  • Unable to Mange DNS via MMC

    When trying to access the DNS service on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (Build 3790) domain controller/schema master via the MMC DNS snap in or locally via the DNS MMC from Administrative tools I'm getting a red "X" through the icon for the DNS Server. The inability to access DNS management via MMC happens on all domain controllers as well. We've looked at items such as the DHCP client not being started, incorrect DNS setup ( the machine points at itself and another DC ), the DNS service not running ( it is and all DNS queries via NSLOOKUP work correctly ), dslint returns the correct information and functions as expected. There is the following entry in the DNS event log: The DNS server could not initialize the remote procedure call (RPC) service. If it is not running, start the RPC service or reboot the computer. The event data is the error code. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. 0000: 0000051b dnscmd fails with RPC server unavailable yet RPC is started: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.DOMAIN>dnscmd /Info Info query failed status = 1722 (0x000006ba) Command failed: RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE 1722 (000006ba) DCDIAG /TEST:DNS /V /E produces the following errors: Warning: no DNS RPC connectivity (error or non Microsoft DNS server is running) [Error details: 1753 (Type: Win32 - Description: There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper.)] Warning: no DNS RPC connectivity (error or non Microsoft DNS server is running) [Error details: 1722 (Type: Win32 - Description: The RPC server is unavailable.)] The DNS server could not initialize the remote procedure call (RPC) service.   • Advice on HTTPS connections using Ruby on Rails

    Since I am developing a "secure" OAuth protocol for my RoR3 apps, I need to send protected information over the internet, so I need to use HTTPS connections (SSL/TSL). I read How to Cure Net::HTTP’s Risky Default HTTPS Behavior aticle that mentions the 'always_verify_ssl_certificates' gem, but, since I want to be more "pure" (it means: I do not want to install other gems, but I try to do everything with Ruby on Rails) as possible, I want to do that work without installing new gems. I read about 'open_uri' (it is also mentioned in the linked article: "open_uri is a common exception - it gets things right!") that is from the Ruby OOPL and I think it can do the same work. So, for my needs, is 'open_uri' the best choice (although it is more complicated of 'always_verify_ssl_certificates' gem)? If so, can someone help me using that (with an example, if possible) because I have not found good guides about?

    Hi, In our project we are consuming WCF webservices exposed at Central location as services with basicHttpBinding. In client desktop application we need consume those webservices. I am able to generate proxy class using WSDL.exe. But, I need to convert data/class given by the webservice into my local class, for that now I am xmlserialzing those class/objects given by webservice and deserializing into my local classes as both classes schema matches exactly same. Is there any better way that I can follow? or Do I need to assign each property from one class to another? thanks nRk.

  • MIT vs. BSD vs. Dual License

    My understanding is that: MIT-licensed projects can be used/redistributed in BSD-licensed projects. BSD-licensed projects can be used/redistributed in MIT-licensed projects. The MIT and the BSD 2-clause licenses are essentially identical. BSD 3-clause = BSD 2-clause + the "no endorsement" clause Issuing a dual license allows users to choose from those licenses—not be bound to both. If all of the above is correct, then what is the point of using a dual MIT/BSD license? Even if the BSD refers to the 3-clause version, then can't a user legally choose to only abide by the MIT license? It seems that if you really want the "no endorsement" clause to apply then you have to license it as just BSD (not dual). If you don't care about the "no endorsement" clause, then MIT alone is sufficient and MIT/BSD is redundant. Similarly, since the MIT and BSD licenses are both "GPL-compatible" and can be redistributed in GPL-licensed projects, then dual licensing MIT/GPL also seems redundant.

It was documented that the there is need to send a GET request to the URL with the user's ID and returns the contact list in XML format. I tried the same but facing the authentication message 401 from browser, normal console java application and from jsp too I guess I must try it using the open social API package. Can anybody please guide or suggest the solution for this problem if possible please post any code sample for any similar application in JAVA as I found most samples are unclear and in JSON only.     Hi, I'm using code similar to the following: http://blog.flexexamples.com/2007/08/29/launching-new-browser-windows-from-flex/ I have a Flex app running in AIR, and when I click on a URL it opens a new tab in my existing browser. In addition to this the focus doesn't set to the browser. What this means is that I'm not aware of the URL opening in the browser unless I actually change focus from the app to the browser. Is it possible to open a brand new spanking browser, or change focus to the browser so its really obvious to the user? Thanks.

The problem is that they only really need a small subset of the features WebOffice provides (Contact list, Database, and Document Storage). They've asked me to develop a website focused on these three features with the rationalization that this should be more cost-effective, since they currently aren't using many of the features of WebOffice they pay for. What are some open-source alternatives that I could implement for them? Sharepoint sounds like it would be too bloated and Google Apps may not be as collaborative as they would like.

    Hello, I have a class that inherits from the TcpListener, this class Shadows the Start method just to call the base Start() and the base BeginAcceptTcpClient(). From time to time the method is called but the port is not opened (netstat does not show the port open). Right now i, and the entire planet, are hardcoding the "MetabasePath" as iis://localhost/MimeMap What should it really be? What should the code be doing to construct a valid MetabasePath? Note: i'm not getting an access denied error, the error is the same when you have an invalid MetabasePath, e.g. iis://localhost/SoTiredOfThis

  • Python (windows) will open files from command line, but not from a script launched from eclipse

    I'm pretty new to writing python for windows (linux is no problem), and am having problems getting python to recognize files when running scripts, though it behaves fine in the command line What am I doing wrong here? def verifyFile(x): # return os.path.isfile(x) This will return true (with a valid file, of course) when called from the python command line, but when I run the script from eclipse, or launch it from windows, it ALWAYS returns false. Any thoughts on why this is? I've tried passing pathnames like this: D:\Documents and Settings\BDE\Desktop\cdburn.jpg and like this: D:/Documents and Settings/BDE/Desktop/cdburn.jpg I've changed sys,argv[0] to '' I've tried this: def verifyFile(x): # try: f = open(x, 'r') f.close() return True except: return False and am getting no love!     Hi, Is there a way to open a window from the current page using a javascript bookmarklet, and once the the child window has finished loading, setting the value of one of the elements in its DOM to some value from the current page, say for example the currently selected text. I know that this can be done in plane javascript, and also, by appending the value to the URL, and reading it from the web service opened in the new child window. I want to know if there is any other way, as the appending URL method does not let you send text more than two thousand odd characters long. Appreciate any help I can get!
