• Web Url contains Spanish Characters which my NSXMLParser is not parsing

  I am Parsing Web urls from server and storing them in Strings and then displaying it on Webview. But now when i am parsing Spanish words like http://litofinter.es.milfoil.arvixe.com/litofinter/PDF/Presentación_LITOFINTER_(ES).pdf it is accepting it PDF File Name ++++++ http://litofinter.es.milfoil.arvixe.com/litofinter/PDF/Presentaci PDF File Name ++++++ ón_LITOFINTER_(ES).pdf i.e two different strings... i know i have to make small change that is append the string but i am not able to do it now, can anyone help me out. • How to transform a production to LL(1) grammar for a list separated by a semicolon?

  Hi, I'm reading this introductory book on parsing (which is pretty good btw) and one of the exercice is to "build a parser for your favorite language." Since I don't want to die today, I thought I could do a parser for something relatively simple, ie a simplified CSS. Note: This book teach you how to right a LL(1) parser using the recursive-descent algorithm. So, as a sub-exercice, I am building the grammar from what I know of CSS. But I'm stuck on a production that I can't transform in LL(1) : //EBNF block = "{", declaration, {";", declaration}, [";"], "}" //BNF <block> =:: "{" <declaration> "}" <declaration> =:: <single-declaration> <opt-end> | <single-declaration> ";" <declaration> <opt-end> =:: "" | ";" This describe a CSS block. Valid block can have the form : { property : value } { property : value; } { property : value; property : value } { property : value; property : value; } ... The problem is with the optional ";" at the end, because it overlap with the starting character of {";", declaration}, so when my parser meet a semicolon in this context, it doesn't know what to do. The book talk about this problem, but in its example, the semicolon is obligatory, so the rule can be modified like this : block = "{", declaration, ";", {declaration, ";"}, "}" So, Is it possible to achieve what I'm trying to do using a LL(1) parser?

• App-Engine Parse a UrlFetch UTF-8 encoded stream

  I am trying to parse an XML from a URL using the xml.sax parser. I know there are other libraries to use but coming from Java this is the one I am most familiar with and seems the least complicated to me. The code I'm using to parse is as follows: parser = xml.sax.make_parser() handler = MangaHandler() parser.setContentHandler(handler) url = urlfetch.Fetch('http://www.mangapanda.com/alphabetical', allow_truncated = False, follow_redirects = False, deadline = False) xml.sax.parseString(url.content, handler) This returns a SaxException (invalid token) once the parser reaches the first & sign: SAXParseException: <unknown>:582:34: not well-formed (invalid token) Because urlfetch returns a string and not a stream I cannot use the parse() (which only works with streams) and am left to use parseString() instead. To see if parsing as a stream would fix this I tried: parser.parse(io.StringIO(url.content).encode('utf-8')) but this returns: TypeError: initial_value must be unicode or None, not str I have also tried to use the urllib2 libraries which do return a stream instead of urlfetch but the file is too large and is automatically truncated, leaving me with missing data. Any Sort of work-around for this would be greatly appreciated as I've spent days getting around one obstacle just to be stopped by another.

• How do I track a branch of another repository on the same machine?

  I have two private repositories on one machine. Let's call them repo-A and repo-B, which are the directories ~/repo-A and ~/repo-B, respectively. repo-A has two relevant branches: master and live. I'd like to set up repo-B to track repo-A's live branch, so that git pull will pull any updates from repo-A's live branch into repo-B's master branch. Right now, I have the following in repo-B's .git/config: [remote "origin"] url = /home/stutzbach/repo-A/ fetch = +refs/heads/live:refs/remotes/origin/live [branch "master"] remote = origin merge = refs/heads/master However, when I run git pull, it seems to pull from repo-A's master branch. Obviously, I don't have it set up right. What's the right way?

  Look at this piece of code: MessageParser parser = new MessageParser(); for (int i = 0; i < 10000; i++) { parser.parse(plainMessage, user); } For some reason, it runs SLOWER (by about 100ms) than for (int i = 0; i < 10000; i++) { MessageParser parser = new MessageParser(); parser.parse(plainMessage, user); } Any ideas why? The tests were repeated a lot of times, so it wasn't just random. How could creating an object 10000 times be faster than creating it once?

  Here's my setup... Laptop (Mac) - git clone of svn repository Thumb drive - git clone of laptop git repository Server (Win Server 08) - git clone of thumb drive repository I'm having trouble keeping them in sync for some reason... If I make a change on the server, I'll do a "git pull " on the thumb drive to get the changes. Take the thumb drive to the laptop and do "git pull " on the laptop. From there, I can do "git svn dcommit" and everything goes up to the SVN repo with no problem. If I pull changes from SVN with "git svn rebase" and then do a pull onto the thumb drive and do a "git status" it says that I'm ## revisions ahead of the master/origin and I can't figure out why.

• Postfix and right-associative operators in LR(0) parsers

  Is it possible to construct an LR(0) parser that could parse a language with both prefix and postfix operators? For example, if I had a grammar with the + (addition) and ! (factorial) operators with the usual precedence then 1+3! should be 1 + 3! = 1 + 6 = 7, but surely if the parser were LR(0) then when it had 1+3 on the stack it would reduce rather than shift? Also, do right associative operators pose a problem? For example, 2^3^4 should be 2^(3^4) but again, when the parser have 2^3 on the stack how would it know to reduce or shift? If this isn't possible is there still a way to use an LR(0) parser, possibly by converting the input into Polish or Reverse Polish notation or adding brackets in the appropriate places? Would this be done before, during or after the lexing stage?

• Assigning unsigned char* buffer to a string

  This question might be asked before but I couldn't find exactly what I need. My problem is, I have a buffer loaded by data downloaded from a webservice. The buffer is in unsigned char* form in which there is no '\0' at the end. Then I have a poco xml parser needs a string. I tried assigning it to string but now I realized it would cause problem such as leaking. here is the code: DOMParser::DOMParser(unsigned char* consatData, int consatDataSize, unsigned char* lagData, int lagDataSize) { Poco::XML::DOMParser parser; std::string consat; consat.assign((const char*) consatData, consatDataSize); pDoc = parser.parseString(consat); ParseConsat(); } Poco xml parser does have a ParseMemory which need a const char* and size of data but for some reason it just gives me segmentation fault. So I think it's safer to turn it to string. Thanks in advance.

• Python NameError when attempting to use a user-defined class

  I'm getting a weird instance of a NameError when attempting to use a class I wrote. In a directory, I have the following file structure: dir/ ReutersParser.py test.py reut-xxx.sgm Where my custom class is defined in ReutersParser.py and I have a test script defined in test.py. The ReutersParser looks something like this: from sgmllib import SGMLParser class ReutersParser(SGMLParser): def __init__(self, verbose=0): SGMLParser.__init__(self, verbose) ... rest of parser if __name__ == '__main__': f = open('reut2-short.sgm') s = f.read() p = ReutersParser() p.parse(s) It's a parser to deal with SGML files of Reuters articles. The test works perfectly. Anyway, I'm going to use it in test.py, which looks like this: from ReutersParser import ReutersParser def main(): parser = ReutersParser() if __name__ == '__main__': main() When it gets to that parser line, I'm getting this error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "D:\Projects\Reuters\test.py", line 34, in <module> main() File "D:\Projects\Reuters\test.py", line 19, in main parser = ReutersParser() File "D:\Projects\Reuters\ReutersParser.py", line 38, in __init__ SGMLParser.__init__(self, verbose) NameError: global name 'sgmllib' is not defined For some reason, when I try to use my ReutersParser in test.py, it throws an error that says it cannot find sgmllib, which is a built-in module. I'm at my wits' end trying to figure out why the import won't work. What's causing this NameError? I've tried importing sgmllib in my test.py and that works, so I don't understand why it can't find it when trying to run the constructor for my ReutersParser.

  Hi, I’m facing an issue with NHibernate performance and can you please suggest me some optimizations? Below mentioned is a small summary of my application architecture I have a windows service which is listening to a messaging bus. On receiving a message the service creates an object out of which a property is the received xml snippet and saves the message to the DB (uses NH). There is a WPF UI with a readonly connection to the DB, and on refresh of the UI it displays the objects on the screen. While the UI does a refresh, it retrieves the xml and deserializes it , from which the object’s properties are derived and binded to the screen. For example assume an xml XXX is received by the service, it deserializes the xml , creates the book object and save it to the DB and a property/column is SCHEMA which contains the xml snippet. The UI while refreshed searches all book objects by ID and creates the book objects out of the xml which is being saved (yes, the xml is the constructor param). Now my issue is that the refresh takes more than 2 minutes to display say 50 book objects. I analyzed it using the NHibernate profiler, and found that the time spend within the DB is negligible, however time spent to create the entities is proportionally huge(10ms:1990 ms).I guess it’s due to the fairly huge size of xml snippet and it’s deserialization. My question is, how can I improve the performance. I dispose sessions after every refresh and is not lazy loading (please note that the time spend in DB is negligible). On every refresh it’s possible that all objects are updated by some downstream systems or maybe one of them are updated.Can I implement some sort of caching mechanism in this case? • How many xml http requests is too much for a pc to handle?

  I'm running mediawiki on an apache on a regular pc running vista (don't know the specific specs, but I'm guessing at least duo core 2 2 giga hertz processor, broadband connection (500 kb/s at least, probably 1 mega). I want to use the MediaWiki api to send a lot of requests to this server. Most of the time the requests will be sent through LAN (but sometimes through the internet). I'm talking thousands of requests every few seconds at worst case. (A lot of these requests may repeat themselves, I guess some sort of cache would help) Will the server handle this, or do I need a stronger/dedicated computer? (I'm not looking for specific yes/no, but just want to get an idea as to what configuration of computer will support how many request per second) Thanks

• JAXB Unable To Handle Attribute with Colon (:) in name?

  I am attempting to use JAXB to unmarshall an XML files whose schema is defined by a DTD (ugh!). The external provider of the DTD has specified one of the element attributes as xml:lang: <!ATTLIST langSet id ID #IMPLIED xml:lang CDATA #REQUIRED > This comes into the xjc-generated class (standard generation; no *.xjb magic) as: @XmlAttribute(name = "xml:lang", required = true) @XmlJavaTypeAdapter(NormalizedStringAdapter.class) protected String xmlLang; However, when unmarshalling valid XML files with JAXB, the xmlLang attribute is always null. When I edited the XML file, replacing xml:lang with lang and changed the @XmlAttribute to match, unmarshalling was successful (i.e. attributes were non-null). I did find this http://old.nabble.com/unmarshalling-ignores-element-attribute-%27xml%27-td22558466.html. But, the resolution there was to convert to XML Schema, etc. My strong preference is to go straight from an un-altered DTD (since it is externally provided and defined by an ISO standard). Is this a JAXB bug? Am I missing something about "namespaces" in attribute names? FWIW, java -version = "build 1.6.0_20-b02" and xjc -version = "xjc version "JAXB 2.1.10 in JDK 6""

• Should I use a class in this: Reading a XML file using lxml.

  Hi everyone. This question is in continuation to my previous question, in which I asked about passing around an ElementTree. I need to read the XML files only and to solve this, I decided to create a global ElementTree and then parse it wherever required. My question is: Is this an acceptable practice? I heard global variables are bad. If I don't make it global, I was suggested to make a class. But do I really need to create a class? What benefits would I have from that approach. Note that I would be handling only one ElementTree instance per run, the operations are read-only. If I don't use a class, how and where do I declare that ElementTree so that it available globally? (Note that I would be importing this module) Please answer this question in the respect that I am a beginner to development, and at this stage I can't figure out whether to use a class or just go with the functional style programming approach.

The issue I am having, I call upon the function - However the code after the function call is continuing before the function has returned a value. • What is the opposite of JAXB? i.e. generating XML FROM classes?

I need to dynamically generate an XML file on the fly using Java objects, in the same way JAXB generates Java classes from XML files, however the opposite direction. Is there something out there already like this? Alternatively, a way in which one could 'save' a state of java classes. The goal I am working towards is a dynamically changing GUI, where a user can redesign their GUI in the same way you can with iGoogle.

• Jboss Seam: Enabling Debug page on WebLogic 10.3.2 (11g)

  Hi all, SKIP TO UPDATE 3 I want to enable the Seam debug page on Weblogic 10.3.2 (11g). So, I have done the following: I have the jboss-seam and jboss-seam-debug jars as dependency in both my ejb and web maven projects (both are modules of my superproject) I put this context parameter in my web.xml: <context-param> <param-name>org.jboss.seam.core.init.debug</param-name> <param-value>true</param-value> </context-param> Now, when I hit the URL of my application, I get the debug page with this exception (full stacktrace at the end of the post): Caused by java.lang.IllegalStateException with message: "No phase id bound to current thread (make sure you do not have two SeamPhaseListener instances installed)" From posts I read it seems that this is somehow related to two jars of jboss-seam or jboss-seam-debug being in the classpath. I opened my ear file and only one of each is present (in the ear) whereas the war itself has no libraries in the WEB-INF/lib. I have also read of another way to initialize debug page using the components.xml. They have an outer EAR project containing the inner WAR project. They discuss that this may be related to how jars end up in the projects. I use Maven, and I had set it to create "Skinny Wars", that is excluding all jar dependencies from the inner WAR project, so that it remains small in size. All its dependencies are contained in the EAR and are used by all other modules. I changed the settings of the maven-war-plugin to leave inside the war the web-specific jars (the ones mentioned in the link, like RichFaces, jboss-seam-debug, Facelets etc). However, the problem has reverted to its previous form. I now get the debug page, whatever link I press, with the initial exception. • How can I best share Ant targets between projects?

  Is there a well-established way to share Ant targets between projects? I have a solution currently, but it's a bit inelegant. Here's what I'm doing so far. I've got a file called ivy-tasks.xml hosted on a server on our network. This file contains, among other targets, boilerplate tasks for managing project dependencies with Ivy. For example: <project name="ant-ivy-tasks" default="init-ivy" xmlns:ivy="antlib:org.apache.ivy.ant"> ... <target name="ivy-download" unless="skip.ivy.download"> <mkdir dir="${ivy.jar.dir}"/> <echo message="Installing ivy..."/> <get src="http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/apache/ivy/ivy/${ivy.install.version}/ivy-${ivy.install.version}.jar" dest="${ivy.jar.file}" usetimestamp="true"/> </target> <target name="ivy-init" depends="ivy-download" description="-> Defines ivy tasks and loads global settings"> <path id="ivy.lib.path"> <fileset dir="${ivy.jar.dir}" includes="*.jar"/> </path> <taskdef resource="org/apache/ivy/ant/antlib.xml" uri="antlib:org.apache.ivy.ant" classpathref="ivy.lib.path"/> <ivy:settings url="http://myserver/ivy/settings/ivysettings-user.xml"/> </target> ... </project> The reason this file is hosted is because I don't want to: Check the file into every project that needs it - this will result in duplication, making maintaining the targets harder. Have my build.xml depend on checking out a project from source control - this will make the build have more XML at the top-level just to access the file. What I do with this file in my projects' build.xmls is along the lines of: <property name="download.dir" location="download"/> <mkdir dir="${download.dir}"/> <echo message="Downloading import files to ${download.dir}"/> <get src="http://myserver/ivy/ivy-tasks.xml" dest="${download.dir}/ivy-tasks.xml" usetimestamp="true"/> <import file="${download.dir}/ivy-tasks.xml"/> The "dirty" part about this is that I have to do the above steps outside of a target, because the import task must be at the top-level. Plus, I still have to include this XML in all of the build.xml files that need it (i.e. there's still some amount of duplication). On top of that, there might be additional situations where I might have common (non-Ivy) tasks that I'd like imported. If I were to provide these tasks using Ivy's dependency management I'd still have problems, since by the time I'd have resolved the dependencies I would have to be inside of a target in my build.xml, and unable to import (due to the constraint mentioned above). Is there a better solution for what I'm trying to accomplish?

• how do I access XHR responseBody from Javascript?

  I've got a web page that uses XMLHttpRequest to download a binary resource. Because it's binary I'm trying to use xhr.responseBody to access the bytes. I've seen a few posts suggesting that it's impossible to access the bytes directly from Javascript. This sounds crazy to me. Weirdly, xhr.responseBody is accessible from VBScript, so the suggestion is that I must define a method in VBScript in the webpage, and then call that method from Javascript. The best way? copying every byte? For a large binary stream that's not gonna be very efficient. There is also a possible technique using ADODB.Stream, which is a COM equivalent of a MemoryStream. See here for an example.
