  • Using socket API on IPhone

    Hi, for a little project I have to do the following task on my IPhone: open a TCP socket send a command to the server shutdown the WRITE part of the connection read the response from the server close the connection I'm not experienced with socket programming - I've just started with network programming and I've already used the CFStream interface. But obviously streams are not adequate for this task. Who can point me in the right direction? I tried to find a tutorial on Apples website about sockets, but there is nothing. Regards, Thomas

  • C# Path Ellipsis without Win32 API call revisited

    I was searching for a way to insert an ellipsis in a C# path, and found an answer here on stackoverflow: http://tinyurl.com/y6rmdfr Using the RTM versions of VS2010 and .Net 4.0, I was unable to get the suggested method to work. I searched the 'Net and found example code that uses the same method, but it failed in the same way. You can see the string I'm trying to shorten in my code below. After calling the MeasureText method, both the input string (OriginalName) and the output string (ellipsisedName) look like this: d:\abcd\efgh\ijkl\mnop\qrst\...\test.txt\0F\GHIJ\KLMN\OPQR\STIV\WXYZ\test.txt Two problems: 1) The resulting string is narfed (the path is truncated as expected, but is followed by what looks like a C-style terminating null and a chunk of the original path). 2) My original string is changed to be identical to the output string.     The Document class have a getDoctype method but doesn't have a setDoctype. The documentation says: The DOM Level 2 does not support editing the Document Type Declaration. docType cannot be altered in any way, including through the use of methods inherited from the Node interface, such as insertNode or removeNode. and in my project I need to generate xml files with my specified doctypes. I've tryied to create my own DefaultNode, but it throws "DOMException: Method not supported" for the setters. Any idea?

  • MVC Design Question

    On a MVC 2 website what I want to do is get a list of products / CategoryId. From that list, create a list of distinct CategoryId's. Then randomly pick a categoryId from the second list and use it to get all the products for that categoryId. I then want to store that CategoryId so that I don't display those products on the next run. I don't need any code examples to start. What I'm wondering is that I think I would put this code in a class in my model (Dll) and store the list of displayed CategoryId's in session. Is this a good solution or should I go another way?     I am attempting to write a Facebook integration in an iPhone app I'm working on. I have it logging in just fine, but I don't like the idea of being able to turn a feature on without being able to turn it off.   • Mixing policy-based design with CRTP in C++

    I'm attempting to write a policy-based host class (i.e., a class that inherits from its template class), with a twist, where the policy class is also templated by the host class, so that it can access its types. One example where this might be useful is where a policy (used like a mixin, really), augments the host class with a polymorphic clone() method. I need to run a process and wait till execution of process and get the output of console. There is way to set RedirectStandardOutput and RedirectStandardError to true, however this does not function well on some machines, (where .NET SDK is not installed), only .NET runtime is installed, now it works on some machines and doesnt work on some machines so we dont know where is the problem. I have following code, ProcessStartInfo info = new ProcessStartInfo("myapp.exe", cmd); info.CreateNoWindow = true; info.UseShellExecute = false; info.RedirectStandardError = true; info.RedirectStandardOutput = true; Process p = Process.Start(info); p.WaitForExit(); Trace.WriteLine(p.StandardOutput.ReadToEnd()); Trace.WriteLine(p.StandardError.ReadToEnd()); On some machines, this will hang forever on p.WaitForExit(), and one some machine it works correctly, the behaviour is so random and there is no clue. Now if I can get a real good workaround for this using pinvoke, I will be very happy.

What I need is a version which handles this case as true. Possibly by applying a NVL or coalesce or similar. How do I do this?
