• Working with datetime type in Quickbooks My Time files

  I'm attempting to process Quickbooks My Time imt files using PHP. The imt file is a plaintext XML file. I've been able to use the PHP SimpleXML library with no issues but one: The numeric representations of datetime in the My Time XML files is something I've never seen before: <object type="TIMEPERIOD" id="z128"> <attribute name="notes" type="string"></attribute> <attribute name="start" type="date">308073428.00000000000000000000</attribute> <attribute name="running" type="bool">0</attribute> <attribute name="duration" type="double">3600</attribute> <attribute name="datesubmitted" type="date">310526237.59616601467132568359</attribute> <relationship name="activity" type="1/1" destination="ACTIVITY" idrefs="z130"></relationship> </object> You can see that attritube[@name='start'] has a value of: 308073428.00000000000000000000 This is not Excel based method of storage 308,073,428 is too many days since 1900-01-00 and it isn't Unix Epoch either. So, my question is, has anyone ever seen this type of datetime representation?

• Extracting function declarations from a PHP file

  I'm looking to create an on-site API reference for my framework and application. Basically, say I have a class file model.class.php: class Model extends Object { ... code here ... // Separates results into pages. // Returns Paginator object. final public function paginate($perpage = 10) { ... more code here ... } } and I want to be able to generate a reference that my developers can refer to quickly in order to know which functions are available to be called. They only need to see the comments directly above each function and the declaration line. Something like this (similar to a C++ header file): // Separates results into pages. // Returns Paginator object. final public function paginate($perpage = 10); I've done some research and this answer looked pretty good (using Reflection classes), however, I'm not sure how I can keep the comments in. Any ideas? EDIT: Sorry, but I want to keep the current comment formatting. Myself and the people who are working on the code hate the verbosity associated with PHPDocumentor. Not to mention a comment-rewrite of the entire project would take years, so I want to preserve just the // comments in plaintext.

  Hello, i am implementing the First Data Global Gateway API into a Java E-Commerce Web application. The problem that i have is that I get an error message SGS-020003: Invalid XML returned from the staging.linkpt.net server. By switching the optional entities off, I managed to locate the problematic entity. It is the Shipping entity. I have the following data inside it: <shipping> <zip>10105</zip> <phone>123456789</phone> <email>[email protected]</email> <name>DJBla</name> <state>NY</state> <address1>some city</address1> <address2>suite 6</address2> <city>New York</city> <country>US</country> </shipping> According to the First Data Global Gateway User Manual Version 1.1 everything is correct with my XML.   I am trying to send an email using the following very standard code. However, I get the error that follow... The server response was: No such user here. This recipient email address definitely works. To make this account work I had to do some special steps in outlook. Specifically, I had to do change account settings - more settings - outgoing server - my outgoing server requires authentication & use same settings. I am wondering if there is some other strategy. I think the key here is that my host is Server Intellect and I know that some people on here use them so hopefully someone else has been able to get through this. I did talk to support but they said with coding issues I am on my own :o

• Unit testing code which uses Umbraco v4 API

  I'm trying to write a suite of integration tests, where I have custom code which uses the Umbraco API. The Umbraco database lives in a SQL Server CE 4.0 database (*.sdf file) and I've managed to get that association working fine. My problem looks to be dependancies in the Umbraco code. For example, I would like to create a new user for my tests, so I try: var user = User.MakeNew("developer", "developer", "mypassword", "[email protected]", adminUserType); Now as you can see, I have pass a user type which is an object. I've tried two separate ways to create the user type, both of which fail due to a null object exception: var adminUserType = UserType.GetUserType(1); var adminUserType2 = new UserType(1); The problem is that in each case the UserType code calls it's Cache method which uses the HttpRuntime class, which naturally is null. My question is this: Can someone suggest a way of writing integration tests against Umbraco code? Will I have to end up using a mocking framework such as TypeMock or JustMock?

  I am using JavaMail to connect to a POP3 server. I assume that the host simply doesn't exist. For example, if I poll pop3.yahoo.com instead of pop.mail.yahoo.com (which would be the right host name), I have to wait very long til a timeout exception occurs. After several minutes, I get the following exception and the application continues to run: java.net.ConnectException: Operation timed out pop3.yahoo.com seems to exist but won't respond: localhost:~ me$ ping pop3.yahoo.com PING pop3.yahoo.com (206.190.46.10): 56 data bytes Request timeout for icmp_seq 0 Request timeout for icmp_seq 1 Request timeout for icmp_seq 2 Request timeout for icmp_seq 3 ^C You might be asking why I use pop3.yahoo.com instead of pop.mail.yahoo.com. Well, I simply wanted to test what happens if the user of my application inserts a wrong host name. JavaMail then seems to wait very long (don't know why). Since the issue wasn't resolved in the link I posted: Does somebody know how to fix or at least debug this?   Hi I have a table Customer. One of the columns in table is DateCreated. This column is NOT NULL but default values is defined for this column in db. • How can I change the tags/css class of some dynamic text based on output from a helper?

  I have a repeated line which outputs something like: Call John Jones in -3 days (status) I have a helper called show_status(contact,email) which will output whether that particular email had been sent to that particular contact. If it is "sent," then that entire line should show up as "strike out." Similarly, if the number of days is -3 (<0), the line should be formatted in red. Here's my hack, but there must be a cleaner way to put the logic into the controller? • How do I implement "cash out" on my site using PayPal?

  I have a credit system set up on my site where user A can purchase a document from user B, let's say for 1 credit and user B's account gets credited, let's say for $1. User B can then "cash out" and recieve the money they earned from my (the site's) PayPal account into their PayPal account (let's assume that their email address is valid for now). When user A purchases a credit, they are taken to PayPal where they can login and complete the purchase, for this purpose I have an IPN listener set up on my site that stores credit information to my site's database. However, I can't find a mechanism to send the "cash out" information (i.e. user's email and amount to be paid) to PayPal. To elaborate: I understand that PayPal sends the IPN when someone purchases from me, but how do I post from my site to PayPal when the user clicks the "cash out" button? I have seen mention of Mass Pay, but can't seem to locate any code samples to go from. Am I missing something, or is there perhaps a different (and better) way to do this? Thanks!

• To OpenID or not to OpenID? Is it worth it?

  Does OpenID improve the user experience? Edit Not to detract from the other comments, but I got one really good reply below that outlined 3 advantages of OpenID in a rational bottom line kind of way. I've also heard some whisperings in other comments that you can get access to some details on the user through OpenID (name? email? what?) and that using that it might even be able to simplify the registration process by not needing to gather as much information. Things that definitely need to be gathered in a checkout process: Full name Email (I'm pretty sure I'll have to ask for these myself) Billing address Shipping address Credit card info There may be a few other things that are interesting from a marketing point of view, but I wouldn't ask the user to manually enter anything not absolutely required during the checkout process. So what's possible in this regard? /Edit (You may have noticed stackoverflow uses OpenID) It seems to me it is easier and faster for the user to simply enter a username and password in a signup form they have to go through anyway. I mean you don't avoid entering a username and password either with OpenID. But you avoid the confusion of choosing a OpenID provider, and the trip out to and back from and external site. With Microsoft making Live ID an OpenID provider (More Info), bringing on several hundred million additional accounts to those provided by Google, Yahoo, and others, this question is more important than ever. I have to require new customers to sign up during the checkout process, and it is absolutely critical that the experience be as easy and smooth as possible, every little bit harder it becomes translates into lost sales. No geek factor outweighs cold hard cash at the end of the day :) OpenID seems like a nice idea, but the implementation is of questionable value. What are the advantages of OpenID and is it really worth it in my scenario described above?

• Best practices for encrypting continuous/small UDP data

  Hello everyone, I am having an application where I have to send several small data per second through the network using UDP. The application need to send the data in real-time (no waiting). I want to encrypt these data and insure that what I am doing is as secure as possible. Since I am using UDP, there is no way to use SSL/TLS, so I have to encrypt each packet alone since the protocol is connectionless/unreliable/unregulated. Right now, I am using a 128-bit key derived from a passphrase from the user, and AES in CBC mode (PBE using AES-CBC). I decided to use a random salt with the passphrase to derive the 128-bit key (prevent dictionary attack on the passphrase), and of course use IVs (to prevent statistical analysis for packets). However I am concerned about few things: Each packet contains small amount of data (like a couple of integer values per packet) which will make the encrypted packets vulnerable to known-plaintext attacks (which will result in making it easier to crack the key). Also, since the encryption key is derived from a passphrase, this will make the key space way less (I know the salt will help, but I have to send the salt through the network once and anyone can get it). Given these two things, anyone can sniff and store the sent data, and try to crack the key. Although this process might take some time, once the key is cracked all the stored data will be decrypted, which will be a real problem for my application. So my question is, what is the best practices for sending/encrypting continuous small data using a connectionless protocol (UDP)? Is my way the best way to do it? ...flowed? ...Overkill? ... Please note that I am not asking for a 100% secure solution, as there is no such thing. Cheers

• List of Users and Role using Membership Provider

  I’m trying to produce a view to show a list of users and their role using the built in membership provider. My model and controller are picking up the users and roles but I’m having trouble displaying them in my view. • Sharepoint alerts not working when multiple people are in an item

  We use Sharepoint Services 3.0 as a project tracking tool. We have a list set up that contains your basic information (description, etc.) plus we have a "assigned person" column that is of type Person or Group that we use to associate list items with individuals. This column supports multiple selections. We would like to set up alerts such that each person gets an alert email only if they are assigned to a list item. The approach we have taken is to set up a view on this list that is filtered to show list items where the assigned person equals [Me], and then to create an alert on this list that is set to send an email when someone changes an items that appears in the view. This works well when there is only one person in the assigned person column. It does not work when there is more than one person in the assigned person column. Does anybody know why this wouldn't work, or what I can do to troubleshoot? Is there a better way to achieve the end result? We could make several "assigned person" columns and not allow multiple selections, but that seems kind of kludgy.

• Best practices for encrytping continuous/small UDP data

  Hello everyone, I am having an application where I have to send several small data per second through the network using UDP. The application need to send the data in real-time (on waiting). I want to encrypt these data and insure that what I am doing is as secure as possible. Since I am using UDP, there is no way to use SSL/TLS, so I have to encrypt each packet alone since the protocol is connectionless/unreliable/unregulated. Right now, I am using a 128-bit key derived from a passphrase from the user, and AES in CBC mode (PBE using AES-CBC). I decided to use a random salt with the passphrase to derive the 128-bit key (prevent dictionary attack on the passphrase), and of course use IVs (to prevent statistical analysis for packets). However I am concerned about few things: Each packet contains small amount of data (like a couple of integer values per packet) which will make the encrypted packets vulnerable to known-plaintext attacks (which will result in making it easier to crack the key). Also, since the encryption key is derived from a passphrase, this will make the key space way less (I know the salt will help, but I have to send the salt through the network once and anyone can get it). Given these two things, anyone can sniff and store the sent data, and try to crack the key. Although this process might take some time, once the key is cracked all the stored data will be decrypted, which will be a real problem for my application. So my question is, what is the best practices for sending/encrypting continuous small data using a connectionless protocol (UDP)? Is my way the best way to do it? ...flowed? ...Overkill? ... Please note that I am not asking for a 100% secure solution, as there is no such thing. Cheers

• Sorcery/Capybara: Cannon log in with :js => true

  I've been using capybara for a while, but I'm new to sorcery. I have a very odd problem whereby if I run the specs without Capybara's :js = true functionality I can log in fine, but if I try to specify :js = true on a spec, username/password cannot be found. However, IF I change the scenario spec from (in this case) scenario "adding questions to a project" do to scenario "adding questions to a project", :js => true do login fails with an 'incorrect username/password' combination. Literally the only change is that :js = true. I'm using the default capybara javascript driver. (Loads up Firefox) Any ideas what could be going on here? I'm completely stumped. I'm using Capybara 2.0.1, Sorcery 0.7.13. There is no javascript on the sign in page and save_and_open_page before clicking 'sign in' confirms that the correct details are entered into the username/password fields. Any suggestions really appreciated - I'm at a loss.

  There is good documentation out there on testing ActionMailer send methods which deliver mail. But I'm unable to figure out how to test a receive method that is used to parse incoming mail.
