  • Regex to exclude 1 word out of a regex code.

    I need a regex expert to help out on this one. Examples I've found on here and the net I cant seem to get right. I'm using PHP and I have the following regex expression /([^a-zA-Z0-9])GC([A-Z0-9]+)/ This matches items like GCABCD GC123A, etc. What i need to do is EXCLUDE GCSTATS from this. So basically I want it to work just as it has, except, ignore GCSTATS in the regex.

    I've just noticed that most of hpricot code is written in java... I heard that JRuby performed a lot better than native ruby when processing regular expression. Is maybe the java classes just activated if JRuby or Java is installed and the ruby used if these are not found? It's something puzzling indeed. Thanks

    Hi there, Is there a way to retrieve tables, including alias tables, and columns, including alias columns, from an Apache Torque Criteria object reliably? I understand that there is methods like: getSelectedColumns, getAsColumns(), getJoins(), etc., but for examples, getJoins() will just return a list of joined tables strings in free text, where one has to use regular expression to extract the needed joined table information out of it.     Hi, I'm working on a regular expression that will only return true when a date string is in a format something like 'ddd, dd mmm yy'. Valid matches would be values like "Sun, 20 Jun 10" or "Mon, 21 Jun 10" but not "Sunday, 20 Jun 10" or "20 Jun 10". This will be used with mb_ereg in PHP.     I need to use VBA to determine the number of arguments passed to an Excel formula. For instance, suppose a cell contains the formula =MyFunc($A$1, "xyz", SUM(1,2,COUNT(C1:C12)), IF(B12,1,0)). Then the counter function should return 4. Does VBA contain any built-in functions for this, or does someone have an example of a regular expression that could calculate this?

    I can't find XamlPad anywhere after I installed .NET 4.0 / Visual Studio 2010 and Windows 7 SDK - v7.1. I tried searching C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.1\bin and did a dir /s xamlpad.exe to see if the Windows Index service didn't get to that folder yet. And it's not under Start Menu - All Programs - Windows SDK v7.1 -- Tools. Where has it gone? Did MS deprecate it? Thanks

    I have been trying to execute a MS SQL Server stored procedure via JDBC today and have been unsuccessful thus far. The stored procedure has 1 input and 1 output parameter. With every combination I use when setting up the stored procedure call in code I get an error stating that the stored procedure couldn't be found. I have provided the stored procedure I'm executing below (NOTE: this is vendor code, so I cannot change it). set ANSI_NULLS ON set QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO ALTER PROC [dbo].[spWCoTaskIdGen] @OutIdentifier int OUTPUT AS BEGIN DECLARE @HoldPolicyId int DECLARE @PolicyId char(14) IF NOT EXISTS ( SELECT * FROM UniqueIdentifierGen (UPDLOCK) ) INSERT INTO UniqueIdentifierGen VALUES (0) UPDATE UniqueIdentifierGen SET CurIdentifier = CurIdentifier + 1 SELECT @OutIdentifier = (SELECT CurIdentifier FROM UniqueIdentifierGen) END The code looks like: CallableStatement statement = connection .prepareCall("{call dbo.spWCoTaskIdGen(?)}"); statement.setInt(1, 0); ResultSet result = statement.executeQuery(); I get the following error: SEVERE: Could not find stored procedure 'dbo.spWCoTaskIdGen'. The sql generated to execute the stored procedure is provided below: GO DECLARE @return_value int, @OutIdentifier int EXEC @return_value = [dbo].[spWCoTaskIdGen] @OutIdentifier = @OutIdentifier OUTPUT SELECT @OutIdentifier as N'@OutIdentifier ' SELECT 'Return Value' = @return_value GO The code being executed runs with the same user id that was used in point #1 above. In the code that creates the Connection object I log which database I'm connecting to and the code is connecting to the correct database. Any ideas? Thank you very much in advance.

    I want a regular expression to validate a nickname: 6 to 36 characters, it should contain at least one letter. Other allowed characters: 0-9 and underscores. This is what I have now: if(!preg_match('/^.*(?=\d{0,})(?=[a-zA-Z]{1,})(?=[a-zA-Z0-9_]{6,36}).*$/i', $value)){ echo 'bad'; } else{ echo 'good'; } This seems to work, but when a validate this strings for example: 11111111111a is not valid, but it should aaaaaaa!aaaa is valid, but it shouldn't Any ideas to make this regexp better?

  • Is there a compelling reason to use quantifiers in Perl regular expressions instead of just repeatin

    I was performing a code review for a colleague and he had a regular expression that looked like this: if ($value =~ /^\d\d\d\d$/) { #do stuff } I told him he should change it to: if ($value =~ /^\d{4}$/) { #do stuff } To which he replied that he preferred the first for readability (I find the second more readable, but that's a religious debate I'll save for another day). My question: is there an actual benefit to one over the other?
