• Finder Sidebar Icons - How do I duplicate?

  I've noticed that some system directories, when dragged to the Finder's sidebar, utilize special small-scale icons not visible in any other place. Even when looking at one of these folders in a Finder window using the smallest possible icon size, these "special" icons don't appear (so it's not just the small version of the folder's icon). So my question is, where is this information stored? If I wanted to duplicate this behavior for an arbitrary folder, where would I need to look? I like to replace my home directory with a symlink to a location on another partition, but when I do this, I lose this sidebar icon behavior. I would love to get this back if I can.

• Tool to copy IMAP folders from one server to another

  I need a Unix-based tool, such as a shell script or command-line program, to copy IMAP folders from one server to another. Ideally, the tool should copy all the folders for a single account (Inbox, Sent, Trash, and user-created folders) at once, rather than one folder at a time. It should preserve message dates. As an option, I'd like to be able to copy just a single IMAP folder. Alternatively, is there a tool to copy an mbox file to an IMAP server? I have direct access to the mbox files in the filesystem, but not to the filesystem of the remote IMAP server. Edit: Is there a way for a user to migrate their own questions to Server Fault?

• Coldfusion deployment under Apache Tomcat with Virtual Hosts

  Hello, I'm looking for the proper way to share the Coldfusion engine for all my Virtual Hosts. This is how I have the virtual hosts configured on server.xml in the Tomcat conf: <Host name="localhost" appBase="webapps" unpackWARs="false" autoDeploy="true" xmlValidation="false" xmlNamespaceAware="false"> <Context path="" docBase="cfusion/" reloadable="true" privileged="true" antiResourceLocking="false" anitJARLocking="false" allowLinking="true"/> </Host> <Host name="mysite1" appBase="webapps" xmlValidation="false" xmlNamespaceAware="false"> <Context path="" docBase="/mnt/webroot/mysite1" /> </Host> This is not valid for me because I'm instantiating one Coldfusion process for every virtual host, and it requires me to copy the WEB-INF folder in every site. My question is, is there any way to share the same Coldfusion instance for every virtual host, mantaining the sites webroot outside of the cfusion folder? I'm using Apache Tomcat 6 and Coldfusion Enterprise edition 8. Many thanks.

• how to set up ubuntu LAMP stack /var/www similar to the xampp htdocs for http://localhost

  In xampp, all anyone has to do is to place a folder inside htdocs and http://localhost/folder_name will automatically work. If i set up a LAMP stack using sudo tasksel in ubuntu, how do i do it such that if i put a folder inside /var/www the same thing would happen as in localhost/folder_name would work? update sorry all, i have chosen to do things in a different way hence this question is no longer relevant to me.   Hi there We recently got a new Mac Mini Server with 10.6 Server on it. It has two 500GB volumes, one of which [Macintosh HD2 the extra one other than the boot disk] we are using to share our work files. I have added a user account for each user in the Users pane on Server Preferences, and all our staff (users added to the system) are added to a new group, called toolboxstaff. Now, when a user creates a new folder on this volume, folders are created with read-only access for everyone else besides the owner. How do I set it that when a user creates a folder, it creates it with RW access for the toolboxstaff group? Thanks in advance.

• Desktop icons disappears when Nautilus is launched, until next boot

  What happens: When I log in into my Ubuntu everything is normal, I have some icons on my desktop and I can see them at this point of time. As soon as I click on the explorer (nautilus) on the Launcher bar, everything goes (disappers) and never comes. No matter how many time you click on the launcher, you can't open nautilus. Additional Information: Another thing I have noticed that when I want to open the location of PDF file I am reading in document viewer (by clicking the folder icon). It gives error "Could not open the containing folder" and "Failed to execute child process "nautilus" (Permission denied)". Any idea?

  I am writing a BASH shell script to upload all the files in a directory to a remote server and then delete them. It'll run every few hours via a CRON job. My complete script is below. The SFTP command's exit status is always "0" regardless of whether the upload actually succeeded or not. Thanks Edit 1: I found what happened by searching for my documents on disk: somehow (mouse error?) the Desktop Folder was dragged and dropped or to another folder ... Now it appears that Desktop has changed it's default location... how to fix that??

• Keep programs from using My Documents

  Is there any way to keep programs from using the My Documents folder (on Windows 7)? Everything program seems to want to get in there. I know I could manually symlink each folder a program decides to create, but I would rather not have to do that for each program. Another alternative is to put my stuff in a different location than My Documents, but then I wonder why Microsoft named it 'My Documents' and not 'Applications: put all your stuff here'... probably because filenames cannot have colons on them, but still. I'll probably end up partitioning my drive as I have been doing before, but I was wondering if there was any way to fix this painful annoyance.

  Let's say I have a domain: www.mydomain.com And I ordered a new domain: abc.newdomain.com Both domains are hosted in the same ISP, so currently requests to either of those addresses result in the same page being shown. I want to redirect all requests to abc.newdomain.com to folder /wp so that when users access abc.newdomain.com they would see whatever is inside folder /wp without seeing the URL change. Questions: 1) How can I achieve this using .htaccess? 2) How can I prevent users from accessing directly /wp directory (meaning that www.mydomain.com/wp would be blocked)?

• What is controlling the desktop display?

  I have two Ubuntu systems and in the course of changing configurations something has become muddled. I have disabled Unity in favor of gnome shell, the older style display of the desktop. Then I installed xfce 4. Seemed everything would be working okay, and for the most part it does. Except I noticed that on one system there's something else controlling settings. On one, if I right click the desktop, I get the menu with the options: open in new window create launcher... create url link... create folder... create from template -> open terminal here paste desktop settings... properties... applications -> On system two, right clicking brings up the menu: Create new folder Create new document -> organize desktop by name keep aligned paste Change Desktop Background Additionally, even though I set the background with the xfce settings manager, on system two that background will appear for a few seconds before it's replaced by something that looks like a background from Ubuntu's original desktop. And it's being controlled by what comes up with the "change desktop background" when right clicking, which isn't the xfce settings manager. On the first system, that right click does bring up the xfce settings tool. In short, something is controlling/overriding the xfce settings on machine two, but I can't find what file or configuration tool is doing it. How can I get system two to behave as system one, giving control of settings and configuration of X to XFCE's tools?

  I am trying to install postgres on EC2 / EBS. I am following this article and stuck at the following step. sudo su - su postgres - /usr/pgsql-9.0/bin/initdb -D /pgdata I cant find the initdb command located at the stated location, matter of fact i cant find the pgsql* directory at all under /usr folder. Was this changed for Postgres 9.2 or is there an alternate command that would help me initdb? edit 1: I know the folder pgsql-9.0 is version specific, so i was expecting to see more like pgsql-9.2 or similar.

  I made a backup of one of my external drives to another. They are both NTFS filesystems. I moved ALL disk contents into a folder called a and right clicked to get file/folder/size count. They are exactly the same. However windows reports J having 1.33gb (backup) and Q: as 521mb. Now I think maybe its because of hardlinks, I must have more on J then Q. How might I figure out how many hardlinks I have in a drive?

The path of the saved image is returned to the client by setting the AjaxFileUploadEventArgs PostedUrl property. Not surprisingly, under the covers, the HtmlEditorExtender uses the AjaxFileUpload. Do I need to add something else in httpd.conf file (like Options +FollowSymLink) or something else? 2. Do I need to add something in apache2.conf file? 3. Do I need to move these rules to .htaccess file? If yes, what should I write in that file and where should I keep that file? in /etc/apache2/ folder or /var/www/ folder? 4. • Terminal issues on OS X with XAMPP and Yii framework

  I'm trying to configure the Yii framework but am having problems with the terminal commands, and am also having difficulty setting up the webapp demo. I am using Mac OS X Snow Leopard and have installed XAMPP and placed the 'yii' folder in the xamppfiles \ htdocs folder. I have verified the http://localhost/yii/requirements/index.php which is working fine. I have tried the following but nothing seems to work so if anyone can point out what I'm doing wrong it would be very much appreciated. • Can I be a wireless server WITHOUT offering internet?

  I would like to pull into a truck stop and offer a folder of free documentaries to quell some of the ignorance LOL I run Linux ";-) Very happy to have made that switch by the way...and have an internal wireless in the laptop but my bus has an antenna on the roof which I connect via usb to create a wireless signal (this is the one I'd like to focus on since it will offer the most reach to all those truckers out there. My question is this. I'm running apache2 and have a bunch of videos tossed into the www folder and can access it locally and would like others that frown on paying to use the truckstops slow internet service and would like an alternative by simply logging onto me and getting the narrow content I offer freely without passwords and the like. Has anyone a good means of doing this? p.s. I've done this in the past but am getting old and forgetful (my crutch)

• Windows security unknown accounts: security breach?

  I was uploading some images I had just created to imgur earlier today and noticed that chrome couldn't access my Pictures folder. Windows tells me access was denied. Firefox didn't have an issue though I went to it through windows explorer and it worked fine, and looked at the security tab under properties and noticed that there were four unknown accounts, one of which has full control privileges. I looked at my other folders in the same drive and none of them had these unknown accounts. It was only that specific Pictures folder, and all of its subfolders. What are these unknown accounts and what could it mean? Should I be worried that someone may have compromised the system (well, I should probably be worried about that all the time I guess) I read on microsoft support forums that it may be the result of a previously deleted account, but there has only been one account on this computer for months and no user account management has been performed for awhile.

• Can't make SELinux context types permanent with semanage

  I created a new folder at /modevasive to hold my mod_evasive scripts and for the Log Directory. I'm trying to change the context type to httpd_sys_content_t so Apache can write to the folder. I did semanage fcontext -a -t "httpd_sys_content_t" /modevasive to change the context and then restorecon -v /modevasive to enable the change, but restorecon didn't do anything. So I used chcon to change it manually, did the restorecon to see what would happen and it changed it back to default_t. semanage fcontext -l gives: /modevasive/ all files system_u:object_r:httpd_sys_content_t:s0` And looking at /etc/selinux/targeted/contexts/files/file_contexts.local gives /modevasive/ system_u:object_r:httpd_sys_content_t:s0 So why does restorecon keep setting it back to default_t?

• How to quickly empty a very full recycle bin?

  I have deleted about half a million files from a folder, and didn't think to press Shift in order to delete them completely straight away. Now they're clogging my recycle bin, and Windows claims it will take 4 hours to empty it - it claims to do about 68 files per second. Is there some magic or an alternative method that can speed this up? Bounty - I'm starting a bounty. The files are still in my bin, as there was no pressing need to get rid of them and this way, I can try out the suggestions presented. I am, however, looking for a way that does not include hard-deleting the contents of the RECYCLER folder - I'm sure that would work, but it feels a bit unclean to me.

  Helo I installed MAMP PRO on my Macbook Pro (10.6) some time ago. Now I would like to use zip functions in php. I found that I must add zip.so to my extension folder and edited php.ini. On my computer I have two different versions of PHP one in MAMP folder and other in user/lib which was pre-installed on my system. Now I wish to compile my zip library for MAMP version. I got zip sources for my version of PHP then in terminal called function /Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/bin/phpize so it uses mamp php version ./configure make then I moved compile zip.so to extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613.
