  • use Ghostscript to convert pcl to postscript

    So I want to use Ghostscript to convert files that are created in pcl format to postscript. That's the gist of my problem. I am simply trying to run it on the command line, but in the final stage it will have to be run on a lp command like lp -d < gs something something GPL Ghostscript 9.00 (2010-09-14) I will be running this on a solaris 10 server but I believe any unix system should work similar. bash-3.00# /usr/local/bin/gs -sDEVICE=pswrite -dLanguageLevel=1 -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -dSAFER -sOutputFile=output.ps cms-form.pcl GPL Ghostscript 9.00 (2010-09-14) Copyright (C) 2010 Artifex Software, Inc. • Android shared library which is not JNI based

    - by Mondain
    I am developing a library for Android applications which does not use native code (JNI). I have tried suppling the library as an external jar in my Android projects but this method does not include the library contents in the apk and thus throws class not found errors when run in the emulator or device. I have also tried creating the library as an Android project in itself and this does work, but only for public static properties (not methods). With the library and application both being in separate apk's I can see that the VM notices references to the library and can read some properties, but when an attempt to instantiate a class in the library is executed I get class not found even though I can read the public static properties from it (very frustrating!!). I realize that Davlik byte code is not the same as Java byte code but I am having trouble even finding good information about how to solve what would seem to be a very simple issue in Android. I am looking into the old PlatformLibrary stuff right now but I am not convinced this will work either since the sample has been removed from the Android site :( So help me out if you can, if I find the answer before this happens I will share it. viva la Android!

  • [java] Returning the element number of the longest string in an array

    - by JohnRoberts
    Hoookay, so. I'm trying to get the longestS method to take the user-inputted array of strings, then return the element number of the longest string in that array. I got it to the point where I was able to return the number of chars in the longest string, but I don't believe that will work for what I need. My problem is that I keep getting incompatible type errors when trying to figure this out. I don't understand the whole data type thing with strings yet. It's confusing me how I go about return a number of the array yet the array is of strings. The main method is fine, I got stuck on the ???? part. { public static void main(String [] args) { Scanner inp = new Scanner( System.in ); String [] responseArr= new String[4]; for (int i=0; i<4; i++) { System.out.println("Enter string "+(i+1)); responseArr[i] = inp.nextLine(); } int highest=longestS(responseArr); } public static int longestS(String[] values) { int largest=0 for( int i = 1; i < values.length; i++ ) { if ( ????? ) } return largest; } }

  • Google AppEngine + Local JUnit Tests + Jersey framework + Embedded Jetty

    - by xamde
    I use Google Appengine for Java (GAE/J). On top, I use the Jersey REST-framework. Now i want to run local JUnit tests. The test sets up the local GAE development environment ( http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/java/tools/localunittesting.html ), launches an embedded Jetty server, and then fires requests to the server via HTTP and checks responses. Unfortunately, the Jersey/Jetty combo spawns new threads. GAE expects only one thread to run. In the end, I end up having either no datstore inside the Jersey-resources or multiple, having different datastore. As a workaround I initialise the GAE local env only once, put it in a static variable and inside the GAE resource I add many checks (This threads has no dev env? Re-use the static one). And these checks should of course only run inside JUnit tests.. (which I asked before: "How can I find out if code is running inside a JUnit test or not?" - I'm not allowed to post the link directly here :-|)

  • What is the difference between calling Stream.Write and using a StreamWriter?

    - by John Nelson
    What is the difference between instantiating a Stream object, such as MemoryStream and calling the memoryStream.Write() method to write to the stream, and instantiating a StreamWriter object with the stream and calling streamWriter.Write()? Consider the following scenario: You have a method that takes a Stream, writes a value, and returns it. The stream is read from later on, so the position must be reset. There are two possible ways of doing it (both seem to work). // Instantiate a MemoryStream somewhere // - Passed to the following two methods MemoryStream memoryStream = new MemoryStream(); // Not using a StreamWriter private static Stream WriteToStream(Stream stream, string value) { stream.Write(Encoding.Default.GetBytes(value), 0, value.Length); stream.Flush(); stream.Position = 0; return stream; } // Using a StreamWriter private static Stream WriteToStreamWithWriter(Stream stream, string value) { StreamWriter sw = new StreamWriter(stream); sw.Write(value, 0, value.Length); sw.Flush(); stream.Position = 0; return stream; } This is partially a scope problem, as I don't want to close the stream after writing to it since it will be read from later. I also certainly don't want to dispose it either, because that will close my stream. The difference seems to be that not using a StreamWriter introduces a direct dependency on Encoding.Default, but I'm not sure that's a very big deal. What's the difference, if any?

  • search algorithm using sentinel

    - by davit-datuashvili
    i am trying to do search algorithm using sentinel which reduce time to 3.87n nanoseconds for example compare to this code int search (int t ){ for (int i=0;i<n;i++) if (x[i]==t) return i; return -1; } it takes 4.06 nanoseconds so i am trying to optimize it here is code public class Search{ public static int search(int a[],int t){ int i; int p=0; int n=a.length; int hold; hold=a[n-1]; a[n-1]=t; for ( i=0;;i++) if (a[i]==t) break; a[n-1]=t; if (i==n){ p= -1; } else{ p= i; } return p; } public static void main(String[]args){ int t=-1; int a[]=new int[]{4,5,2,6,8,7,9}; System.out.println(search(a,t)); } } but is show me that 9 is at position 6 which is correct but if t =1 or something else which is not array it show me position 6 too please help

  • iOS Cell Label link

    - by hart1994
    Hi I am new to iOS programming and I need a little help. I have a table view cell which is populated by data from a .plist file. I need to be able to make a link within one of the cells. How could I do this? Here is the code which is loading the data into the cells: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"CustomTableCell"; static NSString *CellNib = @"DetailViewCell"; DetailViewCell *cell = (DetailViewCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { NSArray *nib = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:CellNib owner:self options:nil]; cell = (DetailViewCell *)[nib objectAtIndex:0]; } cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone; cell.cellTitleLabel.textColor = [UIColor blackColor]; cell.cellTitleLabel.font = [UIFont systemFontOfSize:20.0]; cell.cellSubtitleLabel.textColor = [UIColor darkGrayColor]; informations = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:@"City", @"Country", @"State", @"History", @"Link", nil]; subtitles = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:titleString, subtitleString, stateString, populationString, @"Link", nil]; cell.cellTitleLabel.text = [informations objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.cellSubtitleLabel.text = [subtitles objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; return (DetailViewCell *) cell; } For the cell "Link" I need it to open a url which is stored in the .plist file. How could i do this? Many thanks Ryan PS: I'm a newbie at this stuff, so be descriptive. Thanks

  • Problem with generic list and extension method(C#3.0)

    - by Newbie
    I have an issue. I am making an extension class for a Collection and it is generic.. like public static class ListExtensions { public static ICollection<T> Search<T>(this ICollection<T> collection, string stringToSearch) { ICollection<T> t1=null; foreach (T t in collection) { Type k = t.GetType(); PropertyInfo pi = k.GetProperty("Name"); if (pi.GetValue(t,null).Equals(stringToSearch)) { t1.Add(t); } } return t1; } } But I cannot add items to t1 as it is declared null. Error: object reference not set to an instance of the object. I am calling the method like List<TestClass> listTC = new List<TestClass>(); listTC.Add(new TestClass { Name = "Ishu", Age = 21 }); listTC.Add(new TestClass { Name = "Vivek", Age = 40 }); listTC.Add(new TestClass { Name = "some one else", Age = 12 }); listTC.Search("Ishu"); And the test class is public class TestClass { public string Name { get; set; } public int Age { get; set; } } Using : (C#3.0) & Framework - 3.5 Thanks

  • I can not get the text from a selected item in a listview...pleeeeasss help.

    - by Miguel
    I always get an ClassCastException error... i do not what else to do... - I'm using a data biding concept to populated the listview from a sqlite3 database. - I just want to get the selected item text after a long press click. This is the code of the activity: public class ItemConsultaGastos extends ListActivity { private DataHelper dh ; TextView seleccion; private static String[] FROM = {DataHelper.MES, DataHelper.ANO}; private static int[] TO = {R.id.columnaMes, R.id.columnaAno }; public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.muestrafechas); this.dh = new DataHelper(this); Cursor cursor = dh.selectAllMeses(); startManagingCursor(cursor); this.mostrarFechas(cursor); ListView lv = getListView(); lv.setOnItemLongClickListener(new OnItemLongClickListener(){ @Override public boolean onItemLongClick(AdapterView<?> arg0, View arg1,int row, long arg3) { //here is where i got the classCastException. String[] tmp = (String[]) arg0.getItemAtPosition(row); //tmp[0] ist the Text of the first TextView displayed by the clicked ListItem Log.w("Gastos: ", "El texto: " + tmp[0].toString()); return true; } }); } private void mostrarFechas(Cursor cursor) { SimpleCursorAdapter adapter = new SimpleCursorAdapter(this,R.layout.muestrafechasitem,cursor, FROM, TO); setListAdapter(adapter); } } ///// This is the xml where a define the rows to show on the listview <TextView android:id="@+id/espacio" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text=" " /> <TextView android:id="@+id/columnaAno" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textSize="20sp" android:layout_toRightOf="@+id/espacio"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/separador1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text=" -- " android:layout_toRightOf="@+id/columnaAno" android:textSize="20sp" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/columnaMes" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_toRightOf="@+id/separador1" android:textSize="20sp"/>

  • Improve this generic abstract class

    - by Keivan
    I have the following abstract class design, I was wondering if anyone can suggest any improvements in terms of stronger enforcement of our requirements or simplifying implementing of the ControllerBase. //Dependency Provider base public abstract class ControllerBase<TContract, TType> where TType : TContract, class { public static TContract Instance { get { return ComponentFactory.GetComponent<TContract, TType>(); } } public TContract GetComponent<TContract, TType>() where TType : TContract, class { component = (TType)Activator.CreateInstance(typeof(TType), true); RegisterComponentInstance<TContract>(component); } } //Contract public interface IController { void DoThing(); } //Actual Class Logic public class Controller: ControllerBase<IController,Controller> { public void DoThing(); //internal constructor internal Controller(){} } //Usage public static void Main() { Controller.Instance.DoThing(); } The following facts should always be true, TType should always implement TContract (Enforced using a generic constraint) TContract must be an interface (Can't find a way to enforce it) TType shouldn't have public constructor, just an internal one, is there any way to Enforce that using ControllerBase? TType must be an concrete class (Didn't include New() as a generic constrain since the constructors should be marked as Internal)

  • How does one force construction of a global object in a statically linked library? [MSVC9]

    - by Peter C O Johansson
    I have a global list of function pointers. This list should be populated at startup. Order is not important and there are no dependencies that would complicate static initialization. To facilitate this, I've written a class that adds a single entry to this list in its constructor, and scatter global instances of this class via a macro where necessary. One of the primary goals of this approach is to remove the need for explicitly referencing every instance of this class externally, instead allowing each file that needs to register something in the list to do it independently. Nice and clean. However, when placing these objects in a static library, the linker discards (or rather never links in) these units because no code in them is explicitly referenced. Explicitly referencing symbols in the compilation units would be counterproductive, directly contradicting one of the main goals of the approach. For the same reason, /INCLUDE is not an acceptable option, and /OPT:NOREF is not actually related to this problem. Metrowerks has a __declspec directive for it, GCC has -force_load, but I cannot find any equivalent for MSVC.

  • GWT - problems with constants in css

    - by hba
    Hi, I'm new to GWT; I'm building a small sample app. I have several CSS files. I'm able to successfully use the ClientBundle and CssResource to assign styles to the elements defined in my UiBinder script. Now I'd like to take it one step further and introduce CSS constants using @def css-rule. The @def works great when I define a constant and use it in the same CSS file. However I cannot use it in another CSS file. When I try to use the @eval rule to evaluate an existing constant the compiler throws an execption: "cannot make a static reference to the non-static method ". Here is an example of what I'm trying to do: ConstantStyle.css @def BACKGROUND red; ConstantStyle.java package abc; import ...; interface ConstantStyle extends cssResource { String BACKGROUND(); } MyStyle.css @eval BACKGROUND abc.ConstantStyle.BACKGROUND(); .myClass {background-color: BACKGROUND;} MyStyle.java package abc; import ...; interface ConstantStyle extends cssResource { String myClass; } MyResources.java package abc; import ...; interface MyResources extends ClientBundle { @Source("ConstantStyle.css") ConstantStyle constantStyle(); @Source("MyStyle.css") MyStyle myStyle(); } Thanks in advance!

  • Have you dealt with space hardening?

    - by Tim Post
    I am very eager to study best practices when it comes to space hardening. For instance, I've read (though I can't find the article any longer) that some core parts of the Mars rovers did not use dynamic memory allocation, in fact it was forbidden. I've also read that old fashioned core memory may be preferable in space. I was looking at some of the projects associated with the Google Lunar Challenge and wondering what it would feel like to get code on the moon, or even just into space. I know that space hardened boards offer some sanity in such a harsh environment, however I'm wondering (as a C programmer) how I would need to adjust my thinking and code if I was writing something that would run in space? I think the next few years might show more growth in private space companies, I'd really like to at least be somewhat knowledgeable regarding best practices. Can anyone recommend some books, offer links to papers on the topic or (gasp) even a simulator that shows you what happens to a program if radiation, cold or heat bombards a board that sustained damage to its insulation? I think the goal is keeping humans inside of a space craft (as far as fixing or swapping stuff) and avoiding missions to fix things. Furthermore, if the board maintains some critical system, early warnings seem paramount.

  • Unusual heap size limitations in VS2003 C++

    - by Shane MacLaughlin
    I have a C++ app that uses large arrays of data, and have noticed while testing that it is running out of memory, while there is still plenty of memory available. I have reduced the code to a sample test case as follows; void MemTest() { size_t Size = 500*1024*1024; // 512mb if (Size > _HEAP_MAXREQ) TRACE("Invalid Size"); void * mem = malloc(Size); if (mem == NULL) TRACE("allocation failed"); } If I create a new MFC project, include this function, and run it from InitInstance, it works fine in debug mode (memory allocated as expected), yet fails in release mode (malloc returns NULL). Single stepping through release into the C run times, my function gets inlined I get the following // malloc.c void * __cdecl _malloc_base (size_t size) { void *res = _nh_malloc_base(size, _newmode); RTCCALLBACK(_RTC_Allocate_hook, (res, size, 0)); return res; } Calling _nh_malloc_base void * __cdecl _nh_malloc_base (size_t size, int nhFlag) { void * pvReturn; // validate size if (size > _HEAP_MAXREQ) return NULL; ' ' And (size _HEAP_MAXREQ) returns true and hence my memory doesn't get allocated. Putting a watch on size comes back with the exptected 512MB, which suggests the program is linking into a different run-time library with a much smaller _HEAP_MAXREQ. Grepping the VC++ folders for _HEAP_MAXREQ shows the expected 0xFFFFFFE0, so I can't figure out what is happening here. Anyone know of any CRT changes or versions that would cause this problem, or am I missing something way more obvious?

  • Async WebRequest Timeout Windows Phone 7

    - by Tyler
    Hi All, I'm wondering what the "right" way of timing out an HttpWebRequest is on Windows Phone7? I've been reading about ThreadPool.RegisterWaitForSingleObject() but this can't be used as WaitHandles throw a Not implemented exception at run time. I've also been looking at ManualReset events but A) Don't understand them properly and B) Don't understand how blocking the calling thread is an acceptable way to implement a time out on an Async request. Here's my existing code sans timeout, can someone please show me how I would add a timeout to this? public static void Get(Uri requestUri, HttpResponseReceived httpResponseReceivedCallback, ICredentials credentials, object userState, bool getResponseAsString = true, bool getResponseAsBytes = false) { var httpWebRequest = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(requestUri); httpWebRequest.Method = "GET"; httpWebRequest.Credentials = credentials; var httpClientRequestState = new JsonHttpClientRequestState(null, userState, httpResponseReceivedCallback, httpWebRequest, getResponseAsString, getResponseAsBytes); httpWebRequest.BeginGetResponse(ResponseReceived, httpClientRequestState); } private static void ResponseReceived(IAsyncResult asyncResult) { var httpClientRequestState = asyncResult.AsyncState as JsonHttpClientRequestState; Debug.Assert(httpClientRequestState != null, "httpClientRequestState cannot be null. • C++. How to define template parameter of type T for class A when class T needs a type A template parameter?

    - by jaybny
    Executor class has template of type P and it takes a P object in constructor. Algo class has a template E and also has a static variable of type E. Processor class has template T and a collection of Ts. Question how can I define Executor< Processor<Algo> > and Algo<Executor> ? Is this possible? I see no way to defining this, its kind of an "infinite recursive template argument" See code. template <class T> class Processor { map<string,T> ts; void Process(string str, int i) { ts[str].Do(i); } } template <class P> class Executor { Proc &p; Executor(P &p) : Proc(p) {} void Foo(string str, int i) { p.Process(str,i); } Execute(string str) { } } template <class E> class Algo { static E e; void Do(int i) {} void Foo() { e.Execute("xxx"); } } main () { typedef Processor<Algo> PALGO; // invalid typedef Executor<PALGO> EPALGO; typedef Algo<EPALGO> AEPALGO; Executor<PALGO> executor(PALGO()); AEPALGO::E = executor; }

  • Accessing the value of an input element with XPath in an XSLT

    - by asymmetric
    Hi! I'm developing a web app that has a button that triggers an XSLT transformation of the document DOM, with a stylesheet fetched via AJAX. Here's a portion of the HTML: <html> <head> <title>Static Javascript-based XMR Form Creator</title> </head> <body> <h1 id="title">Static Javascript-based XMR Form Creator</h1> <div class="opt_block" id="main_opts"> Form name <input type="text" id="form_name" /> Form cols <input type="text" id="form_cols" size="3" maxlength="3" /> </div> <button id="generate">Generate source</button> <textarea rows="20" cols="50" id="xmr_source" ></textarea> </body> Inside the stylesheet, I want to access the value attribute of the first input field, the one with id form_name. The XSLT looks like this: <xsl:template match="/html/body/div[@id = 'main_opts']" > <form> <xsl:attribute name="fname"> <xsl:value-of select="input[@id = 'form_name']/@value" /> </xsl:attribute> </form> </xsl:template> The problem is that the XPath that should do the work: <xsl:value-of select="input[@id = 'form_name']/@value" /> returns nothing.   • Compiler turning a string& into a basic_string<>&

    - by Shtong
    Hello I'm coming back to C++ after long years spent on other technologies and i'm stuck on some weird behavior when calling some methods taking std::string as parameters : An example of call : LocalNodeConfiguration *LocalNodeConfiguration::ReadFromFile(std::string & path) { // ... throw configuration_file_error(string("Configuration file empty"), path); // ... } When I compile I get this (I cropped file names for readability) : /usr/bin/g++ -g -I/home/shtong/Dev/OmegaNoc/build -I/usr/share/include/boost-1.41.0 -o CMakeFiles/OmegaNocInternals.dir/configuration/localNodeConfiguration.cxx.o -c /home/shtong/Dev/OmegaNoc/source/configuration/localNodeConfiguration.cxx .../localNodeConfiguration.cxx: In static member function ‘static OmegaNoc::LocalNodeConfiguration* OmegaNoc::LocalNodeConfiguration::ReadFromFile(std::string&)’: .../localNodeConfiguration.cxx:72: error: no matching function for call to ‘OmegaNoc::configuration_file_error::configuration_file_error(std::string, std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> >&)’ .../configurationManager.hxx:25: note: candidates are: OmegaNoc::configuration_file_error::configuration_file_error(std::string&, std::string&) .../configurationManager.hxx:22: note: OmegaNoc::configuration_file_error::configuration_file_error(const OmegaNoc::configuration_file_error&) So as I understand it, the compiler is considering that my path parameter turned into a basic_string at some point, thus not finding the constructor overload I want to use. But I don't really get why this transformation happened. Some search on the net suggested me to use g++ but I was already using it. So any other advice would be appreciated :) Thanks

    import java.lang.reflect.Array; public class PrimitiveArrayGeneric { static <T> T[] genericArrayNewInstance(Class<T> componentType) { return (T[]) Array.newInstance(componentType, 0); } public static void main(String args[]) { int[] intArray; Integer[] integerArray; intArray = (int[]) Array.newInstance(int.class, 0); // Okay! integerArray = genericArrayNewInstance(Integer.class); // Okay! intArray = genericArrayNewInstance(int.class); // Compile time error: // cannot convert from Integer[] to int[] integerArray = genericArrayNewInstance(int.class); // Run time error: // ClassCastException: [I cannot be cast to [Ljava.lang.Object; } } I'm trying to fully understand how generics works in Java. Things get a bit weird for me in the 3rd assignment in the above snippet: the compiler is complaining that Integer[] cannot be converted to int[]. The statement is 100% true, of course, but I'm wondering WHY the compiler is making this complaint. If you comment that line, and follow the compiler's "suggestion" as in the 4th assignment, the compiler is actually satisfied!!! NOW the code compiles just fine! Which is crazy, of course, since like the run time behavior suggests, int[] cannot be converted to Object[] (which is what T[] is type-erased into at run time). So my question is: why is the compiler "suggesting" that I assign to Integer[] instead for the 3rd assignment? How does the compiler reason to arrive to that (erroneous!) conclusion?

  • Error while reading custom configuration file(app.config)

    - by Newbie
    I am making a custom configuration in my winform application. (It will represent a country-corrency list) First the CountryList class namespace UtilityMethods { public class CountryList : ConfigurationSection { public CountryList() { // // TODO: Add constructor logic here // } [ConfigurationProperty("CountryCurrency", IsRequired = true)] public Hashtable CountryCurrencies { get { return CountryCurrency.GetCountryCurrency(); } } } } The GetCountryCurrency() method is defined in CountryCurrency class as under namespace UtilityMethods { public static class CountryCurrency { public static Hashtable GetCountryCurrency() { Hashtable ht = new Hashtable(); ht.Add("India", "Rupees"); ht.Add("USA", "Dollar"); return ht; } } } The app.config file looks like <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <configSections> <section name ="CountryList1" type ="UtilityMethods.CountryList,CountryList,Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral"/> </configSections> <appSettings /> </configuration> And I am calling this from a button_click's event as try { CountryList cList = ConfigurationManager.GetSection("CountryList") as CountryList; Hashtable ht = cList.CountryCurrencies; } catch (Exception ex) { string h = ex.Message; } Upon running the application and clicking on the button I am getting this error Could not load type 'UtilityMethods.CountryList' from assembly 'System.Configuration, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' Please help (dotnet framework : 3.5 Language: C#)

  • javascript :Object doesn't support this property or method

    - by Kaushik
    In my jsp page, I have in the tag, the following code: <script type="text/javascript" src="<%=request.getContextPath()%>/static/js/common/common.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> // Function for Suppressing the JS Error function silentErrorHandler() {return true;} window.onerror=silentErrorHandler; </script> If there is some javascript executing on the jsp page after this, then I guess silentErrorHandler() will have no effect. i.e. the error will still show on page. IS this correct? Because the error is showing and am not sure why. The second part of the question is this: The error is Webpage error details User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; InfoPath.2; AskTbFXTV5/5.9.1.14019) Timestamp: Fri, 7 Jan 2011 21:26:23 UTC Message: Object doesn't support this property or method Line: 613 Char: 1 Code: 0 URI: http://localhost:9080/Claris/static/js/common/common.js And finally, line 613 states document.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEUP); There is error on IE8. • Algorithm complexity question

    - by Itsik
    During a recent job interview, I was asked to give a solution to the following problem: Given a string s (without spaces) and a dictionary, return the words in the dictionary that compose the string. For example, s= peachpie, dic= {peach, pie}, result={peach, pie}. I will ask the the decision variation of this problem: if s can be composed of words in the dictionary return yes, otherwise return no. My solution to this was in backtracking (written in Java) public static boolean words(String s, Set<String> dictionary) { if ("".equals(s)) return true; for (int i=0; i <= s.length(); i++) { String pre = prefix(s,i); // returns s[0..i-1] String suf = suffix(s,i); // returns s[i..s.len] if (dictionary.contains(pre) && words(suf, dictionary)) return true; } return false; } public static void main(String[] args) { Set<String> dic = new HashSet<String>(); dic.add("peach"); dic.add("pie"); dic.add("1"); System.out.println(words("peachpie1", dic)); // true System.out.println(words("peachpie2", dic)); // false } What is the time complexity of this solution? I'm calling recursively in the for loop, but only for the prefix's that are in the dictionary. Any idea's?
