• Install/upgrade ubuntu from another system

  I have a new Laptop with latest Ubuntu preinstalled on it, its 12.04. I have another laptop with Ubuntu 10.04 on it. What I lack is a fast internet connection. I want to upgrade my Ubuntu 10 laptop to a ubuntu 12 version. How is this possible without using internet connection? Can I move/copy the installation from the new laptop to the older one? Is there a way so that the newer laptop can upgrade the older one using a usb disk or dvd/cd?

• How do I get my HP M1132 printer to work?

  I connected my printer to the computer and Ubuntu 12.04recognized it and installed it, but when I try to print something, the printer just gives a signal as if the document had already been printed and nothing happens, and at the printing queue the job is still there as "Processing - Not Connected?" or "Stopped". The printer is working fine on Microsoft Windows and I am sure it is connected. In the status field in the printer properties, it says: Processing - /usr/lib/cups/filter/hpcups failed. I'd like someone to please teach me how to get this printer (and it's scanner) working on Ubuntu.

  HI, i want to buy a netbook for doing some stuff in the train. Can someone report how it is to code simple stuff on a netbook? 10/12". I wanted to buy a very cheap one. like 1gb ram 1,6ghz blabla. and run linux on it with apache. i will code with JS/PHP. and as IDE i'll be using notepad++. so nothing big like eclispe or something else. maybe later on eclipse for java, but that doesn't really matter. so first, would this setup work fine on such a netbook and, is it okay for coding? I don't style any homepages on the netbook, I just want to code. would be nice if someone can share his experience in that. thanks :)

• Using paypal to process credit cards in Sweden through an API [on hold]

  I'm looking for a Paypal API that lets me process credit cards to make payments without being redirected to a paypal site and without enforcing consumers to use their paypal account. And it needs to work in Sweden. The ones I've looked at (dodirectpayment, expresscheckout, paypalpro gateway) and none of them have let me process credit cards in Sweden via an API that doesn't force the user to visit the paypal login site. I have a form on my webpage that the user types their credit card number, ccv2, expiration, name, address, etc. I need an API that works in Sweden that simply processes the request, and it has to be without the step of being redirected into a paypal website. The ones that I have found only worked in a select few countries, is there an international solution? I've already spent over 12 work hours just looking for an API that meets my requirements.

  I need to manually install the drivers for my graphics card, which is an ATI 2600 xt. But I am using a 64-bit platform and to do so i need the ia32-libs package. i have scoured the net for fixes, workarounds etc. but have found none that work. the output i get after trying apt-get is: Reading package lists... What do you need to do and where are the official patch requirements? • Wifi is connected but internet not working?

  I have a lenovo x230 running ubuntu 12.04lts. I've been using it just fine for a while, but all of a sudden the internet's stopped working. It's connected to the router just fine (I can see the antenna bars saying it's connected) but when I try to go to a webpage, it's just loading forever. I've tried the fix listed here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1985079) but it hasn't done anything (the instructions are a little confusing though). I'm booting windows 7 right now and the internet works just fine when I'm on windows, so I know it must be a problem with ubuntu. I haven't touched any network settings before this problem happened, and I've been using it just fine for months, so I don't know why I'm getting this problem all of a sudden. Oh and I haven't updated anything in a few weeks (you know when the update manager pops up every so often listing all the things there's an update for) so I know it's not some update that broke it.

  Hy Everyone! I have some graphics glich when enable gpu acc. in chrome. If i disable acceleraion it fix the glich but, in full HD most of flash videos frame rate drop above frogs a**, so very slow... :) Any idea, what can i do? I Upload 2 pics from glich. My hardware: CM Hyper TX 3 on AMD A5300 with HD 7480D 6 GB RAM I use official AMD driver from amd.com, Ubuntu 14.04(I upgraded from 12.04, in Ubuntu 12, same glitch with old drivers.) I reinstalld x.org completly and purge all config files, but this didnt resolve the problem. • Odds For Fighting Game

  I'm creating a fighting game where two opponents face off against each other in the ring. While I've been able to figure out the odds of a player winning based on previous wins/losses, I have yet to find a formula which modifies those odds based on opponent. For example: Player 1: W:5 L:5 - 1/1 odds Player 2: W:5 L:0 - 1/5 odds I want to calculate the odds that Player 1 will wins against player 2. Compounding this the players could be of different levels: if the players are within a few levels of each other, the odds should map closely to wins/losses. However, as the levels diverge, the odds of the lower level player winning reduce. As a swag: Player 1 - W:5 L:5 - 1:1 odds Against a level 8 - 1:2 Against a level 9 - 2:3 Against a level 10 - 1:1 Against a level 11 - 3:2 Against a level 12 - 2:1 These are just estimates, my sense is that there is a math formula out there which will calculate that - can anyone out there point me to what this could be? • Disable printing extraneous job info when I print a images

  As of 10/11/12 I this is still a problem. Peterling, that link you gave me was for Windows. Not Ubuntu. I need to know how to do this in Ubuntu. Whenever I print off an image, before the actual image prints, I get these weird "print job" sheets. (I named them that, because I don't know what else to call them.) • Remove Ubuntu 11.10 from Dual Boot Windows XP without XP CD?

  I installed Ubuntu on a old Windows XP computer using Dual Boot, i have no XP Cd and desperately need to remove it! EasyBCD does not work on windows XP, iF I just delete the Ubuntu partition all hell breaks loose and i have to reinstall ubuntu to get my XP back. Please help me i am only 12 and i have made a stupid error on my mum and dads computer and will get into serious trouble if i dont fix it soon!. Extra Information: I use the gnu boot loader to choose my operating system, but my mum and dad need my help to open a word document, they have only just grasped double clicking! I installed it off a cd that i made, the computer is 64-bit AMD Athlon with one 160gb hard drive, 512mb ram and a Sis mirage2 128mb shared video card. Its a COMPAQ presario.

• Why doesn't my graphic card support 1280*1024?

  Hi, I have an external monitor which is an 20" 1280*1024. In windows 7 it works fine with that resolution but in ubuntu it can't. Example: In windows I connect it and activates it, done. In ubuntu I connect and the only resolution that is available is the ones my laptop screen support, 12" 1366*768. My laptop is an asus 1201n. • help redirecting IP address

  Google has indexed the IP address of my site rather than the domain, so now I'm trying to set up a 301 redirect that will redirect the IP address and all subsequent pages to the domain. I currently have something like this in my .htaccess file (however don't think it's working correctly?): RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^12.34.567.890 RewriteRule (.*) (domain address)/$1 [R=301,L] I've used various redirect checker tools and keep getting the message: "... not redirecting to any URL or the redirect is NOT SEARCH ENGINE FRIENDLY" Am I doing something wrong or is there something else I should be trying?
