content? I know it's possible to add iFrames using XUL. For instance, you can add an iFrame to a persistent sidebar. However, I want the iFrame to float over the page content, not cause the content to shrink. So far, my only option is to add the iFrame to the DOM, then use CSS "fixed" positioning to float the iFrame. The iFrame must also persist across page loads, exactly as the sidebar does. Adding an iFrame to the DOM, unfortunately, causes the iFrame to vanish when the browser renders a new page (e.g., after clicking a link). Any clues? Thanks!

• VS2010 add-in custom menu item in files of Solution Explorer

  Hey guys, I need to create a custom menu item for Visual Studio 2010 Add-in in C#, but I have had no luck in coming with a solution anytime soon. I am aware that there was a similar post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2486818/visual-studio-add-in-adding-a-context-menu-item-to-solution-explorer But it did not help, as the blog follows the process through the integration package, and the video is done through VB. I had attempted to convert the VB syntax to the C# syntax, but about half way through the video, the Add-in methods has significantly changed from 2005 to 2010, as some of the methods have removed or changed. Is there any good tutorials on making a custom menu item on the Solution Explorer in the lastest Visual Studio in C#, and is there a good website that could be used as a reference for looking over the VS add-in API? I've used Microsoft's main website, however it is confusing and wordy, which is difficult to understand and find the methods, properties, or commands that I am looking for. Any help would be appreicated, Thanks in advance.

  So, I have a table like below. Imagine there are multiple columns, I thought by formatting the <col/> tag I would be able to change the formatting of every <td> in that column. I want to give data in the first column a text-align:center, but it doesn't seem to work.   Hello I have a such model: Foo (models.Model): slug = models.SlugField(unique=True) image = models.ImageField(upload_to='uploads/') I want to do two things with this: First of all, I want my image to be forced to resize to a specific width and height after the upload. I have tried this reading the documentation but seems to getting error: image = models.ImageField(upload_to='uploads/', height_field=258, width_field=425) Secondly, when adding an item via admin panel, I want my image's file name to be renamed as same as slug, if any issue arises (like if such named image already exists, add "_" to the end as it used to do. IE: My slug is i-love-you-guys , uploaded image such have i-love-you-guys.png at the end.

• How to render Asian characters in a PDF using xhtmlrenderer

  I was wondering what steps were needed to render Asian characters using the java based xhtmlrenderer (flying saucer) library? I am wanting to render the following: <html> <body>????????</body> </html> Without any font settings being added to the HTML this renders fine in normal browsers, but I can't find anyway to render this to PDF using the iTextRenderer portion of xhtmlrenderer. After following various threads on the mailing list, I see lots of posts talking about adding .TTF files from the c:\windows\fonts directory, and I have modified the examples to run on linux ( https://gist.github.com/643173745182c9becc57 ), which shows me various fonts being displayed, but I don't see any Asian glyffs. Does anyone have any decent pointers, or clean solutions to this problem? Or am I looking at the wrong problem with a really simple solution elsewhere?

To be honest, I'm not even sure where to start on this one - never guessed it would be so much trouble to add a component right from the disk. • Date object to Calendar [Java]

  Hello World, I have a class Movie in it i have a start Date, a duration and a stop Date. Start and stop Date are Date Objects (private Date startDate ...) (It's an assignment so i cant change that) now i want to automatically calculate the stopDate by adding the duration (in min) to the startDate. By my knowledge working with the time manipulating functions of Date is deprecated hence bad practice but on the other side i see no way to convert the Date object to a calendar object in order to manipulate the time and reconvert it to a Date object. Is there a way? And if there is what would be best practice Thanks in advance Samuel

• Core Data performance deleteObject and save managed object context

  I am trying to figure out the best way to bulk delete objects inside of my Core Data database. I have some objects with a parent/child relationship. At times I need to "refresh" the parent object by clearing out all of the existing children objects and adding new ones to Core Data. The 'delete all' portion of this operation is where I am running into trouble. I accomplish this by looping through the children and calling deleteObject for each one. I have noticed that after the NSManagedObjectContext:Save call following all of the deleteObject calls is very slow when I am deleting 15,000 objects. How can I speed up this call? Are there things happening during the save operation that I can be aware of and avoid by setting parameters different or setting up my model another way? I've noticed that memory spikes during this operation as well. I really just want to "delete * from". Thanks.

Clicking root node, will invoke the data for populating the child nodes (basically adding child nodes on demand). Clicking child nodes will pull another collection add child nodes of child node. • Alternative to distributed caching

  Hi, There is a technical requirement to scale a new system easily. This new system consists of three tiered applications (as a batch processors). Each tier will contains at least 2 servers with the same application resides on each server. So, when one of the tier reaches peak performance, we could extend the scalability easily by adding a new server and the same application to off-load some of the processing loads. The problem is that one or two of the three tiers require heavy caching (about 3 million records and increasing). I'm thinking of using distributed caching system to overcome this problem but the new distributed caching system will means an additional point of failure as applications now need to interact with additional caching systems for processing. I'm currently looking at ncache but just wondering if there is an alternatives to this problem? or is there any other comparable distributed caching system that maybe similar or better than ncache and provide enterprise supports too?   My app design requires the same scrolling functionality found in the iPhone's native Photos app when browsing photos in full screen. Specifically: Each view snaps into place as the view is swiped Scrolling happens in only one direction Rotating the iPhone rotates the entire scrolling region as well such that the frame of each subview (photos, in Apple's case) rotates in-place and paging is still in the same direction (left-to-right) I started to use Apple's sample PageControl code as a launching point, and everything was going swimmingly until I attempted adding autorotation to the code. My sense from the docs was that all I had to do to get autorotation working was to add this to the sample code's MyViewController.m - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return YES; } While that does seem to cause the subviews' backgrounds to rotate, the UILabels and the enclosing UIScrollView stay fixed so that, from a user perspective, paging through the views now requires up/down flicking instead of left/right.

  I have dnn 5.2 running on my machine, and installed the blog module, the blog module is also reflected in the development environment i have. But i want to find out, how do i actually develope, or build the blog from source, so i can actually output the .dll file, instead of just running it. If i import the Blog project file from the folder, it will give me a host of error like .resx file not found and so on. Does any dotnetnuke expert out there know about this?And have encountered the problem before? If not, how do you actually make the module work so u can make changes to the module. Im talking about core logic change, like adding functions, not just skin or UI changes.

  Hi, First of all, I want to be clear that I'm not talking about defining a protocol, and that I understand the concept of @protocol someprotocol - (void)method; @end I know that the Obj-C runtime allows creation of classes at RUNTIME, as well as its ivars and methods. Also available for creation are SEL-s. I think I'm just missing something, but does anyone know what function to call to create a protocol at runtime? The main reason for this is for conformsToProtocol: to work, so just adding the appropriate methods doesn't really cut it.

• Building a directory tree from a list of file paths

  I am looking for a time efficient method to parse a list of files into a tree. There can be hundreds of millions of file paths. The brute force solution would be to split each path on occurrence of a directory separator, and traverse the tree adding in directory and file entries by doing string comparisons but this would be exceptionally slow. The input data is usually sorted alphabetically, so the list would be something like: C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Amarok\Afile C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Amarok\Afile2 C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Amarok\Afile3 C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Blender\alibrary.dll C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Blender\and_so_on.txt From this ordering my natural reaction is to partition the directory listings into groups... somehow... before doing the slow string comparisons. I'm really not sure. I would appreciate any ideas. Edit: It would be better if this tree were lazy loaded from the top down if possible.

However, the inc files may not exist on the server in all cases, so I need the application to fall back to the existing behavior (ignore the includes) if the files do not exist, rather than generating an error. I know that this can't be accomplished using if statements in the JScript code because of the way that SSI works, and have not come across any ways of dynamically including the code on the server side, where the files may not exist. Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this in classic ASP? Any help would be much appreciated.

  Is it possible to develop Silverlight apps to run on WinMo devices? I see all around searching on the web - in articles from 2008 and 2009 - that they were adding Silverlight support in WinMo 6.1, for example: Internet Explorer Mobile The new version of Internet Explorer Mobile adds the ability to easily view full-screen Web pages and multimedia on the Web with a smartphone. Microsoft's press release states the new version takes advantage of "Internet Explorer 6 technologies" and supports industry standards such as H.264, Adobe Flash and Microsoft Silverlight. The update will be available to mobile phone partners in the third quarter of 2008, with the first Windows Mobile phones using the new version expected to be available by the end of 2008. But I have found an SL app supposedly geared for mobile devices (as much as I hate weatherbug), but when i try going there in PIE on my WinMo 6.1 device, it shows me the little "get silverlight" image button, but clicking it doesn't do anything. So, what is the story? Is SL/WinMo development possible, or ?

• TableView as DetailView's subview with a UISplitViewController?

  I have a UISplitViewController, I used the iPad template to start. To change the type of view in the detailview area, I'm adding my view types as subviews to the DetailViewController's view. This works for UIViewController derived views, but not for UITableViewController view types?. Why would this be? My problem is rooted in the fact that the manufactured DetailView is the UISplitViewController's delegate. To get the correct popover behaviour, I'd like to keep it add buttons to its toolbar and then based on user selection open different details when master list selections are made. Thanks,

• Bing Maps - how to link to a push pin from a link outside the map

  I have a Virtual Earth Maps (Bing Maps??) to which I have added a set of pushpins. Each pushpin is labelled 1 to n. In addition to adding pushpins to the map, I also add text to the web-page that contains the description to each pushpin. I would like to add a link to the text outside the map, that when clicked will open the balloon associated with the corresponding pushpin. How do I open the balloon associated with a pushpin, through a link that exists outside the map? To get a better understanding, look at my map: link. When you click load, PushPins are added to the map. I would like to have a link from the list on the right of the map, that opens the corresponding PushPin. Thanks in advance!

• Building a list of favorites from Core Data

  I'm building an app with two tabs. The first tab has a main tableview that connects to a detail view of the row. The second tab will display a tableView based on the user adding content to it by tapping a button on the detail view. My question is this. What is the correct design pattern to do this? Do I create a second ManagedObjectContext/ManagedObjectContextID then save that context to a new persistent store or can the MOC be saved to the existing store without affecting the original tableview? I've looked at CoreData Recipes and CoreData Books and neither deal with multiple stores although books does deal with multiple MOC's. Any reference would be great.
