  • Nvidia SLI Disabled on Windows 8. I installed thte Nvidia Windows 8 drivers

    Details I recently upgraded to Windows 8 Enterprise trial. After installing, I downloaded the Nvidia Windows 8 x64 install package, and it installed fine. After rebooting I got a message stating that SLI was disabled. And in the configuration menu the option to enable SLI is grayed out. I have confirmed the SLI is connected properly. Any thoughts?   • Why I can't open folders copied from Ubuntu on Windows?

    Is not possible for me to open whatever folder I copy from Ubuntu to my Windows partition or whatever usb memory. Windows says the folder's location is either disconnected or doesn't exist. Can't copy, cut or delete the folder on Windows but with Ubuntu I can. This happens even if I create the folder on the ntfs disc. I have never had this problem before. Files are openable however, but not if they are inside a folder. This started after I haven't made any other changes except for the update to kernel 3.2.0-30-generic, I am using 12.04, never installed Samba, after this problem started I tried to fix it by installing ntfs-3f, ntfsprogs, ntfs-config, but It didn't work.

    I have Windows Server 2012 Essentials and I'm trying to set up Anywhere Access so I can remotely access files.  This feature was really easy to access in Windows Home Server and I'm trying to duplicate that functionality here.   I've tried going through the Anywhere Access wizard several times but I can't get past the SSL Certificates step.  I don't want to purchase a certificate; is there any other way to enable remote file access?

  • Prevent Windows 7 PC from sleeping while a download is in progress

    While I'm downloading a large file on Windows 7 using Google Chrome, my computer goes to sleep. I could obviously set the computer to not sleep at all (or change the interval before the computer sleeps). What I want to know is: Is there a way to make Windows 7 not sleep as long as a download is in progress? (perhaps when any network activity is going on?). I've looked in the Advanced Power settings, and haven't seen any obvious setting.

  • Changing default playback device on Windows 8

    Previously, on Vista and Windows 7, changing the Default Playback device would occur instantly. For example, audio is coming out of my speakers, I right click the Volume Control, click Playback Devices then I select another device and click Set Default. Audio would be transferred immediately. Unfortunately, now, with Windows 8, I need to kill whatever process what outputting sound, and restart it for the change to take effect. Is there something that can be done about it so that changes are taken into account immediately?

Everything works nice however every time i boot into Windows7 the grub menu doesn't work any more. i can't boot into windows or ubuntu any more. How do I stop this? Its rather annoying to have to boot, chroot and fix this problem everytime.

Please mention the problems that may appear and explain how to avoid them. Ubuntu version that will be installed: 10.10 Desktop amd64 Please note that I have installed Windows 7 about a year ago, so I have much to lose if something goes wrong. I want to be very careful because there is no way for me to backup all the data.

    Are there any tools that can be used to connect to windows 2008 servers, and get a comparison of the installed patches/updates on the servers, showing what is installed on one and not on the other? This is to help isolate an issue we are seeing on a specific windows server, in a load balanced setup. However when trying to make a new partition, it makes it a Logical partition, not Primary. How to make it primary...?

Is it unable to infect files because of the different operating system? If you transfer files between computers (by using a usb flash drive or through online file sharing), is there any risk that the virus could be transferred to windows and activate?
