  • Where does authentication and loader go in Zend Framework?

    - by Joel
    Hi guys, Still trying to learn the basics of MVC. I'm making use of Zend_Loader for Google Calendar feed. What file would this information go in? The .phtml view? // load library Zend_Loader::loadClass('Zend_Gdata'); Zend_Loader::loadClass('Zend_Gdata_ClientLogin'); Zend_Loader::loadClass('Zend_Gdata_Calendar'); Zend_Loader::loadClass('Zend_Http_Client'); // create authenticated HTTP client for Calendar service $gcal = Zend_Gdata_Calendar::AUTH_SERVICE_NAME; $user = "xxxxxxxxxxxx"; $pass = "xxxxxxxxxxxx"; $client = Zend_Gdata_ClientLogin::getHttpClient($user, $pass, $gcal); $gcal = new Zend_Gdata_Calendar($client); $query = $gcal->newEventQuery(); $query->setUser('xxxxxxxxxxxx'); $secondary=true; $query->setVisibility('private'); $query->setProjection('basic'); $query->setOrderby('starttime'); $query->setSortOrder('ascending'); //$query->setFutureevents('true'); $startDate=date('Y-m-d h:i:s'); $endDate="2015-12-31"; $query->setStartMin($startDate); $query->setStartMax($endDate); $query->setMaxResults(30); try { $feed = $gcal->getCalendarEventFeed($query); } catch (Zend_Gdata_App_Exception $e) { echo "Error: " . $e->getResponse(); } Thanks!

  • How can you exclude a large number of records in a cross db query using LINQ2SQL?

    - by tap
So here is my situation: I have a vendor supplied DB we cannot modify and a custom db that imports data from the vendor app and acts on it. Once records are imported form the vendor app, they cannot appear on the list of records to be imported. Also we only want to display the 250 most recent records that have not been imported. What I originally started with was select the list of ids that have been imported from the custom db, and then query the vendor db, using the list of ids in a .Where(x = !idList.Contains(x.Id)) clause on the remote query. This worked up until we broke 2100 records imported into the custom db, as 2100 is the limit on the number of parameters that can be passed into SQL. After finding out this was the actual problem and not the 'invalid buffer'/'severe error' ADO.Net reported, my solution was to remove the first 2000 ids in the remote query, and then remove the remaining records in the local query. Having to pull back a large number of irrelevant records, just to exclude them, so I can get the correct 250 records seems very inelegant. Is there a better way to do this, short of doing a cross db stored procedure? Thanks in advance.

  • Seeking on a Heap, and Two Useful DMVs

    - by Paul White
So far in this mini-series on seeks and scans, we have seen that a simple ‘seek’ operation can be much more complex than it first appears.  A seek can contain one or more seek predicates – each of which can either identify at most one row in a unique index (a singleton lookup) or a range of values (a range scan).  When looking at a query plan, we will often need to look at the details of the seek operator in the Properties window to see how many operations it is performing, and what type of operation each one is.  As you saw in the first post in this series, the number of hidden seeking operations can have an appreciable impact on performance. Measuring Seeks and Scans I mentioned in my last post that there is no way to tell from a graphical query plan whether you are seeing a singleton lookup or a range scan.  You can work it out – if you happen to know that the index is defined as unique and the seek predicate is an equality comparison, but there’s no separate property that says ‘singleton lookup’ or ‘range scan’.  This is a shame, and if I had my way, the query plan would show different icons for range scans and singleton lookups – perhaps also indicating whether the operation was one or more of those operations underneath the covers. In light of all that, you might be wondering if there is another way to measure how many seeks of either type are occurring in your system, or for a particular query.  As is often the case, the answer is yes – we can use a couple of dynamic management views (DMVs): sys.dm_db_index_usage_stats and sys.dm_db_index_operational_stats. Index Usage Stats The index usage stats DMV contains counts of index operations from the perspective of the Query Executor (QE) – the SQL Server component that is responsible for executing the query plan.  It has three columns that are of particular interest to us: user_seeks – the number of times an Index Seek operator appears in an executed plan user_scans – the number of times a Table Scan or Index Scan operator appears in an executed plan user_lookups – the number of times an RID or Key Lookup operator appears in an executed plan An operator is counted once per execution (generating an estimated plan does not affect the totals), so an Index Seek that executes 10,000 times in a single plan execution adds 1 to the count of user seeks.  Even less intuitively, an operator is also counted once per execution even if it is not executed at all.  I will show you a demonstration of each of these things later in this post. Index Operational Stats The index operational stats DMV contains counts of index and table operations from the perspective of the Storage Engine (SE).  It contains a wealth of interesting information, but the two columns of interest to us right now are: range_scan_count – the number of range scans (including unrestricted full scans) on a heap or index structure singleton_lookup_count – the number of singleton lookups in a heap or index structure This DMV counts each SE operation, so 10,000 singleton lookups will add 10,000 to the singleton lookup count column, and a table scan that is executed 5 times will add 5 to the range scan count. The Test Rig To explore the behaviour of seeks and scans in detail, we will need to create a test environment.  The scripts presented here are best run on SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition, but the majority of the tests will work just fine on SQL Server 2005.  A couple of tests use partitioning, but these will be skipped if you are not running an Enterprise-equivalent SKU.  Ok, first up we need a database: USE master; GO IF DB_ID('ScansAndSeeks') IS NOT NULL DROP DATABASE ScansAndSeeks; GO CREATE DATABASE ScansAndSeeks; GO USE ScansAndSeeks; GO ALTER DATABASE ScansAndSeeks SET ALLOW_SNAPSHOT_ISOLATION OFF ; ALTER DATABASE ScansAndSeeks SET AUTO_CLOSE OFF, AUTO_SHRINK OFF, AUTO_CREATE_STATISTICS OFF, AUTO_UPDATE_STATISTICS OFF, PARAMETERIZATION SIMPLE, READ_COMMITTED_SNAPSHOT OFF, RESTRICTED_USER ; Notice that several database options are set in particular ways to ensure we get meaningful and reproducible results from the DMVs.  In particular, the options to auto-create and update statistics are disabled.  There are also three stored procedures, the first of which creates a test table (which may or may not be partitioned).  The table is pretty much the same one we used yesterday: The table has 100 rows, and both the key_col and data columns contain the same values – the integers from 1 to 100 inclusive.  The table is a heap, with a non-clustered primary key on key_col, and a non-clustered non-unique index on the data column.  The only reason I have used a heap here, rather than a clustered table, is so I can demonstrate a seek on a heap later on.  The table has an extra column (not shown because I am too lazy to update the diagram from yesterday) called padding – a CHAR(100) column that just contains 100 spaces in every row.  It’s just there to discourage SQL Server from choosing table scan over an index + RID lookup in one of the tests. The first stored procedure is called ResetTest: CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.ResetTest @Partitioned BIT = 'false' AS BEGIN SET NOCOUNT ON ; IF OBJECT_ID(N'dbo.Example', N'U') IS NOT NULL BEGIN DROP TABLE dbo.Example; END ; -- Test table is a heap -- Non-clustered primary key on 'key_col' CREATE TABLE dbo.Example ( key_col INTEGER NOT NULL, data INTEGER NOT NULL, padding CHAR(100) NOT NULL DEFAULT SPACE(100), CONSTRAINT [PK dbo.Example key_col] PRIMARY KEY NONCLUSTERED (key_col) ) ; IF @Partitioned = 'true' BEGIN -- Enterprise, Trial, or Developer -- required for partitioning tests IF SERVERPROPERTY('EngineEdition') = 3 BEGIN EXECUTE (' DROP TABLE dbo.Example ; IF EXISTS ( SELECT 1 FROM sys.partition_schemes WHERE name = N''PS'' ) DROP PARTITION SCHEME PS ; IF EXISTS ( SELECT 1 FROM sys.partition_functions WHERE name = N''PF'' ) DROP PARTITION FUNCTION PF ; CREATE PARTITION FUNCTION PF (INTEGER) AS RANGE RIGHT FOR VALUES (20, 40, 60, 80, 100) ; CREATE PARTITION SCHEME PS AS PARTITION PF ALL TO ([PRIMARY]) ; CREATE TABLE dbo.Example ( key_col INTEGER NOT NULL, data INTEGER NOT NULL, padding CHAR(100) NOT NULL DEFAULT SPACE(100), CONSTRAINT [PK dbo.Example key_col] PRIMARY KEY NONCLUSTERED (key_col) ) ON PS (key_col); '); END ELSE BEGIN RAISERROR('Invalid SKU for partition test', 16, 1); RETURN; END; END ; -- Non-unique non-clustered index on the 'data' column CREATE NONCLUSTERED INDEX [IX dbo.Example data] ON dbo.Example (data) ; -- Add 100 rows INSERT dbo.Example WITH (TABLOCKX) ( key_col, data ) SELECT key_col = V.number, data = V.number FROM master.dbo.spt_values AS V WHERE V.[type] = N'P' AND V.number BETWEEN 1 AND 100 ; END; GO The second stored procedure, ShowStats, displays information from the Index Usage Stats and Index Operational Stats DMVs: CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.ShowStats @Partitioned BIT = 'false' AS BEGIN -- Index Usage Stats DMV (QE) SELECT index_name = ISNULL(I.name, I.type_desc), scans = IUS.user_scans, seeks = IUS.user_seeks, lookups = IUS.user_lookups FROM sys.dm_db_index_usage_stats AS IUS JOIN sys.indexes AS I ON I.object_id = IUS.object_id AND I.index_id = IUS.index_id WHERE IUS.database_id = DB_ID(N'ScansAndSeeks') AND IUS.object_id = OBJECT_ID(N'dbo.Example', N'U') ORDER BY I.index_id ; -- Index Operational Stats DMV (SE) IF @Partitioned = 'true' SELECT index_name = ISNULL(I.name, I.type_desc), partitions = COUNT(IOS.partition_number), range_scans = SUM(IOS.range_scan_count), single_lookups = SUM(IOS.singleton_lookup_count) FROM sys.dm_db_index_operational_stats ( DB_ID(N'ScansAndSeeks'), OBJECT_ID(N'dbo.Example', N'U'), NULL, NULL ) AS IOS JOIN sys.indexes AS I ON I.object_id = IOS.object_id AND I.index_id = IOS.index_id GROUP BY I.index_id, -- Key I.name, I.type_desc ORDER BY I.index_id; ELSE SELECT index_name = ISNULL(I.name, I.type_desc), range_scans = SUM(IOS.range_scan_count), single_lookups = SUM(IOS.singleton_lookup_count) FROM sys.dm_db_index_operational_stats ( DB_ID(N'ScansAndSeeks'), OBJECT_ID(N'dbo.Example', N'U'), NULL, NULL ) AS IOS JOIN sys.indexes AS I ON I.object_id = IOS.object_id AND I.index_id = IOS.index_id GROUP BY I.index_id, -- Key I.name, I.type_desc ORDER BY I.index_id; END; The final stored procedure, RunTest, executes a query written against the example table: CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.RunTest @SQL VARCHAR(8000), @Partitioned BIT = 'false' AS BEGIN -- No execution plan yet SET STATISTICS XML OFF ; -- Reset the test environment EXECUTE dbo.ResetTest @Partitioned ; -- Previous call will throw an error if a partitioned -- test was requested, but SKU does not support it IF @@ERROR = 0 BEGIN -- IO statistics and plan on SET STATISTICS XML, IO ON ; -- Test statement EXECUTE (@SQL) ; -- Plan and IO statistics off SET STATISTICS XML, IO OFF ; EXECUTE dbo.ShowStats @Partitioned; END; END; The Tests The first test is a simple scan of the heap table: EXECUTE dbo.RunTest @SQL = 'SELECT * FROM Example'; The top result set comes from the Index Usage Stats DMV, so it is the Query Executor’s (QE) view.  The lower result is from Index Operational Stats, which shows statistics derived from the actions taken by the Storage Engine (SE).  We see that QE performed 1 scan operation on the heap, and SE performed a single range scan.  Let’s try a single-value equality seek on a unique index next: EXECUTE dbo.RunTest @SQL = 'SELECT key_col FROM Example WHERE key_col = 32'; This time we see a single seek on the non-clustered primary key from QE, and one singleton lookup on the same index by the SE.  Now for a single-value seek on the non-unique non-clustered index: EXECUTE dbo.RunTest @SQL = 'SELECT data FROM Example WHERE data = 32'; QE shows a single seek on the non-clustered non-unique index, but SE shows a single range scan on that index – not the singleton lookup we saw in the previous test.  That makes sense because we know that only a single-value seek into a unique index is a singleton seek.  A single-value seek into a non-unique index might retrieve any number of rows, if you think about it.  The next query is equivalent to the IN list example seen in the first post in this series, but it is written using OR (just for variety, you understand): EXECUTE dbo.RunTest @SQL = 'SELECT data FROM Example WHERE data = 32 OR data = 33'; The plan looks the same, and there’s no difference in the stats recorded by QE, but the SE shows two range scans.  Again, these are range scans because we are looking for two values in the data column, which is covered by a non-unique index.  I’ve added a snippet from the Properties window to show that the query plan does show two seek predicates, not just one.  Now let’s rewrite the query using BETWEEN: EXECUTE dbo.RunTest @SQL = 'SELECT data FROM Example WHERE data BETWEEN 32 AND 33'; Notice the seek operator only has one predicate now – it’s just a single range scan from 32 to 33 in the index – as the SE output shows.  For the next test, we will look up four values in the key_col column: EXECUTE dbo.RunTest @SQL = 'SELECT key_col FROM Example WHERE key_col IN (2,4,6,8)'; Just a single seek on the PK from the Query Executor, but four singleton lookups reported by the Storage Engine – and four seek predicates in the Properties window.  On to a more complex example: EXECUTE dbo.RunTest @SQL = 'SELECT * FROM Example WITH (INDEX([PK dbo.Example key_col])) WHERE key_col BETWEEN 1 AND 8'; This time we are forcing use of the non-clustered primary key to return eight rows.  The index is not covering for this query, so the query plan includes an RID lookup into the heap to fetch the data and padding columns.  The QE reports a seek on the PK and a lookup on the heap.  The SE reports a single range scan on the PK (to find key_col values between 1 and 8), and eight singleton lookups on the heap.  Remember that a bookmark lookup (RID or Key) is a seek to a single value in a ‘unique index’ – it finds a row in the heap or cluster from a unique RID or clustering key – so that’s why lookups are always singleton lookups, not range scans. Our next example shows what happens when a query plan operator is not executed at all: EXECUTE dbo.RunTest @SQL = 'SELECT key_col FROM Example WHERE key_col = 8 AND @@TRANCOUNT < 0'; The Filter has a start-up predicate which is always false (if your @@TRANCOUNT is less than zero, call CSS immediately).  The index seek is never executed, but QE still records a single seek against the PK because the operator appears once in an executed plan.  The SE output shows no activity at all.  This next example is 2008 and above only, I’m afraid: EXECUTE dbo.RunTest @SQL = 'SELECT * FROM Example WHERE key_col BETWEEN 1 AND 30', @Partitioned = 'true'; This is the first example to use a partitioned table.  QE reports a single seek on the heap (yes – a seek on a heap), and the SE reports two range scans on the heap.  SQL Server knows (from the partitioning definition) that it only needs to look at partitions 1 and 2 to find all the rows where key_col is between 1 and 30 – the engine seeks to find the two partitions, and performs a range scan seek on each partition. The final example for today is another seek on a heap – try to work out the output of the query before running it! EXECUTE dbo.RunTest @SQL = 'SELECT TOP (2) WITH TIES * FROM Example WHERE key_col BETWEEN 1 AND 50 ORDER BY $PARTITION.PF(key_col) DESC', @Partitioned = 'true'; Notice the lack of an explicit Sort operator in the query plan to enforce the ORDER BY clause, and the backward range scan. © 2011 Paul White email: [email protected] twitter: @SQL_Kiwi

  • DropDownList Value not changing with UpdatePanel and ModalPopupExtender

    - by Richard
    Greetings, I have an asp.net webpage with an modalpopupextender inside of an updatepanel. When I click Ok on the popup, I can get the textbox values from the popup just fine, but the DropDownLists have the old/default value, not the new value I have selected for them. All the controls on the popup are set to enableviewstate = true, and autopostback = false (I just want to make the trip to the server when I click the ok button, not every time I change the value of the popups). Here is the relevant code. ========================== Client Side <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server"> <ContentTemplate> <asp:Panel ID="EditIssuePanel" runat="server" CssClass="modalPopup" Style="display:block;" > <table style="width:500px;"> <tr style="height:50px;"> <td colspan="2" align="center"> <asp:Label ID="lblEditIssueHeader" runat="server" Text="Edit Issue"></asp:Label> </td> </tr> <tr style="height:30px;"> <td class="labelscolumn"> <asp:Label ID="lblIssueName" runat="server" Text="Name:"></asp:Label> </td> <td class="datacolumn"> <asp:TextBox ID="txtName" runat="server" Width="250px" MaxLength="50"></asp:TextBox> </td> </tr> <tr style="height:30px;"> <td class="labelscolumn"> <asp:Label ID="lblDescription" runat="server" Text="Description:"></asp:Label> </td> <td class="datacolumn"> <asp:TextBox ID="txtDescription" runat="server" Width="250px" MaxLength="1000"></asp:TextBox> </td> </tr> <tr style="height:30px;"> <td class="labelscolumn"> <asp:Label ID="lblType" runat="server" Text="Type:"></asp:Label> </td> <td class="datacolumn"> <asp:DropDownList ID="ddlType" runat="server"> <asp:ListItem Selected="True" Value="B">Bug</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem Value="R">Request</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem Value="O">Other</asp:ListItem> </asp:DropDownList> </td> </tr> <tr style="height:30px;"> <td class="labelscolumn"> <asp:Label ID="lblStatus" runat="server" Text="Status:"></asp:Label> </td> <td class="datacolumn"> <asp:DropDownList ID="ddlStatus" runat="server"> <asp:ListItem Selected="True" Value="L">Logged</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem Value="I">In Process</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem Value="C">Complete</asp:ListItem> </asp:DropDownList> &nbsp; </td> </tr> <tr style="height:30px;"> <td class="labelscolumn"> <asp:Label ID="lblPriority" runat="server" Text="Priority:"></asp:Label> </td> <td class="datacolumn"> <asp:DropDownList ID="ddlPriority" runat="server" EnableViewState="true" AutoPostBack="false"> <asp:ListItem Selected="True" Value="L">Low</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem Value="M">Medium</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem Value="H">High</asp:ListItem> </asp:DropDownList> &nbsp;</td> </tr> <tr style="height:30px"> <td class="labelscolumn">Logger</td> <td class="datacolumn"> <asp:Label ID="lblEnteredByClientUserID" runat="server" Text=""></asp:Label> </td> </tr> <tr style="height:30px;"> <td class="labelscolumn"> <asp:Label ID="lblDateResolutionRequested" runat="server" Text="Requested Complete Date:"></asp:Label> </td> <td class="datacolumn"> <igsch:WebDateChooser ID="wdcRequestCompleteDate" runat="server"> </igsch:WebDateChooser> &nbsp;</td> </tr> <tr style="height:30px"> <td class="labelscolumn">Logged Date</td> <td class="datacolumn"> <asp:Label ID="lblLoggedDate" runat="server" Text=""></asp:Label> </td> </tr> <tr style="height:30px"> <td class="labelscolumn">In Process Date</td> <td class="datacolumn"> <asp:Label ID="lblInProcessDate" runat="server" Text=""></asp:Label> </td> </tr> <tr style="height:30px"> <td class="labelscolumn">Resolved Date</td> <td class="datacolumn"> <asp:Label ID="lblResolvedDate" runat="server" Text=""></asp:Label> </td> </tr> <tr style="height:30px;"> <td class="labelscolumn" valign="top"> <asp:Label ID="lblEmailCCList" runat="server" Text="Email CC:"></asp:Label> </td> <td class="datacolumn"> <asp:TextBox ID="txtEmailCCList" runat="server" MaxLength="2000" Rows="0" TextMode="MultiLine" Height="83px" Width="250px"></asp:TextBox> &nbsp;</td> </tr> <tr> <td> <asp:Label ID="lblIssueID" runat="server" Text="" Visible="false"></asp:Label> <asp:Label ID="lblClientID" runat="server" Text="" Visible="false"></asp:Label> </td> <td align="right"> <asp:Button ID="btnEditOk" runat="server" Text="Ok" onclick="btnEditOk_Click"/>&nbsp;&nbsp; <asp:Button ID="btnEditCancel" runat="server" Text="Cancel" onclick="btnEditCancel_Click" />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </td> </tr> </table> </asp:Panel> . . .   • How to troubleshoot a remote wmi query/access failure?

    - by Roman
Hi I'm using Powershell to query a remote computer in a domain for a wmi object, eg: "gwmi -computer test -class win32_bios". I get this error message: Value does not fall within the expected range Executing the query local under the same user works fine. It seems to happen on both windows 2003 and also 2008 systems. The user that runs the shell has admin rights on the local and remote server. I checked wmi and dcom permissions as far as I know how to do this, they seem to be the same on a server where it works, and another where it does not. I think it is not a network issue, all ports are open that are needed, and it also happens within the same subnet. When sniffing the traffic we see the following errors: RPC: c/o Alter Cont Resp: Call=0x2 Assoc Grp=0x4E4E Xmit=0x16D0 Recv=0x16D0 Warning: GssAPIMechanism is not found, either caused by not reassembled, conversation off or filtering. And an errormessage from Kerberos: Kerberos: KRB_ERROR - KDC_ERR_BADOPTION (13) The option code in the packet is 0x40830000 Any idea what I should look into?

  • MySQL query very slow on Amazon RDS but really fast on my laptop?

    - by Luc
I would love to know if anybody knows why this is happening. i've just migrated over to Amazon RDS for our website and our biggest query which takes .2 seconds to execute on my macbook takes 1.3 seconds to execute on the most expensive RDS instance. Obviously i've disabled query cache (and tested this) on my local computer and both databases are exactly the same. InnoDB, both have the same indexes etc. It's costing us a fortune ($2000 per month) for the fastest RDS instance and i'm losing faith quickly. any ideas?

  • Can you have a WMI query for GPO Filter based on user's OU?

    - by Jordan Weinstein
I'm wondering if there is a way to have a WMI query check the OU of the user logging on. I'd like a GPO (linked to Citrix servers OU) to apply only to users if the user is in a certain OU - this is for Citrix so the overly obvious answer of - well just link it to the OU the user is in does not apply. This also cannot be done using security groups because a long time ago those started to get used as Distribution Groups also and now too many are widely inaccurate. Lastly I need to apply this to the entire GPO as there are more than just group policy preferences included so I can't use the item-level targeting feature either. But my OUs are accurate so I'd like to use those if I can. I'd like a WMI query filter to say, apply GPO if user is member of OU 'x' that doable?

  • What would cause a query being ran from SSMS on local box to run slower then from remote box

    - by Racter
When I run a simply query such as "Select Column1, Column2 from Table A" from within SSMS running on my production SQL Server the results seems to take extremely long (45Min). If I run the same query from my dev system’s SSMS connecting to the production SQL Server the results return within a few seconds (<60sec). One thing I have notices is if the system was just rebooted performance is good for a bit. It is hard to determine a time as I have had it start running slow very quickly after reboot but at most it performed good for 20min and then start acting up. Also, just restarting the SQL service does not resolve the issue or provide a temporary performance boost. Specs for Server are: Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition, SP2 4 X Intel Xeon 3.6GHz - 6GB System Memory Active/Active Cluster SQL Server 2005 SP2 (9.0.3239)

  • Why is this MySQL FULLTEXT query returning 0 rows when matching rows are present?

    - by Don MacAskill
I have a MySQL table with 200M rows which has a FULLTEXT index on two columns (Title,Body). When I do a simple FULLTEXT query in the default NATURAL LANGUAGE mode for some popular results (they'd return 2M+ rows), I'm getting zero rows back: SELECT COUNT(*) FROM itemsearch WHERE MATCH (Title, Body) AGAINST ('fubar'); But when I do a FULLTEXT query in BOOLEAN mode, I can see the rows in question do exist (I get 2M+ back, depending): SELECT COUNT(*) FROM itemsearch WHERE MATCH (Title, Body) AGAINST ('+fubar' IN BOOLEAN MODE); I have some queries which return ~500K rows which are working fine in either mode, so if it's result size related, it seems to crop up somewhere between 500K and a little north of 2M. I've tried playing with the various buffer size variables, to no avail. It's clearly not the 50% threshold, since we're not getting 100M rows back for any result. Any ideas?

  • BIND: How do I allow DNS query from specific external host?

    - by krbvroc1
I'm running Centos 5.8 (bind 9.3.6). Here is my issue... I run my own DNS server to serve the local machine. I would like to use my DNS server from home. Since my home is a dynamic IP address, I am not sure how this would be accomplished. In my named.conf, there is an allow-query{} and allow-recursion{}. It seems both of those take an IP address, but i need to specify a hostname (at least a cname). This is not a public DNS server (so any is not an option). My hostname/cname is already updated automatically using nsupdate. The only solution I can think of, which I do not like, is to change my nsupdate script to somehow modify the named.conf to search/replace the allow-query/recursion IP address. That would require restarting named whenever the hostname changes as well as Is there some other way to handle this?

  • How Export Result of MySQL Query on PHPMyAdmin 3.4.3?

    - by grape
    1) I've got a 30K row table. 2) When I run a long, 50-line query on that table, a GROUP function reduces the number of rows to 7K. 3) I want to export the grouped 7K rows as a new table, or save them as a CSV. When I attempt to export, instead of getting the grouped 7K rows, I get the old, pre-query 30K rows. What am I doing wrong, and what should I be doing? NOTE: I'm not a coder, so I'd really appreciate a solution that just used the PHPMyAdmin GUI. Thanks!

  • How to cache queries in EJB and return result efficient (performance POV)

    - by Maxym
I use JBoss EJB 3.0 implementation (JBoss 4.2.3 server) At the beginning I created native query all the time using construction like Query query = entityManager.createNativeQuery("select * from _table_"); Of couse it is not that efficient, I performed some tests and found out that it really takes a lot of time... Then I found a better way to deal with it, to use annotation to define native queries: @NamedNativeQuery( name = "fetchData", value = "select * from _table_", resultClass=Entity.class ) and then just use it Query query = entityManager.createNamedQuery("fetchData"); the performance of code line above is two times better than where I started from, but still not that good as I expected... then I found that I can switch to Hibernate annotation for NamedNativeQuery (anyway, JBoss's implementation of EJB is based on Hibernate), and add one more thing: @NamedNativeQuery( name = "fetchData2", value = "select * from _table_", resultClass=Entity.class, readOnly=true) readOnly - marks whether the results are fetched in read-only mode or not. It sounds good, because at least in this case of mine I don't need to update data, I wanna just fetch it for report. When I started server to measure performance I noticed that query without readOnly=true (by default it is false) returns result with each iteration better and better, and at the same time another one (fetchData2) works like "stable" and with time difference between them is shorter and shorter, and after 5 iterations speed of both was almost the same... The questions are: 1) is there any other way to speed query using up? Seems that named queries should be prepared once, but I can't say it... In fact if to create query once and then just use it it would be better from performance point of view, but it is problematic to cache this object, because after creating query I can set parameters (when I use ":variable" in query), and it changes query object (isn't it?). well, is here any way to cache them? Or named query is the best option I can use? 2) any other approaches how to make results retrieveng faster. I mean, for instance I don't need those Entities to be attached, I won't update them, all I need is just fetch collection of data. Maybe readOnly is the only available way, so I can't speed it up, but who knows :) P.S. I don't ask about DB performance, all I need now is how not to create query all the time, so use it efficient, and to "allow" EJB to do less job with the same result concerning data returning.

  • --log-slave-updates is OFF but some updates are still logged to the slave binary log?

    - by quanta
MySQL version 5.5.14 According to the document, by the default, slave does not log to its binary log any updates that are received from a master server. Here are my config. on the slave: # egrep 'bin|slave' /etc/my.cnf relay-log=mysqld-relay-bin log-bin = /var/log/mysql/mysql-bin binlog-format=MIXED sync_binlog = 1 log-bin-trust-function-creators = 1 mysql> show global variables like 'log_slave%'; +-------------------+-------+ | Variable_name | Value | +-------------------+-------+ | log_slave_updates | OFF | +-------------------+-------+ 1 row in set (0.01 sec) mysql> select @@log_slave_updates; +---------------------+ | @@log_slave_updates | +---------------------+ | 0 | +---------------------+ 1 row in set (0.00 sec) but slave still logs the some changes to its binary logs, let's see the file size: -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 37M Apr 1 01:00 /var/log/mysql/mysql-bin.001256 -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 25M Apr 2 01:00 /var/log/mysql/mysql-bin.001257 -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 46M Apr 3 01:00 /var/log/mysql/mysql-bin.001258 -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 115M Apr 4 01:00 /var/log/mysql/mysql-bin.001259 -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 105M Apr 4 18:54 /var/log/mysql/mysql-bin.001260 and the sample query when reading these binary files with mysqlbinlog utility: #120404 19:08:57 server id 3 end_log_pos 110324763 Query thread_id=382435 exec_time=0 error_code=0 SET TIMESTAMP=1333541337/*!*/; INSERT INTO norep_SplitValues VALUES ( NAME_CONST('cur_string',_utf8'118212' COLLATE 'utf8_general_ci')) /*!*/; # at 110324763 Did I miss something? Reply to @RolandoMySQLDBA: If replication brought this over, then the same query has to be in the relay logs. Please go find the relay log that has the INSERT query with the same TIMESTAMP (1333541337). There is no such query with the same TIMESTAMP in the relay logs. If you cannot find it in the relay logs, then look and see if Infobright is posting the INSERT query. In that instance, the INSERT should be recorded in the binary logs of the Slave. Looking more deeply into the binary logs, I see that almost of the queries are CREATE/INSERT/UPDATE/DROP "temporary" tables, something like this: # at 123873315 #120405 0:42:04 server id 3 end_log_pos 123873618 Query thread_id=395373 exec_time=0 error_code=0 SET TIMESTAMP=1333561324/*!*/; SET @@session.pseudo_thread_id=395373/*!*/; CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE `norep_tmpcampaign` ( `campaignid` INTEGER(11) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0' , `status` INTEGER(11) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0' , `updated` DATETIME, KEY `campaignid` (`campaignid`) )ENGINE=MEMORY /*!*/; # at 123873618 #120405 0:42:04 server id 3 end_log_pos 123873755 Query thread_id=395373 exec_time=0 error_code=0 SET TIMESTAMP=1333561324/*!*/; DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `norep_tmpcampaign1` /* generated by server */ "temporary" here means that they are dropped after calculation is done. • LINQ To SQL exception: Local sequence cannot be used in LINQ to SQL implementation of query operator

Consider this LINQ To SQL query. It's intention is to take a string[] of search terms and apply the terms to a bunch of different fields on the SQL table: string[] searchTerms = new string[] {"hello","world","foo"}; List<Cust> = db.Custs.Where(c => searchTerms.Any(st => st.Equals(c.Email)) || searchTerms.Any(st => st.Equals(c.FirstName)) || searchTerms.Any(st => st.Equals(c.LastName)) || searchTerms.Any(st => st.Equals(c.City)) || searchTerms.Any(st => st.Equals(c.Postal)) || searchTerms.Any(st => st.Equals(c.Phone)) || searchTerms.Any(st => c.AddressLine1.Contains(st)) ) .ToList(); An exception is raised: Local sequence cannot be used in LINQ to SQL implementation of query operators except the Contains() operator Question: Why is this exception raised, and how can the query be rewritten to avoid this exception?

  • Dynamic query runs directly but not through variable, what could be the reason?

    - by waheed
Here is my scenario, I'm creating a dynamic query using a select statement which uses functions to generate the query. I am storing it into a variable and running it using exec. i.e. declare @dsql nvarchar(max) set @dsql = '' select @dsql = @dsql + dbo.getDynmicQuery(column1, column2) from Table1 exec(@dsql) Now it produces the many errors in this scenario, like 'Incorrect syntax near ','' and 'Case expressions may only be nested to level 10.' But if i take the text from @dsql and assign it a variable manually like: declare @dsql nvarchar(max) set @dsql = '' set @dsql = N'<Dynamic query text>' exec(@dsql) it runs and generates the result, what could be the reason for that ?? Thanks..

  • the query is breaking. How to skip rows PHP

    - by Victor
Hello all. I have a question probably lame but it made me stuck I have the a db query $query_Recordset10 = "SELECT * FROM products WHERE razdel='mix' AND ID='$ID+1' AND litraj='$litri' ORDER BY ID ASC"; $Recordset10 = mysql_query($query_Recordset10, $victor) or die(mysql_error()); $row_Recordset10 = mysql_fetch_array($Recordset10); $totalRows_Recordset10 = mysql_num_rows($Recordset10); This is the query for the next product in the line based in the ID of the current product thats on the page. But if the next product matching the criteria in the query is 2 or more ID's ahead my cycle breaks. So is there a way for skipping this rows and get the next ID matching the criteria. Thank you very much.

  • How to get query result even if JOIN hasn't found any results?

    - by user1734651
I want select data for user, and join another info from other table that related to the user. The problem is that this extra data not always exist for any user, just for few. How can I write a query that will return NULL for not found data, instead just return null for the whole query? SELECT a.*, b.* FROM user AS a LEFT JOIN extra AS b ON (a.userid = b.userid) WHERE a.userid = {$userid} LIMIT 1 When extra data found for the user, I get the resource as expected. If not, I get NULL for the whole query. Bottom line, I don't care if "extra" exist for the user or not, if yes - select it as well, if not - ignore that.

I mean that when SSIS is installed on Windwos Server A, is SSIS able to query data from e.g. one folder containing text files in Windows Server B (under same domain)? I have used only SAP BO Data Integrator ETL tool and it cannot query flat files from another Server: during execution, all files must be located on the Job Server machine that executes the job.

  • SQL Server Query Editors - any that warn of number of rows to be changed?

    - by ciaranarcher
We're using SQL Server 2000 Query Analyser, and one issue we have is that very occasionally, when a user is updating our live database, they insert the incorrect/no(!) where clause. I know, not good, but it happens. Are there any editors that will warn of the number of rows that might be changed (if that is even possible) or even a way to configure an editor, if it is connected to a certain database, to prompt for confirmation before the query is run? We have a way to recover our data in the cases where we run an incorrect query, but it takes time, and I'm just seeing if there are any ways to catch the error, or at least give the user a second chance. Thanks in advance.

    - by JohnMetta
Using Entity Framework 4, and given: ObjectSet<Thing> AllThings = Context.CreateObjectSet<Thing>; public IQueryable<Thing> ByNameA(String name) { IQueryable<Thing> query = from o in AllThings where o.Name == name select o; return query; } public IQueryable<Thing> ByNameB(String name) { return AllThings.Where((o) => o.Name == name); } Both return IQueryable< instances, and thus the query doesn't hit the server until something like ToList() is called, right? Is it purely readability that is the difference, or are the using fundamentally different technologies on the back-end?

  • Entity Framework query builder methods: why "it" and not lambdas?

    - by nlawalker
I'm just getting started with EF and a query like the following strikes me as odd: var departmentQuery = schoolContext.Departments.Include("Courses"). OrderBy("it.Name"); Specifically, what sticks out to me is "it.Name." When I was tooling around with LINQ to SQL, pretty much every filter in a query-builder query could be specified with a lambda, like, in this case, d = d.Name. I see that there are overrides of OrderBy that take lambdas that return an IOrderedQueryable or an IOrderedEnumable, but those obviously don't have the Execute method needed to get the ObjectResult that can then be databound. It seems strange to me after all I've read about how lambdas make so much sense for this kind of stuff, and how they are translated into expression trees and then to a target language - why do I need to use "it.Name"?
