  • OSGI classcast exception on felix

    Hi, i'm fairly new to osgi and am trying to get a functional proof of concept together. The setup is that my common api is created in a bundle creatively named common-api.jar with no bundle activator, but it exports all it's interfaces. the one of interest in this situation is DatabaseService.java. I then have a Second bundle called systemx-database-service. That implements the database service interface. this works fine as in the activator of the implementation bundle i test the connection to the database and select some arbitraty values. I also register the service i want to be available to the other bundle's like so: context.registerService(DatabaseService.class.getName(), new SystemDatabaseServiceImpl(context), new Properties()); The basic idea being when you look for a service reference for a Database service you'll get back the SystemDatabaseService implementation. When i do a inspect service the output it this: -> inspect s c 69 System Database Service (69) provides services: ---------------------------------------------- objectClass = za.co.xxx.xxx.common.api.DatabaseService service.id = 39 which would lead me to believe that if i do this in a test bundle: context.getService(context.getServiceReference(DatabaseService.class)); i should get back an instance of DatabaseService.class, but alas no such luck. it simply seems like it cannot find the service. stick with me here my story gets stranger. figuring there is no where to go but up i wrote this monstrosity: for (Bundle bundle : bundles) { if (bundle.getSymbolicName().equals("za.co.xxx.xxx.database-service")) { ServiceReference[] registeredServices = bundle.getRegisteredServices(); for (ServiceReference ref : registeredServices) { DatabaseService service = (DatabaseService) context.getService(ref); // use service here. } } } } now i can actually see the service reference, but i get this error java.lang.ClassCastException: za.co.xxx.xxx.database.service.impl.SystemDatabaseServiceImpl cannot be cast to za.co.xxx.xx.common.api.DatabaseService which is crazy since the implementation clearly implements the interface! Any help would be appreciated. Please keep in mind i'm very new at the osgi way of thinking so my whole approach here might be flawed. oh. if anyone wants the manifests i can post them. and i'm using the maven-bnd-plugin to build and executing on felix. thanks Nico

  • Microphones not working on Apple macbook Air 1,1 (Early 2008) under Linux

    I'm running Linux on an mba. I can't make the microphones (neither external nor internal) work. I test using alsamixer and arecord -d 5 test-mic.waw together with aplay test-mic.waw It seems there is a problem with kernel trying to decipher Apple (intentionally) corrupted 'bios', in particular the mic pins are wrongly assigned. As far as we are concerned here, is there any difference between using EFI and BIOS-compatibility mode? (see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/MacBook where they claim to have everything working out of the box on mba1,1) A nice proposal would be to compile the latest Linux kernel and run hda-jack-retask to find the right configuration (in the case of Realtek codec, the missing things I'm supposed to check are either some vendor-specific COEF verbs, EAPD or GPIO setup.), and then come up with a kernel patch to address the issue. Since I'm not that familiar with this last part of the story, can anyone help me through this process? I notic the task options api can add a parameter as a byte[] but I'm unsure how to use it. 1) How would I serialize my object to a byte[]? and 2) How would the task read the byte[] and reconstruct the original object?   • 802.11n Audio Interference

    Symptoms My audio is riddled with pops/crackles/glitches. Sometimes I swear the glitches sound exactly like the facebook messenger sound (best comparison I can give). Cause Using DPC Latency Checker, it reports the latency to be an abysmal 17,500µs (0.0175s). The first thing I did was disable my 802.11n wireless adapter. This immediately dropped the latency to a nice 250µs. When I re-enabled the adapter, it jumped right back up. I'm 99% certain that this is the cause of my audio glitches. Solution What can I do about it besides using wired Ethernet or buying a whole new adapter? My adapter is a Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card. To be honest, I've had nothing but trouble with the 802.11n standard and am contemplating just going back to g.

I've gotten most of it converted correctly, but I am still getting an error at runtime with the following line involving delegation to a C# file that is in the API (SFSEvent.cs). When I physically install the card I put it into a purple slot on the motherboard that the old card was in (if I go into the device manager and select properties on the current card it confirms that the slot is a "PCI Slot 16 (PCI bus 2, device 0, function 0)") and boot up the computer but get absolutely no output. The screen that we have registers that it is connected to something (by not displaying the screen it does when the cable is unplugged) but just remains blank, no output at all. I recently took the card to my University and one of my friends who is better with hardware issues than I am tried it in his system and it worked perfectly. No issues whatsoever. I do not have a spec list for his system but I could get one if you need it. If you need any more information on this issue I will be happy to supply you with it as I am starting to get very annoyed with this problem ^_^

  • How to fix choppy video with VLC player?

    When playing most movies in VLC player, the video feed is choppy. Furthermore, the sound is near perfect. Another catch is, this video issue wasn't always an issue. I use to play movies with no problem with video or sound. I can not pin point what has changed between the it use to work fine and the time it started being choppy though. I have an ASUS G73JW-A1. This system should be more than enough to handle the demand of playing HD videos. Movies that are normally effected are HD videos. These video range from 4 to 9 gigs. In addition, the videos are in MKV, MP4 (or M4V), and AVCHD (or M2TS) formats. I get the same results when playing move directly off my hard drive or off an external. Finally, all the drivers have been recently checked and updated if needed.

  • Music but no voices on headphones

    I have a laptop with Windows 7 and I have headphones for a couple of months, and only recently they started to play only the music, while the voices are there, but just very faint. I tried to connect them to another computer (PC, windows XP) and they worked fine, which made me think the problem isn't with the headphones but with the laptop. I've searched online and found a few solutions, none of the seemed to work. Such as: plugging in and out my jack until you can hear better, checking the headphones on other computers. Other relevant info: The headphones come with a mic if I right click the sound icon - sound devices. Then I dont see any 'headphones', not even if I tell it to show disabled devices. All I see is a 'speakers' icon, yet it's there even if the headphones are disconnected, and is always active. So if anyone has any idea I'd appreciate it :) Thanks!

  • Windows 7 does not recognize hdmi audio output

    I recently upgraded to Windows 7 on a Dell 545 MT with audio/video output via nVidia 9800 GTX+ to a flat screen television. I have installed/uninstalled/reinstalled all the most recent drivers from nVidia & realtek, but the machine will not recognize the hdmi output as a sound device (as it did previously in Vista). I troubleshot the problem with Dell for over an hour and was then directed to their software specialists who want $130 to fix the issue! Can anyone offer some insights on this? I've searched nVidia and Windows 7 forums w/o success and would really like to get sound coming back through my tv speakers. Many Thanks.
