  • Why does bash invocation differ on AIX when using telnet vs ssh

    I am using an AIX 5.3 server with a .bashrc file set up to echo "Executing bashrc." When I log in to the server using ssh and run: bash -c ls I get: Executing bashrc . .. etc.... However, when I log in with telnet as the same user and run the same command I get: . .. etc.... Clearly in the telnet case, the .bashrc was not invoked. As near as I can tell this is the correct behaviour given that the shell is non-interactive in both cases (it is invoked with -c). However, the ssh case seems to be invoking the shell as interactive. It does not appear to be invoking the .profile, so it is not creating a login shell. I cannot see anything obviously different between the environments in the two cases. What could be causing the difference in bash behaviour?

  • jQuery AJAX call not working in Webkit

    I've run into a strange issue with Webkit based browsers (both Safari and Chrome - I'm testing on a Mac) and I am not sure what is causing it. If I remove this line: document.test.submit(); then it works, but of course the form is not submitted. I've tried changing the form submit button from "button" to "submit", but that also prevents it from working on Safari or Chrome. What I am trying to accomplish is: submit the form call another script to get status on the file being uploaded via the form (it's for a small upload progress meter). Any help is really appreciated - I'm hopeful it is just a quirk I'm not familiar with. Thanks! Brian

" + this.validator.form()); }, test_empty: function() { }, }); This code returns me the string Does the form validate? true This is a simplified version of my project of course, but the point is that I dont seem to be able to unit test the validation module im developing, since the jQuery validate plugin doesnt seem to work. What am I missing?

Opera also doesn't work so I assume it is the same problem. However, above code works just fine in IE 8, Chrome, and Safari. On localhost all of the above browsers work as expected including Firefox and Opera -- they all receive "Got ajax request!" as the response from the server. Anybody have any ideas what's going on here and how to fix it? I am looking for a real solution or at least explanation as to what is going on and why.

Well, shall we delve into all the reasons why eval() is evil? And also all the string concatenation... Not a solution to be labeled "elegant". One can never know the maximum n and thus how many cases to prepare. This also would strech the script to immense proportions and sin against the holy DRY principle. The script could get executed on older (pre- JavaScript 1.3 / ECMA-262-3) engines that don't support the apply() method. Now the question part: is there any another solution out there?

  • Sortable clone helper not working

    Maybe I don't understand how clone works with sortable, but here is what I would like to do. When sorting an item I would like a clone of the item I am dragging remain until I stop drop the item in its new position.   • How to get Mac OS X Terminal.app and screen/vim scrolling to play nice?

    OSX 10.6.3 Terminal.app Am a pretty dedicated screen user. Terminal.app line buffer and/or scroll does not seem to work for me. That is while in screen anything that goes past the top of the frame is gone, can't scroll back to. This seems to work ok in other terminal apps gnome, cygwin. Perhaps this is a shell env, config, or command? .screenrc: startup_message off autodetach on shell -$SHELL vbell off defutf8 on caption always caption string "%{= wk}%w" I have tried using defscrollback here with different values, but doesn't have an effect. some .bashrc settings: set -o physical export TERM=xterm-color shopt -s checkwinsize

  • Facebox with other jquery in it

    So I have facebox setup and it works. when I load an external page with a tab based navigation (JQuery too) the modal works but the nav doesnt. If it isnt clear I actually want the tabs to be inside the lightbox. And I also have php/mysql running inside the lightbox if that can change anything. I've created a simple page with a Select Widget, but it clearly needs some styling (element looks like plain text, and in the example below the menu items pop up beneath the button).   • JQuery Autocomplete plugin not working with JQuery 1.4.1

    I've been using the JQuery Autocomplete plugin with JQuery version 1.3.2, and it has been working great. I recently updated JQuery in my project to version 1.4.2, and the Autocomplete plugin is now broken. The JQuery code to add items to a textbox on my web page doesn't seem to be getting called at all. Does anyone know if the JQuery Autocomplete plugin is incompatible with JQuery version 1.4.2, and if there is a fix for this problem?   • error handler isn't called when file is uploaded via ajax using jQuery form plugin

    Here's my test case. If the form is posted, a 500 error response is sent. If not, the form is sent. If the file input tag is commented out, the error handler is called. If the file input tag is present, the error handler isn't called. I think this might have something to do with the fact that jQuery needs to use an iframe to handle the upload and iframes don't seem to respond to the error handler. Edit: If I add iframe: true to the options passed to ajaxSubmit to force the use of an iframe, the non-file-upload case stops working also, so it definitely has to do with the iframe.     I have a form which is essentially an autocomplete input box. I can get this to work perfectly for a single text box. What I need to do is create unique input boxes by using a php for loop. This will use the counter $i to give each input box a unique name and id. The problem is that the unique value of the input box needs to be passed to the javascript. this will then pass the inputted data to the external php page and return the mysql results. In all cases I've been unable to get the handle to move. It also seems to have a width of 1px or similar.
