When the deubgger is attached to a process on remote server - What locations are searched for the pdb? In what order? (e.g. is it searched on the remote server (debuggee) or on the local client (deubger)) When I use the deubgger to manually load pdb file from specific location - is the deubbger looking for the file locally or is it the remote debugger monitor looking for the file on the? Is there any article that describes that process?

First of all, I would like to apologize for my bad grammar since English is not my native tongue. This is my understanding: Control.Invoke(delegated_method) // Executes on the thread wich the control was created on witch holds its handle ,typically this would be the main thread of a winform application . Control.BeginInvoke(delegated_method // Executes asynchronously on a threadPool Thread . According to MSDN, it says Executes a delegate asynchronously on the thread that the control's underlying handle was created on. My QUESTION : Am I to understand that beginInvoke treats the main thread in this matter as it would the thread pool, and execute the delegated method on the main thread when it "gets a chance" ? Another question which is raised, is it possible to create a control not on the main thread ? if so could someone give me an example?

Conditional Statements - If Then vs. Select Case

I'm a bit new to programming, and based on the few sources I've read both on the web and the books I'm learning to teach myself they are able to define what IF THEN and SELECT CASE conditional statements are, but have failed to give a comparison as to why I would use one over the other and what best practices decide this. If I'm understanding these conditional statements correctly, then both are based on a set of conditions with an outcome based around meeting these conditions, and if no conditions are met then an alternative outcome can be defined. I'm having trouble in understanding when I would use an IF THEN statement, and when I'd use a SELECT CASE statement, and what best practices are used to define this decision. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated!

But in IE it get better preformance with 100 if...else if...else.

MSDN Live 2010 – Delivered : 24 sessions (4 x 6) on Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server

We (Mikael Nitell and me) got a whole track on the Norwegian MSDN Live tour this year. We did these as a pair, and covered 4 cities over 4 days, 6 sessions per day, taking 8 hours to come through it. The Islandic volcano made the travels a bit rough, but we managed 6 flights out of 8. The first one had to go by van instead, 7-8 hour drive each way together with other MSDN Live presenters – a memorable tour! Oslo was the absolute top point. We had to change hall to a bigger one. People were crowding, and even the big hall was packed! The presentations were mostly based on demos, but we had a few slides as well. They have been uploaded to my SkyDrive. Info to aliens – some of the text may be Norwegian. The sessions were as follows: Overview of news in Visual Studio and Team Foundation server 2010 Ensuring Quality with VS/TFS 2010 Releasing products with VS/TFS 2010 No More No Repro with VS/TFS 2010 Performance Testing and Parallel Programming with VS/TFS 2010 Migrating to VS/TFS 2010 Tips, tricks, news and some best practices with VS/TFS 2010 In the coming days, I will post up examples from the demos too, with explanations of how they are intended to work. These entries will also contain stuff we had to remove from the actual presentations due to the time constraints. We managed to create recordings of two of the sessions, which will be uploaded to Channel 9 by Microsoft, afaik. I will update this blog with information about exact locations when that is done. How do I change variables from different classes?

Before I delve into it, I'm very new to Android and I have just started learning Java last month. I've hit bumps while trying to develop my first simple app. Most of these hurdles were jumped thanks to random tutorials online. MY CODE IS VERY MESSY. Any tips are appreciated. The question above is quite broad, but this is what I want to do: It's a essentially a blood alcohol content calculator / drink keeper-tracker. Basic layout: http://i.imgur.com/JGuh7.jpg The buttons along the bottom are just regular buttons, not ImageButtons (had problems with that) Here's some example code of one: <Button android:id="@+id/Button01" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_marginRight="5dp" android:background="@drawable/addbeer"/> The buttons and TextView are all in main.xml. It calculates your BAC based on the factors involved. When I press the add beer button (Button01) I make it add 1 to StandardDrinks, simulating drinking one beer. The other variables in the Bac formula have values assigned to them in Global.java. The code that makes the beer button do stuff is in my regular class, drinkingbuddy.java: public class DrinkingBuddy extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); Button button = (Button) findViewById(R.id.Button01); button.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { Global.StandardDrinks = Global.StandardDrinks + Global.BeerDrinkFinal; Toast.makeText(DrinkingBuddy.this, "Mmmm... Beer", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } }); By my perception, StandardDrinks should now have a value of 1. However, when I click the Calculate BAC button (Button05) it merely outputs the variable Bac as if StandardDrinks was still set to 0. Here is the code for the Calculate BAC button (Button05): Button button4 = (Button) findViewById(R.id.Button05); button4.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { TextView texty; texty = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.texty1); texty.setText("Your BAC is " + Global.Bac ); } }); It outputs the following to the text view: "Your BAC is -0.017". This is the Bac value for if StandardDrinks was still 0, so obviously there is some problem communicating between the classes. Can anyone help me?? The other elements of the formula (weight, time spent drinking, and the alcohol %'s and such) are variables because I will ultimately allow the user to change those values in the settings. I've heard around the water cooler that global variables are not good programming style, but this is the closest I've come to getting it to work. Any other ways of doing it are very much welcomed!
