• Pick an image from the Gallery

  I have seen a lot of posts about this, and it seems like the code below should work. I have created an SD Card image and added it to the emulator (and that works fine). Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK); intent.setType("image/*"); //intent.setAction(Intent.ACTION_GET_CONTENT); startActivityForResult(intent, 1); It does launch and allow selection of images, but when I click on an image, everything exits and the emulator returns to the home screen, not the back to my app. My onActivityResult is never called either. What am I missing?

I am not able to understand how to place this big where condition (which contains a sub-query as well) in place of the "String selection" i.e. 3rd parameter of the method. Shall i simple write the entire where part(including the sub-query) as a string in the 3rd parameter or else there is some other better way for doing the same? Is there any way to receive some value from the activity that was launched by the browser like above? In other words I want do something like onActivityResult in the browser and get a value from the activity and set the value on the web page which has launched the activity.

• onPerformSync() is not triggered after ContentResolver.requestSync() call

  I am trying to implement sync adaptor, I have followed This guide. But onPerformSync() is not triggered after ContentResolver.requestSync() call . I have also tried some other tutorials and tried to run their code, but still same issue. Please tell me does I need to do some extra configuration for this. • OpenGL ES perspective projection

  I'm having a hard time understanding how glFrustum & gluPerspective work. I understand the concept of perspective projection but the functions aren't behaving how I expect them to. For example, if I set the frustum this way glFrustumf(0, 10, 0, 10, 1, 100) and have a rectangle at points 0, 0, 1, 0, 10, 1, 10, 10, 1, 10, 0, 1 then the rectangle is drawn with its left edge at -5 & right edge at 5, so the left half of the rectangle isn't visible. And if x is translated, I'd expect y to be too. But that doesn't happen either. In whatever examples I've seen, the coordinates for the projection matrix are taken as glFrustumf(-10, 10, -10, 10, 1, 100) but either way, whatever part is shown should be dependent on the rectangle's coordinates, right?

  I tested my Xamarin.Forms app on iOS and Android and found this difference when I change the orientation of the mobile device: On iOS, the app keeps the current page On Android, the app seems to restart using the default page (or probably pop all pages except the first one). Since I've never seen this behavior in another Android app, I'd like to disable it. Moreover, I don't think that this behavior is Android default. Which property do I need to set the make the Android target behave as the iOS target?

• Start all tab's activities for pre-cache

  I have a TabActivity with three tabs defined. The first tab is light-weight and renders in acceptable time. But the 2nd and 3rd tab, does need a couple of seconds to get visually rendered, after I click them. I would like to launch them, after I've loaded my first tab, in background for pre-cache. Once they are loaded, I can switch quickly between them. So I am wondering how can I launch the 2nd and 3rd tab. They are intents loaded in the view area.

• Getting screen height before first display?

Some of my users are saying the Droid has a taller screen height, and so I can probably add one or two more items to the ListView to take up the additional space provided. There is a code that takes some time to calculate, and because of this the list hangs out on scrolling and loads in slow (2-3sec). I have subclassed SimpleCursorAdapter, and using Filterable and SectionIndexer. I have in mind to show initially the name of the record, and put in a thread the calculation, and will show up later when it's done. How do I push back some work, and later update the listview to include the calculated data? This should show up on fly without user interaction.
