• How do I find out the expiry date of a SQL Server 2008 trial-install instance?

  So I installed a trial of SQL Server 2008 enterprise edition while waiting for MSDN licenses to come through - I now want to uninstall the trial and replace it with a developer edition installation. However, I'd like to first know how long I have left on the trial. Is there a way to do this programmatically with SQL? I looked at create_date in sys.databases, but these give dates that are in 2003 (which is, I guess, when master and model were originally created).

  While from version 5 on, Java provides many extremely useful features like annotations, enums, generics, etc., 1.4 is still in use in many enterprise projects. So I'm wondering what the chances are that you still have to work with 1.4, thus being forced to go without JPA, EJB3 etc. In your answer, please also state the branch of company you work for.   I would like to know the number of users logged into my ASP.NET 2.0 application. Points to be considered: 1) Simplest way would be to use Application or Cache object to have the counts on Session start or end. However this would fail if there is a worker process recycle. Wouldn't it? 2) Should't make a difference whether the session is inproc/state server managed/ or SQL server managed. 3) Should preferably be seamless to a web-farm architecture.

  hi, I want to learn hadoop. However, I don't have access to a cluster now. Is it possible for me to learn it and use it for writing programs and learn it properly. Would it be helpful to run multiple linux VMs and then use them as boxes to run hadoop? After paying a huge amount for a database, doing all the processing including batch at the app server and not using the power of the database seems to be a waste.   I am working on a solution that used DDD for architecture. I have a property in my ViewModel which points to a ValueObject, the view model also implements INotifyPropertyChanged interface. The value of the ValueObject will change as a user enters data on the front end. The problem I am running into is the value object is suppose to be immutable. How can I work around this issue? At what point do you no longer consider someone a beginner (ie knowledge of loops, encapsulation, instantiation), an intermediate (design patterns, reflection, delegates, interfaces) or an expert (architecture, multi-threadding). My rational for asking such a question is two-fold, first, when do I stop labeling my questions as beginner and during a job interview how should I categorize myself?
