Exporting to pdf and excel is working fine with me. The only thing now I need is to paging the reports. I want to add something like " go to page No ..." and the user will click the page no.   I have just started working on asp.net mvc and jqgrid. I have a calendar which returns a date, a multiselect list box and apply filter button outside of the grid. Is there a way to pass these filter values to the server-side actionresult GridData() based on the selected date and multiple selected values and also it persist while paging or sorting. public ActionResult GridData(string sidx, string sord, int? page, int? rows, Collection categoryOptions,string fromDate) {..} Thanks!

• Slow SQLite access on iPhone

  I have a quite slow data retrieval from a sqlite database on my iPhone and perhaps someone have an alternative idea to explain this. From what I tracked down so far sqlite3_step(statement) is sometimes unusually slow. While retrieving e.g. 50 rows from the database to execute this step takes normally some milliseconds but sometimes it takes several seconds. My database is not small (80MB) and my theory is that the reason is paging. But can someone else think of an other reason for this?

  Hey, So I have a gridview which lists a bunch of jobs. On this gridview I have paging enabled, which works fine. When I hover over the Page Numbers i.e 1,2,3,4,.... the following is displayed javascript_DoPostBack('C100PlaceHolderGrievew','Page$1') Now my problem is as follows. When I click on one of the hyperlinks in this list i go to an edit details page. Once the user clicks on save I redirect the user back to the List page with gridview. What I would like to implement is that the gridview remembers what page they came from i.e Page 2. I know i can Use PageIndex to set this but Im not sure how to send across the value of "page" of the gridview so i can this.

Using HtmlUnit, I am currently getting the HtmlAnchor on the page using getByAnchorText("1"); There is a problem in some of the links on the top, so I want to reference the bottom links using XPath. nextPageAnchor = (HtmlAnchor) page.getByXPath(""); How can I reference the 2nd link on the page, with using xpath? I need to reference the link using the AnchorText, so a link like: <a href="....">33</a> The href has random text, and is a javascript function so I have no idea what it will be. Is this possible with xpath?

  When using a nosql type datastore like Cassandra, how would you return a result set based on a column? e.g. SELECT * FROM Articles WHERE category='blah' ORDER BY datetime DESC is this something that you would store in a sql db and then pull the data from cassandra? Or can cassandra handle this type of query? (assuming millions of rows in a db) From what I understand, cassandra is great at key based lookups, confused if it can and should be used for getting a list of data back and paging that data also (and if it is highly performant)

  We are building a website that contains a large number of database tables that need to be edited by the CMS administrator. Some of the tables are fed by form submissions from users on the front end of the website. Some of the tables are purely in the CMS and are used to create custom modules on the front end of the website. Although there is a forms module in Drupal, I think our requirements cannot be met by it. Does anyone know of a system that allows forms to be saved to a CRUD style database with the following features? Export of all database fields. View a summary of the records in a filterable table. With paging You can have one to many relationships in records eg To code this manually for 10 forms is A LOT of work. Particularly the one to many relationships. If there is a powerful module available it would save us writing one.

• Filtering List Data with a jQuery-searchFilter Plugin

  When dealing with list based data on HTML forms, filtering that data down based on a search text expression is an extremely useful feature. We’re used to search boxes on just about anything these days and HTML forms should be no different. In this post I’ll describe how you can easily filter a list down to just the elements that match text typed into a search box. It’s a pretty simple task and it’s super easy to do, but I get a surprising number of comments from developers I work with who are surprised how easy it is to hook up this sort of behavior, that I thought it’s worth a blog post. But Angular does that out of the Box, right? These days it seems everybody is raving about Angular and the rich SPA features it provides. One of the cool features of Angular is the ability to do drop dead simple filters where you can specify a filter expression as part of a looping construct and automatically have that filter applied so that only items that match the filter show. I think Angular has single handedly elevated search filters to first rate, front-row status because it’s so easy. I love using Angular myself, but Angular is not a generic solution to problems like this. For one thing, using Angular requires you to render the list data with Angular – if you have data that is server rendered or static, then Angular doesn’t work. Not all applications are client side rendered SPAs – not by a long shot, and nor do all applications need to become SPAs. Long story short, it’s pretty easy to achieve text filtering effects using jQuery (or plain JavaScript for that matter) with just a little bit of work. Let’s take a look at an example. Why Filter? Client side filtering is a very useful tool that can make it drastically easier to sift through data displayed in client side lists. In my applications I like to display scrollable lists that contain a reasonably large amount of data, rather than the classic paging style displays which tend to be painful to use. So I often display 50 or so items per ‘page’ and it’s extremely useful to be able to filter this list down. Here’s an example in my Time Trakker application where I can quickly glance at various common views of my time entries. I can see Recent Entries, Unbilled Entries, Open Entries etc and filter those down by individual customers and so forth. Each of these lists results tends to be a few pages worth of scrollable content. The following screen shot shows a filtered view of Recent Entries that match the search keyword of CellPage: As you can see in this animated GIF, the filter is applied as you type, displaying only entries that match the text anywhere inside of the text of each of the list items. This is an immediately useful feature for just about any list display and adds significant value. A few lines of jQuery The good news is that this is trivially simple using jQuery. To hook up the search filter with jQuery is merely a matter of a few lines of jQuery code hooked to the .keyup() event handler: <script type="text/javascript"> $("#txtSearchPage").keyup(function() { var search = $(this).val(); $(".time-entry").show(); if (search) $(".time-entry").not(":contains(" + search + ")").hide(); }); </script> The idea here is pretty simple: You capture the keystroke in the search box and capture the search text. Using that search text you first make all items visible and then hide all the items that don’t match. Since DOM changes are applied after a method finishes execution in JavaScript, the show and hide operations are effectively batched up and so the view changes only to the final list rather than flashing the whole list and then removing items on a slow machine. You get the desired effect of the list showing the items in question. Case Insensitive Filtering But there is one problem with the solution above: The jQuery :contains filter is case sensitive, so your search text has to match expressions explicitly which is a bit cumbersome when typing. In the screen capture above I actually cheated – I used a custom filter that provides case insensitive contains behavior. jQuery makes it really easy to create custom query filters, and so I created one called containsNoCase. Here’s the implementation of this custom filter:$.expr[":"].containsNoCase = function(el, i, m) { var search = m[3]; if (!search) return false; return new RegExp(search, "i").test($(el).text()); }; This filter can be added anywhere where page level JavaScript runs – in page script or a seperately loaded .js file.  The filter basically extends jQuery with a : expression. Filters get passed a tokenized array that contains the expression. In this case the m[3] contains the search text from inside of the brackets. A filter basically looks at the active element that is passed in and then can return true or false to determine whether the item should be matched. Here I check a regular expression that looks for the search text in the element’s text. Optionally you can specify a character count at which the filter kicks in since it’s kind of useless to filter at a single character typically. Summary This is s a very easy solution to a cool user interface feature your users will thank you for. Search filtering is a simple but highly effective user interface feature, and as you’ve seen in this post it’s very simple to create this behavior with just a few lines of jQuery code. While all the cool kids are doing Angular these days, jQuery is still useful in many applications that don’t embrace the ‘everything generated in JavaScript’ paradigm. • Memory-Mapped Files & Transparent Persistence of Java Objects

  Greeting All, I want to achieve transparent persistence of Java objects through memory-mapped files (utilize the OS paging/swapping mechanism). My problem is: how can I move a Java object to my memory-mapped block ? Plus, how can I force a new object instance to reside in such blocks ? As you all know, a memory-mapped block can be seen as a byte array, and what I am really asking here is how to overlap the address space of Java objects with the one of such arrays ? If Java does not allow me for this, what cross-platform & garbage-collecting OO language would you advise me to use ? Thank you all in advance.

• User controls do not properly fit on the screen

  Hi, My application has several controls. Like in one screen has TreeView on left side, GridView with paging in the middle and 4 buttons at right side. The controls properly appear when the form is in a maximized state, but if I minimize it the controls do not properly fit on the screen. I tried with different different tricks like table layout.. in dat I added a panel, etc... But I could not solve the problem. How can I create such type of screens which fits independently of size of my window? Thanks

• IPHONE - number of row being shown

  I have a table inside a UIImageView. The table occupies the entire UIImageView. The table contains a series of images. Scroll and paging are enabled. As the table size is the same of its parent view, I can see just one cell of the table at a time. When I roll the table, I see the next or previous cell. I have a variable that must contain the number of the row being shown, but how can I make this table update the variable. I can see that I can use the didSelectRowAtIndexPath to change the variable when the cell is selected, but this is not the case. I need to update the variable when the table is rolled. I want to do the same thing I could do using a UISCrollView and scrollViewDidScroll:, but even if this is possible, I would have to know the number of the row that is visible. How can I do that? thanks.

  I've been doing some pagination recently and used the following: if ( $totalPages > $pagesToShow ) { $start = $pageNumber - floor($pagesToShow/2); $end = $pageNumber + floor($pagesToShow/2); while ( $start < 1 ) { $start++; $end++; } while ( $end > $totalPages ) { $start--; $end--; } } else { $start = 1; $end = $totalPages; } to work out where to start and end the list of surrounding pages. So that a paging list can be created like << < 1 2 3 4 5 '. Just wondering if there is a better method as using loops like that seems a little odd.

• Alert on moving to a different page of a grid when user changes contents of textboxes in a Grid

  In a ASP.NET application I have a paging RadGrid which shows up textbox in each row. Outside the grid, there is an OK button to save the content of all the textbox. If user changes text in any one or more of the textbox and without clicking on the "OK" button, tries to move to a different page number (of the grid by clicking on the page number), he should be prompted for confirmation of save or cancel the changes. I am guessing that one can write a Javascript function which would look for any form input control (textbox in my case) and detect changes and If there are changes, would prompt the user. However, I am not sure where I can call this function from? Any suggestion on this or a better way to achieve this would be appreciated. I am using RadGrid but I guess this should be applicable to GridView as well.

  Hi all, I'm developing a web application using asp.net Mvc 2 and NHibernate, and I'm paging data (products in a category) in my page, but this data are random, so, I'm using a HQL statement link this: string hql = "from Product p where p.Category.Id=:IdCategory order by rand()"; It's working fine, but when I page, sometimes the same product appears in the first, second, etc... pages because it's order by rand(). Is there any way to make a random order by fixed by period (time internal) ? Or any solution ? thanks Cheers

It's a paging mechanism so the hidden value was valid on the first page and I've been able to move forward to the next page. But since the values won't update properly it ends there.
